First one I got besides the Red Gyarados in Silver was a Shiny Salamence from the GTS. I used Pokemon Battle Revolution to prove it was real, and indeed it was. The first one I encountered in the wild was.... A Gyarados.... in Pokemon Diamond version. I fished it up when I was EV training my Dragonite.

Shiny Gastly in the Eterna Forest, Pokémon Diamond. I remember accidentally running into it at night. It looked so pretty with the bright blue and purple colors! I caught it and.. ended up doing absolutely nothing with it afterwards. Newbie 12 years old me had not heard of shiny's, and despite that I was HYPED, I didn't really felt like grinding to get it up to the same level as my other party pokémon. And so it stayed a shiny Gastly forever until my game crashed a couple of years back due to over usage of it.

Shiny Growlithe in Silver or Gold, I think? It's been a long time.
