Something Wymsy and I (and some of the other staff writing stories) have been working on for awhile now is Explorations. Yes, this is what will be replacing the monthly events. Why has it taken so long? Because I've been coding it in such a way that we can easily add in more explorations whenever (there will be more, that you can count on).
To access Explorations, you'll notice you now have a new tab in your Pokétch; just go there. Before you do, it is highly recommended that you check out the new section on the Help page specifically for Explorations (click here!) because we really don't want to deal with a ton of new questions that are most likely answered there. I'll now let Wymsy explain, in the second post, more about Explorations. EDIT: For tasks where you must find an Exploration item, it is a lot easier to find than normal items. Update [09/29/10] Due to Explorations having been released in the middle of the month, and not having enough new Explorations completely finalized to release, we're going to let the current two (Jirachi and Celebi) run through October as well. But since October is a new month, this means your monthly limit will be reset. If you've already completed one of these Explorations, you will have the chance to do the other (or redo the one you just did). Also, this means that if you haven't completed your current Exploration yet, it won't be auto-ended for you tomorrow, so you can keep working at it in October. Note that there might still be new Explorations released sometime in October, though. -------------------- Want a rotating avatar like mine? Check out my website: randimg!

Though this will be replacing the monthly events, things like shiny races and art contests will still happen. Or anything else we happen to come up with for events.
Though at the time of this update there are no Normal Explorations to be seen, rest assured that they are currently in production. There are two that are planned to be out soon. The first of these is one to get an Exploration-exclusive Spiky-ear Pichu (it does not breed or evolve), and the second will be the long awaited Unown Exploration (it will give you a random Unown you don't have, or just a random Unown if you have them all). As you can see, there are two Special Explorations listed. Normally you'd have the whole month to do these, but this time you only have around half a month. Next time, you will have the entire month. If you complete the Needing a Friend Exploration, you will get a Jirachi. If you complete The Quiet Forest Exploration, you will get a Celebi. You can only do one of these two, so pick wisely. If you're somebody who prefers something more challenging, I recommend doing the Jirachi one. Just so you know, numbers within the tasks and requirements for these two Explorations are not completely set in stone. So next time these ones cycle in, do not be surprised if any numbers have changed. The artwork that will be shown in these Explorations are done by a few different people, and these Explorations are written by a team of writers (which incidentally like Nick said they're all staff so yeah). The majority of Special Explorations will consist of obtaining Legendaries that cannot be Summoned. Legendary trios are all grouped into one Exploration together, for example there will be one Exploration in which you can get all three Legendary birds. However, the catch is that you'll have to do that very Exploration three separate times. In cases like that, the one you get is entirely your choice. Hopefully this new system offers the kind of fun and prioritising on the user's end as I had hoped. Edit: Also don't worry if you don't meet the requirements for these, there are planned Explorations with lower requirements than these two. -------------------- Overtaken by Net & Zodi on that track!
