When you think about it...
Ice type pokemon trump Dragons, which some believe to be the most powerful, Flying Grass and ground. However iirc all dragon types learn a fire move ,bar Hidden Power, meaning if they are speedy enough they can get rid of the ice types. Flying types are used rarely in competitive play making this not much of an advantage, Grass is taken out by fire and other moves which are far more common than the 12 attacking Ice moves(Fire has 16). Ground is whipped by water aswell, so this is a toss-up. Ice moves include Haze and Mist which get rid of stat changes and prevent them. Ice types get the Hail weather effect, which damages foes for 1/16 of hp, it also gives Blizzard 100% Accuracy, since Blizzard is a ice type it gets STAB aswell. Water types Trump Fire Rock and Ground. Fire types are somewhat common, so this is a plus. Rock types have plenty of weaknesses so this isn't really a huge thing. Ground types again are hit by both equally. Water moves include Aqua ring which cancels out weather effects like leftovers does, and withdraw which boosts Def one stage. Water types get the Rain Dance weather effect, while this doesn't damage opponents it boosts water moves by 50% add that to STAB and you are in business. It makes Thunder 100% accurate but its a electric move which means no STAB for water. It also doubles speed for Swift Swimmers heals HP for Rain Dish and Dry skin pokemon, and Cure Status for Hydration ability users. There is far more Water types than Ice types. Water types also get 1/2 damage resistance when hit by a Ice move. For me when you look at types it would be water. Besides I can't resist a smexy Gyarados -------------------- |

in my opinion i dont like either one of those types
you just need an electric pokemon with fighting attacks to beat the two types and my fav type is fire so water is like the opposite -------------------- |

Water Types are obviously better since they all can use at least one ice attack. Not only that I love empoleon.

Ice is better. Ice can be froslass, so no fighting weakness, and while I use my quag more than my froslass, if quag was just water, I wouldn't use it as much.

I'm partial to the Water Pokemon - go piplup! - since they cancel fire types, which as someone stated, are common, I think they are more powerful. They have far better moves than Ice - name some good moves? Aqua Ring, Brine... Oh and water types are always good to have around because you have to use Waterfall and Surf in the game sometimes.

Both stink, for sure. I'm a fire fan so water, yeah, it's not good. Plus there's too many water type. Not a fan at all.

I seem to like Ice-types more, but I would say that water is better.

I like water types. I grew up enjoying swimming, so yeah. Although ice Pokemon does = instant cooler, so I guess it'd depend on the circumstances.

The better type would be water because ice sucks against fighting types.
