Oo, sounds like fun! I can't wait to see all the cool designs people come up with! Maybe I'll even try my hand at one.

I was thinking of entering at first, but then I remembered that I'm horrible at spriting and such. So, my design probably wouldn't look too fancy.
So I'm just gonna sit back and watch for this one. -------------------- |

I've wanted to do this ever since I first joined! I never actually did the 2011 events since I was new, but they looked fun. Anyways, why is there a color limit? I made a really pretty design, but it had 500 or so different colors, so I had to go back and cut down on the stuff I did, so it doesn't look AS good (but I still think it looks pretty good )
-------------------- “New year, new me,” I say, laughing to my friends. Suddenly, I throw my arms out, golden light erupting from my hands and face. I scream in agony as every single cell in my body is rewritten, atom by atom. Abruptly, the light show ends and I drop my arms, coughing out a golden trail of residual energy. I am completely made new.

Looking at the first egg design contest, I'm feeling slightly intimidated. MSP works down to the pixel, but apparently the entries in the last one were able to work down beyond the pixel. I'm not letting this discourage me, though! Still, I wonder what kind of programs were they using to be able to put in that much detail.

I've always used it for spriting and I used it for my egg, too. My sig has some example of sprites I've made with it for reference. But I agree with those saying you guys should join even if your not all that artsy. I'm sure it'll be fun to design one anyways. -------------------- |

I meant any measurements that are smaller than the standard pixel, assuming those are a thing. IDK if millipixels or micropixels actually exists. But there's more detail on some of the eggs than going pixel by pixel, that's for sure.

Nope, pixels are physically the smallest possible measurement manipulable by a computer, I believe. -------------------- |

Sorry to be a noob but I just wanted to ask: are we designing eggs to look like certain new pokemon, or just designing them however we'd like?
Also could I possibly get a link to the last egg design contest, if anyone would be so kind? I can't spot it haha -------------------- |

The past egg coloring contest can be found here. We look forward to seeing your design! -------------------- |

Is there a way to check my entry in the first egg competition? I want to compare, and I haven't found it in the contest page.

Some just look like that because of the colours used looks like a nice blend going on etc. Some may have used an art program though, I'm unsure! I'm using SAI for mine (as I don't have any other) -------------------- Don't forget to love yourself. Well, most people probably use GIMP or Paint.NET or something to sprite rather than Paint, but nothing more fancy than that. But it's impossible to work with anything smaller than one pixel, that's not a thing. They were able to use so much detail by blending colours together and that sorta thing - I don't know how much of that you can do with only 64 colours though. -------------------- |

Just 2 questions:
1)Does the mode have to be RGB? 2)Is 64 the max or minimum colour? -------------------- |

I believe 64 colors is the maximum. That's quite a bit of leg-room, actually. As for RGB, I don't know.

Ovi-r here, I'm wishing the best of luck to everyone!
This seems fun, I'm already eggs-tastic over this. I already submitted my entry, just waiting for it to get egg-cepted. ...These egg puns are so eggs-ellently cheesy, I could make a tasty omelette with them. |
