I was playing Pokemon XD a few minutes ago, training for the final battle, when I realized something. In every single Pokemon game, all water typed Pokemon battle on land. Unless they are all amphibious, which is unlikely- most water types are fish- then I can see no other way of them surviving on land for more than a minute, let alone being able to battle on it. Does anybody have any idea how this is possible?

the same way there are extinct dinosaurs (lapras), elctric mice (pikachu), ghosts, legendary dogs, etc.
It's somthing that doesn't really need to be analyzed, but If I had to take a guess, they're like whales. They take one big breath above water and stay underwater for a long time, but opposite. Maybe their pokeballs are filled with water... But I can't recall a pokemon episode where a water pokemon was fighting on land aside from Mantine and Gyarados and other flyingordragon/water types... -------------------- Uprising (click to show ) |

I'm wondering how they're going to manage making a pokemon like gyrados or remoraid to follow you in HG/SS.

I guess I always imagined they levitated in midair.
But wouldn't that give them immunity to Ground moves...? Magikarp I always think of as flopping around uselessly on the ground no matter what. -------------------- |

I always thought that water battling on land was something we were suppose to ignore.

I also wondered about how they can use SURF on land. Where does all the water come from?

Here's a better question. How come I can send my Rapidash into battle against a Clamperl while using Dive?

Oops. I stopped the connection, it must have posted anyway.
May as well say what I think about the fish: Notice how so few of them have visible gills? Maybe they're like crustaceans in the sense that they have internal gills and can last a fair enough amount of time out of water. And maybe their swim bladders are filled with a lighter than air substance so they can stay out of water and fight. Just maybe. I mean, after all, anything's possible; this is Pokémon we're talking about! This post has been edited by JelloJolteon2000: Aug 14 2009, 10:34 AM -------------------- |

^Crimson Nemesis: Maybe it's like how you can stick your hand into liquid nitrogen for a split second (Your hand is so hot compared to the stuff that it actually evaporates). The water around rapidash evaporates instantly because of the heat, except the flames are WAY hotter and they can last longer than a hand would in liquid nitrogen.
