You've probably watched the original series, and if not, I highly recommend you do. The original cartoon anime series was about a young and energetic, [one hundred and] 12 year old young Airbender named Aang, (the last of his kind) who was found in an iceberg after 100 years in the Southern Water tribe by Katara, a young Waterbender and the last or her kind in the South Pole, and Sokka, a sarcastic and meat-loving 15-year old who in the beginning, a bit sexist towards women, saying that they can't do anything a man can. As a group, they go through a fun and dangerous adventure to have Aang learn to "bend" the 4 elements as they journey through the Northern Water tribe, Earth Kingdom, and Fire Nation (in that order). Aang learns about The War and the Fire Nation; The War was started by a horrible Fire Nation tyrant named Sozin a hundred years ago in order to conquer all the other nations for power, and to "rebuild from the ashes a new nation." The Fire Nation and Fire Lord Ozai are the main antagonists in the series. The entire anime series was a big success, and I was personally sad that it ended, but I'm very grateful that the creators made a spin off series. It takes place 70 years after the end of the War, and the new Avatar, Korra, is now 16 and must learn Airbending in the United Republic in order to complete her destiny. She faces many obstacles, sch as Amon, the leader of a group of people who use chi-blocking and hate the idea of bending elements. The first two episodes can be viewed here. DISCUSS.
