Hope's Peak Academy

On a prime plot of real estate in the center of a large city in Japan sits this prestigious private academy with several hundred years of history, known for consistently sending its top students into leading roles in every professional field. Each year, Hope's Peak hand-picks fifteen exceptional high school students who excel in their respective fields of expertise. Starting this year, the school has also decided to select one additional new student chosen by lottery from all of the country's average high school students.

The general opinion is that graduating from this academy leads to success in life. Now that you have been chosen for and accepted into Hope's Peak Academy, you must be prepared for --

*DING DONG DING DONG*

Ehh... welcome to Hope's Peak Academy! This is a school announcement.
I'm Monobear, your new headmaster! Nice to meet you all!
You bastards are most certainly all geniuses filled with overflowing talent. You bring hope to the world! And in order to preserve that hope, you will live a communal lifestyle inside this school's walls from now on! In other words, you bastards will live here for the rest of your lives, completely shut off from the outside world! Don't worry: we have plenty of funding, so anything you bastards could possibly require for a normal lifestyle will be provided for you!
But as this school's headmaster, I've decided to make a special rule for people who want to leave the school. It's a rule called "graduation"! That is, if one of you bastards decides to break the order of the communal school life by killing another student... that person alone is allowed to leave the school.
If a student is murdered, a School Trial will be held! Here, you bastards have a chance to figure out the culprit behind the murder. If you are successful in doing so, the culprit will be executed!
However, if the murderer keeps their crime a secret from the rest of you bastards... they will graduate, and the person you falsely accused will be executed! Then you'll all be murderers!
Are you prepared for this high school life of hope and despair?

Name: Kiyoshi Mizuki

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Super High School Level: Surfer

Appearance: Kiyoshi stands at 6' 1 and weighs 212 lbs. He has an athletic muscular build and tanned skin. he has a good looking face with a squared jaw, narrow brow and small pointed nose. His eyes are a dark green, and are narrow, often looking like they're half-closed. His hair is a dirty blonde and falls down to the back of his neck in a messy unkempt style, he also has slight stubble, looking like he hasn't shaved in a few days. He also has a tattoo of an eagle on his back with the wing tips on either shoulder blade.

For clothing, Kiyoshi likes simple and comfortable. He wears a loose white shirt which he often leaves unbuttoned, along with black 3/4 shorts and black flip-flops. He also has a shark tooth pendant which he wears on a string round his neck.

Personality: Kiyoshi is in simple terms, an easygoing guy. He loves to just step back and take life at an easy pace. He rarely ever stresses out about things, and is always looking on the positive side. This makes him avery friendly individual, and he's usually the peace maker when fights break out among his friends, He has a good sense of humor, and always tries to do what he can to cheer up his friends. He likes to treat everyone equally, and doesn't really care about how someone looks or behaves, and always tries to see the good in people

That isn't to say he's perfect. His laidback attitude also makes him lazy, and he often neglects certain tasks, usually saying he'll get to them later. He can usually be found sleeping wherever he can, his, a table, a sturdy tree branch, whatever's there at the time. His friendly nature can also lead him to be a bit naive and overly trusting, and he often zones out and misses important things in conversations. However when the situation calls for it he has shown himself to be resourceful and good at improvising.

Background: Kiyoshi was born on the southern coast of Hokkaidō. His father worked in the IT department of a large Law Firm, and his mother was a massage therapist. Though they didn't have much income, they would always spent as much as they could in order to make sure that Kiyoshi was happy. While grateful, Kiyoshi would usually just lie around instead of spending the money his parents gave him. he told them that he was saving for something important, he just didn't know what was important at the time.

Living on the coast, Kiyoshi and his family often traveled to the local beaches every weekend. When Kiyoshi was 10, they were at the beach when he noticed a group of surfers out on the waves. The way they moved so smoothly over the waves and with such ease was almost inspiring to Kiyoshi. He knew then what to spend his money on. The next day he traveled to the local surf shop and bought the best board he could find. He then spent every weekend he could practicing as hard as he could in order to become as good as those guys he had seen.

After 5 years of training, Kiyoshi had become so good he was starting to be invited to tournaments all across Japan. He was even invited to one in America, but before he could go, misfortune reared it's ugly head. Kiyoshi's parents were involved in a traffic accident when driving to pick him up the beach. His father was killed and his mother left in critical condition. Kiyoshi spent the next year taking care of her at home, having to work a job as well as keeping up with school. He would also go to surfing competitions in the hopes of getting prize money now and then so he could help.

When he was 17, Kiyoshi had a breakthrough. He had been entered as a wildcard in the biggest surfing competition in Japan, and managed to get to 3rd place. To get this well at such a young age got him a lot of TV attention, and sson many companies and agents heard about his difficult lifestyle. A such he was signed on to half a dozen sponsorship deals and the money was no longer a problem for him and his mother. However with the new sponsorships and tournaments he was expected to attend, Kiyoshi was starting to fall behind in school. He was'nt sure if he was going to pass or not when he received his invitation to Hope's Peak. Excited at the prospect of starting over with a new school, he managed to negotiate with his agent to get time off from working while he was at the Academy.

Other: Kiyoshi always carries a picture of him with his parents when he was younger as a memento and to remind him of where he came from.

NB: I'll finish this later, have to go for now.

Name: Nanami “Nami” Hatori
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Super High School Level: Hacker

Appearance: Nanami is of typical size to most girls her age, standing at 5’2” and weighing at 116 lbs. Her most distinguishing feature is her pair of blue eyes, which are often staring at a computer screen. Her teal hair reached just between her shoulder blades. Nami is often seen brushing her bangs away from her eyes, revealing a nice facial complexion.

Going to a fancy prep school, Nanami’s attire consists of a school uniform. Her top is a white long-sleeved blouse with pearl buttons. Though she tries to stay in the dress code and keep it tucked in, it’s often in a half-tuck when she’s in a rush. Over her blouse is a black cardigan, useful in cold classrooms. The zipper is rather odd, as it’s placed more to the left than the center. In warm weather, Nanami will roll up her long sleeves and take off the cardigan, tying the arms around her waist. Lastly, a red ribbon ties around her collar in a bow tie. Lower wear consists of a black mini skirt that covers her upper thighs, accenting her legs. Her lower legs are covered in long white socks that go up to her knees. Nami’s shoes are a comfortable pair of black sneakers.

Personality: Nanami can be described as a lover of life. She’s always into trying new things and making sure every day is different from the last. The girl seems to have a keen interest in how things work, partly the reason why she got into coding in the first place. Nami is quite the people person, always eager to throw a party and meet new friends.

Nanami is deeply interested in computers, specifically getting them to do what she wants. In her opinion, being a hacker is the closest she’ll ever get to becoming a wizard. In addition, she’s an avid gamer, preferring the multiplayer racing and fighting games. Also, whenever she has a problem to think about, Nanami goes for runs, preferably in indoor tracks if possible.

Background: Nanami and her twin brother Ren were born in an inland village close to the mountains. Their mother and father were the last family they had; most died of old age. The family lived in a fairly rural community, far from the bright city lights of Tokyo. However, they struggled to stay within the middle class; her father worked as a contractor, while her mother managed a grocery store. Somehow, someway, they were able to give their children a happy life.

Nanami got her first computer when she was twelve and hadn’t stepped away from the keyboard ever since. She was able to meet friends from all over the world (especially important in such an isolated village) and absorb all kinds of information. It wasn’t until after summer camp that she began learning her most important skill: coding. The girl was in love with creating programs out of a bunch of letters and numbers. She used these skills to start hacking into websites. It was her unique way of helping her family out. She got them into government support programs, complete with expedited processing. Random packages arrived for them, often items that their parents mentioned they needed. All these coincidences caught her brother Ren’s attention. Once he caught her trying to get more stuff, Nami knew she had to stop. But not before one last thing…

School was beginning to look expensive for the family, especially one that would give the twins the credentials to get better jobs and thus lives. Nanami was looking through schools to find a good but cheap education. She stumbled across a site for Hope’s Peak Academy, a fancy prep school that not only offered college level courses but a full scholarship to those who qualified. Unfortunately, the deadline had passed, but that didn’t stop Nami from hacking in and adding her name to those qualified. As she finished entering her information, a curious confirmation message popped up:

Don’t forget to add your brother, Nanami Hatori.

Things were about to get very strange…

Name: Ren Hatori
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Super High School Level: Nurse Medic

Appearance: Being a twin, Ren looks very much like his sister Nanami. He is a bit bigger though, standing at 5’6” and 121 pounds. His teal hair is cut short, yet still tends to be messy. Ren also shares the same sapphire blue eyes, useful for getting attention from girls.

Thinking that the school required a uniform, Ren was forced to wear a matching outfit to his sister’s. He wears a white buttoned shirt, though this remains untucked most of the time. Over his shirt is a black sports jacket, which he doesn’t mind wearing out all the time. He feels it makes him look cool. Rounding out his outfit is a pair of black slacks that reach his ankles and black leather shoes.

Personality: Of the siblings, Ren is the more cautious of the two. He’s not paranoid, but he doesn’t exactly prescribe to the Nanami’s lifestyle. He prefers a regular schedule with very little deviation. Needless to say, he hates change. This clashes with his sister’s lifestyle, especially when he has to drop everything to watch out for her.

Ren has a weakness for the ladies. He often gives them preferential treatment, picking up bags or even treating minor cuts and scrapes. That being said, he is still a gentleman.

Background: For his entire life living in a mountain village, Ren has watched out for his twin sister. Nanami was always poking around where she shouldn’t, playing with stuff that was best left alone, and talking with strange folks she was better off ignoring. He always had to be the voice of reason in these encounters. This became especially true when he discovered his sister hacking all sorts of websites. Clearly, things didn’t change much from their childhood.

Backtracking a bit, Ren discovered his love for medicine when he was 13. At summer camp, there was a girl who went into anaphylactic shock. Most of the kids panicked, while the counselors rushed for a first aid kit. Ren however discovered an epi pen in the girl’s purse. A simple read of the instructions was all he needed to stab the needle into the girl’s leg. Soon enough, the girl recovered, rewarding Ren with a kiss on the cheek. So this was the reward for treating someone? Though his motivations may have been misleading, they were enough to get Ren into learning everything he could about first aid. That eventually led into him sitting in the back of classes in medical school to learn even more.

However, actually getting into medical school was a far off goal, especially given his family’s financial state. That’s when he received an acceptance letter to Hope’s Peak Academy. This was quite surprising, considering he didn’t recall applying to such a school. He immediately suspected Nanami’s hacking skills, but decided not to investigate further. She was trying to do good by him and he really needed to have a good school on his record in order to advance into his career of choice.

Besides, if Ren didn’t like it, he could just leave, right?

I'd like to reserve Musician please. I can be more specific once I've developed them if musician is too vague.

Posted by: Arceus Awakened Jun 14 2013, 02:41 AM

I do hope I'm doing this right. X3 Haven't done a signup like this in a while. Mafia veteran, though.
Might add another character later.
(This is unfinished - I'm updating regularly in case Kyurem restarts on me.)

Name: Chikyu Hokuro (Japanese for Earth Mole, if anyone's interested)
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Super High School Level: Gardener

Appearance: Chikyu has short, dark brown hair, with a green streak down the left side. It somehow stays neat despite all her physical activity. She has small, hazel eyes which she rarely blinks, and often has a smear of mud across her face. Due to her gardening work, she is very strong and muscly...except for her right arm, which is a bionic replacement made for her by an old friend. She uses this arm for writing etc., as she was once right-handed.

She wears short, earth-coloured t-shirts, which have one long sleeve protecting her bionic arm, and long, loose-fitting trousers. Her shoes are casual trainers, suited to outdoor work. She always wears a white headband which has black, sown-in writing on it in some obscure language (actually English), which translates to 'Work for the future, not to change the past.', and it somehow always avoids getting dirty. It is rare that she is seen without her shovel.

I have a picture, but can't upload it yet.

Personality: Chikyu is rather distrustful, preferring to work alone than in groups. Thanks to her bionic arm, she is a competent multitasker, being able to, for example, write with one hand and dig a hole with the other; she often uses this to her advantage. She is, however, not the sanest highschooler ever, often talking to her bionic arm as if it were sentient. (She calls it Rusu.)

If she must talk to someone, she prefers that few questions about her personal life are asked, and will wordlessly desert anyone who pries into her history in the vast majority of cases. In terms of the personalities of others, she is far more likely to tolerate those who are serious like her...unfortunately, in most cases, said people assume that her talking to Rusu makes her not a good person to be around. This leads to her distrust growing, as well as how much she converses with her arm.

Background: Born to an illegal immigrant and an escaped convict, Chikyu was taught from an early age to distrust others. She was homeschooled, and taught a little English as well as the native Japanese, and it seemed like her life would go on like this, in hiding until she could make her mark on the world. At first, she was a cheerful child, happy despite her bad circumstances. But on her tenth birthday, everything changed...

It seemed that word of their hideout had reached a wealthy, yet unpopular, lord, and - believing Chikyu's father to be the robber who stole from him long ago, but not knowing of Chikyu herself - he decided to strike back, offering a reward to the person who brought back proof of either of the parents' demise. Many people took up the challenge, until on that fateful day... A ninja-in-training found them, and slew Chikyu's father before anyone could blink, before going after Chikyu believing her to be her mother. He aimed, and would have killed Chikyu had her mother not cried out, thus causing him to merely slice Chikyu's right arm as opposed to her whole body.

Her mother took up a makeshift weapon, and began to duel the ninja, hoping to buy time for Chikyu's escape. However, it was not to be - for the ninja was more proficient with a katana than anyone with a makeshift weapon could ever be, and after exchanging a few blows, Chikyu's mother was slain with a stab to the heart. Out of fury and fear, Chikyu took up the closest thing to a weapon - a sharp-edged shovel - and attacked the ninja from behind. The first hit crippled him, as she got a lucky blow to the head, before she felled him with multiple slashes to the vital areas.

Knowing that her time would be short if she stayed, she quickly buried her parents underneath an apple tree, packed up what food and possessions she had, and left for the streets. These were the last sane thoughts she had for a while, as she soon collapsed near a house. She only came to her senses a year later, after her bionic arm had been fitted on by a family who, she later learned, had taken her in thinking she was the victim of domestic abuse. They had learned the full story, but merely assumed it was insane ramblings from a traumatised child.

And so, she began to attend school like any normal child. While initially she garnered much interest, slowly her slight insanity began to drive people away, and to fill the emptiness, she took up gardening. She felt almost her old self again, digging in the school gardens, planting trees, flowers, whatever she felt like. This continued for a few years, until not long after her sixteenth birthday. As time went on, she had been talking to Rusu more and more, and finally her host family were forced to realise something was wrong with her. Without her knowledge, they planned to move away, scared that if she knew, she would take vengeance. Finally they were prepared, and planned to leave before Chikyu got home from school...that day, she was sent home early, however, and caught them leaving. Enraged and confused, she struck out with her shovel, causing memory loss. Her lack of trust in others reaffirmed, soon afterwards, she got her invitation to Hope's Peak...

Other: If a bionic arm isn't allowed, I'll change it to prosthetic.

Unrelated: Monobear reminds me of Dimentio. He's probably just as sane.

If anyone else is interested in learning more about this game, there is an anime adaptation set to release next month directed by Seiji Kishi, the same man who directed the Persona 4 anime.

Indeed there is! I forgot to put something about it in the OP. Maybe I should do that. Here's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmobY-jCjy4 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxoYuP-99lw (although that one contains possible minor spoilers? possibly?? but probably not) if you're interested.

Haha, I'm still working on Chikyu's background - I have the basics, now just to embellish. That's alright my updating in bits, right?

Also I apologise in advance if I mess anything up, I haven't RP'd on a forum for a while. Like I'll probably accidentally put OOC stuff in brackets instead of the thread, because that's what I've always done. X3

Posted by: Touko Fukawa Jun 14 2013, 07:23 PM

Updating in bits is fine! ^^ You can still put OOC stuff in brackets in your RP posts, but if you need to make a whole separate post for it, it goes in this thread. Does that make sense?

Posted by: Arceus Awakened Jun 15 2013, 03:42 AM

Yes, it does, thank you (:

Edit: Yay, I finished. ^_^.gif Might create another character, might not.

Posted by: Touko Fukawa Jun 15 2013, 10:18 AM

@Arceus: Chikyu's accepted! She seems like an interesting character. I'll add her to the first post shortly.
@Toogee: Is Nanami's profile done? If so, she's accepted.

I should probably get to work on my character... oh, I don't think I mentioned this, but my character(s?) won't have a "role", nor a vote that counts during the trials. Since I'm the GM, that would be a bit unfair, wouldn't it? She(/they?) will just sort of be there, I suppose.

Hi diddly ho, guys. Thanks for the reserve, Touko. I've just started forms but I've got a question or two:
-If I made a Baker, could they have access to school kitchens and the like? I'm not sure if that was made clear in the first post, but if it was and I missed it, sorry.

-Could I reserve the Super High School Level Good Luck character? I'd like to take a crack.

If I can't do the baker, that's fine. I've got like five other ideas lined up. Jeez, now I feel like doing a Dangan Ropa fanfic...

Posted by: Arceus Awakened Jun 15 2013, 07:24 PM

Alright, I decided on a role for another character, and will be working on him in this post. Again, updating in bits.

Name: Tanoshi Rakkan (Japanese for Joyous Optimism)
Gender: Male
Age: 20 (due to late joining)
Super High School Level: Optimist

Appearance: Tanoshi always has a beaming smile upon his face. He has blue, sparkling eyes and long, golden hair - he is often mistaken for a girl because of this. He is also short-sighted and thus wears glasses, which are oval-shaped with thin, black frames. His cheeks are freckled and often rosy, and he has a sun-shaped birthmark on his forehead, which has five rays - two of them horizontally around his head, two diagonally across his eyes and stopping in the center of his cheeks, and one directly down his nose, stopping at the tip.

His clothing choices are often erratic, as he cares not what others think, and instead dresses in his own style. Typically, this incorporates a multitude of colourations, but the one thing that is always included is a rainbow-shaded bow tie. The clothing patterns range from stripes, to spots, to flowers, to even characters from assorted amusements.

Personality: As noted, he is an optimist. This makes him constantly try to cheer up anyone who seems unhappy, using any method he can - (normally failing at) juggling, telling corny jokes, anything else he can think of. He is also known within his old school as a matchmaker, often pairing up compatible students, though this doesn't always work as expected.

In the darkest of times, his peers look to him as a beacon of hope, but if times aren't so bad his optimism can be an annoyance. Despite this, he tries his best constantly, looking to make a happier world - and one in which all people can be equal. This dream of equality is his main goal in life. He is, however, rather naive, thinking the best of everyone.

Background: Tanoshi was the oldest of five siblings working at his parents' circus tent. Times were hard on all of them, and they were unable to afford food sometimes, let alone schooling, but he always smiled, trying his best to help out. As such, first he went handing out fliers, and then trained to become a professional entertainer. After all, the circus could always use more members.

And so, he learnt to entertain and to perform - though he wasn't the most successful, his slip-ups made the circus all the funnier. While most would have recoiled under the mocking laughs of the audience there, he carried on with a smile, eventually earning the circus enough money that they could send the youngest child, Kotori, to school. Often, he went in to collect her at the end of the day, though unknowingly making her the target of bullies...

One day, he arrived five minutes late, to find Kotori being attacked by a group of older girls, taunting her over her joker of a brother. This shook him, and he rushed in to her defense, eventually fending them off, though taking an injury to his left hand in the process and confining him to his bed for a week. His time of recovery was the closest he came to breaking his optimism; after all, what world could pick on an innocent child for the simple reason of having a brother in the circus?

Eventually - and fortunately for both him and the circus business - his attitude regained its optimistic streak, with the simple addition of equality for all. He continued to work in the circus, which by then had gained a more sympathetic audience, until the age of 15, in which he was sent to school, in high-speed learning. This caused him to catch up rather quickly, causing him to be in the last year of high school at the age of 20 - not bad for joining at 15. His optimism and passion for learning got him an invitation to Hope's Peak...

Other: I have no idea how his optimism will work at School Trials, I'll see what happens. Probably the closest thing he gets to sadness, similar to Kotori's attack. Or maybe it'll break entirely...

It's not absolutely necessary - they can have a different name if they're a foreigner or using a pseudonym, but of course that would have to be detailed in their Background. If anyone needs help with names, http://www.behindthename.com/.

Ah, if it isn't too much trouble, reserve Super High School Level Chemist for me? I have a complete character idea in mind for it, but I'm having a little trouble getting it all organized. It's been a while since I've tried to RP, after all.

Also, as for the SHSL Brony idea... we're in a Japanese setting, remember, so it might not work so well to create a character based off of a primarily American subculture. The original game is also rather... critical of subcultures like that...

The idea of a SHSL Optimist is a little troublesome, too, since

endgame spoilers? kind of? (click to show)

Anyway, if anyone's having trouble thinking of Japanese names, http://tangorin.com/names/ has a very nice searchable database of them. That's where I usually go.

Aww, but I'm working on his backstory. ): Admittedly it's not as detailed as Chikyu's, but still...

Posted by: Yzal Jun 16 2013, 05:16 PM

Ah, it's alright. That just struck me as a potential problem spot; ultimately it's up to Touko whether or not it's acceptable.

Still working (albeit slowly) on a profile over here. I'll post it up once I get at least a sizable chunk done.

Posted by: Touko Fukawa Jun 16 2013, 06:49 PM

I'll go ahead and reserve you that character, Yzal. As for the SHSL Optimist thing - I felt the same way at first, but then I realized that the RP could indeed play out much differently than the game. Especially since http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=67049&view=findpost&p=2340811. So I'm okay with that title.
As for a SHSL Brony, I'm not sure how that's going to work for a lot of reasons, but I'll see what DN does with him if he decides to make him, I suppose.
(Also wow yes that's a great reference, thank you!!)

Posted by: Arceus Awakened Jun 17 2013, 06:02 PM

I finished him - secondary characteristic is a passion for learning (as he learnt stuff reaaaaaally quickly), so that could be more of a reason than optimism. Just he believes it was both.

Here's my Second Guy

Name: Shiro Kobayashi

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Super High School Level: Card Shark

Appearance: Shiro is somewhat short for his age, standing at only 5' 10'', and only weighs 155 lbs. He has a small wiry build, and his face is thin with a pointed chin and pale skin. However his sapphire blue eyes show a large amount of confidence and power behind the seemingly frail exterior. He has mid length silver hair which falls messily over his face, and is clean-shaven.

Shiro wears a black high-collar jacket over a White T-shirt with a Joker card design on the front, along with black jeans and red converse. He also wears a pair of red and white wristbands on each arm.

Personality: Shiro is a brash and somewhat cocky individual, who always likes to think one step ahead of the game. He has an exceptional poker face, and through years of training has managed to place all of his emotions below a cool surface, making him an exceptional liar. He's also become very good at reading people through his experience playing poker, meaning he can also tell when people are bluffing with ease.

However, Shiro likes to spend most of his time alone. He isn't arrogant like many think him to be, he just knows how to play the game, and is wary of making allies in case of eventual betrayal. He can be a friendly and supportive individual when he wants to be, but his professional person can often get in the way of making any real connections. He also has a tendency to over think things, making him very paranoid about what may happen next in the competition.

Background: Shiro grew up as the youngest of four brothers in a largely successful family. His brothers each excelled at their school in different ways. The eldest brotherwas great athlete who excelled in sports. The second brother was gifted in science and mathematics. and the third brother was a patron of the arts who was an exceptional singer and actor. Born into this family put a large amount of pressure onto Shiro's shoulders. However he was contetn to be average in school. However this drew on huge derision from his father and brothers, who considered themselves better than Shiro.

Shiro's father and brothers would often have friendly poker tournaments for money. Shiro's mother would'nt allow him because he was too young at the time. However late into the night, Shiro would sneak out of his room and simply watch his family play. By doing this, he learned how to read their tells, analyse their playstyles, anticipate their moves. He did this until he was 16, when his mother finally let him play. His father said that they would go easy on him at the time. He was soon regretting those words as Shiro busted him and all his brothers in less than an hour and went to bed with a hefty sum of money.

After that, Shiro went to many poker tournaments whenever he could, including a trip to a tournament in Las Vegas after he graduated. However, his family would still look down on him as having an inferior skill that would get him nowhere in life. It was then that Shiro got the Invitation to Hope's Peak. He wasted no time in accepting, and enjoyed the looks on his brother's faces as he told them that he ad been accepted into a place that they had all hoped to be invited to when they were younger.

Other: Shiro always carries a dog-eared deck of cards on his person, and can often be found shuffling them and messing around with them. Shiro is well versed in all types of cardgame, including Black Jack, Rummy, Hearts and the many forms of Poker.

Decided not to go with Brony, I've had this character in my mind for a while now.

Posted by: Wishful Jirachi Jun 18 2013, 04:29 AM

I love all the charries we're getting. Can't wait for this to start.

In regards to my character, her appearance and personality are complete if I don't go back so just history left which will most likely either get done today or tomorrow.

Aw, I'm sorry about that, Arceus. Hope your laptop gets fixed soon.
edit: I keep forgetting to say this, but I'm also going to remove the rule about providing an RP sample before reserving. I should be able to tell whether they'd be good at RPing from their SU.

Name: Ruri Ushiko
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Super High School Level: Musician

http://rini-tan.deviantart.com/art/Spade-Ace-372717186 Standing at 5'7" with a frame that is thin and elongated in nature, almost lanky, http://rini-tan.deviantart.com/art/Rin-Reference-371838393is both youthful and attractive. Her childlike appearance adds a sense of innocence to her darker colored attire, which in turn causes her pale skin and blonde hair to appear to be brighter than they actually are in reality. Although she may look more like a child than the age which she is, this is not to say that she is childish but rather cute or at least this would be the most appropriate description for her attire and appearance being that her innocent nature and shy demeanor portray such a thing.

Her hair, which is bright blonde in color, is often slightly unkept as if she had been sleeping only a few moments before and had neglected to properly brush her hair upon waking up. It is rather long in length, reaching to the base of her back, however; she has never cut it in her life and so has a reasoning for such a length. Truthfully she is rather protective of it and will not allow anyone to ever cut it. In terms of nature, it is light in weight being that it is easily moved about by the wind. Much like the overall condition of her hair, the ends are uneven and form in pointed clumps rather than one singular mass. This uneven and honesty unkept look is to her liking and so she does not bother to trim the ends. Her bangs, which divide into three sections, separate and frame her face. The side bangs are longer in length and fan to the sides of her head, reaching to midway down her chest. The remainder of the bangs that do not sweep to either side of her face, collect in one singular clump between her eyes, sweeping towards the right side of her face.

Amber in color, her eyes contrast the dark hues of her attire while matching the warmer tones established through her hair color. They are primarily soft in tone with darker flecks around the pupil, however; they often can be found wondering about her surroundings than focused on one secular location. This is due to her shyness and desire to observe those around her that causes her attention to be diverted easily. This often portrays concern through her eyes, however; when focused upon a singular subject portrays interest if not confusion. Caring at heart, they are warm and only ever portray kindness, but it is her fears which override this, portraying a distant and sometimes fearful gaze.

In terms of attire, the only colors present are those of a darker nature, deep red, black, and grey. They are of the more formal nature, highly resembling a showman's attire, which wouldn't be far off due to her talent of being a violinist. To others this may seem as overkill to always dress so formal, however; to her it is simply playing the role which she was given and to be honest she is more comfortable dressed in such an attire versus say a more brightly colored dress, which she would never be caught wearing at the time being in her life.

Her upper attire consists of two layers, a medium grey undershirt and black vest. The undershirt has a large collar that fans out about her neck, reaching to her chin and left open. The shoulders are angular while the sleeves are loose in comparison to the vest. The cuffs of the sleeves are roughly three inches in length and are fashioned with two golden buttons. These cuffs extend over the base of her palm and are loose fitted enough to still provide easy maneuverability. The front of the shirt is held with a series of black buttons while the bottom of the shirt cuts much like that of her vest, in triangular portions rather than one straight cut. Wrapped around each arm of the shirt are three belts with one below the elbow and two above. Each belt is black with silver buckles and causes the sleeves to bunch up beneath and above them.

The vest is dark grey or black in color and is sleeveless. The collar in contrast to that of the shirt lays flat against the sides of the vest ad is open on top due to the undershirt beneath covering her chest. Forming two triangles on each side, the collar is trimmed with a thin strip of grey that is similar in color to that of the shirt. This V cut extends to a few inches above her stomach, exposing a great deal of the undershirt. The cut of the vest is sharp, cutting closely to her neck and fitting tightly around her torso. The bottom however, is slightly more loose as to provide maneuverability and so bunches around the hips. The front is buttoned with four larger golden buttons which serve to connect one side of the vest to the other. Reaching from inside the vest's V is a chain which connects to top button on the right side and then loops to the top button of the left side. Attached to the other end o this chain is a silver pocket watch which rests within an inside pocket on the right side of her vest.

Her lower attire is less detailed in nature an consists primarily of a pair of shorts and stockings in addition to her shoes. These shorts are shorter in nature, cutting a third of the way down her thighs, and are a mixture of the dark grey and light grey of her upper attire. These shorts are loose enough for maneuverability but also are form fitting enough to show her figure, although her back portion is covered by the longer length of her undershirt. The shorts primary color is that of the dark grey with thin vertical strips of the lighter grey every one inch apart. On the outer edges of the shorts are two golden buttons on each side which are both for decoration and clipping the sides of the shorts which when unbuttoned create small upside down V shapes.

The stockings are dark grey in color, although brighter than that of her shorts. They are naturally form fitting in nature and cover from her toes to two thirds up her thigh, leaving a small portion, roughly one third of her thigh, exposed. Over these she wears a pair of small heeled grey and black shoes. They are small in nature and comfortable in wear. The bottom and heel, which is roughly an inch and a half in height, are black along with the toe portion of the top of the shoe. Wrapped around the shoe from the top of the shoes curve and top of the heel, is a black belt with silver buckles much like that of those wrapped around her arms. The tops of the shoes are cut with small V's on the side and are short, going only a few inches above her ankles.

In addition to this attire are a few small accessories consisting primarily of a hair pin, two hair beads, and a loose fitted ribbon. The hair pin is black in color and shaped much like that of a cross. It adorns the left side of her head, fastened to no particular section of hair and simply is there for decoration rather than function. The two hair beads are deep red in color and are attached to the portions of bangs which lay in front of her ears. They are attached near to the bottom, roughly collar bone height, and are round in shape, causing the hair to bunch above it and to tapper into a thin strip beneath it. The ribbon is also deep red in color and ties around her neck, on the outside of the undershirts collar. It ties low on her chest in the form of a bow with the two tails extending to below her chest.

Personality: Ruri is both a kind and shy girl. Her exterior is youthful and childlike but also silent. Choosing to listen rather than to speak, getting her to participate in a conversation can be somewhat difficult. This is partially to do with the fact that she doesn't know what to say but also the fact that she feels that if she were to say something, she might instead come across as unintelligent or not someone worth being around. Regardless of what holds her back, she will at times jump into a conversation at her own will but she more than likely will have be forced to do so. This is not to say that she is rude and won't reply to someone when spoken to. No, if addressed she will respond the best that she can, however; she'd much rather prefer not being addressed at all.

This means that socially speaking, she is lacking. Preferring to keep to herself, she will sit in the back of gatherings, not liking the feeling of being surrounded by those she does not know. Therefore, she is rarely noticed or spoken to, which she has grown to like. Her downfall, she does not wish to be completely alone. She does like someone to be there whom she can speak to but she finds it hard, especially to start from scratch. Filled with that fear that she won't be liked, she feels compelled to not even try but this she knows to be a bad thing and so by accepting her invitation, she hopes to improve her social skills and perhaps make a friend she would keep after leaving.

Wrestling with this desire to both be wanted and unnoticed, she often walks among the crowd on her own. She watches those around her, wanting to be a part but too afraid to actually join. Due to this, she often scans the area around her along with the people within it. They are both interesting and concerning at the same time, both possible friends and annoyances. Truth be told, despite her less involved nature and fears she truly is a nice person. She can smile and laugh and have fun. It isn't that she can't but that she isn't comfortable around those around her. With time she will improve and she has done so over the last few years. It was hard but all things in life are.

When one gets to know Ruri she is a loyal friend. She will do whatever is needed to maintain the friendship and will often go out of her way to make her friends happy, regardless of the cost to her. This is both good and bad. It does mean she is a possible target of abuse or being used in other words but she does not like to think of such things. Preferring to believe that her friends, those she cares about, care for her genuinely and equally to her, she will fight to keep them as best as she can. To lose them is a fear and a great pain all in one. Therefore, she does not deal with loss well. She will become emotional, however; she will try to hide it as most humans would. More often than not she fails and it is during such times that she doesn't care who is there, anyone is important.

Regardless of what she feels, one of the most important things to her is her violin, which when played allows her to be whatever she wants. She wishes to one day play on streets around the world and it wouldn't matter who listened. She would be happy as long as she added some joy to them through her talent. While she is a little shy about starting to play in front of a crowd, once she begins she will not stop till she has finished, regardless of the events around her. The violin would have to be taken from her or some danger to herself or the immediate surroundings to cause her to stop. This being said, it is her most prized possession and if harm ever came to it, she wouldn't care who it was, she would become instantly enraged towards them. She'd catch herself if it was a friend or someone who really didn't deserve such treatment, as a child, but it would take her a moment longer to return to silence if it were a stranger around her age. Regardless of her reaction, it would be a big blow to her and so she'd be hurt deeply.

Fearful of many things, her life is often hindered by such fears although she manages well with such fears to an extent and has slowly been trying to convince herself that such fears are not needed or worth her time. In this manner, she has gotten over a great deal of her smaller, random little fears, however; one fear above any other grips her and that is the fear of fire. She finds it intriguing but also frightening and this would be due events that took place in her childhood years. Thankfully, this event was the only 'traumatic' or truly bad memory she has of her childhood, the rest being for the most part pleasant and normal in simple regards. Therefore, she is conflicted about this fear as well, both interested from a distance but fearful when physically close.

Despite her age, she does act somewhat childish. When comfortable in the current location and with the people around her her attention flits from different subjects, studying each briefly and focusing on those which intrigue her the most. She is a very lively person when it comes to those that she knows, being happy, cheery, and smiling from dawn to dusk, despite any inconveniences. Very much interested in the talents of others, she will cling to those that catch her interest, amazed at their skills. She may question a lot or even follow as if a small animal but she means no harm. She is simply innocently seeking answers to those questions which interest her. In fact, her attention should be seen more as a compliment than a bother being that it only means that either she finds the subject interesting or she cares a great deal about them. Regardless of her reasoning, when comfortable she is open and carefree. She is a young soul living life to the best of her abilities.

Overall, she is a girl who sticks to herself but also wishes to be involved with the social aspect of life. Wishing to be wanted by others, she craves their friendship, but she finds that she lets her mind control her actions. In all truth she is kind, honest, and loyal. She is a friend worth having if one takes the time to realize who she is. And while she may let her fears restrain her, she is only human and still wishes to be treated as one. With time, she will open up to those around her and drop the shy persona that she has taken up. At times it returns but that's only because one cannot completely erase a part of oneself, only suppress and manage it. Finding interest in others, she is an observer who pays attention to the details around her, although not well enough to remember them all for long after observing them. She does however have a natural interest in sounds due to her talent being that of playing the violin. Each note must be played properly and at the correct time after all, therefore, such smaller details present in every event of everyday life are details which she notices easily.

Background: Ruri was born the only child of a young and average in wealth family. Her mother was twenty-one, her father twenty-three. She hadn't been planned but when she came, she was loved none the less. Therefore, when she was born her father instead stopped working days while her mother worked them instead. Both had had jobs but her father had a more flexible time schedule and so he was the one who mainly raised their daughter. Regardless of who was there, she was loved and cared for in the best way possible.

Their home was a small thing tucked away from the main road and surrounded by various forms of plant life. It was in all honesty, pleasant and secluded from the bustling nature of everyday life. It was the natural and ideal location to raise a young daughter and so when the new parents came across the property for sale, they quickly placed an offer and within two weeks had moved in. It was traditional but also modern and provided not only ample space for Ruri to grow but a wide variety of interests for her.

Her very first steps had been taken in the garden, her first memory the koi swimming in the lily pond. It was a warm place and had a friendly atmosphere. She spent most of her younger years toddling after her father. He spent the morning and afternoon with Ruri while her mother was at work, switching out after dinner. The pair became close and so when it was time for her to begin classes, the separation was not easy. She wouldn't see him as much anymore since she would be gone most of the day. It was a slow transition, as it is for many children, but in time she came to be accustomed with the routine, even enjoying it.

She made a few friends within those first years, all of which were female, but she had discovered something far greater than friendships, music. It was on her seventh birthday that her parents bought her a violin and from that day forward she would practice till her fingers were blistered and the notes properly played. She was a stubborn child but she had potential. Her mother saw talent in her from the moment she first picked it up but that might have simply been a mother's happiness or love. Regardless, she was right and it wouldn't be long before she'd be noticed for said talent.

By nine her instruction was privately done, staying after school each day so that she could take lessons from the music instructor. It was tough of course but she loved every note that came out of the instrument and so she practiced, awed by the pieces her instructor could produce. Many nights she didn't sleep, wanting to be perfect. Her parents put a stop to it however, when it started to effect her academic scores being she often fell asleep in class the next day but she still played whenever she could. Many times there were tears out of both frustration and sadness. Frustration that she couldn't play the piece and sadness when a string would break. To the average child they might have been trivial matters but to a musician, even one as young as this, it was important.

At the age of ten her instructor got her a small part, an introductory to a pianist, to perform a piece she'd been working on for months. Ruri was naturally overjoyed, as were her parents, but she was also frightened. What if she messed up? On the day of the performance she was so nervous she played the wrong opening and only upon realizing she had done so , panicked. Remembering something her instructor had taught her, she finished the piece although it was still the wrong one. Her performance was met with smiles and applauds but on some level she felt as if she had failed. It was not until her instructor consulted her that she realized she had not but rather could have only succeeded.

Taking her instructor's advice, she began to practice in town, first in more secluded areas and then in the more populated. Her instructor thought it might help her to manage her 'stage fright' by performing in front of small crowds. It took some strong moral resolve and determination but she managed and by twelve she nearly all but gotten over such fright. The downside to such rigorous work, little social life. On some level this was bad for her being it would lead to her moderate shyness but it also allowed her to become the skilled musician that she is now.

The next few years she performed many times and even received some awards for them. She pulled back on practicing so much when it came to her entrance exams. It was after being accepted into a small, all girls school, that she focused more greatly on social interactions. It was hard being she'd often practice instead of spending time with friends but as the years passed, things became better. She'd become well known by some for her talent on a small scale and had been able to make some friends at her school. Learning to balance social life and her practicing, she was happy.

It was when a strange invitation found its way to her that she took a moment to rethink her current situation. She hadn't applied to this mysterious school nor had she even heard of it before so when she received the invitation her natural reaction was surprise. After all, she knew that she was a little well known but not for such a school as this. She was interested but also hesitant. If she decided to attend she would have leave behind the friends she had made but if she attended she would have a better chance of making it somewhere with her music, or at least that's what she heard about the school after some research. In the end, she decided to accept the invitation.

Other: Ruri did bring her violin in a black case to the school. In addition, the event which took place which caused her to become fearful of fire in close proximity, took place at the age of fourteen and was a completely accidental event. Quite frankly she doesn't remember how she managed to fall into the fire or how the fire even got started. The only reminder of the event is a burn scar on her left lower leg. It's healed for the most part but is still visible. However, due to her wearing stockings one would not easily be able to deduce such a marking without her telling them or the removal of her stockings, which she would most likely not do willingly. There is little effect other than the remaining scar except for a very moderate limp which would only be noticed by an observing eye as it is the only other effect of the the event being that she is not in any form of pain.

Edit: I do hope that using a reference for her appearance that I didn't personally make is alright. I did make sure to provide the actual page on DA that the picture is posted so you have the account/creator as well. I also noticed to that I completely forgot to explain the event which happened to make her fearful of fire. -_-.gif So I'll just put a little note in the Other section and have it be more of a detail she shares than one given sort of thing.

Most definitely me - I had an idea for a variation of my half-demon OC which I think would be interesting here!
(She wouldn't actually be half-demon in this universe, just she would believe so and have surgically attached horns etc X3)

Posted by: Dorito Ninja Jun 23 2013, 05:53 PM

Yeah sure, then I can add my Brony character after all!

Also, great to see a translation patch out, now I just have to wait till someone puts gameplay on Youtube with it. Or watch the anime, whichever comes first.

Posted by: Toogee Jun 23 2013, 06:42 PM

I don't know about a third one. I have no ideas for one and probably don't have the time for one either.

Posted by: Arceus Awakened Jun 24 2013, 05:22 PM

Alright, I'm working on this now in preparation just in case. XD Had some really neat ideas, so...didn't want to lose them!

Name: Cyrus Demonspawn (birth name Megura Seishin)
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Super High School Level: Artist

Appearance: Cyrus has short, spiky black hair, with two deathly white, hornlike protrusions made of what appears to be bone. Her eyes are a deep red, whilst her skin is incredibly pale, making her look possessed. Her hands have an extra finger, and her nails are grown long so as to appear as claws.

Protruding from her back are blackened, limb-like stumps, with two more hornlike protrusions at the tips, and an attached blood-red membrane of some sort to make them appear winglike. Also on her back, is another malformed 'limb', appearing like a demonic tail. She is normally garbed in a long, black cloak, with holes for her assorted protrusions, but wears black, tight-fitting clothing underneath, to hide her many scars and bruises.

Personality: Cyrus, despite her...unusual appearance, is a surprisingly nice person - towards people her age, at any rate, as she distrusts adults despite technically being one herself. She is an amazing artist, though her talent lies mostly in demonic and eldritch artworks - stereotypically cute things she finds repulsive, but the supernatural is her fascination.

She is a photophobe - one afraid of light - and as such will rarely venture outside during daylight hours. If she does, the hood of her cloak will be pulled down across her face, throwing shadow across it and making her appear like a demonic spirit. Also, she has a dislike of religion, but will tolerate it as long as it is not that of a particular village - her birthplace.

Sometimes, she hears a voice - though this is different from most voice delusions as others can hear too. The voice is female, and identifies as Daeth, a 'guardian demon', who is often helping her with her artworks or suggesting ideas to her on other matters.

Background: Cyrus was born Megura Seishin - derived from Blessed Soul - in a small village part of an obscure religious sect. She was originally a twin, but due to complications, her twin was reabsorbed into her, causing her to be born with odd defects - six fingers per hand, the remains of the arms as stumps on her back, and the remains of a leg lower down. The latter remnant made her originally appear to be a malformed male, before it was realised that she was a biological chimera.

Her parents were displeased, as any sort of birth defect was seen as a mark of the devil, however they named her in such a way so as to beg their deity to save her soul. Unfortunately for them, when Megura's eyes opened a few days later, they were a deep red - another mark - and so they asked the priestess for advice. She was not sure what to do, but decided that they must raise her to adulthood as they must any other child, and pray that her eyes would turn golden, a sign of blessing.

And so, Megura grew up as a curious and inquisitive child, learning to move her extra limbs as with any other. At the age of five, she attended a school in a nearby town, where she was met with acceptance by the majority of other students, but wariness from the teachers. Things went smoothly for a few years, until a particularly unpleasant teacher, angry at Megura's popularity over that of her own daughter, lied to her parents that she had been caught attacking other students.

They visited the priestess, who studied the holy texts for many days, before deciding that there was one course of action - they were to beat it out of her. From then on, whenever Megura returned home for the weekend, there were painful and abusive actions taken against her, in the hope that it would somehow 'cleanse' her. She hid the injuries from her classmates, fearing further action against her...fortunately, the teacher who lied was fired after Megura's classmates protested, but the damage was done.

One summer night, Megura was wandering a forest near her home, bleeding majorly from two spots on her head and from the ends of her limb-stumps. That night, things changed for her, as a voice laid dormant spoke to her for the first time. The voice introduced herself as Daeth, a guardian demon, and promised aid.

First, under Daeth's instruction, the pained, weak-willed Megura stole cloth from a nearby farm to staunch her limb wounds, inadvertently fusing the cloth to the blackened flesh and staining it blood-red. Next, she carved four hornlike structures out of what Megura later found out to be bone, and attached them to the four major wounds. Finally, she shed her old name, her cocoon, and became Cyrus Demonspawn - before falling to the ground, fainted.

A few days later, she awoke at a strange location, aching with pain...hearing familiar voices, she tried to get up to investigate, but was having trouble. The voices got closer, and as she recognised them as those of her parents, she quickly pretended to still be in her coma just as they arrived in the room - luckily, they passed through without incident.

Other: The odd appearance traits will be explained - as I said, she's based on a half-demon OC, but in this case she isn't. As for the religion, it isn't based on any in particular at all - hence obscure, so no one will know anything about it! grin.gif
Daeth, despite her claims, is actually another part of what's left of the other twin. No one knew she was supposed to be a twin, not even the mother, so...
I can provide Wikipedia links to the twin conditions if need be.

Name: Iwao Kyo
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Super High School Level: Thief

Appearance: Standing at 6'3" with an average build, http://myehiari.deviantart.com/art/Black-Suit-set-Yata-Misaki-335518144 intimidation is conveyed through body language and personality rather than physical appearance. This is not to say that as a whole he is not intimidating, but only that his average strength does not quickly tip one of this. In all truthfulness it is a combination of his punk like attitude and often unimpressed facial expressions coupled with his temper which portrays intimidation. With the natural inclination to simply scoff at remarks rather than to reply, he isn't much of a conversationalist, and so when he does manage to speak if they are not words of anger then they are usually some mundane comment that in all makes him a pretty poor friend and person to be around.

His hair is deep red in color and never properly combed. The closest it ever gets to being properly cared for other than showing is a simple run through with his fingers, which in his case does little. However, the mess that is his hair is often hidden by a black hat, leaving what little protrudes to be the only hair seen. Naturally, while this hides the majority of his hair, when the hat is taken off his hair instantly poofs back to its messy state in probably a worse condition than it had been prior to having worn the hat. Although there are very few instances that he will be found without his hat, being limited to showering and sleeping. The portions which extend beyond the edges of his hat are located to the sides and back of his head, leaving his forehead bare. These bits of hair nearly cover the entirety of his ears and fan or wisp in odd directions.

Much like his unkept hair might suggest, his attire is lose and extremely casual. HIs lack of desire to impress mimics that look of un-impressment or simply annoyance which often adorns his facial features. Other than a few ticks, Iwao's facial features are the best way in which one can deduce his current attitude, particularly in the brow and intensity of his green eyes. This observation can lead one to easily understand when he is simply ignoring those around him and when they are in turn annoying him, and so pushing his temper. If it weren't for such an attitude he might be attractive or at least likable but it is the fact that he is cold that he is easily disliked.

His upper attire consists of two layers, both of which of jackets. The under jacket is a thin fabric hoodie which is primarily white in color. The trim of the hood and the hood's strings are bright blue while the sleeves of the jacket are rolled and reach to just below the elbows. The other jacket, which lays over the white one but with the hood pulled out, is primarily black in color and is slightly more formal in comparison to the other. This jacket has no hood and is left open. The collar is shaped much like that of a suit, forming two triangles on each side, while the sleeves are rolled to just above the elbows. Running along the edges of this jacket is another trimming of the same blue as on the white jacket. In addition, three gold buttons line each side, allowing the option to close the jacket.

His lower attire consists of a baggy pair of pants and various belts looping from one hip to the others. These pants are black in color and trim quite a few inches beneath the knees. Along the outer edges of these pants are a line of gold buttons that are like those on the jacket. Wrapped about his hips are three belts; two red and one black. The black belt wraps from the top of the right hip to the bottom of the left and has numerous white rectangles running along the middle. One of the red belts runs from the front side of the left hip and is completely red in color while the other, which runs from the back of the left hip to the right leg, has small black dots a few inches apart in the center.

In addition to this attire and his simple black hat, Iwao naturally wears a pair of high legged sneakers. These sneakers are black in color with blue trim, like the jackets. They are tied with black laces and are left partially open the farther up the leg the shoe goes, stopping a few inches above the ankles. The bottoms are white, however. Additionally, wrapped around his left wrist is a black corded necklace with a small black cross attached to it. It hangs moderately lose about his wrist but not so to the point that it might slide off.

Iwao's other possessions include a skateboard and a small leather sling. The skateboard is black on top with gold bolts and a white trim while the bottom of the board is the same red color located on his belts. The wheels however are white. The sling, which resembles a lose fabric book bag that ties around both shoulders with two belt like straps with silver buckles. It hangs low on his back and has a drawstring on the top allowing him to change the size at which it is open. Various items which can be found in this sling are a wallet, a baseball bat (with the handle sticking out of the top of the bag), and other various items of little importance.

Personality: Iwao is not one of those friendly people who will wish you good luck before an exam or say happy birthday. In fact, he's a pretty inconsiderate prick. Little impresses or amuses him. Therefore, he often watches people with a bored, uninterested gaze. This lack of interest is genuine too. He actually has little care for others, finding them to be more of an annoyance than anything else. Therefore, when even a part of the group he is more the outcast due to his negative comments, which truth be told are most of the words which come out of his mouth.

Due to this cold personality he is not easily liked and often is seen as a bully due t his temper. While it would take a great anger for him to take his bat to someone, he isn't afraid to threaten. While scoffing is simply a basic formality for him, such ticks as cracking of knuckles in his fingers and neck and the rolling of his wrists indicate an irritance. These ticks are his attempts to suppress the annoyance and in turn his anger. This is often coupled with various glares and scowls.

It is when he verbally attacks, often including numerous curses, that Iwao is actually angered. At this stage he is clearly annoyed and only wishes to put a stop to the annoyance, however; he is simply intimidating rather than a real threat. It is when he takes up his bat that one might want to consider backing off. He still won't flat out attack the annoyance unless motivated or pushed to do so but the bat is exactly what he means it to be, a weapon of both intimidation and fear.

Generally speaking, that is when his temper hasn't gotten the better of him, he is a manageable annoyance. He interferes little, save for a few negative comments, and is completely content to let everyone pass on their way. He is quiet and unimpressed and so uninterested in those around him. Truth be told his only interest in people (other than those who don't annoy him) are their personal possessions. Having grown up in the life in which he did, thievery was a common thing and so naturally he became quite accustomed to it. Therefore, he is drawn towards others possessions but he does have some moral conscience to what he will consider stealing.

Items which he might steal would only be those that are beneficial to him or that he is in direct need of. The only other reason he might take something is to get back at someone for something they might have done or said. Accomplishing such a task as thievery is somewhat easy to him, having learnt such skills from a young age due to his days on the streets. His skills in this area include lock picking, pick pocketing, and general all around sneaking. While he is not perfect he does have great skill in such areas although he is more of a low key thief. Being he doesn't steal anything of great value he doesn't find the need to hide fingerprints although he knows the importance of doing so. If it were that he ever needed to take something of greater value, he would take greater precautions.

His greatest fear would be that of fire arms. While his fear of them is selective to the point that they are only unnerving when in his presence and only truly fear inducing when pointed in his direction. Naturally, this is a common fear among many people and so the fear of being shot and/or dying from said shot is not unheard of. His particular reasoning behind being fearful of such an item is due to his father, who was shot and killed on the very streets Iwao learned to call his home. It is because of this that he has a dislike and fear of them.

Background: Iwao was born as any normal child to a moderately older couple of twenty-six and twenty-seven, his father being the older of the two. He was like any other bouncing baby; friendly, active, and curious. Naturally he got into trouble too but he was in all honesty as any other child and was just as loved. HIs mother was a stay at home librarian who only did volunteer work know that she had a young son to watch. Her husband worked a small business job that paid the bills and allowed him to go home every night and see his family. Occasionally Iwao would tag along with him when he went to work but he mostly stayed with his mother.

He was a well behaved child that had the natural likes of any growing boy and of course the moderate temper that came along with it. For the most part he was manageable, his mother often keeping him in line. He was a little trouble when it came to his first years in school, however. He naturally wanted to be liked and it was the kids who proclaimed they were better that he caught onto first. Therefore, he sort of was a bully but his teacher quickly caught on and his mother set him straight. From then on for the next few years he was the average boy. He did struggle with courses a little but overall he had alright grades. It wouldn't be till later that they would slip into failure.

When he was eight he received his first skateboard. It was a great joy of his and he quickly wanted to be the best in the neighborhood. Therefore, he practiced and practiced for hours a day after school, trying to land every new trick. He gained a small reputation as one of the better boarders at his school, allowing him to hang with the other 'cool kids'. Ultimately, he was happy. While not all of his friends were the nicest people he had friends who thought he was cool too. He'd make more friends when he turned ten and decided to take up baseball at a friend's decision to try out themselves.

Both were accepted onto the team and both were equally good. Iwao was better at batting while his friend at pitching. This made private practice easier and over time their team won many games, even their region's tournament the following year. They were great achievements for a young twelve year old and the support he received from his family and team, greatly appreciated. However, it would be later that year that his life would go downhill. It was one day, on the way back from work that his father was shot. They caught the shooter the following day but Iwao's father didn't survive.

It was a hard time, a hard funeral, and they would not get much better. Without the income from his father's job and the expenses of a funeral, financially they were in trouble. Iwao's mother began a full time job a few months later, leaving her son home most days when he wasn't at school. They made a modest amount that they certainly could live off of but it was still a change and it was during this time that Iwao began to skip school, instead simply skating around town.

For the first year he wasn't caught. He'd been smart enough to still get decent grades and not skip too many days at a time but he was quickly losing interest and so the following year he wasn't so careful. He was thirteen when his mother first caught him and fourteen when he flunked from school. Naturally his mother was upset but Iwao wasn't home a lot to see it. Now he spent most of his time on the streets with the crowd that wasn't good for him. He'd given up playing baseball for a team and had lost he friend who he practiced with but he still carried the bat. It was both a symbol to him because of his father and to his new friends as a form of intimidation.

When he did come home he simply fought with his mother. He didn't like to make her cry but he wasn't going back to school. When he was fifteen he knew his mother was doing poor and his friends did have some burglary experience and so it was then that he accepted their invitation to assist. They almost got caught but Iwao made it with a decent profit, which he sold on the streets and then gave to his mother. She naturally questioned where he'd gotten the money and he lied, saying he'd gotten a job on the opposite side of town. It made his mother happy and for the next year things were better.

It was on day when Iwao was sixteen and he'd come home late that night, bruised and beaten, that his mother found out the truth. For one thing she was distraught that someone had done such a thing to her 'little boy' but she was shocked to find out how he'd turned into a thief. She pleaded with him to give it up, to come home, but he wouldn't. He'd developed a reputation and along with it, his temper. He blew her off, rarely even going home at all, save to drop money on the porch. Little did he know his mother wasn't using it but she wouldn't tell him that. She knew he only meant well by giving it to her, even if he got it under bad circumstances.

The next two years were more of the same. Iwao had become feared among his group as a strong minded and skilled guy. The only downside, he physically isn't very strong. He certainly could take and deliver a few hits but his primary weapon, although the use of it is limited, is his bat. He more so uses intimidation than physical force. Regardless, he had a reputation as a thief and in all, despite how annoyed he became at others, he was mostly happy. However, it was when he was just about to turn nineteen that his mother caught him delivering the money. They'd seen each other a few times in the past few years but hadn't spoken. It was during this encounter that his mother told him about his invitation to a school. He didn't like the idea but he hadn't passed his entrance exams or gone to school in quite a few years. It was a great privilege to have received an invitation and he knew accepting would make his mother happy, and so he did.

Here's the start of my third character if you need her. Also I gotta say I always thought 25 characters was a bit ambitious on your part Touko. Maybe we should bring it down to somewhere between 14 to 18 so we can get started quicker

Name: Natsuko Uemura

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Super High School Level: Mechanic

Appearance: Natsuko stands at 5' 9'' and has a slim but sturdy build. Her face is rounded and friendly, and her amber eyes twinkle with fire and life. Her hair a dark auburn falls to just above her shoulders. Her mouth is small and tight, though often pulled into a smile.

Natsuko wears a brown leather sleeveless jacket over a white crop top with silver gear design on the front. She wears brown short-shorts with a white belt with gold buckle and dark orange converse sneakers on her feet. She also has and orange wrist band with a white stripe on her left wrist, black fingerless gloves on her hands, and a brown baseball cap on her head.

Personality: Natsuko is an energetic and tomboyish girl with a big personality. She's easily excitable, quick tempered and dangerously curious. She's the kind of person whose personality (or probably better stated, ego) is so large that it tends to get in the way of others' and she is not afraid of asserting herself. She has boundless energy that she puts into everything she does-- mechanics, fighting, friendships, rivalries, dares, everything. This has a problem of exasperating other characters.

Along with that bundle of energy, Natsuko is normally very open and friendly and very upbeat. She's welcoming to anyone in just about everything. She likes to tease, though this can teeter on bullying, and she overreacts to the slightest insult. Thankfully for those who offend her, Natsuko's easily bought off with her favorite food--steak. She is very protective of her friends, plus she's the first person to step up when she sees something she thinks is wrong being done, and she's not afraid of people bigger than her. Natsuko likes to see herself as a defender of justice, probably because she has a huge love of kung-fu flicks and aspires to be like the heroes from them.

However, her attitude and temperament can get her into a lot of trouble. She opens her mouth when she shouldn't, and she holds ridiculous grudges, reacting disproportionately to silly things. Her protectiveness of the people she cares about can make her careless. She wants to do what's right, but has a problem with disregarding her health and this very important thing called rationality. While her rashness and her quick temper are okay with friends, in the rest of the world this would be a definite problem.

But, she's not the cleanest person when it comes to negative emotions. Natsuko has a lot of issues with not being a "proper" girl, not having the feminine charm or temperament of some of her female friends, and she has harbored some jealousy over that for a long time. It turns out that Natsuko is needy in the way that she needs others to need her. If she can at least be the kind of person who other people need, it gives her value. She can't be the kind of girly-girl that guys like, and there is no contest between her and her female friends. She doesn't want to admit her own short comings, and her own negative emotions, even to herself to start with.

Natsuko is very intuitive. Put differently, she guesses really well and has incredible dumb luck. She also tends to blurt out whatever she's thinking, and it has a bad habit of being right. She's very aware that she speaks before thinking, and tends to not even believe what she's saying, laughing it off while making fun of herself.

Being from a small town, Natsuko is the kind of person curious about every strange thing that might happen. But while she seems like she wants to find new and uncharted things, when they actually do appear, Natsuko can be very afraid of them, quick to panic when there's nothing she can do to assist.

Background: Natsuko was born as the second child in a small town in southern Japan. Since she was little, Natsuko had always been a rough and energetic little girl, due to playing with her bigger brother all the time. She would often get into fights with boys in school who were picking on the other girls in her class. To avoid her getting into more trouble her would often bring her into the garage to help him when he was working on the family car.

This lead to Natsuko becoming extremely interested in all things mechanical. By the time she was 12, Natsuko could disassemble her bicycle and put it back together in an hour and was able to work on the car without her father's supervision. However this lead to her having fewer friends at school, so her mother started to try getting her more involved in more 'proper' female activities. While this lead to her gaining more friends, Natsuko felt like her mother just wanted her to become more like a girl than accepting her for who she was. It was then that her invitation came to her house, specifically asking for her mechanical expertise. Seeing this as a chance to prove herself to her mother, she immediately accepted

Other: NAtsuko always has her toolset with her which she carries round in a brown leather satchel. It holds a variety of tools including screwdrivers, spanners, a hammer, a handsaw, a wrench, and a pair of pliers. She has also trained herself in martial arts through extensively watching countless kung fu movies and learning off the internet.

Sign up finished. Probably the best and longest personality section I've ever done. Any similarities to another character can be attributed to me playing way too much Persona 4 Golden.

Finished my 3rd character, come on lets get some new guys in.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, everyone!

Arceus - Not sure if Cyrus is done yet, but I'm a little bit hesitant on accepting her because of this:

QUOTE(Arceus Awakened @ Jun 24 2013, 06:22 PM) *
Sometimes, she hears a voice - though this is different from most voice delusions as others can hear too.

I don't know if this is just awkward wording or what, but does this mean that others around Cyrus can hear Daeth too? I'm fine with her having a voice in her head if only she can hear it, but having the other students hear it too seems a bit impractical.

The other two characters are all good, I'll go ahead and add them.

Yeah, I thought maybe we'd get more people, but I'll probably go ahead and bump it down to 16 (which was the number of students in the original game) if everyone's okay with that.

Posted by: Dorito Ninja Jul 1 2013, 07:28 AM

I actually just checked and we are currently balanced for 6 boys and 6 girls, something I didn't see happening. Has anyone heard anything from Yzal though? Since he has a spot reserved I thought maybe someone should PM him

Posted by: Gorgon Jul 1 2013, 09:02 AM

Hi everyone... Sorry bout camp and dontkillmeimtoovaluable.
I'll be putting a third up, but don't wait up to post the topic. Would a Diva be too close to a Stage Actress for you, Touko?

Posted by: Wishful Jirachi Jul 1 2013, 08:49 PM

Thank you, Zapi. I do agree with the decision to cut the character count down to 16. I also don't plan to make a third.

Posted by: Dorito Ninja Jul 2 2013, 01:26 PM

Uh just so you guys know I'm gonna be in Portugal next week so unless i get connection there I aint gonna be on from Saturday onwards. Now I'm actually kinda hoping that those extra characters come slowly so I don't miss anything

Nah, Diva is fine.

Also, as I mentioned in the Roleplayers Coalition thread, for some reason I can't access this site (or GPX+) from any devices at my house. (I'm on hotel wifi right now.) Until that issue is resolved, I'm not sure if I'll be able to do much in relation to this RP.

edit: Almost forgot to mention, but the first episode of the Dangan Ronpa anime aired on the 4th, if anyone's interested! You can probably find it subbed online somewhere if you search (but if you need a link to a stream, PM me). The translation I saw was a bit...awkward though, and the animation isn't the best; but hey, it's an anime adaptation of a video game.
And for those who wanted to read the LP, the paywall's down now too! You can read it http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3447397.
I also just found out that http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2013-07-06/nisa-licenses-danganronpa-demon-gaze-games-in-west!! I'm so excited someone hold me

Posted by: Dorito Ninja Jul 13 2013, 03:34 PM

Hey guys just wanted to check, does anyone know people to PM about joining? I just got back from Portugal to find no new SUs in the last week and that sucks. I'm really looking forward to getting this RP off the ground, and I've really been getting into this game (the anime has helped a lot, love the first 2 eps so far) SO I'm gonna send a few messages out and if anyone else knows people than get the word out.

Also, if anyone wants to make another character but is stuck with an idea, I think a Super High School Level Acrobat/Gymnast might be kinda cool. I don't trust myself with a 4th character however, so don't look at me.

Unless someone else is willing to take over, I'm pretty sure this is dead.

Posted by: Zapi Jul 14 2013, 02:43 PM

I'm still here, kinda. I can probably just write RP posts on my own computer, then use my one of parents' phones to post them? Or something.

As for who to PM, I know Shadow Dragon is into DR somewhat, but I'm not sure if she'd actually be willing to join? Hmm.

Try her anyway, I'll get in touch with Touko just to make sure she still wants this to go on.

IU'm ready to start writing as soon as we get those people. I'm not one to start writing my posts before an RP starts, but I definitely will this time, just to make sure I'm ready.

EDIT: Never mind, just realised in my stupidity that Zapi and Touko are the same people.

Hey guys good news, I messaged the one and only Quomimi, and he said he was going to join, so that takes care of at least 1 character happy.gif

Posted by: Zapi Jul 18 2013, 02:38 PM

Suddenly, I can fully access this site again!! So ignore what I said before :P
And that's great that Quo's joining!

Posted by: Zapi Jul 26 2013, 07:50 PM

Giving this a bump. Is everyone still here?

Posted by: Quomimi Jul 26 2013, 08:15 PM

I'm still joining this! XD
Being busy has prohibited me from making a SU and reading through everything.
I should be able to look at this more closely later -- I hope.

It's alright Quo, take your time! c:

Posted by: Toogee Jul 27 2013, 07:09 AM

I thought this was dead, so I joined a bunch of other RPs. I'll make an attempt to play should this get back up, but I won't have as much free time as I did.

how did I not see this? this is one of my favorite games for visual novels =D can I still sign up for a spot?

Posted by: Dorito Ninja Sep 19 2013, 09:10 AM

Yes plz, SOMEONE start this thread

Posted by: Zapi Sep 19 2013, 04:31 PM

I apologize to everyone who was interested in this, but it's simply no longer a good time for me to be running an RP - especially not one as complex as this one. I greatly overestimated the amount of interest it would garner and perhaps made it quite a bit too complicated, so it ended up taking much longer than I thought to fill all the slots.

However! If anyone would like to take over the RP, you are fully allowed to do so! You can even steal my ideas. I don't care. I might even participate, who knows.

Again, I'm very very sorry everyone!! noes.gif
