Depending on where you grew up and what values you were raised to have, feminism can seem like an outrageous idea, or something worth supporting. Discuss your opinions here.

As defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary:


Being a feminist myself, I believe in gender equality. In today's society (or at least in the United States), people use the word feminist as though it is an insult.

This is primarily due to the fact that the radical feminists, who believe women should be better than men, often smear the word for the rest of us who simply want equal footing for both women and men.

I feel that wanting equal social rights is a positive thing. There are people, however, who believe that everything is fine the way it is. I'm assuming that the same people believe that there is no longer racism in today's society either, but there most certainly is.

Regardless, I feel that the fact that it's viewed as a bad thing goes along with the fact that the few (the radical feminists) outweigh the many (the rational feminists).
