Most of the time the shinies I breed end up going to people who aren't hunting them so I generally prefer it when they do... to me, they feel more "deserved" that way.

I try to think of it positively - after all, when I hatch a shiny from the shelter, I might be hatching a shiny they were breeding for. So we're all just kinda helping each other! I can only hope they're happy to get the shiny.
