NUUUUUUU

That and if this needs to be moved or isn't allowed, lock it or something. XD

BUT..... NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Discuss.

Posted by: Liquefy Feb 26 2008, 05:47 PM

Indeed this does suck. I hope Brawl won't be part of this "Pay to Play" bullcrap.

And mov'd.

Posted by: Darksword Feb 26 2008, 05:53 PM

This will be very annoying for me since I don't get a pay check.

I guess I can see the benefits for game developers and it might lead to better overall wi-fi gaming. (let's face it, the wi-fi gaming for wii now is very limited.)

I just hope that most of the games that have wi-fi won't be p2p.

Posted by: suzyk Feb 26 2008, 05:56 PM

Ok, t'was moved. XD Anyways, I am not paying for this crap. They may cut my wiffy, but I still have shinies and stuff. I guess I'll just have to give up Pokemon... *sadness*

My parents would hunt me down if I subscribed to it without their permission, so meh. sad.gif

As long as the current titles-including those currently out in Japan and not in the rest of the world, I.E. Brawl-, firmware updates, and current services don't become subscription based, I'm fine with it.

If you read the article, it's only going to be future titles with red Nintendo WFC logos on them... and one of the articles was saying that in the interview, they were mostly hinting at downloadble content, and not actual online play. dry.gif

Another classic example of people worrying about things too much.

So does that mean Pokemon Diamond WiFi will still be free?

I hope so. And that's all I pretty much care about.

Posted by: Darksword Feb 26 2008, 08:50 PM

i doubt it would apply do the DS since there would be no way to pay for it besides credit card.

Posted by: Lovers Tarot Feb 26 2008, 09:17 PM

They would have to modify every Diamond/Pearl game to use "Price-Fi", which would be ridiculous. So it's very likely to stay free...

did you read the article? they said only new games labeled pay to play would have a fee.

Yeah, but every time you go on WiFi, wouldn't they bill you? Even for Diamond/Pearl? (like Xbox Live, I suppose)

Posted by: CCM Feb 27 2008, 04:11 PM

I heard something bout that in Spain... it was called P3 (PPP -> Pay Per Play) but I thought wasn't true.. :S

Posted by: SlipKnoT Feb 27 2008, 04:13 PM

What a pain in the ass. >>

That's really all I have to say.

You saw it on PI didn't you

Yeah. I don't think I'll buy any new games for my DS in a while... maybe Nintendo won't actually go through with it. We can only hope.

Posted by: SlipKnoT Feb 27 2008, 04:20 PM

I don't think they'll simply give up on it, seeing as it sounds like it's pretty much final.

The Xbox people did... meh. Maybe Nintendo is fickle? I don't care now, I think. I'll just have to find friends... IN THE REAL WORLD. *dies*

where did this info come from again? somebody somewhere made it up it sounds like to me

Doubt it. Wired is a magazine, and they'd be sued by Nintendo if they said false things about them.

Posted by: Leki Feb 27 2008, 09:31 PM

This will inredbily suck.... 'cause I'm starting to really get into DS games.... :| I find the sprites adorable, and I can sit anywhere in the house, beside in a fixed spot with my other consoles.

I just would hate it if they added payment everytime you logged onto Wi-Fi. tongue.gif

Posted by: Blax8192 Mar 1 2008, 07:03 PM

I think if this is true, (or nintendo doesn't read wired) then it'll be a monthly fee at the worst, and a yearly fee at the best, the thing is, they don't need the money, DS's are still in high demand in japan THEY ARE STILL THE MOST AWESOME THING IN THE WORLD, SHOPS AREN'T KEEPING UP WITH THE DEMAND, they don't NEED the money, so most likely it'll be small, there is no way really to track a DS logging on though, I want to know where the DS goes when it goes onto the GTS and if theres a way people can access it from their computer...but if it does come down to every time you log on then 1. it'll be like one cent per logon, and 2. everybody will be utterly pissed at nintendo because they have to pay every time the wifi kicks them off because of a bad connection, so a weekly/monthly/yearly charge seems most likely, and they have no way to implement it for existing games as far as I know because there probably has to be something in the games programming for them to be able to charge us, anyway, thats all I have to say on this

Posted by: dark thunder Mar 1 2008, 07:56 PM

the thing says that its not likley for it to stretch to ds( they say it would be interesting)

Posted by: Blax8192 Mar 1 2008, 08:40 PM

It certainly would be interesting, I'm still curious as to how they plan to implement it, but it makes sense not going to DS because DS is portable and can hook up anywhere, it would require immense amounts of work, including registering your game on Nintendo s website with a unique code before being able to go online with that specific game, then registering your name and address as well as bank account information to that game and forever it would charge you for that game whenever it went online, so of course nobody would sell a used game that had been registered and nintendo would make even more money because everybody would buy new games and OMG it sounds mind bogglingly simple when I put it like that, WTF THIS CAN'T HAPPEN!!!

Blax (and other worriers) if you'd read through this thread, you'd see this:

I highly doubt Nintendo would ever go so far as to charge us to play their own games online (quote the article: "Nintendo, who has always been adamant about wanting online gameplay to be free"). If it does stretch to their own games, it will just be for bonus content. I'm pretty sure it'll just mostly be for some developers who want to create crap like MMORPGs on the Wii and want to charge people (just like they do on the computer).

Also, no one ever said anything about it being for the DS. It was only announced for the Wii, just as it has the Virtual Console. Wired said it'd be interesting to see if it does stretch to the DS or if it's restricted to the Wii (which it most likely will stay restricted).

Posted by: Blax8192 Mar 1 2008, 10:30 PM

wow, I think I lost the conversation line somewhere, my attention span lets me remember maybe the past three posts, so the worrying about ds overrode me not seeing ds in first topic(or it was there, I'm too lazy to look)*goes to look anyway* yup, you're right, wow... I feel better, I don't have a wii, I might buy the yuu when it comes out (sequel to the wii) when they've worked the bugs out

It might be for both. >.> Either way, I don't want to pay for the darned Wii or the DS.

Posted by: Blax8192 Mar 2 2008, 01:39 PM

the idea of them charging us sounds alot more dubious by the minute, zerxer really cleared it up and brought the whole thing down to earth, I'm not worried about it anymore, we all just overreacted a little too much...

Posted by: jojo Jun 3 2008, 09:42 AM

If we gotta pay they should make the service better and worth our money. but Nintendo is always been good at that though wink.gif

Posted by: Rhonut Jun 3 2008, 11:32 AM

I hope they don't make us pay for the wifi on platinum
