I'm shocked, no, astounded that there is not yet a topic about this (or so the search option says).
I guess nobody here follows it, but here in the Netherlands everybody is hyped about it, especially now we've made it to the semifinals. The match was really exciting, where in the first half we played like garbage, but made more than a comeback. Oh well, this is not only about the team of the Netherlands, but the Fifa World Cup 2010 in general, share your thoughts -------------------- |

NETHERLANDS TO WIN!!!
I actually searched for a topic on the World Cup earlier today as well and was a little disappointed that there wasn't one, but I think I quickly got distracted elsewhere. My country didn't make it into the World Cup this year (stupid referee in that last match against France ¬¬) but I've still been following it. I come from a football mad family so it'd be kind of weird if I didn't. When Ireland doesn't make it to the Cup my family divides all the teams between us - I got England, USA, Japan, Holland, Denmark, Cameroon, Slovenia and Algeria and of course I've been whittled down to just one team, so GEWON HOLLAND! Also the match between Paraguay and Japan was just painful to watch... -------------------- |

I was rooting for Mexico (Which has been eliminated already...) and then England, but it seems that the usually good teams are just... Failing this year. >_>
Both my mom and I laughed so badly when Brazil lost and was eliminated. Now, I'm just following England for the most part and watching a few of the other games if there's not much else on. -------------------- |

Netherlands vs. Uruguay
Germany vs. Spain I thing the Netherlands and Germany will end in the final, but both Uruguay and especially Spain can still be surprising. -------------------- |

My teams were England first and Germany second.
I feel embarrassed for England but I wasn't surprised. At least Germany is on fire. -------------------- |

GERMANY TO WIN!
I just had to say it. After the last two games, sorry England and Argentina, I just hope it's star number four for Germany. Does anybody else think the referees are the worst that have ever been in a World Cup? |

I consider watching sports to be boring, so I haven't followed soccer all that close.
I think what's going to happen; the 2010 World Cup is going to be known for Vuvuzela's. If you watch Soccer on TV, that's all you're going to hear. -------------------- |

Glad Spain won I watched all their games apart from the first. Wasn't sure if they would beat Germany really it would of been better final Spain vs Germany. Also suprisingly Germans seemed to do less fouls than Holland.
Anyone see the final? It was the most tense and bad tempered match I've seen, would probably of enjoyed it more if I wasn't bothered who won. 14 yellow cards and all deserved on both sides. I actually felt sorry for the referee having to deal with such a bad game. Yes he made a few mistakes but over all he was good. The Dutch deserved to lose just for how agressive they were to the spanish and to the referee. I was shoked at them as they are normally a fair team like Spain. -------------------- |

I'm happy that Spain won, cause I was cheering for them all the way. <3
Though, I am a little disappointed they lost to Switzerland in their opening match, at least they more than made up for it by winning the World Cup. I also kind of wish the Spain vs. Portugal game would have been better, cause it was just okay, and seeing as how those two teams were expected to be better.. I was a little disappointed with the turnout of that game. Some things I was amused by include: a) how Paul the Octopus was right; b) how Spain lost their first game but won the rest, while Netherlands won all their games except the last; and c) the Argentina Curse regarding how any team that's defeated in the knockout stage loses their next match. XD I wonder when the Curse will be broken.. :P -------------------- |
