I'm probably the only one who thinks this, but I think nintendo or game freak, or whoever designs the pokemon is losing their touch. crazy.gif The starters are downright ugly and almost all the new pokemon either look exactly like a real life animal or closely resemble an already existing pokemon. For example, mamepato (the new common bird) looks exactly like a pigeon. I like pokemon better when they look like something someone could have never imagined, like zoroa and zoroark for example. Also, gear is just... stupid. Stupid name and stupid look. And this is probably just a hunch, but I swear I've seen those legendaries before. o_O2.gif Anyone agree? (If this belongs in the rant zone, please move!)

It all depends on what you're into, and sometimes certain pokemon need some time to sink in before you even like them a little bit.

Oh, and then there's the people who'll be dissatisfied no matter what becomes created! Seriously, stop playing pokemon if this has become the case. It's over. Done. Finished. No more fun for you.

It's different people designing them each generation.

You can't blame a whole company. Only a few people.

I don't think so. i mean, i kinda like the real animal look. and not every pokemon has that. and if you go and tell me that heatran or uxie or azelf or blaziken look the same as a real animal, then your crazy. and in case you haven't noticed, the kanto pokemon look A LOT like the animals they were based off of (sandshrew = armadillo alert!).

It's not Nintendo, it's Game Freak. Nintendo themselves are making great games. Game Freak is losing it.

As for crappy new pokemon, I'm wanting to strangle the person that came up with these monstrosities:

The second one is meh, but the other two are disgraces to the pokemon name...

I'm liking a lot of the new Pokemon. I hope they have some unique types or strategies.

It's GameFreak that does the designs, Nintendo is their publisher.

Also, this Pokebeach article sums things up nicely. The Pokemon designs have all had a degree of inconsistency from generation to generation because they don't have the same team of Pokemon designers working on each game. Black and White most likely has new designers and this is what they've come up with.

Just wait until all of the new Pokemon from Black and White have been around for a few months or so. They'll probably grow on you.

Well, like some others have said, I think we just need to wait until they're actually released (and we have the games in our little mitts) before we decide if we like or not. I remember looking at the fourth generation and going 'What the...?' when I first heard about it. After playing the games and seein' 'em all, they seem to fit in well with the other Pokemon.

Exactly...normally people are complaining they look nothing like animals.

Like every gen, I've like some Pokemon and hated some others.

Oh Yeah!

If you don't like the new pokemon, there's a very simple solution:

Don't buy the game!

I personally like every new pokemon that's come out so far and can't wait to see the rest.

^Freakin' THIS.

They look like animals. They look like Digimon. They look like Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters. They look like kids' drawings. It's tiring to read the same thing over and over again Gamefaqs, here, Youtube, other forums... We don't even have HQ Sugimori art for a handful of them yet.

See, if a Poke like Voltorb was introduced this gen instead of in R/B/Y, it would getting the same reception as Gear. Similarly, "Mew, a pink legend? Magnemite, a floating magnet? Seel, a seal spelled with two e's? GAMEFREAK SUX."

Sometimes stuff like this is just a case of nostalgia. I, on the other hand, love the starters, legends, and all of the current B/W Pokes except the black tree thing, Munna, and the green alien.

The Vocaloids

Whenever I hear stuff like this, it reminds me of this image, just because it simply fits, and PurpleKecleon is right about everything they made into that comic.

I don't understand what the whole 'omg game freak are running out of ideas.' when something 'generic' appears, and then saying the same thing when they try something different, like the Sarcophagus pokémon.

Some posts in this thread make sense, though, like John's and Thale's.

I, personally, am looking forward to seeing all the new pokémon that will be released, because I like some of the designs that have been released.
Not all of them, but that's because not all of them tickle my fancy, but there you go.

I'm gonna wait and see what happens. But I do dislike that green and white ghost-like thing. It's probably my least favorite of all the leaked and released species.

Personally, I like most of the B/W Pokemon, especially the yin and yang theme for legendaries.
But I don't like that monstrosity that looks like some foe from SSBB with pigtails.
And the green ailen.
And I hate how everybody is complaining that the starters are too "cute". They're supposed to be small, cute Pokemon and then grow into 2ND STAGE AWESOMENESS! grin.gif
And if you think the new Pokemon aren't unique, take a look at Squirtle. No offence, but Squirtle is just a blue turtle with an overgrown tail.(Sorry, Squirtle fans. I like Squirtle too.) AND NOBODY CARES.
