Okay so somehow I wound up with two summoning items. Awesome!
But I'm nervous about using them- I have lurked and seen a few threads with people complaining that they missed their legendary. I feel like this could happen to me easily.
Do you think I should wait to use these summoning items until I have most of the obtainable eggs and then use a Repel to up my chances of finding my legendary? Will this plan work? I've never had a chance to do this before.
Just looking for any tips and tricks from veterans here. Thanks!

They made it easier for summoners to find their egg.
Usually, it's very easy to pick 'em out ANYWAYS.
In fact...it should be obvious based off of the pokemon and their discription.

I'd save 'em for later. And then eventually summon 'em.
If you have any doubles, you can sell those or corrupt...depending on what it is.

I didn't need to use a repel to find my egg.

You might save your summoning item until a time when there are no eggs in the lab, then use it and pick out the only egg that appears.

Edit: Erm, I mean lab, not shelter. Sorry about that.

You could do that, it's quite effective, if you haven't obtained that particular legend you are summoning. Just make sure you've grabbed all of the different eggs you are able to. It doesn't matter if they came from the lab or shelter, repel will still do its job once you summon. The only two non legend/novelty eggs you don't have to really worry about getting are ditto and unown. They're fairly hard to come by in the lab, so no sweat if those are the only non Very Rare or novelty eggs you are missing.

I do normally try to wait for the lab to empty out myself, but usually for things I've summoned already, since repel won't work on those any longer. The lab doesn't empty as much as I would prefer anymore, though.

To tell you the truth, I never wait, and use my summoning item immediately. No repel, nothing. Its worked each time so far.

I think I'll try out the Red Orb thingy first (but not right this moment, don't want anyone camping at the Lab knowing when I'm about to do it xD) and save my Gracidea Flower for when I really know what I'm doing, because Shaymin is one of my favorite Pokemon. Here's hoping all goes to plan! '

New eggs spawn in the lab every 5 minutes, :00, :05, :10 and so on. Also, when you summon, you are guaranteed five minutes to find it. Within this five minutes, YOU are the ONLY person who can see the egg. Once that five minutes expires, the egg becomes visible to all users, and anyone is free to grab it after that.

I'm extremely nervous about using the Soul Dew, also. But it shouldn't be all too bad with five minutes to find it before others can =]

I just used a soul dew earlier. Was a little hesitant about it, as there were no repels in the shop today (Though I didn't know whether or not it would even summon the correct lati that I still needed), and the lab seemed a little full. I told a friend about the summon, on the off chance I couldn't find it in time, so he would have a chance to grab it, but I found it within 4 minutes. Sometimes the eggs show up pretty quick, sometimes they don't. Just keep refreshing and keep a close eye on the descriptions. Even if you don't know the description of the legendary you are summoning, they are often easy to pick out, because of hints of weather, or the word "bizarre," things like that. Put simply, they're descriptions you don't see very often. If you don't want to risk the 5 minutes, I would just suggest waiting until repels are in the shop again, or see if the lab empties out.

well.... I have little patience so I normally summon right away, no repels, but I think someone like you (you're new right?) should wait for an empty lab cause I doubt you'd have much work done on your egg dex. I summoned 3 times yesterday (well, in an australian day, the reset is at 2pm for me) and got them all

So as an update to this thread, I spent the summer collecting things for my EggDex and I finally decided to take the plunge and summon my guys tonight I could only buy two repels (I don't collect points as quickly as some of you) and they were, to be quite honest, useless! Maybe if my EggDex was complete they'd be more effective, but I was getting impatient. But these guys were right, you really don't need Repels to find your legendary. Shaymin and Groudon were very easy. The one I was worried about was Rayquaza- I got him right before my five minutes ran out. I was actually thinking "Surely my 5 minutes is over!" and was considerin giving up. Glad I didn't!
So yes, mission success.

If I haven't summoned the legendary it summons before, I use it.
If I've summoned that legendary before, I sell it.
If said item is an Enigma Stone, I sell it anyway since I hate Enigma Stones.

That's basically me.

Using repels on summon pokemon youve never obtained before is definitely a good thing to do.

I used to use all summon items I got, but so far i've been selling a lot of the ones i've gotten o:
