So, I am unsure if this is an ongoing problem or not, but alas, I was on a mission and after I've gotten a wild Pokemon, I couldn't withdraw a sixth Pokemon into my active party. This has been going on for a couple of days now, any help?

This can happen sometimes when a wild Pokemon leaves your party, but it usually goes away after a few minutes... But the New Year's Exchange reduces your party limit to 5, did you enter something?

I'd guess that it has to do with the New Years exchange, like Manah suggested. If you submitted a pokemon to the swap, your party size is reduced to 5 so that you are sure to have an open spot when the exchange gives you your new pokemon.
