Hullo.
I'm just curious how many forum members appreciate this genre of music, as it hasn't had any mainstream exposure since the 80's-90's (outside of some of The Cure's pop-ier stuff). Alot of people will lump gothic rock into a group alongside Industrial, metal, or, more recently, even emo. However, it's a distinct sound which has influenced many of today's best acts, like Nine Inch Nails or The Smashing Pumpkins. Note: gothic rock is not about wearing black, slitting one's wrists, and "not fitting in". Hot Topic is not associated with the gothic rock movement, past or present (besides the exceedingly rare Cure t-shirt here and there). Meaning, if you're thinking of Evanesence, Nightwish, or Marilyn Manson, you're thinking of the wrong thing. Are there any fellow enthusiests of this lost art form? |

Oh! Me! Pick me!
*waves arm frantically* No, seriously hahaha, I do listen to gothic rock. I don't have a particular favorite genre of music but i love most any genre. (except for the fact that Oingo Boingo will always be my favorite band) And, if you're wondering, I am part of the Gothic Volunteer Alliance and I go to bats day every year -------------------- |
