Hello all,
I've been a member since 2009. I have a living dex (or almost one at least). And that is how I play. However, there have been a slew of new pokemon added, and now we are coming upon gen 9. There is not enough PC space for all these Pokemon, plus the novelties. I refuse to release any more, but this website is now unusable toa veteran like me. I don't play in events, shiny hunts, or anything due to limited space. I used all my coins to buy more PC space and I have maxed out. Please please please, give us like 10 free boxes because I literally can't enjoy this game anymore. If this is an impossible request, I will delete this from my bookmark tabs as there is no point in checking back here. FrightyDog -------------------- http://dragcave.net/user/FrightyDog

In the Pokemon games, the PC Boxes hold 30 Pokemon. If they expanded each Box to that size, that would give us 456 more slots for Pokemon

Don’t even need free PC boxes, I’d happily spend coins on them, not much else to spend them on here haha
But a hard agree, we really do need more space! -------------------- |

We either need more space or have the release waiting period reduced. But it might affect the servers slightly, I don't know the technical stuff.

Agreed! I recently returned to the site and while I don't have max PC boxes yet, I'm already in a position where it's tough thinking ahead about whether I'll actually get to play on here the way I want due to the storage limit. I haven't been as interested in the new official Pokémon games because I enjoy the collection aspect so much and it's a huge bummer to me that I can't actually "catch 'em all;" returning to GPX has been awesome because I can satisfy that desire to house a full collection of my little pocket monster friends, and can realistically hunt for and build a collection of shiny Pokémon too! But with all the novelties and new Pokémon being added, there's still just not enough storage to have that dream realized. I'm struggling to decide - do I disregard non-canon Pokémon? Would that even free up enough space if I did? Should give up on having a living dex of regular Pokémon and just be satisfied with completing their entries in the Pokédex, and have only a living dex of shiny Pokémon? But I also enjoy collecting regular Pokémon as I'm shiny hunting, and hold onto ones with high IVs/beneficial natures - do I have to let go of great Pokémon and only keep the best of the best for battles? Maybe for regular Pokémon, I only keep the highest stage in the evolutionary line, rather than a full living dex... would that give me enough space?
I haven't come up with a decisive answer yet, but I'm going to have to seriously consider it soon. I've been surprised at how quickly my collection has already grown now that I'm active again, and also by how many boxes I need to dedicate to participating in site events and shiny hunts. But even if there was no wait time for releasing, there still wouldn't be enough storage space for a living dex + living shiny dex. And realistically, yeah, a collection to the extent I want would take a while to complete and I might never actually make enough progress on it for the lack of storage space to matter, but I'd at least like it to be viable and not straight up impossible due to that limitation. I think expanding the current box sizes to the 30-Pokémon capacity of the actual games would be a great way to increase the current storage limit, though it would probably have to be provided as free storage. If GPX didn't want to give us more free storage for some reason, I would also just be happy if they increased the number of Extra PC Box Ultras available to users and pay full price as I need them. I've seen so many people ask for more PC storage because building a living dex is such a common way of playing on the site. Especially with all the new Pokémon being added, it just makes sense that more storage is added too. |

Strongly agree! I'm a new player who just joined this month. I would love to build a living dex, but I'm already out of space despite my account barely being a couple weeks old. If PC Boxes could just expand to 30 Pokemon per Box, that would be incredibly helpful to pretty much any player!

There are 75 possible PC boxes on GPX+. At 24 pokemon per box, that's 1,800 storage spaces.
Even if you include EVERY SINGLE pokemon dex entry, all alternate forms (regional, gender differences, gmax and mega evos, unown letters, etc), there are only 1,568 potential pokemon to collect, and that's already the maximum number currently. Not all of those pokemon are on GPX yet (especially later generations where we get maybe one evo line per month at the fastest), and not everyone (in fact I'd wager even most people with living dex ambitions) are going to be so picky as to want every gender difference as well as genuine form differences. There are enough spaces for a full living dex with like ten boxes to spare, and even on high multiplier days, most users won't go through ten full boxes in a single twelve hour period. The only way to not have enough space is if you're trying to have TWO living dexes (both shiny and nonshiny), however that would require almost doubling the existing space which feels unnecessary and unreasonable. Genuinely, I think for now, storage space is in an okay position. If you're running out of room, buy more boxes, or stop trying to make two living dexes at once. If PC Boxes could just expand to 30 Pokemon per Box, that would be incredibly helpful to pretty much any player! It sounds like you haven't started buying Extra PC Boxes, Extra PC Boxes Plus, and Extra PC Boxes Ultra, which are available in the various tabs of the shop depending on the 12-hour shop rotation, and give you another 50 boxes on top of the base amount. That should be plenty for a living dex. Even if you include EVERY SINGLE pokemon dex entry, all alternate forms (regional, gender differences, gmax and mega evos, unown letters, etc), there are only 1,568 potential pokemon to collect, and that's already the maximum number currently. You're forgetting to account for GPX's Novelty Pokemon, which adds another 200+ to the total. Still narrowly enough to fit a living dex through Paldea inside our current boxes, but if-when Paldea is someday eventually fully implemented on GPX+, by then there won't be any spare boxes for shiny hunting any more. I do agree with you that there are already plenty of ways for people to whittle their collections down to fit in the currently available space, like not collecting gender differences, or incorporating shinies into their regular living dex instead of having a full nonshiny living dex plus their collection of shinies. But on the other hand, GPX+ has been short on programmers for ages and ages now, and if we don't get the request for more PC boxes into the request queue now, then someday in the 2030s when we get enough Pokemon implemented to fill our current box space, asking for more will be piled behind so many more programming requests and it'll be too late. Better to get the ball rolling now. At least, that's my view on it. -------------------- |
