What started out as a few backend code updates I wanted to make eventually turned in to a large number of updates to the Poketch and other sections, and now I'm finally ready to release them. I'll outline all the various updates and additions here:
New notification bar - The old notification area to the right of the updates has been removed, and replaced with a bar. - The bar can be positioned at the top, or bottom of the page, or right under the main navigation via a setting in the Poketch. - The icons can be positioned to the left or to the right via a setting in the Poketch. - The hatch and daycare egg notifications now display how many eggs there are. - There are several new notifications: one for Pokemon ready to evolve/form-change/corrupt, one for Exploration task completion, one for the readout from your Scouter, one for your points, and one for how many Shelter grabs you have remaining. There is also one for when your Mobile Walker is ready to be activated. - The hatch and evolution notifications will automatically initiate the hatch and change all options when clicked, as well. - Some of these notifications are updated immediately, others will only update every few minutes. It's been coded so that they should automatically update outside of the normal time limits whenever it's relevant to do so, however. - You can also set three stats to be displayed up here, in the settings tab in your Poketch. General improvements - Evolving, and form changing Pokemon is much simpler, as all options are automatically displayed in the options dropdown. - Heart Scales, Focus Sashes and Flame Orbs are now more integrated - they'll automatically be used if necessary when you hatch or release a Pokemon, or move them to the Vs. Seeker, and can be used from the hatch/release all options. You'll be notified if they are to be used, however. - Pokemon can now be moved from any location to any other location - that is to say, you could move from the Daycare and move straight to the Vs. Seeker, or Underground, for example. - A lot of the old backend code has been replaced with the new, updated code made when I made the Mobile site... though they aren't things you'd specifically notice, this makes it all a lot more flexible and easier to modify, for any additions to be made in the future. Poketch - Improved how tabs are loaded to improve performance on slower computers and slower browsers (namely Firefox). - Party options have been completely redone; there's now one for evolving/form-changing/corrupting your entire party, and also the move to PC one now includes all other locations, and is generally more flexible as well. - There's also a new option where you can hatch eggs and then immediately have them moved to a PC box. Daycare, Poke Walker, Vs. Seeker, Underground tabs - Pokemon are now displayed similarly to the party - you have easy access to nickname, evolve, releasing them, and so on, the one exception being that you can't touch Vs. Seeker Pokemon until their battle is complete. Vs. Seeker - Battle history is now paginated. - Withdrawing a Pokemon from the Vs. Seeker will now indicate how much EXP they've gained. - If you have a Focus Sash, when withdrawing a Pokemon from the Vs. Seeker, you can immediately redeposit them. Poke Walker - If you find an item that of which you already have 10, you'll gain its point value instead. - You can withdraw a Pokemon from your Walker and immediately deposit them back in, without having to move them to your party or something in between. Released Pokemon tab - Replaced the larger Pokemon images with their smaller icons. - Paginated it, rather than displaying everything at once. - Added an option to filter the page by Pokemon of any species. - General performance improvements. Bred Pokemon tab - Replaced larger images with smaller icons. - Paginated it, as to not display everything at once. - Added various sorting options, by first or last egg bred, total bred, or number of shinies or novelty Pokemon bred. - More information is now displayed about the pair. As of this update, all eggs are counted, not just ones that presently exist. - General performance improvements. Settings tab - Removed a few older settings that aren't needed anymore. - Added two new settings for the new notification bar. Inventory tab - More usable items can now be used from here. Many, when used, will also take you to the page relevant to the item (Summoning Items, Sweet Honey, Discount Coupon and others). Statistics tab - Added a few previous added stats that weren't yet displayed here. - Added in some new stats pertaining to the Shine Recorder. Mobile Walker tab - The Mobile Walker, which previously only existed on the Mobile Site, can now be used from the main site as well. - You can deposit up to three Pokemon and eggs (provided they are at least an hour old) in it, and they gain maturity whenever it's activated, based on how far you've travelled between activations (this means if you're constantly activating from the same location, they'll gain little maturity). - More information on how to use it is available in its tab. - Note that at the time of writing, no version of Internet Explorer supports the HTML5 geolocation feature, so consequently, it isn't usable at all in IE. Older versions of many other browsers also do not properly support it. The page will attempt to check if your browser supports it and notify you if it does not. - This can be used from any computer (provided a modern web browser) to gain EXP! You don't have to use a cell phone. There are still a few other things that I need to do that'll be added in to this thread when they're done, or maybe get their own... we'll see. Any comments can be posted here. Bugs and errors can go in the subforum, rather than this thread, please, so that they don't get buried and will must more easily grab my attention, yup yup. Yay, updates are always fun. Note that I will be working on some updates as well, including finally revamping the dress up page and maybe if I think up any updates to the PC page. The site will also have its own register page so new users don't have to come to the forums to do so, but none of you have to worry about that.

Awesome.
I do like the new set-up, though. It'll take some getting used to, but it's nice. Okay. I REALLY like the scouter. <3 This post has been edited by Mebukijika: Jan 25 2011, 11:00 PM -------------------- |

I don't like the change that the flame orbs and heartscales will be automatically used if necessary. This post has been edited by AmyL: Jan 25 2011, 10:55 PM -------------------- |
