Awesome band. Don't know if anyone here is into them, but if you are, it will make my day.
I'm currently playing their Blackwater Park album over and over again. For those of you with open-minded taste who want to hear something amazing... Dirge for November The Drapery Falls Warning: Do not be fooled by the mellow starts to these songs, they get HEAVY later on. If you don't like death vocals, chances are you won't enjoy either song very much at all. -------------------- |

I love Opeth. I've seen them live three times. Hooray?
If you like Opeth, you might like my second favourite band, Agalloch. Not Unlike the Waves (Their most "radio friendly" song, in my opinion. ...And The Great Cold Death of the Earth In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion Part Two -- the song is too long for YouTube videos, hah. And if it turns out that you like Agalloch, you might like Drudkh! Eternity (Sorry the sound quality is so poor... I didn't upload this.) Fading Furrows of Gods Anddddd... If you don't totally hate that, you might like... Wolves in the Throne Room Xasthur Nortt Ahab ...But chances are, you're going to hate everything I just posted. I'm sorry. I'm just passionate and I love meeting people who might "understand"... Though the chances of that happening on a Pokemon forum are pretty slim, haha. Jolty-
you are my hero. I've liked Agalloch for a while now. I only have Not Unlike the Waves, Falling Snow, And the Great Cold Death of Earth, and Dead Winter Days, but I've been meaning to get a full album. I'm thinking I'll start with Pale Folklore and get Ashes Against the Grain later. I also love Wolves in the Throne Room and have had Two Hunters on my wishlist for a while now. Awesome stuff. -------------------- |

Opeth are... eh. They have a few songs I really love (Patterns in the Ivy I and II for instance, but they have a few more good ones), but the rest...
I dunno. It seriously bugs me when a group's lead singer can really SING and yet they insist on doing this GROWLY HARDCOAR RARARARAHRAHRAHRHARRAH crap. It just bugs me. >>; -------------------- No longer available on GPX+ for now. Don't bother clicking me. Thank you. |

Death vocals in general are really polarizing, but Mikael is one of the best growlers out there, as far as I've listened anyway. And yes, his clean singing is amazing. Have you heard Harvest? Also, their whole Damnation album was clean singing, so check that out it you haven't. This post has been edited by TMG: May 7 2009, 02:09 PM -------------------- |
