April is a very special month for site-creator Zerxer and myself. We are having had a baby! To celebrate the occasion, we're hosting a similar event to the Valentine/Anniversary event where you hatch eggs of specific Pokémon to collect an event item, which you'll be able to exchange for prizes.

The event will run from the 16th until the 30th of April, at site reset. (April 15th 11:55pm EDT -> April 30th 11:55pm EDT).

When the event begins at the designated time, the following Pokémon will be eligible to hatch with the event item:

• Cleffa
• Igglybuff
• Pichu
• Togepi
• Tyrogue
• Smoochum
• Elekid
• Magby
• Azurill
• Wynaut
• Budew
• Chingling
• Bonsly
• Mime Jr.
• Happiny
• Munchlax
• Riolu
• Mantyke
• Phanpy
• Sewaddle

Zerxer edit: Also, today (April 13th) is Jen's birthday! In honor of that, enjoy the special Triple Plus for the day, and there will be a Chatotiel distribution at 4pm EDT with an extra chance of getting a shiny! Be sure to leave a space open in your Party, although receiving an egg is not guaranteed. Sorry for the late notice on that.

UPDATE: (April 15th)

This event is similar to several of our past hatch-based events, however I built an entirely new system for it, one that allows us to easily manage these events in our admin panel vs me having to edit code directly every time.

On top of that, these events will now use Coins, similar to the Dreidel event (the dreidel is not active, though). Because of that, everyone's Coin stat has been reset to 0 again.

Finally, to earn prizes, there will be a brand new section in the shop called Event Shop where you will spend your Coins on prizes. We've also introduced the idea of limits through a "Stock" -- this stock is per-user, rather than site-wide the way the Backroom works. This section of the shop is not yet available on the mobile site, but I plan to add it.

This is a brand new system that I built out yesterday and today, so it's practically a beta. If you get any errors or see any weirdness, please let me know! I will likely be making updates to it over the event, such as adding more information to the top of the Event Shop and adding something to the notifications in the header.

For events like this, the Event Shop will remain active for 1 full month after the actual event ends. So you will have a month (all of May) to make sure you spend your coins before the shop goes away and your coins get reset.

UPDATE: (April 29th)

The event shop is now available on the mobile website. You'll see a new "Event Shop" tab on the bottom of the page when you're on the Shop section of the mobile site.

On the non-mobile website, an amulet coin icon is now present in the top right notifications, above the Pass Counter. This will be present when an event like this is active, will tell you how many coins you currently have, and clicking on it will take you to the event shop.

I noticed the boosts jump in right before getting off-site and heading to bed, so I waited around to see what was going on. Glad to see I wasn't just going a bit crazy!

Side note: I'm definitely hitting that part of my life where everybody around me is starting to or has already gotten married and are having kids... Man, time flies (and I feel like an old fart in a way).

May I suggest adding Blue Magikarp and Pink Magikarp to the pool?
Why? Well, because those colors were used for babies after all! The sex doesn't matter, since Pink was used for boys and Blue for girls first, and then swapped around, and Magikarp IS a nice Pokemon since just look at it:
They grow and train and when you least expect it they turn into a Gyarados, and they don't look alike, just like how we go through puberty (and then adulthood)! ; W;

So, I'm just throwing the suggestion here. Also because I love chaotic events and hatching events are GREAT, BUT I understand if you guys don't want to, it's no biggie!



Anyway, CONGRATS AGAIN JEN! And, AGAIN, congrats Nick and Jen! And welcome Zoey!

Edited again, but now with a list of maturity for all the baby Pokemon so far! ('Cause we still miss the Karps.... Maybe? -wink wink nudge nudge-)

Just a heads-up, the new pokémon added in this event (not spoiling what it is, check the shop and you'll see it!) could be included in this list too.
Last I checked, that pokémon was considered a baby pokémon by the games just like most of the list, and it's inevitable we'll see more eggs of it (other people will probably get their own and breed/shiny hunt it during the event anyway). Might as well give them another reason to do that

I like it. Finally, a true contest for tryhards with some nice stuff for everyone. Though I will miss the allure of mystery prizes... I wonder if this same coin system will still be used for Hanukkah? Will the coin counter be reset between events, or could you save coins for future events?

It will reset. The shop will be available for 1 full month after an event ends (so for this event, all of May). The shop will then go away, and coins will reset at some point before whatever the next event is happens.

Yeah, the Dreidel event will still use coins, and will likely use this new shop system instead of the old "top coin earners" reward system at the end of the event. Thankfully I have plenty of time still to really think about it.

I just tried buying a Toxel. I have 51 coins, and open space in my party. I select Toxel Egg, select how many I would like to buy (1), and select "yes" when it asks "are you sure?"

It keeps telling me "Invalid prize selected."

sorry if this is the wrong thread for this, but the event shop seems to be bugged. Each item I try to buy comes up as 'invalid prize selected'.

Also pokemon sprites aren't visible in the PC

Seconding the "invalid prize selection" bug, and if it helps to solve it faster, I'd like to point out that the "how many would you like to buy?" popup tells me it costs 50 points (not coins) and tells me that I have 563,334 points available (which is not accurate to my coins, 82, nor my actual points, 28.17M). In fact, I don't see any statistic on the site that I have 563,334 in, as far as I can tell.

Thirding? Fourthing? this issue - though, for me, the massive number it's showing me is the total number of the prize I can purchase, based on my total points divided by the coin cost. (In my case, it's 27k-something Calcium that I can buy, and I have 418k-something points but only 17 coins lol)

Nick apparently knows what's causing it already, I gather that it's the new page on the shop reading cached data from somewhere else. Though now I'm curious what exactly it's reading from? Anyway, the fix is to hard refresh, I've seen a few people fix it that way and not seen it recur for anybody.

Also, my plan from earlier has already gone awry as I got my Magma Totodile two eggs later!

Yeah, the "Invalid prize selected" is because your browser is still using an outdated shop.js file (that "How many?" popup shouldn't be there either, for example, but the outdated file doesn't know how to treat this new section).

A hard refresh or manually clearing your browser cache would've fixed it, however I put in a cache bust now (just a little extra query param at the end of the shop.js url to trick your browser in to thinking it's a different file, and load the latest copy).

So you all should be good to buy prizes now!

Hey guys I'm confused. I am hatching eggs (mostly togi & pichu) and not all the Pokemon that I hatch have coins. Is that normal for this type of event? Also HELLO AGAIN!!!! It's been forever since I have been back really. Nice to see you all again!!!!!!

Yes, it's normal that the event Pokemon only have a chance to drop coins, not guaranteed.

Anecdotally, I would estimate that the chance is somewhere around 70% to 80%, but I can't say for sure, of course, since I'm not on staff so I can't see back-end data like that.

I am having the very slight problem with the correct amount of coins I've earned showing. I'm not sure if it is a cache issue or not but my actual points work fine; it's just for each pokemon that I am notified of a coin, I only show having 2 coins.
I started the event late, so I haven't lost a goldmine, but if anyone has the answer

We added Sewaddle because of the amount of times we've had to swaddle our baby.

Phanpy is there because we ended up with an elephant theme for her, so we had to include that.

drat. I saved up for a shiny novelty voucher but not all novelties are listed there ;A; (I was doing it purely to get a shiny zergoose so I could turn it into its feral form.) Now I have to rethink my pick XD are there plans on adding a shiny novelty voucher plus with the admin pokemon?

More than likely not, given how there's an achievement for the shinies (Office Wars) Unless there's a way to make the achievement not pop from voucher shines I don't think it'll be possible

I wanted to give a big thanks for the new event shop! It has been so, so helpful to see all of the prizes available and the coins needed for each ahead of time in order to plan out enough time to participate to get the prizes I want. I don't think I'll be able to get EVERYTHING I want, but I should at least be on track to get my very most wanted prize (shiny legend voucher to finally get my beloved shiny Articuno!)

Even with me putting in my maximum effort I don't think i'm gonna get enough coins for the SHiny Legend Voucher Plus, as a good chunk of eggs did not yield coins.

BUT I did hatch 4 shiny babies and a shiny darkrai so maybe it'll be alright settling for a Sh. Voucher. I just feel for the future we should be able to either save our coins or the event should guarantee coins instead of possibly not having coins.

Well, one thing that I kinda wished would've carried over from the Hanukkah event was getting a free 20 coins when you complete that day's Scavenger Hunt task.
That way, I'd've had 320 extra coins

Yes. It's the same with corruptable Legendaries. If you get a shiny Lugia egg and corrupt it to Shadow Lugia, it will still be Shiny

i was SO CLOSE to getting a prize. i had 598 coins. then when i hatched the last two eggs, BAM. site reset. i ended up doing all that work for NOTHING.

I may tweak coins for future events, for the better. We'll see what happens.

Definitely won't let coins be saved, as effort put in to this event should not count towards the prizes of future events, you know?

After a last-minute push in the last few hours of the event, I managed to JUST squeak over 700 coins. So I'll be able to get my Shiny Legendary Voucher Plus, an N-Lunarizer to be able to get that Necrozma form for my dex, and 57 extra coins to do something with. I'm thankful that we have a month to decide, since it will probably take me a month to decide, LOL.

In any case, I got enough coins for a Shiny Novelty Voucher, which I will hold off on using for now until I get my hands on another Shiny Voucher to effectively guarantee the "Lucky Day" achievement.

I wonder, would it be possible to add something to the Event store that costs 1 coin? It drives me sorta bonkers that I can end up with an uneven amounts of coins but everything in the prize shop is in 5s and 10s. Since we can't carry over coins between events nor are we guaranteed coins on hatches it seems kinda extra unfair somebody could waste up to 4 coins with each event.

I had this problem with the Easter/V-Day/Halloween tickets. No matter how well I math I'm stuck with an uneven number of tickets in my inventory until the event resets and then they're gone. I can't sell them off either. They're as bad as the Slowpoke Tails I keep getting from scratch cards and have no use for.

Even if the 1 coin prize was something incredibly silly like one of the VS Seeker items or a trinket box or something common like that, I'd be glad for it. Anything to not waste coins!

Edit: Forgot to say though that I did really enjoy the event and am really excited for future ones regardless. This would just make them even better imo.

I like that 1 coin one idea, I'm the same way and like to get rid of the extra lol. Maybe 1 one coin equals one regular point?

This was so much fun though! And 'll be honest, I like this method better then the Hannukuh event's structure - probably because it's less competitive? Like, it gives everyone a chance to go for the prize they want the most, without having to compete against some of the more hardcore players to get into a top slot which is extremely difficult.

And that's coming from someone who often is in those top slots. But it's because I tend to set down my entire life for two weeks to vy for it lol. It also tends to result in a *lot* of burn out. It's like that Avengers meme.
