First and foremost, I apoligize if a topic like this has already beeen made.
Second, I prefer to EV train my Pokemon and battle online post E4 because it's fun and I love seeing other people's strategies. -------------------- |

I do jack all with IVs but I do EV train for the most part. EV training is pretty easy, it's just IV breeding is tedious as shit.

Don't see the point if it'll just take forever. -------------------- Don't forget to love yourself. I do casual fun battling, though occasionally I EV train. I don't worry about Natures or IVs though.

I do casual until I'm done the E4 and all of the other main and post-main story stuff, then I do EV training for competitive battling, although I haven't really done either EV training or competitive battling in a long time.

In-game runs, I don't worry about it too much, though I check to satisfy my curiosity.
For anything competitive (including that accursed Battle Subway) I nature/IV breed and EV train. Absolutely necessary. -------------------- |

I honestly don't get the whole IV/EV stuff, it's really complicated for me. I just play to catch, train, breed, and have fun. I get attached to my Pokemon when I first catch or breed them. I don't like being picky about which nature or stats they have. As long as they all can get the same moves then I'm fine with them.

Usually I prefer just playing casually. People tell me that EV training only takes an hour or two, but for me it can take days or weeks, so usually unless I'm forming a specific competitive team, I usually don't bother. I take forever to get through the Pokemon games as it is.

I do jack all with IVs but I do EV train for the most part. EV training is pretty easy, it's just IV breeding is tedious as shit. Right?! I'm training Crygonal as a Sp Wall, but the freaken giant floating snowflake doesn't have a gender, so I had to use ditto to breed it. 4 days and 2 boxes later I finally got one with a calm nature. It's bad enough breeding half the shits for nature let alone IVs. But yeah, right now I'm EVing a team for the battle subway. After that...hell I don't know. I always manage to find something. I hack pokemon to go competitive, the game's stopped being fun after it cheated on me countless times. There's a touch of irony in there somewhere... I mostly do casual play, since I rarely ever battle online, and that EVs and IVs are too complicated for me.
I prefer to spend my time catching Pokemon. -------------------- Swirly swirl. |

Usually, I don't EV train; I'm just playing the game for fun. But when I leveled up my Golurk, Riser to 100, I EV trained the heck outta him. He fought anything and everything that boost Attack. He's the first I've ever made an effort to EV train and I didn't do it for competitive battling. I did it because I just wanted him to be the best Golurk possible. (I do love my giant dirt robot.)

In game: I pay attention to natures. If I want to use something with high Speed and Attack, I make sure the nature isn't detrimental to Speed and Attack. That's all.
Competitively: I breed for natures and EV train. IVs.. sometimes if I'm breeding and I get two Pokemon with the same nature, I'll pick the one with the better stats if it's visible 'xD Just the other day, I hatched three Impish Duskull in the same batch.. one had a defense of 7, and the other two had 6, so I chose the first one. But, other than that, I ignore IVs. They can be just as painful as the ones they jab in your arm at the hospital. -------------------- |

I didn't mention this earlier, but I actually do breed for IVs, nature, ability etc. It's usually worth it in the end. Although, once I learned how to RNG, it got much easier.

Casual. I just like to catch and breed and level up as high as possible without getting picky with stats.

Casual (in what extent one could call it casual). I don't have much interest in IVs and EVs (until recently, I didn't even know what that is) and it's not the kind of thing that would be much fun to me. And the good old grind always worked well, so far.
I would think more about IVs/Evs, if I'd play online, but since I don't do that... -------------------- |
