Hey all -
Recently I was wonder trading, and I got a shiny Tapu Koko...my assumption is that it's modded, but if that was the case wouldn't you not be allowed to wonder trade it? Or does that only apply to GTS and not Wonder Trading?
It seems extremely fishy
It's more likely than not hacked/modded from a pre-existing Tapu Koko.
With the PowerSaves device, it's the quickest and "safest" way to modify Pokemon with these specific credentials.
They can pass through Wondertrade and GTS easily if they are kept in the boundaries of what is possible for that Pokemon to have.
(Like a Magikarp with Flamethrower won't be able to get through, but a modded Munchlax with Counter can because it's a possible egg move.)
While it is more than likely hacked, everything about it is theoretically possible for a Tapu Koko. You could have soft reset for a shiny one (despite what a pain in the ass that would be), and you could have levelled it to have exactly 800k xp, and given it a load of PP Max and everything else - so it passes the game's legality checks, and it can be traded.
In fact if it was hacked, it was probably checked for legality before it was ever put back in the game, and there's no way that the game can tell that it's not legit.
The Tapu's are all shiny locked, however there has been a distribution for a Shiny Tapu Koko recently. Smogon were doing a http://pokemonshowdown.com/news/17 with some movesets, but it appears the one you've got is hacked.
There is an official Shiny Tapu Koko event for Japan but that was this year, so definitely hacked.
Yeah, looks to me like someone took a Koko from that event and hacked it into English. I actually didn't know the Tapus were shiny-locked, but it figures
I figured as much with the shiny lock, I was 95% certain the Tapu's were shiny-locked. Thanks all
It wasn't necessarily hacked, though I'm still betting it is. Starting with X and Y, event distributions take on the language of the game cartridge they're sent to, regardless of the region of the cartridge itself. The OT is fixed to the local language, but the Pokemon's name will be whatever language that particular recipient was playing in.
