In Astrolus' case, is Space considered matter itself, giving him powers such as telekinesis, or literally all existence beyond the edges of Earth's atmosphere, giving him powers over things such as solar flares, comets, neutrinos, etc, etc? In physics, the word can mean either of the two.

That's what I thought, but I meant if the objects would start behaving under the normal laws of physics(i.e. gravity).

After the objects are created, the objects are subject to any and all forces where it is created. Also, the objects can only be created if they are able to exist in that place in the first place (you can't make a rock in a block of ice, if there is no gap for the rock to go in for example).
HOWEVER I'd say that in Astrolus' case, he would be able to control the object for a small amount of time (say 5 minutes) during which normal forces and laws apply LESS than normal. I hope that explains it... --------------------      |

I think you use them, for example. You could create, say a sword from the nothingness within your hands and then use it. I would imagine that you could also cause that same created object to disappear but I don't think it would take on physical properties of it's own being. It's hard to decide because when we made the first one I don't think we had a user being Space.

There was a character in a book I was writing a few years ago that was similar to Astrolus, in that he was more or less a personification of matter. If I remember right, he didn't literally create something from nothing, he just converted energy from his body(or, in theory, any other source of energy) into matter that coalesced into a shape he could use, made from a material he could use. He could also control matter with telekinesis, but I think I explained it as localized manipulation of Quantum Gravity.

Quick question if you will, umm what sort of time frame are we talking about here? completely modern, middle age sort of battling, please elaborate a little.

@otter: mm.... well the downfall of almost all their powers is that it takes a toll on their energy, which most magic circumstances do. So of course technically he would be drawing energy from himself to create the object, which in turn would have to be something he could use. Just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page before I started giving him powers he shouldn't have.
Also, after looking up the character in question on my computer, I remembered that he also had a "cache" of energy that he could store a little at a time in, and call on later with explosive results. If you've read the Eragon books by Christopher Paolini, think of the way they store energy in gems. If you haven't, I recommend you do, and think about...um...*scratches head for a few minutes in deep thought* Think of the supernatural equivalent of stock investment.
