I go by type and evolution. Starters in front, and everything else after. I have a card holder thing, and a binder where I keep them, so it's pretty easy.

I sort them mostly by type, and a little bit of evolution

I'am a collector of rare and expensive japanese promo cards, theres no special system of sorting my cards. I have a special binder for the most expensive cards of my collection, 100 Dollar plus and some binders for the rest and the trading cards.
I'am a crazy collector, i spent much money on my card collection, but its one of my favorite hobbies featuring pokemon. |

Since my collection is in the Four digit zone ( Round 3000 cards) I Find it a pain to sort them.
I currently sorted them by Set AND type (Water in front, then fire , then grass... etc) For each set -------------------- |

I have one binder for each generation plus one for trainer and energy cards. I sort the pokemon by national number, then by set. The trainer and energy ones i sort by set and then put them in sequential order. I have a decent size set, with two of them "complete"
