Okay, so in HeartGold and SoulSilver, there is a little known fact that you can acquire Shiny Leaves through your Pokemon. If you gather 5 on one of your Pokemon and talk to either Lyra or Ethan, you get them made into a wreath, and you get a diploma that says you are very kind to your Pokemon.

Explanation: Each Pokemon has a set nature, and along with those natures come set places each pokemon can gather Shiny leaves. You can only get Shiny Leaves if your pokemon's happiness is high. To get the Shiny Leaves, you must talk to your Pokemon (while its walking with you) on one of its nature's set routes. The set routes all are contained in groups of four natures each. (except for one)

Example:
Sentret. Docile Nature.
Its shiny leaves with be available on: Route 33, Route 36, Route 45, Route 7, and Routes 8, 13, or 14. ( the last one's route is pretty random)

A full explanation can be found here, but tell, did you know about this, or did you find it by accident, or did you know about this the second you first talked to your pokemon behind you? I didn't know until I was being an ubernerd during the summer and was just clicking around bulbapedia.

Recently, though, on my HeartGold, I was training this Slugma (for Pokedex purposes only), talked to him, and whaddya know? Shiny leaf. Lyra called me up after that because she had heard, apparently (LYRA SEES ALL ). Sooo... now "Charley" the Slugma and I are temporarily best friends until we can finish this quest and go back to ignoring each other.

i already have 2 shiny wreaths.

when i first found one on my shiny Ursaring, i found out more about them on serebii, and went on a hunt to find them. as of now, i have a shiny wreath on my shiny Ursaring, shiny Porygon2, and at least 1-2 shiny leaves on a few of my other pokemon (forgot which ones).

they're quite easy to get, really. it takes a little time, but its fairly easy for the most part.

I am currently trying to get one for my shiny Gardevoir, and I have 2 shiny leaves on her at the moment.

i have 0 of these unfortunately. i knew about them for some time now, i just haven't attempted to get them yet.


edit: about to get my first wreath on houndoom, then going for one on umbreon. is it possible to find more than 1 shiny leaf for the a pokemon in the same place? or do we have to go to another place to find another one?

I have 1 shiny wreath on my feraligatr and 2 leaves on my marill.

You have to get each one's shiny leaves on the separate routes, you can't get multiples for the same Pokemon on the same route.

I was able to complete wreaths for my Typhlosion, Crobat, Ampharos, Lickilicky, and Quagsire. I have random numbers of leaves on the majority of my other Pokemon that I like walking with.

I liked collecting them, but I remember initially thinking the wreath was going to be worn by the walking sprite. XD

When i randomly find a shiny leaf, i usually hunt for them since its like an OCD that kills me. If I have one, i must get all to turn into a shiny wreath : )

Question:

Bulbapedia says that Lax and Gentle are in the same Nature groups. I have a Lax Snorlax and a Gentle Articuno. Will that mean that one of them won't be able to get a crown because it is only possible to find one leaf per route? Or is it one leaf per route per Pokémon?

I learned of these one time and I got one Shiny Leaf for my Latios, then later I got an entire Leaf Crown, but I didn't bother doing that for any other Pokémon.
