After the last trinket set was released, I think interest in trinkets will be going downwards going forward. This is because users like myself, who have a complete or close to complete trinket collection will stop collecting and trading trinkets. One of the fundamental challenges this site has is that users are completing content much faster than new content is being added.

My suggestion is that when you have a complete collection of trinkets, you can redeem one of each trinket to get a sufficiently satisfying reward. When I say complete collection, this may or may not include the seasonal sets, as these will still get expanded.

This achieves two things. Firstly, users who complete the trinket collection can keep collecting trinkets instead of simply being in a finished state. This will help others because trading is important to collecting trinkets. Secondly, it acts as a motivational factor to users who aren't actively working on their trinket collection. Having this reward to look forward to will make more users think that trinkets is an aspect of the site that is worth their time, which also will help more users do trades. Ultimately it will be good for users who have a less complete trinket collection and are struggling to make trinket trades.

Along with this suggestion itself, I would like to ask for the option reset all offer hidings in the trinket market. If I am ever going to set my trinket collection back and move from there, I have hidden many offers that would become relevant again. Actively going back to check hidden offers is simply something that will not happen on my part due to the amount of trinkets I have on the market. I feel that this feature is going to be implemented much more easily than the more advanced improvement to the trinket market that I would also like to happen.

Unfortunately I do not see why we should be able to redeem trinkets for a reward.

Isn't it enough that we can convert 1-4 Rarities into Sky Gifts?

Sky gifts don't serve the same purpose for a couple of reasons. The fact that they are limited to rarities 1-4 is a start. Sky gifts were implemented to be a "solution" to the "problem" of getting many of some trinkets over and over again when you want to get others. Presumably it's there because you get a lot more low rarity trinkets than the higher rarities, to a point where you will quite quickly obtain all the trinkets of lower rarity. That is a fundamentally different problem than the one my suggestion potentially solves. On top of that, you an obtain a lot of sky gifts, meaning that the items you get from them will not have that high of a value to you. This means that sky gifting doesn't have long lasting motivational power. The fact that most sky gifts you send are sent to random users don't help either. Some of us aren't particularly motivated by pure altruism. The fact that you can send one to someone on your mutual pal pad does help a little as it gives you a way to trade sky gifts and thus get back a good fraction of what you sent by cooperating with someone who wants the same. It's a cumbersome way to get stuff, but that's ultimately not the point of sky gifts. Lastly, and most importantly, there's no need to make sky gifts out of trinkets you can't obtain yourself. This means that the system does not encourage users to trade trinkets.

Okay, I think I understand a little more now.

I notice in your original post you neglected to state what "a sufficiently satisfying reward" is.

What did you have in mind?

To be honest, I haven't thought too much into what the reward should be. I think that task is better left to the staff. I will say though, that I would like it to be something that is rare enough to motivate for more than one completion.

Would another solution to the waning interest in Trinkets be expanding the rarities that could be converted into Sky Gifts?

Or perhaps that is another topic.

So the goal of having a reward for completion of sets would be more users collecting Trinkets so there would be more use of the Market?

I just want to see if i understand.

That's one goal, yes.

Ok, so you also want there to be something to click so that all hidden offers are re-shown instead of having to check each trinket individually.

I guess that makes sense.

But then wouldn't it be easier to just get rid of the option of hiding offers in the first place?

The point is that some trinkets that I have previously hidden might become good candidates again later especially if I shave off one of every trinket I have. It's not that hiding trinket offers isn't a valuable feature. Without hiding offers it would not be feasible to have even a reasonable amount of trinket up on the market, since there will always be offers that I don't want to accept.

Ah, I think I get it now.

True, many times I've received non-Holiday offers for my Holiday trinkets.

Why not a kind of trinket exchange? You give X many of the same trinket to get one of a higher rarity, and for the highest rarities (probably 8, 9, and 10), you get a reward instead. So, for example, you have 20 of the same rarity 5 trinket and exchange them for a rarity 8. That trinket means you have 15 of that particular trinket, and you exchange those for PP/a handful of credits/a few sky gifts for yourself/whatever. That way, people are constantly trying for the higher-rarity trinkets, the lower rarities are constantly being cycled out so they don't get to insane numbers, and there's still a prize at the end.

Par-taay.

If we're all throwing out suggestions, I might as well throw out mine. Like a SWSH, how about a site-wide trinket hunt?
For this, I'd imagine there would be twenty or so trinkets (individual trinkets or multiple trinkets of varying quantities) that are posed for the users to get.

I wouldn't want to get too specific with such a theoretical idea, but would this idea be valid? It could be a user-created event, of course.
