Update 2: Happy Mothers Day (belated).

So, this was supposed to be out yesterday, but real life came up. *grins winningly* Anyhow, today we're introducing a new feature! A way to get special combs to allow you to change the furstyles of your Furfrous. These combs are a permanent addition to your account.

How do you get these special combs you ask? By taking on trainers in the Battle Tower. Today, we are introducing the Elite Four & Champion trainers for Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos as well as rematch teams for Unova, Kanto, and Hoenn. Each region's team is its own separate trainer path. You have to start, and win, with the first trainer of a region and win each subsequent match to face the Champion! If you win this match, you win a Comb! If you lose, you need to wait another 3 days to try again.

After you win the Comb from a region, you will receive a nugget whenever you manage to beat that Champion.

Make sure you read the type of trainer you're facing as they are no slouches when it comes to battling.

Any posts asking to make these battles easier will be ignored and locked. There are a few good posts on the forum with guides to making a solid battle team. This will also be going on the do-not-suggest list.



Update: Happy May The Fourth Be With You Day!

To celebrate, we're introducing the Vivillon Forms! To get these Forms, you must send your Pokémon underground and hope they take a left turn at Albuquerque, get lost, and find a new region. If they do, they'll return home with a Flag from that region!

As is common with new regions, sometimes you end up with a vacation illness. Therefore, Pokémon who find a new region (and thus a new region flag), have a greater chance of coming back from the Underground with Pokérus. (But only if you return them to your party directly instead of releasing them or putting them in another location like the PC or Walker).

The Regional Flags are permanent items, and will have their own space in your inventory. Ergo, you can only collect each Flag once. Once you have a flag, you can form change any Vivillon in your possession to the form represented by said flag. If you release them, it will revert back to Meadow, the default flag.




It's May! And you all know what that means: No more Justin Timberlake "It's gonna be May" gifs for another year! yay!

It also means another set of monthly explorations!

This month, we have:

The Hidden Ruins: Registeel/Regice/Regirock
King of the Temple: Regigigas
Deep Desires: Darkrai


However, that's not all we have in store. This month we're going to celebrate with an event called The Merry Month of May!

Over the course of the month of May, we will introduce new features to the site on different special days.

To kick this off, we're releasing a new normal exploration called "The Vespertine Thief" for the ever-elusive Dracowymsy egg!

The remaining special days are going to be a surprise, but we hope you'll enjoy what we'll bring to you this month.

PS: If anyone wants to make trinkets for July's batch, please do so soon. I may close submissions sometime this month for a bit.

Haha, I still vaguely remember when Dracowymsy was this super-mega-ultra-rare thing that was pretty much as hard to obtain as a Normal-Type Arceus.

I've gotten one trinket up, but now it looks like the rest will have to come for another set. It sucks that i have to do these one at a time, because it would be awkward to have them span over several months.

The only legendaries I'm missing from the explorations are...Regirock and Registeel. Heh. HEH. (Maybe this month will be my first attempt at TBD...)

Ah yes, finally I can complete the dex entries for that Regi set. Still have that old regular Legend Voucher and am running out of things to use it for, lol.


And all these exciting and mysterious upcoming features might help me keep my mind off of IRL things right now. Can't wait to see what is implemented next

Another new Exploration? Cool!
Struggling to think of something to say is priceless and utterly failing? Priceless.

Just one question... After the Arceus Exploration came out, the requirement for the Achievement Insatiably Curious increased from 38 to 39, so with the new Dracowymsy one shouldn't it be 40? Because I just checked and it still only shows 39.

P.S. I realize right now I'm basically being that one kid in the classroom that asks "What's our homework?" just before the period ends if the teacher didn't give an assignment yet, but the way the Achievement is worded is misleading if you don't actually have to do all of them to get it; a friend of mine IRL got the Achievement Legendary Collector a while back for obtaining all Legendaries despite not having all of them, so I can only assume the number was not updated when new ones were added - or, if it has been, it was not before she unlocked it.

Not sure if that idea has been discussed before, but I think that with all the new permanent items you're introducing recently (Mega Stones, plates, flags, giftboxes, I'm assuming you will also do something for dog grooming soon) the inventory panel might need some cleaning up.
I'd suggest, instead of rebuilding it all, introducing some sort of case system - instead of listing the mega stones you own, you'd only have a "Mega Case" that when clicked would open up a new window with a neat list of either all the stones you own, or a list of all the stones in general, with the ones you are missing greyed out.
I don't even want to imagine what the inventory screen of a person that has all the flags, stones and plates would look like, with the current display.

I could see the inventory getting a bit cumbersome once items start accumulating. I would imagine something like collapsible lists (ie: Text that we click to enlarge and downsize a certain listed section of items) would prevent a lot of clutter, it would be kind of like how spoiler tags work. Or we could make buttons at the top of the inventory page (it could have text like the battle tower or images like the berry feeder) that we click on to bring up each section of items underneath the buttons if we want to continue with the tabs theme the site has.


Also, to the admins, I have a question of my own about flags. It stated that they only come back with pokerus if we bring them directly to the party. Do we only get the flags if they're brought directly to the party after they finish or do we get the flags regardless of where we send them (pc/pokewalker/battle tower/vs seeker/etc)?

The Pokerus needs to be in party because having Pokerus means being locked into the party (until cured with time or an antidote) the items aspect is separate and works like any other item found Underground.

Oh my god, these flags are an amazing idea. I had a Snivy in and got a River Flag then I used underground pass powers on notched-ear pichu and got a saltwater bucket! Thanks for the updates, you guys rock!

I believe they can! I just got one flag and form changed my Vivilion, but as it says in the pokédex and in the dropdown menu its form would be changeable again in five days (just like any form change). Ofcourse if you have an eviolite it can be done sooner. So it's not the "change its form and you can never change it back" kinda thing, which I like better!

Now a little question: Does the pokérus affect our pokémon in some way, like in Pokémon games? Besides not being able to move them out of party unless we heal them? Or they just get infected and, that's it?

Yes, Vivillon can be form-changed multiple time, to and from any form (that you have a flag of, or Meadow form which is the default).

Also, I do have plans to revamp the Inventory panel... just need the time to do it.

Concerning the Vivillon forms, I was under the impression that they were going to be alternate sprites originally - an idea which was reinforced by the Pokédex data saying I have obtained 0 of 19 alternate sprites - but now that they're actually form changes with different dex entries, wouldn't that mean there are no longer going to be any alternate sprites? I think that information in the Pokédex should be updated to say that there are no alternate sprites to unlock, and also when "Change sprite" is selected from the options drop down it should say "There are no images available for this Pokémon to change to" instead of opening a dialog box with no alternate sprites in it like it does now.

I got an Archipelago flag and used it on my Vivillon and apparently (through the use of an eviolite since it's only just evolved) it can evolve to Scatterbug? Is that right or is it supposed to be Vivillon's Meadow form?

Probably not before they fix the PC bug. You can't fill all your boxes now, so there's no real point in adding more.

Hm, the flags sound interesting... I always forget to send my pokes underground, so maybe this will help me remember it finally.

Don't give up so soon! Sam made a great guide for getting in to battling, and it's very much something someone new to the Subway and Battle Tower can get in to and succeed with easily.

But I think I've run into a bug :/ I just started a battle with the fourth member of the kanto elite four and after choosing pokemon it got stuck with the message "waiting for opponent". I really don't want to quit the battle and wait three days because of a bug...

The same bug can happen with any other NPC and Battle Subway opponent, and the only known way to continue after it happens is to cancel the battle. Sorry.

Oo, I can view my past battles again! I haven't been able to do that in a long time. After I started battling a lot in the Battle Subway, I guess my list just had too much for the request to be handled. That tab would never load anymore.

I'm really excited for the additions to the Battle Tower. I probably missed something, but if not, I feel like they've been a long time coming.
I hope to see a bit of organization in the list of NPC battles in the future, though. Right now, they are just there/all over the place to me. I was kind of okay until my list went from Kanto and Johto to Unova, back to Hoenn and Sinnoh, then to a rematch before listing Kalos. My other issue with this is my own fault, however. It had been a while since I'd really looked at NPC listings, so I wasn't expecting to see the trainer names as the focus and the regions noted in the groupings. (I don't have the Elite Four members and the regions they belong to memorized at this time. xP)

Anyway, I have to work on my teams, and that will probably take a while. But it looks like I have a lot to look forward to. 83

This is something that's now at the top of my own priority list to resolve. That said, the Battle Tower is something created entirely by Big Bidoof... so it's all very foreign to me.

After you do a battle, you have to wait 3 days to start that battle again. In addition you need to have beaten a trainer to unlock the next one. When you start a battle with a trainer in a chain, you have to beat the previous one again to be able to do this second battle again. So yes, you have to start the chain over again after the cooldown period is over.

Yes. For example: You win against Lorelei, but lose against Bruno. In that case, you'd have to wait three days until you're allowed to try again and you'll have to start against Lorelei again.

Why does the my party page have this weird tip thing up top? I don't mind seeing tips sometimes but is there any way to turn it off? The light gray and the pokemon icon is sorta distracting.

how the loss work?
you have just to win against the trainer who defeated you (if you lose against blue you have just to beat him again), or like cypress you must restart with lorelei?

They work exactly like the Professor Cypress chain. So you have to beat all of that E4 again to get your second shot at their champion.

Just as a heads up, I'm closing down trinket submissions on the 15th, reset, for a fair amount of time. I have a rather daunting trinket backlog, and probably won't open it back up til late June, at the earliest.

I have a question about the Flabebe SWSH coming up. Since we're only allowed to hunt one color at a time, how do we know which color we're grabbing in the shelter since they all only say 'Flabebe Egg'? Or is that the point?

...you guys are absolutely amazing and I adore you. XD Even as I throw my arms to the heavens and let out streams of curses, I can't stop laughing even now because of how flipping amazing this month's SWSH is going to be. XD I cannot WAIT to see if we can all make it!

Actually when they are at a certain stage of hatching you can tell which color it is by the color of the crack.

The discussion was about seeing them in the Shelter, though. Once they're in the party, it straight up tells you which color it is.

Apparently if you didn't hatch the other colors they still appear as 'Mystery Eggs', while the color you hatched appears as a Flabebe egg.

So there is *one* advantage to being new...

So just to make sure, there's no way of knowing at all which Flabebe form we are taking when we grab the Egg from the Shelter right?

Also, does anyone know if you breed a Flabebe of a certain color with a Ditto, would the resulting egg still be a random Flabebe form or the parent form?

From the way it looks with my ditto and flabebe it is the parent color not a random one.

Also...has anyone else noticed that the only eggs that don't count toward your shelter grabs are the flabebe color you are hunting? Everytime I get a new egg I refresh hoping to see that number drop by 1 to herald another yellow in my party XD

At one point we could see the names of the Flabebe type. That's gone now. Was letting us see the name intentional?

It was part of a patch that's going to go out after the SWSH is over, but it was accidentally released early. At least, that's my understanding (I wasn't following the community thread discussion very closely around the time it happened).

You're correct. After the SWSH we will be able to tell between the Flabébé eggs; the fact that we were able to do so during the hunt was an accident.
