Seaorin. The perfect city in the kingdom of Aludove. Crime rates are nonexistent. For a port city, it has remarkably never been raided since the beginning of the lapč, nor have raids been needed. There are no hungry, jobless, or homeless. Since the peace, the lapč, started, there have been no need for trained soldiers, but they are trained nonetheless. They still do well in the ranged and melee combat they are trained in, however, it is never needed and eventually forgotten. It is a formality after two hundred years to keep training soldiers, and they often are seen contenting themselves with something other than battle training. There is no need for an army with the Vle safely outside of the city walls. The alchemists, who traditionally had been the counterparts the soldiers, have taken to healing the accident injuries around town and using their magic to give stunningly beautiful street performances.

During this time, the engineers have evolved their art to include the technologies, and created many of the technologies in Seaorin. Robots are loved by all and mutant pets, while controversial, are favorites of families. While engineers create everything in Seaorin, when simply “engineer” is said, people think of the mechanized weapons and advanced technology. They do, however, create clothes, food, regular weapons, and anything else the townspeople need. When they have created said goods, they hand them over to a merchant, who may well be in their family, as merchants generally specialize in a type of engineering for their shop. Some do collect game from the gatherers instead, as meat is a staple in Seaorin. There are other crafts in Seaorin, but many still try to call these artisans alchemists, soldiers, merchants, engineers, and gatherers.

The walls of the city protect the city, a forest and river, and the castle. The castle has a courtyard, for the nobility and servants that live there. The king and queen of Aludove, Zanian and Eilrath, live within the castle. They inherited the power during the lapč, the time of visas. People, including even the highest of nobility, must have a visa to enter and exit the walls of Seaorin. Visas are simple to get, but few people seek to obtain one. As this remains the norm, the king and queen see no reason to tamper with the system that keeps their people safe.

Zanian and Eilrath, like all the people in Seaorin, know the story of the Great Queen Marsys, who brought the lapč. Before the Great Queen came, the Vle disrupted the life in Seaorin. They had ever since Eleak the Great founded the city. They stole, killed, and were dishonest people. They made people distrustful of each other, they made the people afraid. It was not until Queen Marsys that the Vle were finally rooted from the capital, the walls were built, and the visas were created. For the first time, Seaorin was safe. The visas were created to keep the peace, as they had a specific departure and arrival date printed on them, which were carefully recorded. If the departed did not return within three days of the arrival date, a party of soldiers and alchemists went on a search for them. If they were not found within a week, they were assumed killed by the Vle. To prevent a disaster to arise, the Great Queen also declared that all who committed crime where to be removed from the city, as they were also Vle. It was only within the first twenty years of the newfound lapč that this was a problem. Once in a while, there will be a Vle found, but the only comments are ever “oh, what a shame” and “they were so nice, too.” The Inner Vle was then never discussed again, as no one wanted to be associated with an unwanted. To be a Vle, especially, and Inner Vle, was to be lesser, to be taboo. As such, few people seek to acquire visas to leave the security of the city walls.

Seaorin does, however, have one dark spot on the bright and bustling map. One neighborhood is all but abandoned. At the beginning of the lapč, the Great Queen would go around the city and greet her people, befriending some of them. In one neighborhood by the wall, she was assassinated. The Inner Vle was quickly found and was exiled and a memorial was erected in her memory, but that made no difference to the people. They did not want to be associated with who was considered by all to be the worst Inner Vle. All but the brother of the assassin, Jeremie Kraman, fled the area, leaving him to care for Queen’s Lane with his family. Some townspeople are seen coming and going from the neighborhood, but everyone assumes that they bring food and essentials for living to the family, as the Kramans are always maintaining the abandoned lane to the best of their ability.

During their solitude, the Kramans have learned a carefully kept secret in the Seaorin. They have discovered the estrikti. Fifty years ago, one of the Kraman caretaker’s daughters, a girl no older than sixteen, was declared a Vle. The oldest boy, Robert, was smitten with this girl and wanted to know how she could possibly be a Vle. After years of careful searching, he found that she had gotten too close to finding the reason the true power of Seaorin: the estrikti. The estrikti is a small branch of nobility that brands people as Vle when they discover, or come too close to discovering, the truth about Seaorin. The truth being that there is no inherent difference between Vle and Seaorians, that the Vle are treated harshly and taxed heavily, that more people are taken from the city and killed than are taken and exiled. Robert kept his discovery a secret, hoping that someday people would listen.

In the present day, a small rebellion group is forming. People who had loved ones mysteriously disappeared, estrikti children who doubted their families’ ways, a few Vle, and the Kramans form this group. However, they keep their revolution quiet. The estrikti have taken and executed Seaorians without the common person noticing or caring; the estrikti have more power than their highnesses. Just storming the walls with a few scattered troops from Caiatra, the pseudo-capital of the Vle, would only give more fuel for the estrikti, perhaps causing a revolution that truly put them in power. Everything is in limbo, swinging precariously between justice and injustice, peace and war, estrikti and Vle.

~HELLO~

Hope this is right. =x Indent looks so pretty too, lol. And btw, the first post spoiler is a little derped. Spoiler tags turning into div tags and all.

Name: Alice Conway
Gender: Female
Actual Age: 3
Appeared Age: 19
Vle or Seaorian:Seaorian
Affiliation: Alice's affiliation is that of neutral which is primarily so due to two reasons. Firstly, due to her limited knowledge of general things, including the conflict between Vle and Seaorian, she has little experience with such matters and so has a limited opinion on them. Her lack of knowledge is partially due to her age and her father's desire to keep her out of the conflict. Secondly, her affiliation will be whatever her father's is, regardless of what reasoning he has to taking said side. Loving of her father despite their non-biological bond, she will always follow in his footsteps, him being the wiser of the two. Therefore, her affiliation is ultimately not her choice but her father's, although he does not know this.

This being said, Alice can play any role, depending on her father's wishes. While she is limited in terms of combat and weaponry she still remains a robot, a being which is considered to have no life other than one which is to serve. Therefore, to many she is seen as simply an extension of her father rather than a being of her own, which to some extent is true. While she has her own thoughts and feelings, she will do whatever her father says regardless of what it is. After all, he was the one who took her in and cared for her as if his daughter and so she owes him a debt that she wishes to fulfill to the best of her abilities.

Class: Being a robot, Alice's class is slightly harder to determine. Strictly beginning as a street performer, she had little place within the caste system but after being found by her father she has taken up the class of Engineer In-Training. Her class is naturally determined by her father, who is an engineer himself. However, due to the fact that she is a robot rather than a human she is not a full engineer. The simple fact of the matter is that she only understands her internal workings but cannot repair them herself. Therefore, she is only an engineer in-training being she has limited knowledge on the subject. She does hope that in time she will learn enough about her workings that she could help her father rather than putting such work on him.

Specialization: Due to her robotic being, her specialization is naturally machines. This also is not surprising due to her father's specialization in machines, which naturally would be passed on to her, her being his child. Her father is however limiting in the details of her internal workings. Telling no one and keeping such secrets as her actual power source from even her, he hopes to protect her from others who might see her as a possible advancement or tool to be used. So her knowledge of even herself is limited but for good reason and because of this she does not question the matter further, although, it would please her if she had a better understanding of such things.

Secondary Class: Alice's secondary class would be that of gatherer. Being what she is and the number of years which she has lived she has little knowledge of general things and therefore she 'gathers' everything she can. Items, words, whatever she likes that she doesn't understand. Often this can lead to trouble as she doesn't have a full grasp on the term ownership. This would be due to her father who explained the term loosely as to not apply the term to their relationship. Most would refer to her as her father's property after all rather than her own being and therefore such terms as ownership or any others of the like are difficult to understand.

Specialization: Curious and unafraid to question, Alice gathers knowledge being she has so many years to make up for. Being as young as she is and having lived the life she did in her first year, she knew very little when her father took her in. Seeing this, he began to teach her everything and anything, creating her curiosity and need for information. Her greatest wish is to understand everything around her, including herself. Such knowledge is difficult as it presents not only information which is good but also bad. Therefore, her knowledge of bad things is even more limiting than her general knowledge, due to her father's wish to keep her innocent of such things.

Appearance: Standing at 5'7", Alice is a highly realistic robotic being at first glance. While it is true that her physical appearance is that of humanoid and her features highly authentic in terms of actual human characteristics, she is in all making a robot. With clever covering and a creative eye the majority of her key features which define her as being robotic rather than human are easily concealed, however; they are all in plain sight. Each covering is only a trick of the eye which means to present the outer appearance of a human while concealing the inward appearance of that of a robot. Despite this, to any with knowledge of robots will easily be able to tell the difference and proper heritage of Alice. In addition, her hair, which is a far harder physical feature to create, is a key indicator of her robotic creation. Therefore, her humanoid appearance is almost an illusion to the viewer which can easily be broken by the proper eye.

Much like those humans of Seaorin, Alice's skin is that of a slightly light tan. Due to her robotic heritage, it is clean and devoid of the common blemishes that adorn the human figure. Therefore, it looks both appealing and attractive, however; due to its metal substance it is often cold to the touch due to its bright coloring. This is not to say that her body cannot become warmed as a human would from standing in the sun for an extended period of time, but there is a limit to how warm she can become as becoming too warm can cause internal damage. Additionally, while the majority of her skin is this tan color there are portions which are dark grey or black in color. This secondary metal is of a stronger quality than the first and so is applied to areas of heavy use, such as the arms and legs. Spanning from her toes to one-third of the distance of her thigh and from her fingers to one-third of the way up her upper arm is this secondary metal which for the most part is visible. To those looking from a distance these portions appear to be stockings and gloves rather than their true identity.

Also like Seaorin's, Alice's eyes are that of a soft red. The color is not the most astonishing quality however, but the simple fact that they can be used for sight like those of a human's. Such an advancement is both incredible and intriguing. No doubt it is one of the harder components to create and so the life like quality they possess is awe inspiring, yet, not all that uncommon. Additionally, the same sort of awe can be applied to the sense of hearing which too his advanced to that of the level of humans, although concealed in an unorthodox manner of appearance. While the ears do not portray a great sense of personality, the eyes do, even with their mechanical base. Truthfully speaking, her eyes do not physically change being their substance is stagnant and definite in terms of physical condition, however; it is through the manipulation of body features which creates the sense of 'life' behind such eyes. Therefore, such emotions as curiosity, anger, sadness and others can be portrayed despite some believing that such a creature as that Alice is cannot feel such things as emotions.

Being that her outer appearance is that of sleek metal, her clothes and hair service as means of hiding the most obvious of robotic features. The most obvious physical robotic trait which Alice portrays is contained in that of her face which consists of her eyes and mouth. Both have been upgraded extensively to allow for a more realistic look yet these two items are the most easily spotted differences between her and the average human. Her eyes due to their somewhat glassy or fake appearance, despite their excellent placing within the frame of her face. Her mouth due to the manner in which it opens being it cannot function in the same manner in which that of a human's does and so is wider than tall, presenting a slightly demonic look. In addition, her voice is somewhat off pitch to that that would be expected of a girl of her size. This is partially due to the technology which creates the sound as well as the effect a metallic body has upon the vibrations as she speaks. Despite this odd quality, she has leant to speak relatively clearly and as long as someone doesn't become distracted by the manner in which she is speaking she can convey what she means quite easily.

Due to the nature in which the metallic covering of her frame is attached, there are no bolts which hold the outer form together but rather a slip mechanism which is held by sliding two notched pieces of metal together and so creating a locking mechanism. Therefore, her 'skin' is smooth and well finished in that the seams are so well placed that they are almost invisible to the eye. So the change in color of metal is not surprising and is easily mistaken for garments rather than metal itself. Due to the covering of her upper body wear and hair she easily conceals the nature of her ears and he various ports along her left arm. These ports are indented into her frame rather than protruding from it and resemble something like a circular power adapter. It is with these ports that upgrades and 'charging' is achieved as well as the possibility of future attachments. Her central power is run through a form of energy that is slightly magical and slightly natural. It's an odd creation which honestly is unclear to even her father. In terms of ears, they physically do not appear like that of the human ear but instead almost like ears that would be found on a creature simply hidden within a common head piece.

While the majority of her outer appearance is made of that of metal, her hair is the exception being that manufacturing hair that looks realistic is no doubt extremely difficult and beyond her father's skills. Therefore, Alice's hair is made of a combination of materials mostly consisting of horse hair. Due to her hair being rather lengthy it is made of both synthetic and real hair which has cleverly been crafted into a wig like adornment that is bright blonde in color. In terms of formation, the bangs are long in the front, trimming just above the eyes, and collecting in various clumps across the span of her forehead. In front of her ears they are longer in length and are layered with the upper layer cupping just below her chin and the lower extending to the middle of her chest. As for the remainder of the hair, it is thin in nature and extremely straight, reaching to the same length as the back of her vest. It is light in terms of weight and fans about her frame, easily manipulated by movement.

Her upper attire consists of two primary pieces of clothing which are an undershirt and vest. The undershirt is medium grey in color and is fancy in nature. Buttoned up the middle with a frilled center it is both high class and simple in terms of construction. The collar trims half way up her neck, creating two triangular shapes that lay flat across her shoulders and upper chest, being slightly large in terms of size. Trimming at the bottom in a similar triangular pattern to that of the collar, the undershirt is cut in a similar pattern to that of the vest with two long, tapered V shapes in the front and two shorter V shapes in the back. Additionally, the cuffs of the shirt are large in size, roughly three inches tall, and fan about her wrists, fashioned with two golden buttons. The remainder of the top is moderately loose in fit and bunches about her arms. Strapped about each arm is three belts which hold the loose cloth about her frame. One belt is located just below the elbow with the other two being above it, roughly two to three inches separating each. Each are the same color as that of the vest and are made of a sturdy leather which serves both purpose and endurance. In addition, they are fashioned with golden buckles, solidifying a gold and black color pallet.

The vest is a darker grey or almost black color with gold as a secondary color. The vest is very open in the front, a rather large V shape adorning the collar stretching to mid torso. It too is of a higher class, containing two triangular patterned collars and a similar cutting on the bottom to that of the shirt, however; the back of the vest is much longer than the front, extending to roughly half way down the lower leg in a sort of trail like fashion similar to that of tuxedos. Running about each trim of the vest, roughly a few centimeters in width, is a golden strip of coloring. This adds both a sense of elegance and separates the overlapped fabric, creating depth. In addition, each of the eight buttons which adorn the vest are also gold in color. The right front of the vest creates a squared off shape which crosses over the stomach and is buttoned to the other flap, closing the vest. Additionally, on each hip is a strip of black clothing with the same golden trim that runs from the front to the back. It serves little functional purpose and is mostly aesthetic.

Her lower attire consists of a skirt and pair of shoes which while still following the color pallet created in her upper attire is less formal in terms of quality. The skirt is deep red in color and is pleated into two layers. Due to the high waist of the undershirt and vest, the skirt appears to be rather long despite its short cut, trimming one third of the way down her thigh. It is loose and made of a relatively average fabric which both provides maneuverability and comfort for the wearer while being stiff enough to not blow about with every passing wind. Her shoes are just as simple, cutting only a few inches above the ankle, and are black and gold in coloring. The tongue of the shoes is high, reaching to the rim of the heel and is held in place by a simple strap crossing over the top of the foot. Connected with golden fasteners, it does not completely wrap about the shoe. Located on the lower portion of the shoe, near the toes, is a thin strip of gold which serves only an aesthetic purpose. In addition, the sole of the shoe is black in color and has an inch to two inch heel, creating almost a short legged boot like shoe.

In addition to this basic attire, Alice wears a tie and a head garment which serves as concealment for her ears despite them physically being her ears. The tie is dark red in color, much like that of the skirt, and creates a sort of elongated V shape attached to a rectangle. Two thin strips of gold run along the bottom of the V shape, the same width between each. Fashioned about her neck, holding the tie in place about her collar, is a golden plus sign like piece of metal which serves as a clip. The head garment which adorns only the sides of her head is much like that of a ribbon, however; it fans outward as if three dimensional rather than two dimensional. This garment is black in color and juts out in a triangular shaped formation. Located on the bottom are two thin strips of gold much like that found on the tie. Additionally attached to each end of these ears is a tassel that consists of a gold puffy ball at the top and a long deep red tassel beneath it. While they serve mostly as a means of hiding the fact that her ears are not developed in as similar manner to that of humans, they are in fact her ears in all its entirety.

Personality: Alice, despite being a robot, does have a personality. It is a personality which she has developed through the implication and teaching of emotions. Therefore, her emotions are true and not simply programming. There is an extent to how far she can express her emotions however. For example, sadness cannot be expressed through tears but through general physical demeanor. In fact, most emotions are expressed through a general overall body effect rather than simply through her face. Truth be told, her ability to express emotion through facial features is limited due to the manner in which she is crafted. It is her eyes which express emotion, her mouth unable to move highly effectively for such things and her brows non-existent. Regardless, each emotion is genuine and due to her understanding of her workings, she knows how to portray what emotion she means and so it is not difficult to confuse them among another.

Generally speaking, she is curious and friendly. Having little knowledge of the things around her she observes and questions everything which draws her interest. Due to this she does have the drive to wonder and so needs watching. After all, with most people loving robots, she has little to fear from becoming separated and due to her appearance from afar she could easily pass for human. In addition, due to her innocence and young age of manufacturing, she is somewhat child like. Unaware of possible dangers, carefree in everyday situations, she can get into trouble, especially with her lack of understanding of general things. Often she'll touch items which are not meant to be or take items that belong to someone else. Due to the keen eye of her father, however; she rarely gets reprimanded by the owner but more so advised by him to put it back. This occurs in many situations in many different scenarios. It simply stands, she is new to the word and unaware of the way in which it works.

Friendly to most, especially robots, she handles social contact well. After all, despite her first year of life, she has never met anyone else like her previous master nor was he overly cruel and so she has little understanding of cruelty and those capable of cruelty. In addition, this means that she does not understand the relationship between vle and estrikti. She also could not survive outside of the city, having no understanding of anything beyond the walls, not to mention little of what lays within them. Knowing this, her father watches her carefully, keeping her from trouble. After all, he has experience with such things and wishes to not lose Alice as well.

Her love for her father is immeasurable. A stranger to her for some time, he was simply a kind face in the crowd as she performed, but with time he became her savior and in extension, her father. There is no doubt in her mind that he is her father, despite their robot and human relationship. Ever since she learned the meaning of father she has always attributed it to him, regardless of what others may think and regardless of the fact that it is not true. It could not even be justified due to the fact that he is not her original creator. Regardless, he is nothing but her father and she loves him dearly. Trusting him completely, although still afraid at times to speak on some matters, she does anything and everything that he might require and when it comes to his care, she is overprotective.

If harm were to come to her father or he were to be placed in a situation which is harmful to him, she would not hesitate to counter that which harmed him. While she is not and never has been equipped or trained in combat, she will naturally do as she knows and defend him, anger and love driving her actions. To some extent, this means she is not a very difficult foe to defeat but strange things happen when passion drives one and so it is possible for her to hold her own, at least for a short period of time. Due to her overprotective tendency, she often questions her father on how he is doing, if anything is wrong, and if so if she might be able to fix it. He has provided her with kindness and care and so she wishes to provide the same in return for him. That is after all, her understanding of love.

It is her understanding or lack thereof which makes her literal. She does not understand sarcasm or anything of the like due to the fact that is a contradiction on the meaning of words. With her desire to understand various words, she takes them quite literally and so can easily become confused with certain phrasings. For example, if one is to say that they have a splitting headache, she will think them physically injured and so naturally will become concerned. It is quite easy for her to misinterpret or misunderstand the meaning behind one's words. Therefore, her father takes great care to the words he uses, however; not even he is knowledgeable of the extent of her vocabulary and so at times even he manages to confuse her. She is also not one to hide her confusion. Typically she will respond how she interprets the phrase to be meant to be said and so it is evident of her confusion despite her unknowing that she has misunderstood. If she does not understand a word or has never heard of it before, she will question, curious to what a strange word could mean.

Loving of nearly all things, she does not understand such things as hatred. Nor has she been exposed to a great deal of negative related emotions or words. She is also quick to forgive for a misunderstanding, especially if it was her fault. Therefore, she is generally happy and good for that matter. She does not commit negative acts purposefully, however; if her father were to instruct her to do so, she would. Her father is the greatest and most important thing to her, therefore, she will do whatever he says without a second thought, even if cruel. It does not matter what the request might be, as long as fulfilling it she makes her father happy. To some extent this transfers to others as well. Being that she is trusting, not understanding deception and betrayal, she will do whatever is necessary to help out anyone but, if her father were to intervene, his words rise above any others, even those of greater authority than he.

Her desire to please stems somewhat from programming and somewhat from her first year of performing. The intent was to please the audience and so that she did. Therefore, she has a natural desire to please or to make others happy especially if one is sad or upset. Sympathetic and caring, she looks to everyone equally with little care in the world. Having forgiven what has hurt her in the past, she fears little but her or her father's harm. Therefore, she is not afraid to wander or to even at times pester, although she does not realize she is doing so. In fact, rarely does she realize she is being a bother unless the one she is speaking to displays such physical traits of annoyance to which this she notices. After all, her understanding of emotions is based upon body language and attitude. This does mean that she can be deceived however. If one were to portray an act, she would fall for it, simply believing what she is seeing rather than noticing it for what it really is.

Wishing to be like her father, she watches him quietly as he works, knowing full well that if she were to question everything she would become irritating. Due to this she is learning about herself and about machines in general. Therefore, she is somewhat of an engineer herself although nowhere near as experienced as her father. Truth be told her understanding is mostly selective to herself and general terms of anything else. This desire to seek knowledge pushed her to learn to read and so quite often does she explore books, most commonly lore and with this comes question. Naturally she has come across mention of vle and the life beyond the city walls but most is one-sided and never has she met or encountered a telling of such a place. While this curiosity is good, to some extent it is also hindering. The restrictions placed on knowledge she does not understand. Why she cannot know does not make sense and so she will press to find what she wishes to know.

History: Created with little intention, Alice began a life with little self being. With the sole purpose to entertain she was a robot of few humanoid characteristics. More of skeleton than a being, she was meant to have no true identity nor was she given one. Fashioned from left over parts she was low quality and so of low price. The engineer who made her owned a small shop and made many robots all of low quality. He believed more in quantity rather than quality and due to the fact that most of his robots were not meant to have any specific skill, there was not much work or programming which needed to go into them. It was there that he made her three years ago as an order for a performance robot to a well known customer that ran an act consisting of numerous robots. This customer was also his best due to his abundance of purchases.

It was a few days after her creation that said customer entered the shop, demanding that he had been cheated and that the last robot he'd bought had been a piece of scrap metal. Eager to keep his client, the owner offered him Alice for free. Naturally he was apprehensive at first but there was no way he could resist a free performer and so he agreed. It wasn't a horrible loss to the owner either being truthfully Alice was a robot of many parts that otherwise would have been of no use to him and so in some manner of speaking, his client was helping him. Regardless, he took Alice that day, a robot without a name at the time. It was then that her life began but it was a life she soon would learn to forget. A life which she did not understand and in time she would be rescued from.

There were many robots in the master's performance and each were treated with little respect. After all, the master was one of those who believed robots to be lacking of feelings and so he kept them on a short leash. However, he was relatively nice as long as they performed and he made money. They had housing and performance names. They're own costumes and routines so they were not without a being. On some level it was an alright life, especially for someone who knew no other. Practice was in the mornings and performances in the afternoons. Rarely were there mistakes or problems and with time Alice grew to appreciate the other robots and the attention they received during their performances. People smiled, laughed, and clapped for them. She was appreciated and so she was happy.

Keeping the master happy wasn't difficult either. While he cared little for them as long as they did their performances and practices they were free to do whatever else they liked the remainder of the day. Often her and the other robots simply talked. It was difficult with not all robots having sound cards or mouths but there was simply something there, some connection from robot to robot and so they understood each other well enough. Truth be told, Alice was one of the few with her own sound card, the master thinking that robots that couldn't speak were robots that couldn't complain and so were better for his business. However, her ability to speak proved helpful as she could perform a different type of routine and receive the same if not better reactions than the others. After all, she was slightly more advanced due to her ability to speak and so to onlookers she was more 'important'.

This also meant she worked every performance rather than rotating as most of the other robots did. In fact, due to her ability to speak, at times their master would run two shows on different sides of the city as to make better profit being that those that normally didn't see his show would come being that it was closer. With this ability, she ran the other show as she could both be a performer and the ringmaster. This was also beneficial to those robots who performed in her shows being that if they slipped up she wouldn't tell their master. That was the one thing that horribly irritated him being that a mistake cost him money. Furthermore, a broken robot was a useless robot. It was to their advantage to not slip up and to conceal damage they received for if it was found that they were of no use to him, they'd be scrapped or sold to a shop as parts.

Performing a number of routines, it took a great deal of practice but she was relatively happy. Most days she rarely saw their master and so he couldn't get mad at her for taking longer to learn the routine. She did however have to deal with the robots he got angered with. It was her place to watch them afterward and if he took hand to them, to try to repair them. If she could not she would receive punishment and more often than not, there was little she could do for them. She did have free reign to go to the shops in search of parts but rarely did they sell her parts at prices her master was willing to pay. After all, a part could be sold for much higher than a robot being that a robot could be of great value and so the demand for a part could be quite great. With a sad heart she had to watch as robots came and went, those leaving to be scrapped. It was difficult but it solidified the fact that she couldn't be broken, that she had to be repaired or she'd suffer the same fate, a trait which sticks to her even to this day.

And as time passed, she soon became accustomed to the changing faces of the crowd, yet, at times they were familiar and she appreciated those that continued to come, continued to pay. They offered happiness to her master and so in turn, happiness to her. It was through these passing months that she had seen her to be father. At times he had a girl with him too. She didn't watch in the way he did but she was kind none the less. In fact, both sometimes simply gave money as they walked by without even watching the show. Such behavior confused her at first but she soon learnt that it was kindness which drove them to do so. However, as her first year drew to a close they hardly came. Truthfully, only he did but he didn't watch in the same way anymore. Alice never saw the girl again and in time her memory faded, only lingering from the sight of the man.

It would be two months after her first year that she would call him father. It was during a large performance in which Alice did not run a separate performance from her maser but worked with him to run one of great grandeur. It was going to be a spectacular show that would bring in a great deal of profit. Their master had grown stubborn in their preparations, demanding far more than normal that everything must be absolutely perfect. During this performance, Alice became injured. It did not affect the grandeur of the show but it was from then on that she could not perform. The injury lodged itself in her mind, creating thoughts of panic. What if she couldn't be repaired? What if she was scrapped? It was frightening to think that essentially her life could be ending and so she searched for parts, for someone to repair her. Finding none that her master was willing to pay for as his greed had grown with her success, he accepted the loss and took her to a local shop. Despite her injury her parts were still of decent cost and so he would sell her, piece by piece.

Yet, there was fortune in her future. Noticing her absence, many questioned their master. He threw lies together to cover up his intent to scrap her and most believed it except for him, her father. He knew very well the truth behind the business and corning the master with a deal, he purchased Alice for far more than he would have been able to make by selling her. With the exchange complete, he took Alice to his home, giving her a life better than she had known. One filled without demands, without orders. She was to live a life like any other filled with happiness and love. Why he'd done so he did not fully know. Perhaps it had been how she hadn't been suited for her work, how she'd been mistreated. Perhaps it was his daughter's like for her or perhaps Alice reminded him of his daughter. Regardless of the reasoning, in time Alice would become his daughter despite their differences. He would love her just as much as he had ever loved his daughter and she would call him father, loving him equally.

Despite her master's intent to sell Alice, he continued to provide her with the proper care so that she could function and show possible buyers what she was truly worth. Therefore, she was awake when her father came to get her. It was naturally surprising to see the stranger she'd never spoken to but seen from a distance show up at her door introducing himself as Fletcher and saying she'd come and live with him. She was moderately confused to why but she didn't argue. After all, if she went with him she would escape dismantle. Therefore, she naturally complied, eagerly awaiting what her new home would bring her.

It was strange at first to be allowed such freedom and kindness. She was given her own room, clothes, anything she could ever want. That very night he repaired what damage she'd received in her performance as well. Those first few days she remained relatively quiet, not knowing what to believe of all of this, but, she soon gained the confidence to ask him why. His answer was hard to deliver and didn't make much sense but he simply replied that she deserved better. She didn't know what that meant but she was appreciative of what he had done. Therefore, she did what she knew and tried to help him with his daily errands and work.

It was strange to her when he told her to not help with everything, that she didn't have to. She'd never done so little work with such kindness. As the months passed she learnt that while she was a robot, she was not meant to be a servant. This her father greatly made clear. He did not want her to be anything but happy. It did him good to have someone around, someone to fill the void of his daughter. By the time her second year had passed she'd received many upgrades and learnt many things.

She followed her father wherever he went as if a small child and mentally speaking she was child like. with little knowledge she questioned everything and he explained it as best as he could. She learnt the value of herself, of others, and she was happy. There was nothing she felt to be wrong and so nothing she felt she needed. Not everything was all fun and games though. There was a room in the house she was not allowed to enter, a room he often visited late in the night. She'd questioned it, even the girl she used to see with him, but he did not respond. If she ever pestered or got too questioning of it, he would become angered, despite his better judgment. Never did he strike at her. He couldn't do so but he did advise her on the meaning of privacy.

However, like with most new words, she interpreted it wrongly as something he simply did not want to share. She'd do the same in light, keeping things from him with the notion that they too were private. It was not uncommon for her to misinterpret words and to mix them up all together. She was new to all this knowledge after all. With the manner in which she lived in her first year and the relationship she believes robots and humans to have, words such as equality are strange. The word lie is difficult to understand as it's a natural contradiction to truth. The simple fact that she does not understand a situation in which lying could be advantageous means that she finds little purpose in having such a word as that. However, her never ending curiosity to understand compels her to continue to question despite her confusion.

One of her greatest difficulties is naturally understanding her role as robot and the reasoning behind others views on robots. Despite being loved by many her purpose is unclear to her. She does feel to have a place due to the relationship she has with her father but to what she is to do for a life, having given up street performances, is unclear. For the time being she is simply content being the daughter of her father and living a happy and relatively easy lifestyle. After all, with her father's ever watchful eye she couldn't possibly get into too much trouble, certainly not find herself outside of Seaoria. Yet, it stands that she is a robot and so different from her father despite their connection.

It was a month before her third year that she began to malfunction per say. It wasn't that she wasn't in control of her actions or even her internal workings but more so one of her upgrades. It had become jostled during one of their outings and so was out of alignment, causing the upgrade to run differently than intended. Upon noticing this, Alice was reminded of how she'd become useless to her master back in her first year after becoming injured, something similar to the current event. And while she couldn't cry she could portray sadness and fear and it took a good bit of courage to tell her father what was happening. He of course was just as loving as he always had been and located and fixed the problem within only a short period of time. It was warming to Alice that her father countered her fears so much to the point that he even instructed her to never fear him. That he would never do something that might hurt her and with this she learned trust and faith. However, that fear still lives that if she were to be injured she may not be wanted or if injured to a great degree, may be unrepairable.

By her third year she had been upgraded to the point of being very similar to that of humans although still quite robot like. Regardless, she had an identity of her own now and she knew that. Before she did too but it wasn't the same. It was more so an identity given to her by her master rather than one she created herself. In addition, she'd been given a proper name, Alice. Before it was simply a stage name and not a name she was fond of so she was quite overjoyed to have been given another. And with time she forgot or put aside most of the events of her first year, although, she did not forget the girl. Who this girl had been was intriguing to her, yet, her father would not speak of it. This was puzzling to her. What reason would cause him to completely disregard the existence of that girl?

However, it was a touchy subject. This she knew. Therefore, she refrained from asking him right out but every once and a while she would try to slip it in or look about the house for anything that might lead to the understanding of the girl. On some level it wasn't important but on another it was and so she did what she deemed right while not angering her father. This was how she went about many things. Often she would try to do them first, before consulting him. Many times she simply didn't understand and had to have is assistance. He wasn't bothered by the fact that he sort of had to watch her or take care of her. She was young truthfully speaking and Alice knew, she meant something to her father. Something she'd never had with another, robot or human. It was a connection she couldn't describe but had been told was love.

Double post to say that, while I'm on a road trip, I did read Alice's profile. I had to print it out, actually. She is absolutely accepted.

Unbreakable Team

Wouldja look at that, my first character's a guy. What's the world coming to? noes.gif

I'm gonna be cool like Wishie and indent this shit too. Hope it's all good~

Name: Jaad Akhtar
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Vle or Seaorian: Seaorian
Affiliation: Jaad could be considered neutral due to being a merchant, his main goal thus being to earn money to live comfortably. However, unlike an overwhelming majority of Seaorian, he has a visa and visits Aludove as much as he can with his wares, and he does feel quite a bit of pity for the Vle due to them not being able to enjoy the wonderful Seaorian life he and so many others are free to live. As a result of his pity, he often gives discounts to the people of Caiatra and even helps them for free if he feels he has the time.
Class: Engineer
Specialization: Jaad is an expert with textiles, being a creator of clothes, bed sheets, curtains, carpets, tents, nets and other useful objects. Thanks to this, he is an extremely useful engineer as he has a wide variety of creations at his disposition. He is known for making many intricate patterns and works by hand, making each product that much more impressive. He works quite fast too, showing an impressive amount of dexterity and concentration. Due to how often the near entirety of his creations end up needing to be replaced, he never runs out of work, which is wonderful for the young man. Though he’s no expert fighter and would quite possibly lose to some of the lazy Seaorian fighters in a battle, Jaad tends to carry a pair of scimitars as well as throwing knives with which he has relatively good aim.
Secondary Class: While he is an engineer at heart, Jaad could be considered a merchant first and foremost. Not wanting to change his own home’s decoration too often or to limit himself in his work, Jaad opts to create as much as he can and then sell his creations to anyone willing to pay for them. He charges quite a bit, but the quality of his works and the nonchalant attitude of Seaorians makes this a non-issue. Unhappy with just selling his wares to Seaorians as well as simply being someone who enjoys travelling, Jaad got himself a visa that allows him to leave Seaorin as he wishes to visit other places to sell his wares, including the Vles, something he never, ever mentions. Due to how often he leaves and comes back unscathed, a minority of people have grown scared of him for two different reasons. Firstly, some think he might be a Vle himself. Secondly, some assume that he is an absurdly strong fighter who is able to defeat anyone who stands in his way. Nevertheless, this is a very weak minority of Seaorians, so he doesn’t really pay much attention to it.
Specialization: N/A

Appearance: Reference 1
Reference 2

Jaad is a rather strongly built caucasian young man who stands at a somewhat intimidating 6’3” and weighs around 210 pounds. His silhouette is broad and he’s clearly not a weak man physically, but his muscles aren’t overly defined, instead being barely visible. While generally somewhat large, he doesn’t have much in the way of fat, being at a healthy size. He has a slightly rounded jawline, a pointy nose and slanted eyes, making him generally rather attractive. His eyes are a slightly pale red that don’t look intimidating in the least, which is rather surprising as red eyes tend to be frightening, their gentle look being a direct reflection of his general demeanor. His hair is jet black and tied into a short braided ponytail that reaches his shoulder blades. Like his hair, is eyebrows are jet black. They start thin on the outer edges and become wider as they approach the bridge of his nose, getting approximately twice as wide (which really isn’t much). On his head is a very large piece of white cloth wrapped around like a bandana, though it does leave most of his spiky bangs exposed. Around the cloth, wrapped around the top of his head vertically, is a purple, similarly shaped piece of cloth that keeps the other piece on his head due to how tight it is. The outer edges of the white piece of cloth are ruffled, making it look very slightly like a bonnet. The wandering merchant does wear jewelry, mainly earrings. He has two silver earrings on the top parts of his ears and a long, dangling golden earring inbetween those two on his left ear that reaches his jaw.

Jaad’s outfit has quite a few layers and is, of course, all made by him. Firstly, he wears a large piece of black cloth around his neck and shoulders that has three vertical golden x patterns on each side. This is a very loose piece of cloth and it reveals most of his neck while keeping it warm. Jaad’s main piece of clothing is a simple sleeveless white cloth robes. It doesn’t cover his armpits or his neck, showing a little of his body and thus, his muscles. It’s also rather tight in the upper part. It’s rather long in the back, going down to behind his knees, while the front is slit. Around his abdomen is a bright blue cloth belt that is neatly tied with a tight knot. His weapons are attached to this belt, one saber and three knives on each side.

Ever the careful wanderer, Jaad wears purple-colored leather armor on his body in case he ever gets attacked when outside Seaorin. Firstly, he wears it on his shoulders, his neckwear going through a large hole in the middle, which makes this armor merely shoulderpads connected by leather straps that go towards his chest and back, making a 90° angle in the middle. On the front right angle is a long oval golden medallion with a thin crescent moon on the right facing a small flame on it. This medallion has two very long and thin rectangular pieces of white cloth attached to it. These strips of cloth are connected by small gray strings that keep them attached to the medallion. The right one has a lilac square on top of an olive green square pattern near the top while the left one has beige square on top of light blue square instead. At the bottom of the strips, this pattern repeats three times on each side with different colors: white, yellow and lilac for the right side and dark green, yellow and blue for the left side. Then, the two strips have gray strings that attach them to a golden medallion identical to the one they are attached to at the top.

The shoulder armor is attached to a very large leather belt with two thin suspender-like straps of leather. These straps have golden circular clasps which enable the belt and the shoulder armor to be separated should the need arise. The belt is clearly composed out of two smaller belts, as these smaller belts have paler rims. The big belt, however, does not cover the front of Jaad’s abdomen, instead opting for three strips with golden clasps to keep it in place, which leaves two small holes in the middle of this very large belt. The front ends of the belt, before the holes, have the colored squares once more, in packs of four again. All clockwise from the top-left, the colors are as such: the top-right bunch of square goes yellow, yellow, blue, yellow; the top-left one goes beige, blue, olive green, white; the bottom-left one goes yellow, yellow, white, blue and the bottom-right one goes blue, yellow, blue olive green.

Jaad also wears gauntlets made of this purple leather armor, with the right gauntlet stopping before his elbow and the left one stopping after the elbow, nearer the upper arm. Of course, the latter has an opening that lets him bend that arm as he pleases. The right gauntlet merely has the same x pattern as the shoulder armor and his neckwear, having two x’s near the elbow. On that arm, Jaad wears bandages on his upper arm and part of his shoulder as well as his forearm. On his left gauntlet, the colored squares make another appearance, having a set of four squares that go, clockwise from the top-right, yellow, blue, blue, yellow at the top and six squares over the hand that go yellow, blue, yellow, white, blue, blue, yellow. This gauntlet’s rim is marked by a white cloth with a similar pattern to the rim of his headwear.

For lower wear, Jaad wears loose two-tone cloth pants with the right leg being a burnt shade of orange and the left leg being black. Having an elastic waist, these pants are easy to put on and stay around his waist without needing a belt. For footwear, Jaad opts to wear steel-toed black boots that reach up to his calves. They are made to reduce friction and aren’t very slippery, enabling him to go through tough terrain with ease. The final piece of purple armor he wears is around his boots, for additional protection from possible animal stings and bites (like snakes, scorpions and spiders). It covers the entire calf area, stopping right under the knee, and is kept firmly in place by black strings. The armor goes around his ankles and a small part goes under the middle of the foot, where the feet arch inwards.

More often than not, Jaad carries a large black backpack around, and it’s usually filled if not overflowing with his wares. It’s able to carry a lot of things and has many, many compartments to do just that. On top of the backpack there are many clasps there to attach strings so it can carry more than just what goes inside it. As a result, the backpack is often under a pile of more merchandise. There’s even a clasp that allows said merchandise to be strapped under it. The huge bag is predominantly black and has yellow v’s on the sides, with the largest being right in the middle.

Personality: Jaad is a sweet, good-natured young man with loads of self-confidence, which makes him easily approachable and easy to befriend. While he is a merchant and, at the core, is trying to get as much money as he can with each thing he sells, his good nature tends to make him give discounts to people who either truly can’t afford his wares or simply people that are either disabled or children or even Vle, of all things. He’s actually quite the fearless and curious man, having a thirst not for adventure in particular, seeing as how he’s no fighter, but just exploring.

Unlike a huge majority of Seaorians, Jaad isn’t scared of Vle, mainly due to the fact that he has visited them and realised that they were not as demonic as people said they were, but of course he keeps his mouth shut about the Vle while inside Seaorin for obvious reasons. Having acquired a visa to travel to other lands to sell his wares, hoping to get more money for his ‘rare Seaorian wares’, Jaad ended up in Caiatra and despite his initial fear, found himself befriending a good number of Vle during his first stay. The fact he was actually afraid at first speaks volumes about how demonised the Vle are inside Seaorin’s walls.

Like any self-respecting Seaorian, Jaad is quite in love with the utopian city and is more than happy to call it his home. He’s also rather naďve, like many Seaorians, but it musn’t be confused with stupidity, as he is, in fact, quite smart and resourceful, especially in a bind. Being a merchant, he’s also very good with words and is able to lie quite convincingly, though, making him quite good at avoiding trouble, which can be seen as quite strange for someone of his stature. The truth is, he’s too good-natured to fight unless absolutely necessary.

Like any self-respecting Seaorian, once again, the wandering merchant is quite fond of being entertained, himself being more attracted to shows of athleticism than anything, though he also adores seeing Alchemist street performers bedazzle crowds. To him, though, nothing will beat things like circuses, where pure skill and athleticism shines over all. He himself isn’t too agile, which makes these shows that much more impressive to him, though he is much stronger than the average Seaorian, sometimes even overpowering a soldier with brute strength. This strength comes from his carrying around all his merchandise, which is quite heavy, especially when travelling for days on end.

He lives in a rather large and cozy house and has enough money to have a fair amount of luxury, which he enjoys greatly, of course. However, it must be noted that he’s not a slave to luxury, as he won’t mind being forced to sleep outside or to eat food he’s not too fond of. Basically, he’ll take what he can get, even though he very much prefers luxury and comfort. Being a merchant, he’s also a little greedy, but he never lets it get out of hand and can be quite generous if asked. It is to be noted that he will naturally be generous with the same people he gives discounts to, for obvious reasons.

Jaad is very protective over the people he considers friends, and will actually become quite the worrywart with them. Luckily, he’s quite good at survival techniques, seeing as how he often travels outside Seaorin’s walls for days at a time. As a result, he makes a tremendous medic when none are available, able to help wounds heal and so on. He can get very attached and emotional over the people he considers friends, sometimes even shedding a few tears or losing sleep out of sheer worry. He’ll also be available 24/7 to help anyone, no matter how petty his task may be, as he dedicates himself to make anyone he cares about as happy as he can. This overly helpful nature does make him easily manipulated, even more so when coupled with his naivete.

Jaad’s very much a pacifist and will try to avoid conflict unless necessary. As a result, he’s very much a passive individual who tries to help through words and generally peaceful actions. He’s quite the big softie too, having a soft spot for cute things and children. He’s very good with the latter and with animals, making him a very good caretaker. However, due to his semi-nomadic nature, he doesn’t feel like it would be good for him to have a pet due to the amount of maintenance they need. He has a strong preference for birds when it comes to pet choices, which is seen as quite strange for quite a few people, as canines and felines are often the prefered choice.

While Jaad certainly enjoys luxury and the general Seaorian lifestyle, he’s far from lazy and, in fact, is quite the hard-worker. He is most certainly dedicated to his craft, with his very lifestyle being dedicated to it and molded around it. He can spend entire nights awake to finish a certain design and, as a result, his sleeping schedule is rather hectic and depends on his plans for the week. He does try to keep it standard, however, as people tend to buy things during the day and not the night (duh).

History: Jaad was born in a fairly wealthy family, one that was a bit poorer than he currently is, though. His father was a brilliant Engineer who specialised in ranged weapons while his mother was simply a healing Alchemist. While Jaad liked his mother a lot, it was his father’s job he wanted, and thus he spent a lot of time with him, acquiring the knowledge required to be an Engineer. Seeing the machines create objects of different sizes just never ceased to amaze the young Jaad and this only fueled his desire to, one day, be an Engineer to be the one creating amazing things. His father was more than happy to teach him how to use the machines, but only when he was older and understood his limits more, as the machines were dangerous for children seeing as how they created weapons.

One thing that Jaad realised before he was old enough to learn how to use his father’s machines was that he disliked violence and thus, weapons. Though he eventually grew to tolerate and even use the latter, for a long time he refused to even touch a sword or a bow. Since both of his parents were busy most of the time, Jaad was the one who did errands and interacted with merchants, often getting duped and forced to spend more money than he needed. With proper tutoring from his mother, however, he soon became interested in becoming a merchant due to them just interacting with so many people, with Jaad being someone who really enjoyed talking to and meeting new people.

Jaad quickly added one and one together and came to the conclusion that becoming an engineer and selling his creations was what he wanted to do with his life. However, the main problem for him was deciding what to do as an engineer. Weapons were out of the question and robotics didn’t really interest him more than it should have. Sure, it was impressive, but people didn’t really need robots. By the time he decided what he wanted to create, Jaad was about 14 years old and showed an impressive creative mind with drawings, yet he didn’t want to sell art either. It was then that he realised (with help from his parents, of course) that he could use his creative mind to create unique clothes. After trying a few things, Jaad could confirm that he liked this path and started creating clothes, basic, plain ones at first to get used to the machines his father got him.

It didn’t take long for Jaad to master his craft, and all the time he spent speaking with his many friends helped develop his speaking skills. He wasn’t shy (and he never has been), he was confident, he was articulate and actually a convincing liar, though he was too good-natured to actually lie unless the situation was serious. Soon enough, the young Jaad was a new, fresh face in the world of merchants, and his clothes were loved quite quickly. However, clothes weren’t enough. Dresses, shirts, gowns, cloaks, hoodies, pants, socks, underwear… it sold well and people would always need it, but it got repetitive to him, so he wandered in his home and inspected it thoroughly, wanting to find things he could create that weren’t clothes.

Carpets, bed sheets, curtains and the like soon were added to the young merchant’s repertoire as he reached 18 years old. By then, he was already a successful merchant and two years later, after making quite a bit of money, he decided to move out and get his own home, but soon he grew weary of Seaorin, of seeing the same people over and over again… but the Vle were such an intimidating presence that he dared not think of leaving Seaorin… until he did it on a whim, bored and swallowing his fear; he’d learned how to use weapons at an acceptable level for a Seaorian, so he felt more confident should he be attacked. By the next day, he had his visa and stepped outside of Seaorin, one hand always on one of his trusty sabers’ hilt out of fear.

He came across a city called Caiatra and he befriended the people there, befriending the very people he feared, unknowingly. When this was revealed to him (and it was revealed on his first trip outside) and the situation was explained to him when he was considered a non-threat as he didn’t seem to be an egocentric bully like the other Seaorians the Caiatrans frequently encountered and he was, admittedly, quite weak in combat compared to the battle-hardened Vle. Jaad’s fears of the Vle vanished quite quickly, now only fearing the more… outspoken ones, namely a young, heavily tattooed lady who outwardly and bluntly resented his presence. A few others shared this young lady’s, younger than the 20 year old Jaad, feelings.

Nevertheless, Jaad found himself feeling pity for the Vle, as he could clearly see that they were generally quite friendly, like the Seaorians (this being from his perspective, of course). Jaad gave heavy discounts to his wares and started to become known around Caiatra, though he was also spoken about in hushed tones, as he was Seaorian. His wares and equipment were thoroughly inspected for poison and anything potentially lethal for safety measures. This first visit of Caiatra was eye-opening to Jaad, yet he couldn’t speak of this with anyone, as he knew that anything regarding a Seaorian interacting with Vle with good intentions was seen as borderline sacrilegious, so he kept this a secret as he visited other cities within Aludove, only coming back home (spending a night in Caiatra again) after about a month, now much more knowledgeable and with renewed passion for his line of work.

Since then, Jaad has been taking immense risks by continuing to visit Caiatra (and other Aludovian cities, but none are seen badly like the Vle Homeland) and supply the exiled people of the Vle city with clothes and things like carpets and curtains to do as much as he could to make their life a little easier. He became beloved by the Caiatrans as the years went by, though the tattooed young lady still refused to have anything to do with him, which did upset him a bit. In Seaorin, though, rumors started circulating about Jaad, some saying that he was Vle himself while others say he is an extremely competent fighter, capable of slaughtering Vle by the dozen, both of which would explain why he keeps coming back from his travels safely.

Luckily for the adventurous, curious merchant, he has never been in Caiatra while Seaorian raids have taken place, and this is why some Vle, including the tattooed young lady, still believe him to be untrustworthy. Jaad is truly playing with fire and, well, his very life by doing what he does, but his good nature simply makes him unable to ignore the Vle anymore. He has friends in Caiatra now, and he does what he can to help them, as sacrilegious and illegal as it may be. He has mainly dismissed and ignored any and all rumors concerning his travels, doing so skillfully thanks to his speaking skills, but the risk stays, grows and one day, inevitably the fire will burn him. And then it very well may be too late for him to repent… if he felt any remorse doing what he does.

Also accepted, Darkie. I suppose I'm going to have to post a profile soon and update the posts. It'll come in time.

Unbreakable Team

There we go, another one down~

Name: Marielle Kingsland
Gender: Female
Age: 31
Vle or Seaorian: Seaorian
Affiliation: Estrikti
Class: Soldier
Specialization: Marielle is a melee expert, specialising in close combat and even mid-range combat (with polearms, mainly). She is especially good with blunt weapons such as maces and mauls, being an expert at shattering through enemies’ defenses while staying unharmed. As a fighter, Marielle is quite possibly one of the strongest Seaorians around, able to overpower most Soldiers with ease. While she is far from being fast (and no one would think she is, really), her stamina and endurance levels are actually quite high for someone of her size, but very slightly over average for a normal Soldier. She notably has the uncanny ability of being able to keep fighting at an alarmingly good level even when exhausted, practically making her a walking tank. However, after fighting under extreme exhaustion, the portly woman will most likely collapse or lose consciousness. Her flexibility is also very poor, which shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Though she is a melee expert, Marielle understands her physical limitations and thus tends to have one ranged weapon with her, usually either a scattergun or a crossbow, most often the former. Though she is obviously rather slow and not suited for running and jumping, making nimble Life Gatherers her main kryptonite, Marielle is an intimidating presence who is often called an immovable object, her thick, heavy, custom-made armor coupled with her natural weight making her practically impossible to topple over and enabling her to shrug off powerful attacks with ease. The armor is made to withstand alchemic attacks as well, but it’s imperfect in that regard, meaning that Alchemists have a good shot at defeating Marielle despite her ability to use ranged weapons at a moderate level, especially when it comes to aiming.

One thing that people often don’t assume out of Marielle is how technically sound she is with melee weapons, being somewhat of a weaponmaster (and thus being able to assist Melee Soldiers with their training). However, as she isn’t as she was in her teenage years, weapons like rapiers and sabers are simply unusable for her as she simply doesn’t have the level of agility (as well as the slim frame) required for such weapons, though she can aid with the stance and the basic motions. Marielle’s dexterity is surprising for someone who prefers blunt weapons and she is able to deflect and block projectiles if she has a sword that is large enough. She is also able to hold her own when she needs to parry attacks, though her physical limitations can be quite restricting.

Marielle’s signature weapon is quite frightening, yet also surprisingly simple: it’s a five inch thick and two feet wide rectangular slab of solid metal attached to a zweihander hilt. The end of the metal slab is curved inwards, so she can pin people to walls with it. If the tip of the slab is on the ground, the handle will reach Marielle’s chest. The weapon isn’t hollow, thus making it extremely heavy, yet she’s able to wield it easily in one hand, a testament to her herculean strength. Once wielding it with two hands, at it is meant to be, Marielle’s new size makes it awkward (though not impossible) to do so, so she either wields two at a time or wields one in one hand and a large rectangular shield with spikes on it (which she is proficient with, as it helps her in melee combat) in the other hand. Marielle’s metal ‘sword’ is a fear-inducing weapon capable of shattering armor with one hit, though Marielle’s sluggish movements coupled with the fact that she wields it with one hand makes it rather easy to avoid, but devastating if a hit lands. She fights a half-defensive, half-offensive style focused on countering and parrying. Once she finds an opening, she will suddenly rush into a combination of swipes and slams.

Defensively, even without her armor, Marielle’s pain tolerance is quite high, especially against blunt attacks. Once a proficient martial artist, her weight gain has forced her to become more of a grappler, focusing on using her weight and strength to her advantage. Her balance is also unparalleled, making her, as mentioned previously, very hard to push down. Being somewhat of a threat even when unarmed, Marielle is someone who should not be fought in close combat. However, her main weakness, along with fighters that are extremely nimble, is ranged combat, whether it be a Ranged Soldier or an Alchemist. Though her armor is extremely tough, it can be penetrated with enough work and there are, like with every armor, some weak spots in it. Fighting multiple enemies at close range isn’t much of a problem, but fighting the same amount of enemies at long range is a very big problem for her.
Secondary Class: N/A
Specialization: N/A

Appearance: Reference (less cleavage)

Lady Kingsland is a high noble who certainly doesn’t look poor, seeing as how she exceeds 350 pounds, being nearer the 400 mark, and stands at an even 6’. Once a stout yet muscular woman, Marielle is now a big ball of blubber, sporting huge breasts, an even bigger belly, thighs bigger than tree trunks and calves the size of tree trunks. Her face is very round, sporting permanently pink and very fluffy cheeks and a generous double chin. Her bright blue eyes tend to go well with her equally bright and photogenic smile, giving a very approachable aura. However, these same eyes, who often show joy, can show sadness and crazed anger and hatred just as well as they show joy, Marielle herself being a very emotional woman. Her long blonde hair is voluminous and luscious, clearly being kept in pristine condition. Marielle does wear light make-up as well. She wears a simple blue necklace with a sapphire as a medallion at all times.

The Estrikti’s blubbery body is often covered by a very fancy-looking dress that is mainly colored yellow and very dark green. It shows quite a bit of cleavage, but except that, Marielle’s outfit shows no skin whatsoever (bar her hands, of course). The dress’s shoulders are very puffy, making Marielle’s shoulders seem even larger than they are. Her very large arms are comfortably covered by the sleeves up to the wrist, a plain, white dress obviously being worn under the main outfit as there are ruffled sleeves showing, as well as a large ruffled white part that covers a large part of her enormous chest. The sleeves have slits that go along the sides of the arms and are ‘closed’ by red ribbons, making white ovals going along the sides of her arms, four of them to be exact. On the shoulders are similar oval slits, but they go vertically instead of horizontally.

The main chest portion under the white part is actually the aforementioned dark green hue, with this color also covering more or less half of the dress, starting small under the chest and going full circle at the back, making it look like Marielle is wearing multiple layers: one yellow that covers her sleeves, back and behind, one dark green that covers her chest and front and one white that covers her entire body under it all. Add to that a thick brown leather belt tucked in inbetween her belly and her breasts and the entire outfit looks thick and heavy, almost like protective gear, yet also prim and proper.

The dress is actually rather tight around her abdomen (especially when sitting), as her gigantic belly’s outline can clearly be seen along with love handles and even the line that separates her hips from her belly can be seen. Along the abdomen, Marielle wears a thin brown belt with no buckle designed to hold a red pouch with a golden lace around it in a criss-crossing pattern, this pouch often holding a surprisingly large amount of money. The skirt of the dress reaches her lower thighs.

For lower wear, Marielle wears black thigh-high woolen pantyhose (though the part covering her crotch is made in the typical nylon, making this quite strange), giving her lower wear a bland yet unique look. She also wears brown leather boots that should reach her knees, but the girth of her calves make the boots bulge massively, making the boots reach lower than they should. They are kept tight around her feet with strong laces that criss-cross on the front of the boots. They also have a slight heel that make a distinctive clack with each step.

Lady Kingsland is, as constantly mentioned, very, very large, with her entire body being rather jiggly. Her hips are especially large, very lightly brushing the sides of either small hallways or doorways whenever she waddles through them. And while she has broken furniture once or twice, she has quite a bit of trouble sitting in chairs with armrests as they require her to literally squeeze her behind in them. She also requires a queen-sized bed at least to accommodate her size, as a normal bed would be too small and, well, too weak. Luckily, her wealth makes these a non-issue. Her size also unsurprisingly makes her flexibility abysmal, meaning that she does have trouble putting on lower wear and just generally reaching past her thighs.

As one can imagine, Marielle is a very intimidating sight when she’s wearing her custom-made, jewel-incrusted yellow and gray suit of armor that weighs almost as much as she does on its own. Covering her entire body with only slight cracks here and there, Lady Kingsland looks more like a boulder or a tank than a human being, especially when wearing the round, horned helmet that comes with it. The suit of armor is actually both frightening and bedazzling, especially due to the helmet. As mentioned earlier, it’s extremely tough and specially made to make alchemy less useful against Marielle.

Personality: Marielle is a joyous, generous woman who could be seen as a bit of a stereotypical jolly giant as she is often seen with a big smile on her chubby face and a skip to her step. She’s very, very nice and very much liked by the majority of Seaorians due to how likeable she is and just due to how sweet she is despite being a high noble. She is often in her mansion with butlers and maids catering to her every need, but she’s so nice and supportive of them that they almost feel bad for getting paid for helping her as they really are treated like friends and even family members. As one can quickly see, Marielle is a woman who is full of love and positivity. She visits people often, she plays with children, she helps with social events and is just a very loved member of the Seaorian community.

Being so wealthy, however, did make Marielle a little shallow and materialistic, absolutely loving material gifts (even if they’re complete crap, as she does believe that it’s the intention that counts). Saying she’s full of herself would be wrong, as she merely has a very strong opinion of herself and will strongly stand for her beliefs. She’s also rather vain, liking to admire herself in the mirror. Unlike what some would think, Marielle is okay with her blubbery body, though that did take some time as she used to be a stout and muscular woman.

One thing that comes as a surprise is that Marielle is a member of the Estrikti, and even more surprising is that she’s quite possibly one of the most vocal extremists of the secret society. As good a person as Lady Kingsland is, she harbors a very, very deeply rooted hatred of Vle for a few reasons, namely that they killed practically all of her loved ones. She is passionate about her hatred for the ‘demons’ and would be more than happy if they were downright exterminated. When Vle are the subject of a discussion, Lady Kingsland often becomes consumed by hatred and needs to calm down often to keep her thoughts clear. If she ever visits Caiatra, one can only imagine the mindset she’ll be in.

If ever forced to interact with Vle, Marielle will be downright scary, showing amounts of hatred and anger that only few can match. She often tends to lose her ability to think clearly and seems to go into a sort of emotional breakdown as she will scream, swear and cry if left long enough with them; she will also curse them for ruining her beloved utopia and will just be absolutely ruthless and berserk. As one can guess, Marielle harbors a deep love for Seaorin, and being an Estrikti allows her to do what she thinks is right for the utopic city. Knowing her for a little while is more than enough to realise that she truly does what she believes is right for Seaorin and despite her racism and generalisation of Vle, she does have all the good intentions in the world.

Marielle is a very friendly woman, and she has lots of friends, lots of connections, especially with merchants/engineers for furniture and clothes to accommodate her size. She frequently visits lower class citizens and just spends time with them as a friend, as an equal. Evidently, though she does think highly of herself and is very vain, she manages to display an air of friendliness and even a motherly air with younger people. She’s also quite intelligent and helpful, leading to her giving advice to younger people.

Though generally extremely happy and cheery, Marielle is a heartbroken woman who is unable to move on from her family’s death. Sometimes she will merely become sad while looking at photos, while at other times she becomes borderline psychotic and suicidal, requiring her ‘servants’ to intervene and calm her down. Of course, she fully and solely blames the Vle for their deaths, and simply won’t rest until they’re flat out exterminated not just for personal pleasure, but also to, in her mind, protect the Seaorians.

Marielle’s size is due to the aforementioned deaths and her way of coping with sadness. Though she was a stout and muscular woman and has been for most of her life a strongly built woman, she has always been one for comfort eating, drowning her sorrows and pain in fatty foods and sweets. As she was utterly inconsolable and in a depressive state for a few years, Marielle ate herself to morbid obesity before snapping out of it, and learned to love herself like this, or at least she says. However, her servants can tell she isn’t well mentally as she still regularly has multiple course meals, three servings of dessert and regular, nearly hourly snacks daily. However, she forces herself to exercise, not being as lazy as she looks (though she does enjoy sleeping in) and therefore keeping her weight fluctuating between 350 and 400 pounds. While unable to do things like sit-ups and push-ups, she does train with her weapons as well as lift weights for a good two hours in the evening and sometimes adds a three hour midday session when she decides to stay home. Otherwise, she’s walking all day around Seaorin.

History: A high noble born with innate freakish strength, Marielle has always been rather stout. Even as a toddler, Marielle showed herculean strength and her parents, both talented Soldiers, opted to train her to become a soldier. As a result, she grew up spoiled, coddled, loved and well-raised with the best trainers money could afford, which has resulted in her technical prowess. She grew quite muscular, even as a child, yet still had an air of feminity and confidence that made her quite the eye-catcher for many young men. She cycled through boyfriends rather rapidly, herself often being seen as actually too nice and selfless, with the nobles wanting their son to have a typical noble as a wife.

As a result, Marielle ended up with lots of friends, but no romantic links between any of them. As with every Seaorian, she was taught about the Vle and grew to fear them, though this would grow into hate later in her life. Stout and well-built Marielle was considered a prodigy as she learned the art of fighting quickly, learning how to use melee weapons with ease (ranged weapons were more difficult for her). Add that with her herculean strength, her seemingly unending stamina and unrivaled athleticsm and you had one hell of a fighter. Unlike other Seaorians, Marielle didn’t grow lazy; even though there was no need to, she kept training, just in case the Vle attacked. She wanted to protect what she loved, having developped a strong love of Seaorin as she made friends and just grew to love the utopic city, and who could blame her?

Soon after she turned fifteen, however, a young man entered her life, a young man of her age named Victor Krazz who, unbeknownst to her, mainly because she didn’t know of its existence, was a member of the secret society called the Estrikti, born into it thanks to his father, Jaylon Krazz, who had died of sudden illness when he was young. Marielle and Victor very quickly saw eye to eye and became close friends, then best friends, then a couple. The two were madly in love, and they married when they were both nineteen, one year after being legal. Marielle had been judged favorably by the Estrikti and by the time she was twenty, was an important part of the Estrikti along with her husband Victor, the two being a young power couple within the organisation.

Victor and Marielle were happy, joyous, filled with glee for practically the entire time they were together, never growing tired of the other. Both were vicious Soldiers, Victor being an archer by trade, just like his father, and Marielle being a melee master. Whenever Marielle was sad, she turned to food and, more importantly, Victor, while he did the same without the sweets. He did manage to get her to stop that reflex of gorging herself whenever things went wrong, and boy did they go wrong for the young woman when she learned her parents had been assassinated by Vle. A few months later, when she had managed to move on somewhat, Marielle regained her joy when she learned she was pregnant with twins. At twenty-one years old, the young Estrikti was now the proud mother of two little blonde-haired twin boys that were baptised Jason and Isaac.

Marielle and Victor were happy and loved their little boys with all their hearts and then some; they raised them as they were raised: spoiled, coddled and unconditionally loved, though Marielle was much softer than Victor. The latter himself was a bit more strict in general, yet loved Marielle’s laidback, gentle attitude towards everything, having gone from a reserved young man to a bright, smiling man by the time he had his family, his wife’s demeanor having clearly rubbed off on him. The couple (and their children, technically) were still active Estrikti members and were still very much liked within the organisation.

One day, when her two blonde chubby little boys were five (thus making Marielle twenty-six), Victor decided to take the boys out for the day while Marielle had a day alone with her friends (which happened to include a few maids and butlers). However, when Marielle and the few servants she had with her came back home late at night with Victor and the twins still being out, she started to worry. After an hour, the female Estrikti and a few of her servants went outside in the night to look for them, the former fearing the worst.

And with reason. They found a group of guards forming a circle around something in a street quite far away from their mansion, and when she went to interrogate them, Marielle saw her husband and her children lying limply on the ground in a pool of blood, throats slit and clothes missing in Victor’s case. The strongwoman was horrified, unable to believe what she was seeing. So were the servants, but Marielle was, understandably, a complete wreck, literally having a breakdown on the crime scene. When all was sorted out, it was revealed that Vle were the culprits of her family’s assassination, just like when her parents had died five years before.

Marielle slipped into deep depression for two years, going back to her old habit of gorging herself to console herself, gaining a massive amount of weight as she did as her training slowed down. Her servants did what they could to cheer her up, but it took them and Marielle two years to recuperate from the tragic loss (and for the latter, this is still rather iffy). Now hugely overweight (though still as strong as she had always been), Marielle had to get used to her new body as she still hadn’t found peace and thus still ate for three each day. However, she managed to keep her weight from going up by going back to her training habits, and it was very difficult for her at first, but her servants assisted her as they could.

Everything concerning her armor had to be remade to accommodate her new size, and she consulted (and hired) the best Engineers she could find to create a new, ultra-durable suit of armor. At about 28, Marielle was back on her now wide, portly feet, a smile once again adorning her pudgy face. Everything was back to normal it seemed… until Marielle had another breakdown for apparently no reason one day. She was screaming at nothing, throwing furniture around, crying, hitting the floor like a child. Whenever the Vle were spoken of in Estrikti meetings, Marielle seemed to become a violent, deranged, sadistic maniac who wished to kill every single one slowly and painfully. These breakdowns still happen occasionally, though now it’s mostly sudden crying when families are mentioned (but not always). She’s unable to bring herself to marry another man, and it’s understandable.

Three years ago, Marielle pulled herself away (mostly) from depression with help from her close friends and servants, and she’s now back to her old self externally, but internally, her psyche is damaged, possibly beyond repair, and she is determined to see the end of the Vle with her own eyes, maybe even causing it directly. Her training is more intense despite her new blubbery body, and she’s more focused than ever. Despite her occasional psychoses, Marielle is still her old cheery helpful self, more or less, though she knows she won’t find solace until the Vle are exterminated and her family (as well as all the other victims of Vle) is avenged.

Unbreakable Team

Aaand another one. Part of a trio this time!

Name: Annaeus “Teps” Tepperberg
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Vle or Seaorian: Vle
Affiliation: Vle
Class: Alchemist/Soldier
Specialization: Teps is one of the few Alchemists with a natural affinity for magic who decided to go the way of the Soldier. Specialised in two-handed swords, Teps is a balanced, powerful warrior who, despite not being as good as other Soldiers, makes up for it by being ridiculously endurant thanks to his Healing magic, practically being immune to injuries in a way (though major ones like dismemberment are obviously beyond this). Teps is capable of using other kinds of swords too, but he truly shines with two-handed ones. Beyond his Healing abilities, however, he is very much a typical Melee Soldier. He is much better at healing himself than healing others, though he can be useful in a pinch.
Secondary Class: N/A
Specialization: N/A

Appearance: Reference

Teps is a rather bulky young man who stands at 6’1” and weighs around 220 pounds, his build being a mix of fat and muscle. His hair is short and brown with long spiky bangs that barely reach his eyebrows. More often than not, he has messy hair and thus has spiky hair very often. His eyebrows are somewhat thick and his eyes are a deep brown hue. He has slightly tanned skin, which does make him seem a little strange for an Inner Vle. He also has a small goatee and sometimes a full, if not short, beard. Finally, he always wears a pair of black rectangular glasses, as he has poor eyesight.

Teps’s casual outfits tend to be a simple loose pants/tanktop combo, sometimes replacing the top with a standard t-shirt or even going shirtless, showing his slightly chubby, slightly hairy body. His usual outfit, which his is combat outfit, is much more detailed and eye-catching. Firstly, he wears a thick, heavy dirty white robe (which looks more dark beige than white) under a simple metallic chestplate that has a plus-like symbol on its front. The chestplate also covers his mid-back, the front and back sections being linked by leather straps. Over the long sleeves of his robe, Teps wears heavy metallic fingerless gauntlets with washed out symbols on them. He also wears a large white cape that has a hood, making it more similar to a body-less cloak.

Around Teps’s waist is metallic belt seemingly from the same suit of armor as his chestplate. The belt has a large, though short front flap that is shaped and looks like a shield. On the left side of the belt is his sword’s sheath, which never leaves his side. The robe he wears has a thin front flap that goes down to his calves and a skirt-like back that goes down to his calves as well. This front flap has a washed out blue cross on it along with similarly colored rims. This seems to be the front of the robes as the blue rims are seen between the belt and the chestplate. Finally, Teps wears metallic boots and heavy, dirty white pants that are the same color as his robe.

Personality: Once a laidback joker of a young man, his exile from Seaorin has made Teps become a much more serious man in general… most of the time. While he’s still a nice fellow to be around, he has a hard time staying cheery like he used to, seeing as how almost everything he loves was stripped away from him with little to no reason. Teps, in general, is a generous young man with a healthy sense of humor, but lately he’s finding himself stuck in a rut, mainly due to his current situation and his focus on merely surviving. Switching from a peaceful life where you had practically everything to one where you have to work for everything is certainly taking its toll on the young man’s psyche.

Once rather lazy, which fit well with his laidback nature, Teps forces himself to work to live up to the higher standards of Caiatra, which is harder for him than one may think. He very much enjoys loafing around and just being lazy, but he can’t afford to do that too often anymore since two people are depending on him more than ever. These two people, Keelie Liebermann and Naya Pulchier, are two orphans he grew up with and has grown to see as family, siblings. They mean the world to him, and he’s willing to sacrifice his favorite hobbies as well as some of his happiness to ensure their safety. Being the oldest of the trio of orphans, Teps sees it as his duty to protect and support them, and he does so completely willingly; he even refused Naya’s help so she could focus on hunting.

Being eleven years older than Keelie, Teps finds himself stuck in both a big brother relationship and a father relationship with her. He cares deeply for her and does whatever he can to brighten her day a little, even if it means skipping a day of training to spend the day with her. When with her (or with Naya, actually), Teps seems that much happier, especially when little Keelie ends up smiling and laughing. He’s often sleeping in the same bed as her as well, so she feels safe. Sometimes, however, Naya is the one taking that spot, and sometimes they all sleep together when the day was particularly rough, or when Keelie really wants them to. He treats Keelie like a very young sister because, well, that’s how she acts.

With the much older Naya, however, Teps has a much more natural and serious sibling relationship: while they do poke a bit of fun at each other and such, like siblings and close friends would be expected to do, their discussions tend to be serious, intelligent and even philosophical at times, though Naya is easily the more playful one. Their discussions tend to weave in and out of serious matters, often reminiscing their youth together. Teps and Naya also seem to slowly but surely be falling in love with each other, but it’s still much to early to tell.

However, not everything has gone bad since the trio’s exile. Teps and Naya have befriended the Vle and have found that they are normal people that shouldn’t be feared. As a result of their newly found friendship, Teps and Naya are getting trained by Vle, as the lazy Seaorian way of training is simply not good enough anymore. Already, Teps’s physical abilities have become much better than they were, as he was a subpar Soldier back in Seaorin. He is faster, stronger and more agile, having even gained some muscle mass. However, his stamina is still quite bad.

Ever since the exile and learning that the Vle are good people, Teps has grown to begrudgingly dislike Seaorin as a whole more and more as he keeps meeting people who were exiled for seemingly no reason, like him and his ‘siblings’. As a result, he’s been openly shunning the utopic city and though he finds it difficult to adapt to the Caiatran way of life, he prefers that than living in a society ruled by monarchs who just exile whoever they see fit and lie to their subjects to keep them inside the walls. Luckily for him, Naya and Keelie are of the same opinion.

Though generally rather talkative, Teps has grown to become a rather quiet young man who mainly keeps to himself in public, which when coupled with his now common slight frown makes him seem hard to approach even though he’s sweet and gentle more often than not. He’s far from being shy as well, which makes him good with people in general. He’s a freelancer now, working for any Caiatran to do any job for money to slowly but surely rebuild his family and home.
History: Annaeus was born and quickly abandoned by his biological parents, being a mistake they wanted no part of. Instead of going with abortion, however, they decided to put him in an orphanage and thus, up for adoption, even though very few Seaorians ever adopt children. As a result, Annaeus grew up without parents, but with lots of ‘friends’ who were quite the troublemakers, which resulted in him straying from them quite quickly as he didn’t want to hurt or bother anyone. This mindset made him end up loving humor and he started being the clown of the orphanage.

Of course, this being in Seaorin, Teps was raised the Seaorian way and ended up being a lazy, rather overweight clown. When he was close to being eight years old, a new girl was brought in the orphanage and was immediately shunned by the others due to her dark skin. Feeling bad for the green-haired little girl (as Teps was and still definitely is the kind to try to help everyone and anyone in need), Teps befriended her and they became extremely close extremely fast. The other kids more or less shunned him after this, being afraid of the dark-skinned girl, who was called Naya. Naya was merely two when she befriended Teps, and she was the one who baptised him Teps as she thought Annaeus was a dumb name (and it was hard for him to disagree). The nickname, which obviously stems from Annaeus’s last name, stuck and he adopted it joyfully.

After being pushed and pushed by Naya as the years slowly went by, Teps and the green-haired spitfire opted to become Soldiers. Teps was too clumsy to use ranged weapons, so he stuck with melee weapons. However, one time, during their training, Naya was the clumsy one for once and scraped her knee. Teps, as good-natured as ever, immediately stopped what he was doing and went to check on the young girl. As he gently rubbed her knee in a childish and silly attempt to calm her down, his hand started glowing and the wound was gone. In the following months, Teps worked on his healing magic exclusively, as he felt it would help tremendously to have such an ability, but he wanted to stay a Soldier despite this.

One day, when Teps was twelve and Naya was six, another little girl was brought in the orphanage. She was tiny and very, very young, barely a year old, and she was screaming, screeching, crying her lungs out because she was scared of all the strangers. Teps and Naya were the only ones who approached and consoled her. The little girl, Keelie, grew attached to them after a while and became yet another member of Teps’s pseudo-family. Teps and Naya grew very attached to her, the former becoming somewhat of a father figure to the little, brittle girl. While he very much was a lazy clown, Teps was smart and observant, which was wonderful for Keelie.

The trio steadily grew up and though Naya and Teps had a few arguments, Keelie was always the one who managed to reconcile them. The latter was soon shown to be extremely smart, learning to talk and walk very quickly. Soon enough, the lazy swordsman found himself a job with a wonderful pay, which enabled him to get his own house when he was 18 after about five years of solid work (though he did loaf around a little). By then, Naya also had a small job and Keelie was being taught the ways of Engineers, having an interest in anything that was a machine. Being the kind soul he was, Teps got the house for all three of them so they would be away from the troublemakers at the orphanage.

Their house was little and modest (a teenager had bought it, after all), but it made the three of them happy. The next six years went swimmingly, with Keelie starting to build machines and Naya getting two pet Carbuncles with Keelie and Teps’s permissions, the former immediately loving the two little beasts while the latter found himself growing attached to them with time. Teps was now officially a Seaorian guard, which meant he did little and was paid handsomely, something that went well with his laziness.

Happiness wasn’t meant to last, sadly. As Teps and Naya were living in personal paradises and Keelie was finally learning to face her fears thanks to the advice and support of her two ‘siblings’, despair was looming. One night, there was a knock on the door which woke all five inhabitants (counting the Carbuncles) up. Teps, flanked by his two ‘sisters’ and the two Carbuncles, answered the door and found himself faced with a dozen armed Soldiers and was faced with an ultimatum: either leave Seaorin or be struck down there and then.

Unable to answer in the short five seconds they allowed him, Teps found himself knocked to the ground by a kick to the chest by the closest knight as the others entered the small house. There was fighting, struggling and screaming until an ear-piercing shriek made Naya and Teps stop fighting. On the ground was Keelie in a pool of blood, bruised and battered and crying like she did when she first entered the orphanage, but for another reason: pure agony. Her right arm as well as both her legs were lying near her, disembodied limbs that now served no purpose except covering the ground with her blood. How she managed to stay conscious is still beyond Teps and Naya and even Keelie herself.

Upon seeing little Keelie like this, Teps immediately shouted that they would leave without causing any trouble, not caring in the least that there was no clear reason for this. Keelie was suffering and if leaving would make them back off, then leave they would. Before they knew it, the trio (along with the Carbuncles) were ‘escorted’ outside the walls of Seaorin, Teps and Naya slightly bruised and battered and Keelie a complete mess. Immediately, Teps started healing the poor girl as much as he could, his focus being solely on healing and trying (in vain) to comfort the little engineer.

Eventually, Keelie’s condition was stable, though she was scarred and bruised all over mentally and physically as well as missing three limbs. Naya had gone to get help from a nearby city, and Keelie was saved thanks to these strangers. The citizens of the city, Caiatra, seemed half-surprised at this sudden appearance, as if they were used to it. The trio were flat out given a small house and those who saved Keelie explained that they were Vle. Though Naya felt scared at first, Teps wasn’t. They were people who willingly helped complete strangers, so they couldn’t be as bad as people said. After the sudden assault, Teps was understandably starting to be rather skeptical of the Seaorians, and still is to this day.

Forced to adapt to a new style of life so suddenly, the trio, especially Keelie, had and still is struggling with dampened moods. Keelie, with the help of her two ‘siblings’, managed to create prosthetic limbs after she finally accepted her condition. However, being too weak and sensitive for them has made her unable to use them for very long, resulting in her more or less being stuck in her new room, on her bed, often with Meki and Vita, the two Carbuncles. Naya had to learn how to hunt and Teps became a freelance worker, the two of them being trained by Vle as a welcome gift of sorts, as the two were quite honestly pathetic fighters by Vle standards and mediocre by Seaorian standards.

All this happened merely eight months ago, and the trio is still suffering. Teps lost his smile for the most part and he lost quite a bit of weight as well. Now he is a solemn young man who does what he can to support his only family and friends, adapting to this new life as well as he can. Naya and Keelie are forced to do the same, and all three support each other, even though the latter needs the most support. Still, Teps is still a father figure to Keelie and a big brother to Naya. Now all he can do is truly work for the first time in his life to ensure his family’s survival. For the first time, Teps’s life is hard, and everything just hit him like a concrete wall. Gone is his cheerful, laidback attitude, gone are his playful jokes. All that’s left is a man fighting for the people he loves so much in unknown territory after the city he used to love kicked them all out for no apparent reason.

~HELLO~

Addy's professions and classes are all N/A due to the manner in which she was raised, the wealth of her uncle and her inability to have found her purpose in life...etc. (Explained thoroughly in profile)

Name: Adeline/Addy Rawe
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Vle or Seaorian: Vle
Affiliation: Neutral
Class: N/A
Specialization: N/A
Secondary Class: N/A
Specialization: N/A
Appearance: Standing at 5'5", Addy (left) is quite short for her age although no in comparison to most females. She isn't one to not admit this either and truthfully it simply adds the more the 'childlike' image which she sometimes portrays. Equally so, it is quite easy for her to dissolve among a crowd, being short and smaller than most. On the other hand being short is a hindrance in that she often needs Rhett's assistance to reach items at a higher altitude. Additionally, those that are extremely tall or even tall by a great amount seem to almost loom over her which while she can become accustomed to is somewhat concerning. It is not that she is bothered by the person but rather that their height creates a sense of hanging over her.

With slightly paler skin or average skin tone she doesn't appear as dark skinned as others. This coloration is due to her heritage although its exact origin is unclear. As for markings, it is mostly devoid of them. Having been restricted to a less strenuous lifestyle there was little opportunity for her to have hurt herself and so to have unnatural markings. She does however have a small number of freckles on each cheeks which do not overrun the appearance of her face, therefore, looking more so cute than anything else or simply as another portion of her skin. They are quite easily noticeable when she isn't wearing her mask, especially since her shyness has a tendency to cause her cheeks to become red.

As most people, Addy's eyes are red in color. This being a normal quality there is little to her eyes which makes her unique. As every other they are a gateway to the person within, a key indicator of emotion, but in terms of appearance they are no different from the average human. Her physical oddity is found in her hair which like Rhett's is oddly colored, that of a silvery blonde. While blonde itself is a common hair color the intensity of the silver nature of her hair is what is odd. However, to her it is not an oddity, much like the coloration of Rhett's hair. In fact, Addy somewhat finds character in the color of her hair or at least in that of Rhett's.

Somewhat thick in nature, it collects about her head in clumps. Trimming just above her shoulders, her hair rests from her neck to her forehead in a somewhat unkept fashion which causes the various strands of hair to both go forward and backward in various directions with the most common being front facing. Covering her ears, her bangs are moderately large in length being that they have been grown out. Collecting between her eyes and to either side, her hair is both simple and cute, much more like the style of a child than a fully grown female who would more commonly have lengthier hair.

As for attire, Addy's attire is relatively simple, save for her mask. Her upper attire consists two pieces. The first is her sleeveless shirt which is light tan in color and covered by her rig. This vest like piece of clothing trims at the hip, covering little of her lower front and back. Trimming in a slightly V shaped pattern, the vest is moderately formal while overall casual. It's collar is simply in nature, being two flaps with a series of silver buttons running along the left side of her body. These buttons are used to attach one side of the vest to the other, the right side being wider in length and so cutting across her body rather than cutting down the middle. A slightly darker tan trim runs along these edges, including those of the sleeves which are cut closer into the body than the average vest, therefore exposing a small portion of her upper side located directly beneath the arm. And, while the upper button of the vest is left open, allowing the flap which dissects her body to lay open a small portion, no portion of her chest is visible.

Her lower attire is simpler in nature, consisting of a pair of pants and boots. The pants are dark grey in color and are looser in comparison to the vest being they are meant more for comfort rather than appearance. They are extremely simple in nature, being fashioned by a simple button. Additionally, their more loose nature causes them to collect about her lower leg, poofing just above her boots. These boots are black in color and just as simple as the pants, consisting of a simple form fitting design with two buckled belts running along the upper portion of each leg. Cupping slightly at the top to create a sort of cuff like adornment, the boots are both attractive while being practical.

In addition to this and her rig, Addy also wears a cloak like garment over her attire. It is primarily blue in color with a white design along the trim and upper back. The hood is rather large in size, allowing it to lay atop her head even when wearing her mask. The back of it fans slightly, creating almost a point like shape. The remainder of the cloak trims at about knee length, covering the entireity of her back and somewhat her sides due to the nature in which the cloak is tied about her body. Fashioned at the base of the neck with a small white clip, the cloak folds around her arms, causing the need for it to be pushed aside for use of her arms.

The trim of this cloak is white in color and is shaped somewhat like rounded triangles or even cartoonlike teeth, creating the sense of almost a mouth as the hood. They are quite large in size and wrap about every edge of the cloak save for down the inner flap. Located at the point in which the cloak clips to the other side these sort of teeth overlap and in a sense are the portions of the cloak which tie one side to the other. Additionally, there is a string of teeth along the bottom edge of the cloak, wrapping about her feet. Running along the upper back of the cloak from each side is a white zig zag which serves to simply complete the design and connect one tooth to another. The only oddity about this cloak is the fact that to wear her rig over it seems awkward but to wear it under creates a slight bulge on her back which equally looks peculiar.

Her mask is primarily black in color and is simple in terms of exterior design, the more advanced components being internal. It stretches from midway up the bridge of her nose to the base of her chin, wrapping beneath it slightly. It is slim in nature, having a relatively triangular shape to it. This piece is thin in terms of material thickness and has two circular shaped vent like attachments on each cheek that is covered by a netting not all to unlike that found on a gas mask. In actually the designers had wanted something like a gas mask as the look and feel for the design.

Attached to each cheek, vent, there is a thin black tube which runs from the bottom back side, therefore running in a line with the vent and so not easily seen from the front, that runs over the back of her shoulders, down her back and into the tank located on her back. In addition, two black straps made of an elastic material run about the back of her head, holding the mask in place without requiring her to put it over her hair. This also allows her to wear it about her neck with little worry of it getting damaged. Thus, the mask is also in an easy location if needed.

The rig which holds her medicine tank to her back is slightly complex while in reality being very simple. Situated higher atop her back as to prevent the tanks weight from pulling her shoulders back, the tank rests in a sort of leather holder quite similar in design to that of a quiver, fashioned with a buckled strap. This quiver like adornment is attached to a vest like leather right which is not all too different from Rhett's vest, running over the shoulders with a single strap over the chest. By unbuckling the strap over the chest, the entire rig can be removed while removing the mask takes an additional strap to be unbuckled.

The device works in that even when worn casually, without the intent to take her medicine, she can breathe properly and actually quite easily despite wearing the mask. This is due to the large vents on the cheeks, which are thinner than wide and so do not create a very strong chipmunk look, which allows the passing of air through them. When it comes to taking her medicine, which she must do four time a day every six hours, there is a button on the bottom of each cheek, just close enough to reach with the thumb and third finger. By pressing and holding both a covering slides over the vents while one uncovers the tubing, allowing her to breathe in her medicine as she would normally.

There is a manual override on the tank rig which will allow her to take her medicine quickly if something goes wrong with the mask being the mask will not open the tubed vent until the main vent is closed as to prevent the loss and mixture of her medicine. Additionally, the design requires a form of pressure change to allow the medicine to be taken which is achieved through the opening and closing of the two gates. Therefore, while the rig may seem quite complex, in actuality it is rather simple and easy to use, even for her when he was a small child.

Personality: Addy is in some respects complicated and in others simple. The complication involved in her personality is based around the particular event of her uncle's and Rhett's, her best friend, father's deaths. Being only fourteen at the time and having lived with her uncle eleven years while knowing Rhett and his father for seven, her reaction to the events which occurred that day are highly justifiable. In fact, even medically supported. The simple truth is that Addy is mute, a mutism induced through the traumatic experience of seeing two people she greatly loved die in a manner which was both unpreventable and which she could not help with. Therefore, being forced to watch such a horrible event knowing that there is nothing which can be done is mentally disturbing and violating, leading to her mutism.

On some level it is that she can't speak. On another it is that she won't. To be truthful, it is a complicated mental ordeal which took place that day which while being able to be determined as the source of her mutism, its extent is unknown. At first it was a difficult thing to adjust to but it was different for Addy versus Rhett. To Addy it was simply a nightmare, a memory which so deeply wounded her that she won't speak. To Rhett it was a punishment, especially with the singing she used to perform before. In truth it was the event which haunted Addy, not her mutism. And to this day it still does. Ever since then she has not muttered a single word. Only does she speak in her dreams and even then it's simply memories of what used to be; each ending with the blaze which took it all from her.

Due to this, she will not speak, not even to Rhet. She does know this to be hurtful to him and that he tries many a times to get her to break her silence if it were to be broken but she simply cannot. At times she wishes she could, wishes she could sing to him again but any attempt to do so is futile. It is not only that she won't but that she can't. In part this is due simply to the extent of the event itself but also its repeated exposure. Due to this she is somewhat scared of going to sleep, fearful that if she were to close her eyes her uncle would appear before her, a smile which would turn demonic. Each remembrance is a pain and so sleep does not come easy. Therefore, Rhett plays music which sooths her and allows her to fall asleep without worry, decreasing the chance her uncle will appear. The sad fact however, is that due to the constant apparition of her uncle she has come to both love and hate him.

Additionally, much like Rhett, Addy has a fear of fire, for obvious reasons. It isn't exactly the idea of burning or of the fire touching her but more so the memory which it calls to mind. It is the thought of her uncle and Rhett's father, the manner in which they died that makes her fearful of fire. This in itself is an oddity in that it is not the fire itself which is scary but what it calls to mind. Regardless of how she interprets fire or by what means she is frightened of it, her and fire do not get along. It is both concerning and deserving of wariness. Also, two qualities of fire: 1) smoke and 2) heat, are quite harmful to her condition, both having a direct affect on her ability to breath and so creating the possibility of triggering her. In this way she is both cautious and fearful of it.

Her mutism itself has become simply a quality of her which she has come to accept. Afteral, other than the inability to speak it causes no other effects and so does little physically. Additionally, it does not hinder her ability to wear her mask, previously speech being muffled by the device. Without the need to speak she can wear her mask to her heart's content without the worry of miscommunication between her and others. Therefore, her mask can function as the safeguard which she thinks it to be and so despite its optional wearing when there is no need for her medicine to be taken, she can wear it practically all of the time. To some extent this creates a barrier with outsiders being that their desire to directly address her when wearing it is diminished.

Truthfully, she likes this barrier. Communication with the outside world, strangers in particular, is difficult and frightening. Others will think of her differently, will not understand, and so she rather wishes they consult with Rhett than her. She finds it somewhat embarrassing when others can't understand her and so she is shy out of the fear of social interactions. Unwilling to be spoken to or be put into situations which demand her to respond, Addy walks behind Rhett, sticking close to him, often head down, hand outstretched to his. She is almost a small, fragile child who looks to her big brother for strength and protection.

The love which she has for Rhett is unbounding and in a sisterly fashion. He granted her her freedom and in doing so became her first and greatest friend. Therefore, he holds a great place to her for all that he has done and all that he is. Knowing him for what he truly is and having great respect and gratitude towards him, Addy does whatever she possibly can for him; making meals, running into town, etc. If he were sad, she'd comfort him and if he mad would try to calm him or at least repair whatever might have become broken. Whatever he is in need of, she will attempt to comply and be of help.

Her condition is manageable as well. Having lived her entire life with such a condition, she is quite knowledgeable of the effects which it can have upon her and the way in which her medication functions. Even so, Rhett's care and questioning is greatly appreciated. She is knowing that he means well and is the one who makes sure she takes her medicine during nights. Without him she could truthfully manage but it would be more difficult to an extent that there would be no one to second check her own efforts. And, if an attack were to occur in her condition, a helpful hand in the wrong situation could lead to saving her life if such events put her life into danger.

Due to her mutism her manner of communication is different than that of others for obvious reasons. With the inability to speak, her primary form of communication is expressed through her physical demeanor and body language. Facial expressions and physical actions convey her meanings in addition to a few select motions which both Rhett and her understand to have a meaning. In time it is a form of communication which can be understood but when first meeting her it is easier to use Rhett as a form of translator. To some extent this is embarrassing to her, to have to rely upon him for others to understand her properly, and at times this can lead to sadness.

Unable to communicate 'properly', frustration can ensue. At times the desire to speak is overwhelmingly strong and yet no matter how hard she tries, she simply cannot, leading to sadness. Unknowing of why she was born with such a restricting condition, of why she experienced such a traumatic event, she questions what her purpose is, what it could be. She wonders what she could possibly be meant to do in the condition that she is and so she is confused. She has no overwhelmingly strong talents, no natural expertise in any area. There had been no time, no possibility for her to have gained such skills. When young she couldn't leave nor could she learn her uncle's trade, the chemicals hazardous to her. There wasn't a place for her and now all she has is Rhett.

While she could live without Rhett, she never wants to be without him. She hadn't imagined what life would be like without him at her side if it were not for that one day when he almost wasn't. It was then that she realized just how much she cared and needed him. He naturally knows this, understanding her better than any other and he is appreciative of this, knowing very well that he could have left long ago but chose to stay. Because of this she does whatever she can to please him, to make sure that he feels as if what he has done has been worth his efforts. While she may not physically protect him right off the bat, she can become angered. Deep down, despite how strong and helpful she tries to be for Rhett, she is weak and ultimately needs him.

When it comes to matters regarding outsiders, she is human. If one is in need of help she will offer assistance and so is quite honestly a nice and well brought up girl. She simply lets her fears and worries drive her to be silent and shy. She is not withdrawn or depressed. Slightly haunted, yes. After all, such a traumatic event would leave one moderately haunted and it would have been far stranger than her mutism if she hadn't been haunted. Despite all this, she is normal in her own way. She is just as kind, just as human but simply in a different form with a different way of 'speaking'. This does not mean she should be looked at differently although it is true that some do. Not everyone can understand her and in this is her shyness.

She is willing to learn though, to trust. It simply takes some time during which others become accustomed to her condition and her to their learning of her means of communication. At first it is both frustrating and embarrassing. She thinks it somewhat weak to ask Rhett to translate but she knows very well that she needs it for others to learn to understand her. It wasn't horribly hard. She'd had a number of years to learn tricks on how to convey what she means through anything other than speaking but not everyone understands the same or as quickly. Regardless, she does what is required and if this means letting Rhett speak for her, she is more than happy to do so.

There is a limit to how much interaction she will allow with another. For instance, holding hands as she does with her brother is nothing she would ever do with any other although hugs are acceptable. Additionally, she will not and will attempt to stay true to the fact that she won't go anywhere without Rhett. She may have done so when younger but that was because his anger demanded that she do so. Now that that did not drive her, to be with him means safety and so to be without him is concerning. For very short periods of time it is alright although she will miss him dearly and embrace him upon their reunion. She has after all never left his side since she was fourteen and rarely before then either.

However, night is the ultimate exception. If Rhett is not with her she will not and cannot sleep, even if another plays music. Without him there she does not feel safe sleeping for one thing because of her dreams and for another because she must either awake herself or be awoken to take her medicine, lest her condition worsen. Therefore, if there were ever a time in which the two need be separated, night is the least favorable. While it is true at some point that sleep would overcome Addy, despite her wishes, by doing so she risks not waking to take her medicine. Regardless, of all times of the day, night is the most difficult. The remainder is manageable and of little concern.

Otherwise, life is simple. Knowing full well what physically can be done, her condition is quite stable with mainly unknown factors being possible threats. And despite her uncle's death she is well cared for and so still feels as if there is a family for her, Rhett. Her true parents she does not remember and due to her uncle's vague reference to them, she neither has little knowledge nor knowing of where they currently are. On some level she wonders where they might be and what it might be like to meet them but she is content. Nearly everything she could want, she already had. Therefore, she is not greedy. However, somewhat envious when others communicate freely but cannot understand her.

These inner emotions she does not 'speak' of, having no desire to tell anyone save her brother who already can read her emotions without her being so obvious. It might be due to the young age in which they met or the number of years they've communicated through the barrier of mutism that made their interactions so easily understandable. This she is greatly thankful for; that he can understand nearly everything without her having to struggle to explain herself. Therefore, when alone life is normal, almost as if she could physically speak. There is no barrier between them, no restrictions on their friendship.

Truth be told, what restrictions she has are not only due to her condition and mutism but are restrictions placed on herself by herself. He desire to refrain from leaving Rhett and from avoiding social situations are both restrictions which she has created rather than ones created through a necessity. In some manner of speaking however, these restrictions are necessities. They allow her to feel more safe and to be at ease, traits which simply make life more enjoyable. And while when with strangers she may be shy and 'weaker' in a sense of speaking, when alone with Rhett she does not feel stressed or off put. In actuality she feels completely comfortable and so it is then that she is truly herself.

History: Addy was born Adeline Rawe. She was born rather small and early. Due to this she wasn't allowed to leave a doctor's care when a child would normally be released. During the first month of her life, all of this time was spent in care, her parents did not leave her side. It was true that at times her father would have to work but the remainder of his time was spent with his wife and first born child. They were naturally concerned for their daughter, her breathing irregular but what cause was unknown. It would be roughly one month after her birth that she would be diagnosed with a severe respiratory condition that made it difficult to breath in certain situations. Thankfully, there was a medication which she responded favorably to and so was discharged on week later.

The years which followed were restrictive. Addy's parents had had enough income at the time of her birth to afford the initial tank and rig which would allow her to take her medication. However, this tank was highly impractical. In its most simply components it consisted of two moderately large sized tanks that sat in a cart with a very simple means of inhaling device. It was in all respects clunky and far heavier than a more advanced model could be but such models cost a great deal, far too much for the modest income her parents made. Therefore, she was forced to adjust and to become accustomed to her tank being that she had no real chose in the matter, her medication essential.

For three years her parents were capable of affording her medication, each tank lasting roughly three months, however; it was a slightly less common medication, especially in such a quantity. Therefore, her father would either have to travel to a neighboring city or pay a traveling merchant to get it for him. This was naturally costly and time consuming. For some time it wasn't too much of a loss, the care of his daughter being the ultimate goal after all but with time it became too costly. Addy's mother couldn't work because someone needed to watch their child and there was no family close or nannies that wouldn't charge more than her monthly income would be. So with time their income decreased, her father unable to keep up with the costs of her medication.

This dilemma led to much thought. There was little that could be done for their now three year old daughter. She needed her medication and if they could not afford it then Addy would have to be given to the care of another. Naturally, this was very hard for her parents. They knew that their child would be going to good hands but ultimately there was the possibility that they might never see their daughter again or at least for a great number of years at which point Addy might not even remember them. In the end they did what they could and took Addy to her father's brother's house, her uncle.

Her uncle was slightly older than her father and was the first born. He'd followed the trade of an alchemist and was very skilled, therefore; wealthy. His house was relatively large, his nest empty. He'd never been one for marriage, yet, he was loved by a number of women in his years, all who gave up on his stubbornness in time. Regardless, he sympathized with his brother and agreed to raise the small child as his own, granting her the nickname Addy. He had been chosen as her new guardian for one thing because of his wealth. He would have little difficulty affording her medication. It being something she would need for a great deal of her life if not it entirety. In addition, the town in which he lived carried the exact model of medication she needed, eliminating the extensive time previously required.

In the next four years Addy grew a strong bond with her uncle. He was a very kind and loving guardian after all. Treating her as if his own child, she was happy. He taught her everything, even answering every single question she could possibly have, and watched her with care. He did so not only due to her condition but out of love. With this mindset, his goal was often to make the young girl smile and despite have never settled down, he liked the idea of being a 'father'; at least to Addy.

Not everything was simple though. For one thing, Addy couldn't accompany him when he was working, the various toxic chemicals having the potential of triggering her. This took a long while to explain to such a child, that no matter what it was for her safety to never entre the room being at the time her medication could not be brought with her. The principle of her medicine alone was hard to teach. She knew something bad would happen if she didn't but her understanding to the extent was faltered. Therefore, for some time she questioned why she had to take it, why she couldn't go out to play. All she knew was that the other children could and for some reason she could not. In this way she became envious of them, they being able to make friends, but in time she accepted her condition and the stipulation which it demanded.

Having come to this acceptance, Addy lived out her days with her uncle. They would go to the market together, read together, and play at times. Every moment, save for when he worked, they spent in each other's company, often talking about everything and anything which she wanted to know. Sometimes it was about her condition, for instance why she must take her medicine at night, and at others about his work, for example what he made. And, with time she soon developed a key understanding of a number of things. She learnt as well that despite the manner in which her condition required he to live it was not something worth being sad about or envious of others. Therefore, she grew mentally somewhat quickly compared to other children, although, only on particular matters.

When it happened that her uncle was working she would sit in the windowsill and look outside or read a book. It was peaceful and relaxing and so was why she enjoyed it. Additionally, if she happened to come across an interesting piece of text or observe an oddity she could ask her uncle about it later. There was a small desire to be just as knowledgeable as he was within her and so she took to gathering what she could. In time her uncle, knowing while her restrictions were important also hindered her ability to simply be a child and so one day he allowed her to go into the garden while he worked. It wasn't like she'd never been before. She'd been many times but never without her uncle at her side. Therefore, at first it was somewhat intimidating but the freedom created joy.

From that day on she was allowed to go outside when her uncle worked with only a few minor rules to guide her: 1) she could not leave the grounds of the house or garden, 2) she had free will to roam as long as she returned within one hours time, 3) and her activities during this time were to be limited to what she knew she could do. Naturally, at first her uncle was moderately concerned for her safety and at times would walk about the house looking through the windows to check on her without her knowing. It was an act of kindness and compassion which he performed but he also wanted Addy to feel as if she too had freedom and so he watched her secretly. In time he became less worried and Addy was no longer watched so strongly. She still envied the children outside the gate but she was much happier with her privilege to go outside on her own.

During this time she had had a few minor concerns and a few major concerns but all forms of disaster were adverted. With this came an understanding of her condition and how it affected her when she was in need of her medication. Therefore, despite her uncle's close care, she could tell herself when she was in need of her medication or when she is in need of slowing down to advert from a possible misfortune. Therefore, she is skilled and knowledgeable of the way in which her condition and medication function. Due to this, she can properly take care of herself in this regard, although, a watchful eye is always appreciated.

It is at age seven, when playing out in the garden on day, that she meets a boy who will become her best friend, her big brother. He called to her through the gate that first day but she did not respond. The rule was to not let anyone in and she'd not seen or interacted with this boy before so she was somewhat shy. This boy, who was two years older than her and had an oddly colored blue hair, did not give up. From that day on he returned to the gate and called to Addy. One day he brought a toy, a small contraption of his own design. It wasn't very advanced nor did it serve a purpose. In all respects it was simply a toy which he hoped would attract the attention of the girl. Honestly, it did.

The object, which he'd brought, she'd never seen before, it being of his creation, and so she was intrigued. Due to this she walked to the gate and asked him what it was. He naturally responded, saying they could play with it if she'd come out. Knowing very well that she couldn't, she said that she was ill. At first he thought it was something he could catch, her being vague, but she reassured him that it was not. For the remainder of that hour she sat by the gate, him on the other side, and talked. He told her about his father, he being the one who taught him how to make the toy, while she talked about her uncle, him being an alchemist.

When it came time that she return to the house she said goodbye to the boy, promising to return the following day. Being slightly late, her uncle had seen her at the gate with the boy, having looked out to find her. Naturally, he questioned her in a kind manner at that days dinner. He was pleased that she was making what appeared to be a friend but also somewhat bothered. She'd broken a rule technically and he didn't know this boy but they were on separate sides of the gate and so her uncle approved of her talking to him. This pleased Addy and for some time she spent what time she could with this boy, Rhett. He was kind to her despite her inability to come outside the gate and to play as children do. In time this would change.

One day he brought his father with him, having told him about Addy. Getting her uncle, Rhett and his father were invited to dinner. During this time Addy's uncle questioned both Rhett and his father, the second primarily. In time they found a common ground between their engineering and alchemy. They easily became friends and began to collaborate, always at Addy's and her uncle's home for obvious reasons. Rhett also came during this time. Both pairs grew close and became good friends. It still stood that Addy had limits and knowing this, her uncle requested that Rhett's father might take a look at her tank. It was his hope that perhaps with his engineering skills he might be able to make a more convenient way for Addy to take her medication.

Within a short time an alteration was made and Addy was gifted a portable and realistic means of administering her medicine. Being a sort of back tank and mask combination, Addy could now carry her medicine with her and so she could leave the 'grounds' without someone always at her side. It is heavy for the eight year old and takes time to get used to but Addy is eternally grateful for the freedom she has been given and for the next six years she grew up with Rhett. He showed her the town and those places outside her uncle had never shown her. After all, not every place had been so safe before nor had there been much purpose of going there.

Addy's condition was stable during this time with a few flares here and there that were only natural but with her new medication she as safer than she'd ever been. In addition, Rhett had been instructed by her uncle on the condition and actions required of Addy, therefore; creating a second safeguard and so he became her watchful big brother. She cared for him as a sister too, following him and answering every request. Additionally, she sang to him. She'd done so before when they first met in the garden but before Rhett she'd sung to herself. Now, she sang for him. She wasn't the best naturally but she wasn't horrible either and so he appreciated it. In this manner they became very close, Rhett giving her the freedom she'd dreamed of with the help his father.

In this time, her uncle and his father grew very close as well. They often spent the day together and stayed up late at night working on various projects. They'd begun to collaborate and were making great progress in one of their projects to the point of a breakthrough. It was on the verge of this discovery that tragedy struck. It came in the form of a fire which started due to the improper and accidental mixture of chemicals. It was also a fire which took the life of both Addy's uncle and Rhett's father. Unfortunately, the air had been there in the garden during the time and so saw the fire, unable to do anything for the ones they loved. Both are instantly struck with grief, Addy crying and Rhett simply in pure shock. This is the last time that Addy ever spoke, gaining trauma induced mutism, with her last words being words of grief and comfort to her best friend.

Overwhelmed with grief for his father and sympathy for his friend, Rhett slips into a depression like state. In this he becomes quiet and no longer invents. What remains of Addy's home becomes their home and together they live there, avoiding the wing of the house in which their love ones died. The remainder of the town knows of the fourteen and sixteen year old living alone as well as the deaths which took place but rarely do they see them. The gates are kept locked with only the doctor visiting every once and a while to check on Addy. It is he who comes to the conclusion that she will never speak again and upon this Rhett becomes enraged.

He feels pain, that she does not deserve what has been taken. Due to this, he becomes violent, breaking items in the house, including those which belonged to his father and Addy's uncle. Confused and disillusioned, he feels that if he destroys these memories they can heal. However, Addy does not stop him. Instead she silently cleans after him, often crying at the loss of a treasured item. Rhett is knowing of this as well. Having seen her in the act many a time, he becomes riddled with guilt and in time comes to the conclusion that it is all his fault. He'd introduced his father to Addy's uncle, showed her the world and then took it from her. Even now, he still caused her pain.

Consumed with such thoughts, he comes to the conclusion that Addy would be better off without him and so he attempts to take his life. Climbing he staircase to the roof of the house, he stands at the edge, prepared to free Addy from the burden he's given to her. However, u to his previous behavior, she'd been watching him so that she might help if he turned to one of his rages and so she followed him to the roof. Once she caught on she instantly ran to him, hugging him and refusing to let go, crying. She almost became desperate, clinging to him as she attempted to pull him back from the edge and despite her inability to speak, her meaning was clear. He embraced her in return, apologizing and promising that he would never leave. Naturally, he is forgiven.

From then on, life improves, she fifteen and he seventeen. Rhett returns to inventing, determined to live up to his father and to have the skill to upgrade and maintain Addy's rig. With a purpose to live, he becomes calm, becomes himself. Addy watches and cares for him like a loving sibling. When sad, she comforts him. When lonely, she is at his side. He is everything to her, forgetting her inability to speak, her condition. He understands her and cares for her. She'll never blame him for what he did but she fears that it might happen again. In this manner she is wary. If she were to get hurt, he would blame himself. Therefore, she takes little risk, following behind him.

Due to her previous condition at night and during extensive physical activities, she must wear her mask but is able to breathe fine when relaxing. Sometimes she even wears it as a safeguard, a reassurance. She has no need to speak afterall. In some way it comforts Rhett despite being a reminder in that if needed she can easily and quickly administer her medicine. He does regardless ask her if she has taken it and often checks her tank to see how much is left before they must get another. In this manner he watches over her but he struggles.

She has become shy in the fact that being unable to speak she fears others will not understand her and so doesn't take charge or stand for herself. In reality she places such a role to Rhett, despite having gone to the village numerous times directly after becoming mute, making locals known of her condition. It is the trauma of the event which makes her how she is and so she clings to Rhett and he protective of her. In past and present, she tried her best to return such care and love to him, after all, he made it so she could see the world, he'd given her a friend. Now, the hardest thing was not speaking but singing. This she could no longer do and so Rhett takes up an instrument, the music soothing her to sleep. It is a trade for the singing she granted him before her mutism.

In time they become accustomed to the changes, she accepting to most concepts of her new condition and he to the events of the past. He still worries for her though, her mutism being trauma induced. He wonders if she dreams of that day, is she'll ever speak again despite what they'd been told. She seventeen and he nineteen, the pair are accustomed and accepting to the hand fate has dealt them. Their understanding of one another is so great that her condition is not a hindrance and by continuing the same maintenance as before, she can live a normal life. In this, he shows her many things hoping to make her happy, to cure her inability to speak. He desires to be the one to break the spell if fate would have it be broken.

She is eternally grateful or the love he gives her an is ultimately happy and able to adjust because of him. Most of their day is spent outside the house in the garden or within the village. Most often it is simply the two of them which while somewhat sad is all that they need. They met at quite the young age after all and so have known each other for most of their lives. Without their uncle and father, each other are all that they have and so each care a great deal about the other, especially through their shared trauma.

There is little worry from day to day about her condition, the proper precautions put into place. It is only during strenuous activities that there is a moderate worry. She is skilled enough to know when it feels as if her chest is tightening and she can't breathe well to take her medicine and so traumatic reactions are quite rare. It has simply become a part of daily life, to always carry the tank and mask as well as administer the medicine. She doesn't complain either, knowing very well that she needs it and so even when woken in the middle of the night, Rhett always helpful, she does not pout. This adds strength to him, to see her strong and accepting of her lifestyle despite it being what it is. Despite this, he helps her with anything physical, attempting to lessen the burden. After all, the rig she has now does spread the weight of the tank but alot of pressure is put when the tank is full. Therefore, he carries heavy things for her. Truth be told, she is grateful for this knowing very well that she would struggle to carry a great deal of weight in addition to her tank. She is after all only average in terms of physical strength, if not slightly weaker.

With those that she knows, she is not shy, knowing very well that they would not judge her for her mutism or fail to understand her, Rhett in particular. With strangers however, she is shy, often sticking very close to Rhett and looking to the ground in an attempt to not be noticed. In this manner her mutism can be misinterpreted as only shyness but it is her appearance which convey the condition she carries, although not all may recognize it right out.

It is clear there is some sort of abnormality about her, particularly if she is wearing her mask at the time, which she often is. Rhett knows of her displeasure and so will often try to wrap up conversations or make up some excuse for her rather than to instantly leap to the truth. After all, it's not his place to tell others, but her decision. Naturally, he must do the talking, those having never interacted with someone with mutism most likely having trouble understanding her, but he often waits for her permission. In all he still wants Addy to feel as if she is her own person with her own rights to do as she pleases and so he is quite lenient towards her.

Addy is ultimately happy. It is true there is a burden to her existence and red in her past but she has coped with it well for the most part. Her mutism is the main indication of her mental struggle, with the rest if there be any being secrets. Physically it is clear that something isn't exactly 'normal' with her but this she has accepted. It has dictated the way in which she interacts with others but there is little worry with Rhett at her side. He will defend her, watch over her, and care for her if needed, much like she will do for him. They are more than friends but family, a sister and brother meeting years after their birth but together from the start.

So I got caught up in homework and stress and whatnot, so I haven't been on at all lately. So I will read that profile during the night, as I sit up and write because I'm so done with school work right now.

Edit: if either Rhett or Addy die, I will cry. I swear, I will cry more than I have at any John Green book. Accepted.

Just wanna make sure you didn't miss my profile above Addy's. :P

I do agree that Addy and Rhett are an amazing duo, as well.
