Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ Roleplay OOC Discussion and Sign-ups _ Moths to a Flame... ~ OOC DISCUSSION/SIGNUPS

The end has arrived.
In a fierce battle, all of the Legendary Pokemon fought each other for power and dominance over the lands. Their battle lasted many years and killed many innocent humans and Pokemon, and razed the lands.
As the battle seemed to reach its climax, Arceus descended from the Hall of Origin and passed its Judgement. In a flash of light the Legendary Pokemon disappeared. The Judgement destroyed buildings, leveled landscapes, and eliminated many. With life nearly over for both humans and Pokemon, the decision was made to travel to a single land and begin repopulating. That land was chosen to be Saffron City in Kanto, as Kanto was the region least destroyed.
Eventually people and Pokemon began fighting over the limited resources. These arguments escalated, and eventually people split apart and headed in every direction in an attempt to live on their own.
The world is in total anarchy. We are like moths drawn to a flame--we know that we must repopulate and survive, but we are afraid of being burned. We are afraid of the fires that await outside our comfortable homes.
We do not know what--or whom--lurks behind our backs...
OVERVIEWThis is a post-apocalyptic setting. The buildings of Kanto are all nearly gone save for a few makeshift ones. The ones still standing are unsafe for habitation. There are no leaders, gyms, elite four, or champions. The status of trainers no longer matters. Rookies and experts are forced to live together and coexist with their remaining Pokemon in the hopes of surviving. Resources are limited, and you cannot trust the person next to you. It's up to you and you alone to survive, yet at the same time, you know that you need others. The problem is, you can't take three steps without looking behind your back anymore. How will you adapt and survive?
RULES
1. All forum rules apply here.
2. One character per person.
3. No controlling of other characters beyond minor dialogue and movement in order to keep things moving.
3a. EXCEPTION: If someone gives you permission to control their character.
4. All Pokemon minus legendaries are available to characters. However, if you just started before the Judgement, you're not going to have Tyranitars and the like. Be realistic.
5. Proper spelling and grammar are nice. Make your posts readable!
6. Because this is a post-apocalyptic world, some of the pathways in Kanto have been altered. It's now much harder to travel to some places, easier for some, etc.
7. Please, if you are accepted, BE ACTIVE. If you foresee being away for a while have someone else RP for you, if possible. I'm hoping I can create ONE RP that doesn't die.

A FEW NOTES
1. Appearance and personality do not have to be elaborate, as long as there is enough there in order to give us a strong image of what this person looks and acts like.
2. History should include where the character is residing at the beginning of the RP. Include things like how they got there and what they intend to do there.
3. Because the institutions are destroyed, Pokemon storage no longer exists--the person's party are the only Pokemon they have left. They may end up running into old partners along the way. Who knows?
4. Pokemon are allowed to have unlimited moves as long as they can learn them in some way. However, take note of the Pokemon's relative strength. A rookie trainer with a fairly weak Charmander isn't going to be using Flamethrower for a while.

Glad you finally "found" an Rp that you would like xD... Making one is always the best way to get your vision, I would guess ;3
I'll be joining, but I do have a few questions:
1. If everyone chose Saffron as a "safe place"... Then would the other continents still be populated? And if so, are they inhabitable.
2. If they are not habitable/able to start there... Are pokemon from other regions allowed? Such as if I wanted a Bagon or something along those lines.
3. Are pokeballs still an available resource? It would seem to me like their production would stop, therefore meaning that they would slowly and surely die out leaving broken ones and pokemon merely attached by a thin cord.
4. Could you possibly have a small group if you only had one main character? I would be interested in leading a nomadic pack type thing... But I would need to control the other characters at times... I know this seems obvious but I want to make sure... Your title scares me o-o

And for the first character... Mine! Use him as reference when signing up.
Name: Patrick Scolia
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 177 lbs.
Hometown: Verdanturf Town, Hoenn
Appearance: Patrick has short blonde hair that's constantly messy. He has deep jade-colored eyes, is clean shaven, and has fair skin. He keeps himself in shape by running daily. He has a sharply angled jaw and medium-size cheekbones, giving him a youthful appearance.
After the Judgement he developed a large scar on his back from flying debris that he keeps covered, as to not show signs of weakness. His clothing is simple and easy to move in--he wears athletic shorts and a t-shirt, although he also carries a sweatshirt for when it gets cold at nights.
Personality: Patrick is one of the few who is openly trying to find others for survival. He is smart enough to know that staying in a group is better than nothing. He has the basic survival skills that he learned at a young age, and also displays average intelligence. He talks moderately and with a level-headed tone, and rarely sees anger. Despite this, he is a bit callous towards strangers but lightens up after knowing them for some time.
History: Patrick was born to a middle-class family in Verdanturf, where he enjoyed a modest yet fulfilling life with his parents and older brother. The boys would repeatedly go camping with their father, and their mother was a Coordinator whose Ninetales won many contests. He attended school and did not receive his first Pokemon until the age of sixteen, when he decided to move away from home and enjoy light traveling. He began with a Taillow his mother's Ninetales had caught and began to explore the world around him. His partner grew in strength, and Patrick eventually received a few gym badges for his efforts. He was not one to travel with a large team, instead keeping to his main partner, Swellow, and a few others. At twenty-one, he was flying on Swellow's back when the pair were followed by the Legendary Bird Trio, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Desperate to get away, they dove downwards, taking injuries in the process. He then ran home only to find the town in flames. When the ashes subsided, only Ninetales remained, bruised but alive. He took Swellow and Ninetales with him to Kanto via boat, landing in the port of Fuschia with others from Hoenn. After traveling to Saffron, he settled there with the remaining survivors. Finding the disagreements to be too much, he left Saffron and headed west, towards Celadon, where he found a small community hiding in the old Game Corner basement. Right now he's just trying to survive, hoping that there can be some leadership and unity among the broken few.
Pokemon:
His mother's Ninetales, the only survivor of the blaze in Verdanturf. She does not fight much, as she was trained for Coordinating, nor does she reside in a Pokeball. She and Patrick have built a relationship of trust, and he sleeps nuzzled in her fur every evening.
His Swellow was the first Pokemon he'd owned, and became his partner in battle. Swellow still resides in a Pokeball, although Patrick walks with Swellow flying overhead constantly.

I'll be joining, but I do have a few questions:

They aren't populated anymore, nor are they habitable. Everyone who was still alive fled to Saffron.
2. If they are not habitable/able to start there... Are pokemon from other regions allowed? Such as if I wanted a Bagon or something along those lines.
Absolutely.
3. Are pokeballs still an available resource? It would seem to me like their production would stop, therefore meaning that they would slowly and surely die out leaving broken ones and pokemon merely attached by a thin cord.
Everyone who had Pokeballs still have them, but there really are no markets so there's no more production.

I don't see a problem with it as long as there aren't a million people and it's kept to a small limit.
See replies in bold.

Here ya go:
Roxxy (click to showhide)
Name: Roxanne "Roxxy" Mauden
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 140 lb
Hometown: Lilycove City, Hoenn
Appearance: Roxxy is a bit tall for her age at 5'10", and is thin and wiry, giving her the appearance of having been pulled through Willy Wonka's Taffy Puller. Her fingers are long, and always moving or doing something, be it fiddling with a stray thread or just twitching. She is fairly strong from living on her own for so long, and rather enjoys getting into fights. As a result, it's not surprising the amount of scars she has. Her clothes cover most of them, but there is one small nick on her face, just underneath her left eye, and another slash stretching diagonally across the knuckles of her right hand. On her back, hidden by her shirt, are several old scratches from a nasty fall out of a tree; there is a scar from surgery on her right calf from when she broke her leg in a bad way.
Her face is very sharp, with a pointed chin and short nose. Roxxy's eyes are her most prominent feature. They are bright electric blue, and very unemotional, displaying only casual indifference and maybe a bit of mischief now and then. Her eyebrows are rather thin, and curved so that she always looks up to no good. Her nose is small and pointy, set above thin lips that are usually formed into a smirk, showing off slightly crooked teeth. Roxxy's hair is dull black, chopped in a short pixie cut, with bangs that sweep over her left eye. The bangs have a bright red streak about an inch wide in them.
Roxxy's clothes are simple: she wears dark colored shirts and blue-faded-to-grey jeans with frayed ankles. Her shoes are "skateboard" shoes, and black with white soles and a blue swipe on the side, somewhat dulled from the years of use. She has three piercings, small silver hoops, in her ears: one on each lower earlobe and one right above the one on her right ear.
Personality: Roxxy is a rather, well, angry individual. She enjoys pushing people to their limits and getting in fights, especially when there is money or supplies involved. If she feels someone is pulling her back from success, it doesn't matter how long she's know that person; Roxxy will not hesitate to cut ties with them if it means getting ahead. That being said, Roxxy has some values. She tries not to lie, and is fiercely loyal to the causes she believes in.
History: Roxxy is an orphan, abandoned in Lilycove's Orphanage when she was just a few days old. That is where she spent the majority of her early life, but she never made any lasting connections. When she was ten, she swiped a few pokeballs from the local Pokemart and ran away. The first pokemon she encountered in the wild was a Zubat, which got tangled in her hair and became her most trusted partner.
She traveled from region to region, picking up a few from each, until she arrived in Sinnoh when she was 16 and met Duncan, a police officer. Well, "met" is a bit of an understatement: he was chasing Epsilon and her for stealing from Veilstone's Department Store. She got away with it, but Duncan kept coming back and they eventually started going out. This was the first and only time Roxxy ever seriously considered giving up her journey and settling down. Almost a year after they met, however, Duncan was killed and Roxxy began to run again.
When Arceus passed its Judgement, Roxxy was lucky enough to be in one of Kanto's underground tunnels with Burnout and Epsilon with her. When she finally made it out of the tunnel - the entrances had collapsed and her Rhydon was in the PC - the world was chaos. Still though, she had survived this long; Roxxy stuck to what she knew and kept moving through the Kanto region, even after she learned that the PC system had crashed and all her old teammates were lost.
Pokemon:Nicknamed Epsilon, he was Roxxy's very first pokemon when she was only about ten. Since then he has become somewhat of a BAMF, and stays by Roxxy's side even though his pokeball was destroyed in a fight years ago.
Burnout the Yanmega is the only other surviving member of Roxxy's team; the rest were killed or worse when the PC system went down. He is quick to anger, and not that used to working in a team, but he usually means well.

Name: Mizuno Nariko
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 105 lbs
Hometown: Cerulean City
Appearance: http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/361/1/c/profile_picture_by_advicefrom_mikuo-d4kdgf7.png
Personality: Mizuno is very quiet. He tends to come off as shy, but in all honestly, he just wants a friend. He's willing to make friends with anyone if they seem nice enough.
History: Mizuno grew up in Cerulean City as an only child. His parents never got along with each other very well and none of the kids his age ever gave him more than a passing glance every other chance encounter. Because of the human neglect, Mizuno never developed good social skills and would often go to the outskirts of the city near the entrance to Mt. Moon and play with the wild pokčmon, finding their company more enjoyable. He loved to swim and missed the comfort of the river that Saffron didn't have. Actually, even if Saffron did have the same river, he couldn't bare to swim in it. Mizuno had had so many friends that lived in that water, and when Arceus passed judgment on the world, all of them died. Mizuno had to get away; there were too many memories in Cerulean and Saffron provided an outlet for him.
And as for the pokčmon:
Neptune (~26 Vaporeon)
Neptune was Mizuno’s first pokčmon, given to him on his 10th birthday. The two grew very close very quickly. One day, while the two were playing by the local river, Neptune found a water stone and accidentally evolved himself.
Zephyr (~25 Pidgeotto)
Mizuno found Zephyr while she was still a pidgey. She was in a delicate state, one that involved a broken wing and near-starvation. After Mizuno nursed Zephyr back to health, she wouldn’t leave his side.
Claw (~24 Sandshrew)
Mizuno saved Claw after the sandshrew almost drowned in the local river. At first, he wanted nothing to do with Mizuno, but after almost drowning a few more times, he decided to stay by the human’s side.
Rhyme (~24 Pichu)
Rhyme used to belong to another trainer, an abusive one. A few months before judgment day, the trainer almost killed her. Mizuno came up and saved her at the last moment, though he ended up with a black eye and a chipped tooth.
Cait Sith (~23 Meowth)
Cait Sith was raised by Mizuno from an egg he found in the forest.
"Cait Sith" is pronounced "ket-chee" by the way

A little short on the background, like what was his home life like? Family? How did he meet his Pokemon? I do like it thus far. If you can throw in a little more detail I'd accept it in a heartbeat. You definitely have a reserved spot, though.

I really love this idea! Here's my character:
Amber Fischer (click to showhide)
Name: Amber Fischer
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Height: 5'0"
Weight: 95lbs
Hometown: White Forest, Unova
Appearance: Amber's slight build and stature, coupled with her rounded face and small cheekbones, makes her appear much younger than she truly is. But her childish appearance isn't what sets her apart; rather, it's her near-white skin and hair as well as her sensitive reddish eyes that come with her albinism. She wears a simple lavender headband to keep her short-cut, often messy hair from falling into her face, and her bangs come down to just above her large, expressive eyes. Her other facial features - nose, mouth, and ears, are rather tiny and unremarkable. Her outfit of choice is practical in addition to well-worn: an oversized purple t-shirt or sweater (depending on the weather) and jeans covered in rips and stains. She also carries a small white backpack for storing her Pokéballs and other items. Though she often relies on her Tropius for shade, she also owns a parasol with a leaf pattern that creates a tree-like shadow (see http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/264/c/0/doctor_who__daylight_umbrella_by_hana_dawn-d5fh56v.png).
Personality: Amber has a policy of remaining optimistic no matter the circumstances. She has an ability to acknowledge that times are bad and move on, finding joy in what little positivity remains in the world. Though she is not unintelligent, she has a tendency to be rather gullible due to how quickly she trusts others, always assuming the best of people (her Pokémon are the main reason she's survived thus far). Generally, she is a very friendly person, and she's always willing to work with others. However, she despises the very notion of
depending on others: She was often coddled as a child due to her disorder, despite being just as healthy as most kids other than her aversion to light. As a result, she developed a desire to prove that while she is able to accept assistance with certain things, she's perfectly capable of taking care of herself if she has to. She is usually rather honest, and dislikes lying to or stealing from others.
History: Amber was born in Undella Town, to a rather wealthy couple of Pokémon coordinators who owned a large villa there. She was diagnosed with albinism at birth; as a result, her already poor vision was weakened by light and her skin was easily burned by the sun. The tropical climate of Undella Town thus wasn't the best place to raise her, especially in the early years of her development, so her parents sent her to live with her grandmother in a small village inside the much more shaded White Forest. They were busy people who travelled a lot, but they still visited their daughter as often as they could manage. Amber always looked forward to these visits; her parents would tell her stories about the Pokémon they met on their travels, which made her decide early on that she wanted to raise Pokémon one day, too.
When Amber was only ten years old, she and her grandmother were faced with devastating news: An airplane carrying more than 100 passengers, among them Amber's parents, was caught in the midst of an intense battle between Zekrom and Reshiram and knocked clean out of the sky, leaving no survivors. Amber was inconsolable for quite a while after hearing this, but after a while she remembered something her grandmother told her: "Always look on the bright side, because when you're at your lowest point, the only way to go is up". So instead of dwelling on the loss of her parents, she decided to focus on remembering the good times she had with them and the great lives they'd led.
However, Amber was becoming fed up with the way her peers, teachers and pretty much everyone except her grandmother treated her. Every adult seemed to think she deserved special treatment, and she was mocked and ridiculed by her peers - the only "friends" she had were only there out of pity for her. So, at the young age of thirteen, she decided to leave home and become a travelling trainer. Her grandmother provided her with Pokéballs and other necessary supplies, and insisted that she take their pet Lilipup, Ralph, with her. Amber soon discovered that battling wasn't her strong suit, however; she preferred travelling for the simple joy of seeing new places and Pokémon, only catching the few Pokémon that she befriended on her journey.
The Judgement occurred when she was seventeen. It all happened so fast; one minute, Amber was enjoying a rather peaceful ride over Unova on her Tropius, Mayu's back; the next, the landscape stretched out below her was being destroyed before her very eyes. She was lucky enough to have been in the air, although she and Mayu both suffered injuries from being battered by a storm that ensued. After things settled, Amber and her Pokémon headed to Castelia's port, where they hopped on a boat to Kanto (even Mayu could not fly such a distance) with the other survivors. She was deemed mostly useless by most of those at Saffron and quickly left, and has since been wandering the land, trying to stay alive and doing as much as she can to help other surviving people and Pokémon she meets.
Pokemon:Ralph the Herdier had belonged to Amber's grandmother since he was a Lilipup, and he was given to Amber as a starting Pokémon when she expressed interest in becoming a trainer. He only evolved recently, so he still has a bit of a puppy's mindset: he's easily distracted and he'd rather play than fight.
Nicknamed Mayu, this Tropius was the first Pokémon that Amber caught herself. She noticed how much trouble Amber was having with navigating in the sunlight, and provided her with shade; the two have been close friends ever since. Though incredibly hostile to strangers due to her fierce protectiveness of Amber, Mayu shows an unusual amount of gentleness around her trainer, often providing shelter, transportation, and even a food source.
Diamond the Scrafty's moral compass is not as strong as Amber's; he is not afraid to steal from others if need be, much to his trainer's disapproval. He was greatly injured in a battle that ravaged his former home, and joined Amber's team after the girl treated his wounds. His name comes from his fascination with shiny things.
Amber found Jojo, as the Joltik was nicknamed, not long after the Judgement and took pity on the tiny Pokémon. She hasn't officially caught it yet, and instead allows her to live in Mayu's leaves where she first found her (much to the Tropius' annoyance). She's rather timid around other people.
If any details need to be changed, please let me know.

Sorry, I thought this would take longer.
David Dalton (click to showhide)
Name: David “Dave” Dalton
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 117lbs
Hometown: Veilstone City
Appearance: David is a Caucasian male. His eyes are brown, and his hair is an off tan color. He wears a pair of gray cargo pants, and a white t-shirt. Overtop that, he wears a dull green colored fatigue jacket. Finally, he wears a pair of black hiking boots and a patrol cap in the same color of his jacket. Around his neck is a black bandanna, with a pair of aviator goggles resting on top of it. He uses these to protect his eyes and mouth from dust storms. Thanks to all of the pockets his pants and coat grant him, the brown knapsack he carries with him is relatively small, holding only a few perishable goods.
Personality: Despite the grim circumstances of the world around him, David has done his best to maintain a positive attitude, believing that the moment he allows himself to fall into despair he will die. He is headstrong, which has gotten him into trouble in the past. Luckily for him, he has a way with words, and has been able to sweet-talk his way out of a handful of potentially messy situations. Finally, despite his cheery outlook, David is, above all else, pragmatic. He is not afraid to throw the people around him to the wolves in the event that doing so would reach a favorable outcome for himself.
History: David was born into your average family. He was the only child of two working parents, and thus was often left alone with his father’s Pokemon. Still, they had a happy life. Or so David thought. As it turns out, his parents simply weren’t getting along. Rather than fight in front of their child, they agreed to separate amicably. Divorce followed soon after, and his mother moved to Johto, leaving David with his father.
Though his father’s busy work schedule prevented him from interacting with David as much as either of them would have liked, the two were still very happy together. One day, they caught a break. His father had found a new, better paying job, at Sliph Co.’s headquarters in Saffron City, Kanto. Plus, with the Maglev train located right in the city, it was possible for David to journey to Johto and visit his mother in Goldenrod City more often than he ever could. The family packed up and prepared to leave, but first, his father presented him a gift: His first Pokemon, a Buizel. Something he could remember Sinnoh by.
The two lived in Saffron for about a year before the disasters began. While Saffron City managed to survive the majority of the attacks, it was still very badly damaged. David’s father was injured, and, unable to find medicine for him, his wound soon became infected. His father died shortly after the Judgment came, David burying him later that same day. With nothing left for him in Saffron, David set his sights on Johto, where his mother lived, either not knowing, or not believing, that the region suffered much worse destruction. Taking his father’s remaining Pokemon with him, he set out, destination: Goldenrod City.
Pokemon:
Leo - The first Pokemon David could ever call his own. Leo is a young male Buizel with minimal battling experience. Rather than being captured wild, David's father purchased Leo from a licensed Breeder. The Buizel is a mongrel, and he inherited the move Slash from his father.
Wyatt - The only Pokemon that David has successfully captured. Wyatt is a young male Sandshrew that David caught on Route 8 shortly after moving to Saffron City. Though he has more battling experience than Leo does, due to having been a Wild Pokemon, the Buizel's type advantage gave Leo the edge needed to win.
Rue - The oldest Pokemon David currently owns, and one of his father's surviving Pokemon. Rue is a male Toxicroak, and is the most experienced battler in David's possession. While he is loyal to David, the boy's unfamiliarity with the Toxicroak's abilities has caused Rue to go off the rails more than once.
Allegra - Allegra is a female Luxray, and the second of David's father's surviving Pokemon. In contrast to Rue, Allegra is much more patient with David, and as such, the boy has made great progress in learning the extent of her powers.

I hope you don't mind if I make some critiques... But...
1. Her weight is without units. She could weigh 4.1 ounces, or tons. We don't know.
2. Her appearance seems lacking. The fact that you've described her facial features, and in barely any detail at that, is simply not good enough. Generally you should describe:
Their clothes
Their facial features
Are they beautiful/handsome?
What do they think of themselves? This can also tie into personality.
3. Personality is also very lacking. Just because she's "brave but quiet" doesn't explain hardly anything. Is that implying that she's just quiet by nature? Or is she really shy? Does she like her Pokemon? All things that should be explained.
4. Her height is ridiculous. She's a giant. Enough said.
5. Her backstory seems a little odd. Why was she alone? Does she like to keep it a secret? Did she kill someone? Was she adopted and ran away? You've said that she captured a Pokemon: but which, how, did she form a bond?
6. What about her Pokemon? How did she meet all of them? When?
Sorry: I just wanted to attempt to make some points so you could possibly edit it... Simply because I wouldn't accept this if it was submitted.

I wanna join!
Neptune was Mizuno's first pokčmon, given to him on his 10th birthday.
After Mizuno nursed Zephyr back to health, she wouldn't leave his side.
Claw (~24 Sandshrew)
Mizuno saved Claw after the sandshrew almost drowned in the local river. At first, he wanted nothing to do with Mizuno, but after almost drowning a few more times, he decided to stay by the human's side.
"Cait Sith" is pronounced "ket-chee" by the way
Approved! Welcome aboard.

Approved! Welcome aboard.

David Dalton (click to showhide)
Name: David "Dave" Dalton
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Height: 5'7"
He was the only child of two working parents, and thus was often left alone with his father's Pokemon. Still, they had a happy life. Approved, although I do want to point out that everyone moved to Kanto because the other regions are essentially desolate wastelands. David won't find anything in Goldenrod, if he can even make it there.

Claw male Lv57 When she returned to Sunnyshore city claw was causing trouble. She sent out Bolt and battled him. After the battle she decided to give Claw a try so she used an ultra ball she got and caught him
Razor female Lv58 Razor had the same fate of parents like Ivy. Ivy wanted to catch Razor because of this.
Volcano male Lv59 Given to her by professor Elm on the way back from her visit to Johto.
(Better now?)
It's still very lacking in details. Okay, so she lost her parents and lived alone. But how does that get her to the beginning of the RP? Was she traveling, did she meet up with people and go there? There's a lot of things you can think up. The appearance and personality are fine for now. But the backstory has a lot of work that needs to be done. Especially since her Pokemon have interesting backgrounds. Where did she meet these people? How did she meet them? There needs more thought.

Name:Leo Whyte
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Height: 6 foot 2 inches
Weight: 195lbs
Hometown: Veilstone City, Sinnoh
Appearance: Leo's build is thin and gangly, with long limbs. However he still has an athletic build with decent muscles. He is white and has a slight tan on his skin, with dark brown hair that is slicked back on his head. His eyes are narrow and emerald green, and his face is narrow with a pointed chin.
He wears a dark blue T-shirt underneath a black hunters jacket. He wears light grey combat trousers with and boots with padded soles for silent footsteps. Her also wears a black scarf which he fashions into a face mask and hood when he needs to. He carries a rucksack which holds multiple supplies, and has a homemade bow over his shoulder
Personality: The first thing Leo will do when you meet him is say something sarcastic. It's pretty much the only thing he can do well, besides hunting. A wise-cracker till his dying day, Leo always has some smart-alec thing to say for every situation. Usually he mouth ends up landing him in trouble, but he is always prepared for that more-than-likely outcome. The main reason he does it however is to make sure that no-one grows too close to him. By keeping his cool and snarky attitude, Leo makes sure he has no distractions from his priorities, making friends in his world is the same as setting up new targets for others. The only person he really cares for is his younger brother, Paul.
History: Growing up in Veilstone City, Leo was an antisocial individual, always getting into fights with other kids when growing up. his only friend, ironically, grew up to be a policeman, and would often get Leo out of trouble, while also keeping him on the straight and narrow. However that would all change during the legendary war, when Leo had turned 19.
While the war was going on, Veilstone had remained generally unscathed. However one day when Leo was walking over to the police station to see his friend. It was suddenly rocked by a great explosion. Leo later learned that a struggle between Heatran and Regigas near the city was the cause when a Lava Plume from Heatran went astray. but all he knew was what he saw. He ran to the wreckage and found his friend almost dead in the wreckage. With his last breath, Leo friends gave him two things. a Pokeball with his Growlithe inside, and a picture of a younger girl who he asked Leo to look for and give a message. Leo has never found that girl, but hasn't forgotten his promise either, and continues to look for the same girl wherever he goes.
Travelling to Kanto, Leo did adjust to iving in Saffrom City. His distrusting and sarcastic nature often got him into trouble with many others. He evntaully left, leaving his brother Paul, who had just turned 18, there as he was able to get along with them better. Leo began to live off the land, gathering food and berries before he bagan to realize he would need more. Fashioning himself a bow, he began to hunt Pokemon, only going after wild ones that were easy prey. Any he cae across who were decent survivalists he allowed to join his group, though this has only meant two other pokemon with him and his other two Pokemon.
When the rapture happened, Leo was in Johto, hunting and fetching certain objects. He had been asked to take on jobs for people in Saffron who were too scared to go themselves. He was in Goldenrod City and getting ready to return when the move hit the city like bomb. Many buildings collapsed, and the Maglev train was put completly out of commission by the blast. Unable to get to Saffron by conventional means. Leo has since been making the long trek back to Saffron to reunite with his brother.
Pokemon:
Stryker (Lvl 57) Leo's first Pokemon, Stryker has been through everything with Leo, and has always been there for him. He is a stalwart partner who will always be the first to jump to Leo's defense. He understnds what Leo needs to do to survive and often helps him when needs to, though he will not kill any Pokemon himself.
Iroh (Lvl 55) Iroh wasn't Leo's Pokemon, but was given to him by his friend before he died. Not being Leo's originla Pokemon, Iroh often showed hostility towards him, and refused to trust him. However, after it was attacked and wounded by a pack of rabid Houndour when it was still a Growlithe, Leo and Stryker rescued him and nursed him back to health. Iroh has since come to respect Leo and will follow him as was his master's last wishes.
Daga (Lvl 59) Daga was just a Pawniard whenLeo found him. He had been forcefully broughht over from Unova by an abusive trainer who had bred him to fight. when he was found by Leo, he immediately attacked him and managed to injure Stryker before Iroh could subdue him because of his weakness to fire. However, the Sharp Blade Pokemon refused to back down, something that Leo could understand, he himself being unable to back off from a fight. He asked Daga to join him, so he could learn to contrl his aggressive nature. Daga is a formidable fighter who finds it hard to control his urges. Being a Pokemon that hunts, it often accompanies Leo on hunting trips, where it excels in hunting bigger prey that Leo could not kill with just his arrows.
Glace (Lvl 49) When making his way through the Ice Path towards Mahogany Town. Leo found this young Sneasel stealing supplies and food from his back pack at night. While annoyed, Leo could see that she could be useful and caught her. Glace has gone on to become Leo's key asset in foraging for berries and other foods besides hunting. However she is a mischievous trickster, and has often stolen from other humans if she as the chance. Leo, although disapproving, will usually keep the food, seeing as the other person obviously didn't care enough to keep it in the first place.
Also Huntress, just read your SU and I like the little touch you put in there. I was seriously considering putting HIM in this thing till I saw that, so I thought this might work instead.

To be fair, the premise is good. You just have to think a little deeper.
So she lost her parents at a young age and had to live alone; how did she fend for herself? Did she have enough money? Did she steal?
From the descriptions of her meeting her Pokemon, it seems like she's done a lot of traveling. Where did she go? Who did she meet?
How did she get to Kanto? Did she travel with anyone? Where is she now?

I was seriously considering putting
HIM in this thing till I saw that, so I thought this might work instead.
You're

shellyoshawott - You may also want to consider expanding upon Ivy's appearance and personality a little more; right now they're both a bit vague. What is her body type? Nose type? Hairstyle? What specific type of clothes is she wearing? Does she have scars, freckles, piercings, or something similar? What about ticks or nervous habits? As for the personality, does she have any flaws? Fears? Secrets? Hopes? You say she is brave; expand on that. She stands up for those less fortunate, or she does daredevil stunts? Her being only 14 and having all these powerful pokemon is a bit tough to swallow too, you may want to consider making her older or making her pokemon a bit weaker. Lastly, the last name is a bit, well...unrealistic. Just remember: show, don't tell. It's good that you're learning, though.
Lester - Do you have an idea of when this will start? No rush, just curious. And also, I am leaving for Hawaii in a week; I'll probably have WiFi but I won't be able to post as much as possible.

I'm planning on starting it soon, mostly because I move to Florida in eight days, so a good starting premise would be nice, huh. I'll probably write an opening post tonight, so keep your eyes peeled, everyone!

Okay, I got some free time, I'mma gonna screw the laws of of gravity and my very reason and make my SU.
Don't mind my posts, it's midnight and I can't sleep, so I post shit. Though my night-bio's tend to be better than my average 'daylight' written ones.

Hey Lester I have to ask, what's the rating of this RP. It's just my opening post will probably include a Pidgey caught between an arrow and a hard place. and I don't want to get overly graphic if you don't want me too. And is stuff like Pokemon death okay in this? With my guy hunting Pokemon to survive I didn't want to overstep a boundary or anything

It's a post-apocalyptic world, I'm fine with most stuff necessary to survive. As long as you're not like super descriptive with the graphicness.
Think Walking Dead or the like.

Alright, here he goes!
Kaylin Mantis (click to showhide)
Name: Kaylin Mantis
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Height: 5"61
Weight: 121 lbs
Hometown: Saffron City
Appearance:http://c3e308.medialib.glogster.com/evane5cence/media/dd/dd290d80915b0c3efca687bf2badff92765cf5b9/women-eyes-guns-blood-redheads-weapons-artwork-drawings-anime-anime-girls-udonnodu-t2-zpsadaf37ad.jpg is a slim girl with a well-trained muscular body. Softly tanned skin with a pair of ice-blue eyes, red long hair that reaches halfway her back and a vertical 3 inch scar on her left eye mark her facial details. She has a thin face and mostly has an innocent, yet deceiving look.
Kaylin wears a narrow-fitting vertical striped, brown 'n white tanktop with a sleeveless vest atop of it. A pair of blue jeans and black leather sneakers finish her lower garments. She also wears fingerless knuckle-gloves, a black piece of cloth wrapped around her left biceps and a leather belt. On the leather belt a 9 inch hilt is attached, containing a moderately-sized hunting knife. She carries a rucksack with in it several small rations, bandages, a map of Saffron and its surroundings and a few spare knives.
Personality:Kaylin is careful when meeting new people, she was and always will be. First it was her shy nature, but after the Judgement it soon made way for a feeling of precaution. With a keen sense for adapting to environments she was able to quickly fit in again, though she became more alone from then on. She's willing to trust others, but only on her own conditions. Her happy-go-lucky and friendly way of going about has made way for a harsh and cynical nature, though she'll open up once she gets to know people better.
History:Kaylin was born and raised in Saffron, as the daughter of a karate-master at the fighting dojo. As her father she was soon enrolled there too, training there since she was six. Most of her life she hasn't left Saffron, until she turned 18 and got her black belt after taking on the entire dojo. She was sent abroad to go and search for the Karate King in Johto. Together with her partner Khan, a lucario she received as a riolu when commencing her training at the dojo, they traveled across Johto, learning about other fighting styles and learning to handle knives. After a year she found the Karate king, who gave her a note and sent her back to Kanto.
After delivering that note, stating that the dojo now would be used for the gymleaders from across all regions to battle each other from time to time, most members left to find their hail elsewhere. Together with her father and a few who decided to stay, they kept the fighting dojo in honor. After two years Kaylin felt the urge to travel again, leaving the dojo behind she traveled to Hoenn and Unova, training her newly caught partners for three years. Getting homesick she traveled back to Kanto, Halting in Lavender Town to have some fights on Mt. Moon. She never had any troubles with the wars being waged between the Legendary pokémon, some would've praised her lucky for not seeing any signs of it during her journeys.
Though luck didn't last as long as she thought. When being in the mountains she witnessed how the legendary birds wrecked havoc to the local wildlife when fighting against each other. Their fight went out of hand as they grew a vicious thunderstorm, the air so cold that it burnt skins whilst the ground melted on several places due to Moltres' doing. Knowing she'd be in deep trouble she ran of, away from the three legendary birds. A bright light shone in the sky, showing a magnificent pokémon she recognized to be Arceus. In awe by this appearance she stopped running and just gazed at the light. Then Arceus rained down its Judgement. Kaylin was Ko'd by the blast and catapulted into a grove, which afterwards had saved her life. When she came to all was gone, the mountain was a barren wasteland.
Getting back of the mountain and towards Lavender she saw all was in ruins, many wounded and even more dead. Staying there to help out she learnt that Saffron was least hit by the Judgement and it was capable of living in. With a a small group of survivors, about 25 people, she decided to travel towards Saffron. On their way they were ambushed by other survivors, who slayed most of the group just to get their supplies and rations. Their leader was Kaylin's best friend, which was one of the reasons she'd survived the raid. Since then she became more cautious of her surroundings and other people. In Saffron she learnt that the dojo had been spared but that her family was killed by Arceus' Judgement. Now she hangs around the dojo, spying, hunting and protecting unwary travelers from unnecessary harm of robbers.
Pokemon:Cloud (lvl 57) was the last pokémon that joined Kaylin's team. It was gifted to her when she helped out in the Weather Institute. It's a playful Castform that likes changing its form whenever it can, outgoing as it is he doesn't mid strangers and regularly gets into trouble.
Khan (lvl 69) was Kaylin's first pokémon and oldest friend. Given to her by her father when she joined the dojo she has trained with it ever since she can remember. He is also the only pokémon able to act without Kaylin even having to say a word, as they grew to rely and understand each other better without than with speech. He's very protective of her and the rest of her crew.
Mist (lvl 63) is a mischievous yet smart Zorua, who Kaylin caught in Unova. It doesn't like people, leave alone strangers and has a very fierce temperament. It loves to fight and will attack anyone whenever he can, though listens to Kaylin with a steel obedience when ordered.
