Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ Bug and Errors _ Mobile site not working

Posted by: Zynn Feb 7 2016, 12:25 AM

I am unable to play on the mobile site currently. I use Google Chrome, but I have tried on safari and get the same thing. When I try to log in on the login page, it simply refreshes and requires a login again. I have my site set to a different color scheme, so I can tell when it doesn't sign me in properly. The only way that I am able to get into the site is by going to the forums and logging in, and going from there. Even then it takes me back to the mobile GPX site where I cannot do anything. I can view my eggs and see that they need hatching, but the hatch button is nowhere to be found. If I go to the berry feeder and try to open the feeding session I get an error message on the page telling me that I've chosen an invalid page. I can go to the main index page and use the main site, but trying to do so on the phone or tablet is extremely difficult, and berry feeding sessions take at least twice as long if not longer. With the way things are right now there will be no way for me to participate in the upcoming scavenger hunt without major difficulties. Currently I don't have access to a normal computer, so the mobile site.

I haven't been playing GPX frequently, so I thought this may have just been a minor bug. But it's happening all the time making gameplay nearly impossible. Is this something that is good just on my end, or is this a widespread bug?

Well first of all what browser / device are you using? And how long has it been going on for? I haven't experienced this.

I use Google Chrome on either an iPhone 6s or various iPad versions. I have trouble on all of them. I've also tried with Safari, band have the same problem. It's been going on for well over a month now, but as I mentioned I've been playing infrequently during that time (IRL stuff XD ). I managed to finish the SWSH, only because it came in less than 50 eggs, and even that took way more time than it should have. Over this past week I've had more time to play, so now the bug is becoming really annoying.

Thanks in advance for any and all help. :-)

You know, I've just realized that it almost as all of the egg and 'mon links are missing. It's as if they're just a bunch of images and nothing more. No links, no options. And now anytime I navigate away from the page, it kicks me offline and I have to log into the forums again before I can even try the main site again.

It's becoming rather frustrating. :-(

I'm sorry to keep bumping this topic, but now I can't even open the Berry Feeder on the Main site. If I try to open my party in a Berry Feeding window, I'm told that this page isn't working, and to try switching to Google Chrome. Which would be all well and good.... If I wasn't *already* Chrome to begin with. And if I go to the Users page and try to open the Berry Feeder there, it doesn't do anything. Literally. I click, and nothing happens. It's not even as if the page locks up. I can scroll, highlight, move to another page and all that, but not feed.

In a nutshell, I'm effectively locked out of gameplay. I can pick up eggs, and hope that enough people visit to help them hatch, but can't return the favor. I'm.... Lost.... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

EDIT: Here's the exact error message I'm getting. And despite what it says, I *am* using the latest version...

"Your browser must support local storage to use this feature! To proceed you'll have to either update to the latest version or switch to Google Chrome."

Have you tried clearing the cache? If that doesn't work, I would recommend uninstalling and re-installing Google Chrome and see if that works. If both these fail to fix the problem, it's most likely a problem site-wise and not browser-wise.

Huh. Do your permissions for cookies look like this?

From what that message says it sounds like you disabled something... You could sure try to uninstall and reinstall Chrome, too.

Thank you both for trying to help. Because of your replies I started doing some digging, and I think I may know what's going on, at least with Chrome.

@ pokebub - I tried clearing, but no success. Deleting & reinstalling didn't help either. Thanks for trying. :-)

@cycloneblaze - the settings on my devices are a bit different, I did go hunting for the 'allow cookies' settings. And what I found was they no longer exist. The option has vanished from the settings menu. Apparently in a previous update Chrome removed the ability to manage cookies on iPads & iPhone. According to a help website:

"Upgrade to the most recent version of Chrome on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to get a faster, more stable browser. Chrome on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch now uses WKWebView, the latest web rendering engine available from Apple. It helps webpages run faster and reduces the possibility that Chrome could crash or freeze.

We are rolling this out gradually to a small number of users, so you may not see a change immediately.

Update Chrome on your iPhone and iPad

Learn how to upgrade to the most recent version of Chrome. It might happen automatically.

Features not available on iPhone and iPad

Some of your Chrome features and settings will not be available at this time because of iOS constraints. Downloads that require authentication might not work, and the following features and settings had to be removed:

Data Saver
Cookie settings
Auto-Detect Encoding
Do Not Track setting
Enterprise support and multi-profiles

If Apple makes changes to WKWebView to allow these features, we will add them back in."

If I'm reading that right, I won't be able to access GPX properly until Chrome and Apple become friends again. (Major sarcasm intended) As for Safari, I have cookies allowed, yet I'm still unable to play on the mobile site, nor can I use the Berry Feeder on the Main site. Is there another mobile browser I can try that GPX supports?

EDIT: I found one! It's a mobile browser called Dolphin. It's quite a bit slower on the page loading than either Chrome or Safari, but I can access both the Mobile site & Main site without issue, & the Berry Feeder, which puts me baxk in the game. Thanks both again for the help. Even indirectly it made all the difference. happy.gif clap.gif

Well, I'm glad you're able to play again! Beauty of the app store I guess - there's always gonna be an alternative.
