I know the last topic with this question said EXP was random, but I have without fail gotten much more experience from Bronze than Training mode; I have absolutely not gotten 1.5 times more from training. I've listed the battle results for four of my Pokemon, with the mode, the number of levels they went up after the battle, and whether they won or lost:

Pokemon 1
Training: 1-2, won
Bronze: 2-7, lost

Pokemon 2
Bronze: 1-8, lost

Pokemon 3
Training: 1-2, won
Training: no change, lost
Training: 2-6, lost
Bronze: 6-11, lost

Pokemon 4
Training: 8-9, won
Training: no change, won
Training: 9-10, won
Training: 10-15, won
Training: 15-16, won

The only possibility I could think of is that going against lower-level Pokemon gives less experience, but that pretty much makes Training Mode useless. Is this the way it's intended to work?

I'm curious to know how Pokemon are matched up in Training Mode, since the "amount you paid" thing doesn't exactly apply here.

I know my first few Training Mode battles gave me crazy multilevel EXP to the point where I posted a help topic for fear I was about to get banned for hax or something, but I don't seem to get the gains I used to... consequently, I've been sticking to Bronzing it up with a set team.

Simple. The experience gains you get are completely random.
There's no factor that determines it, other than the fact that if you enter the Training division the experience you get is multiplied by 1.5 and then awarded.

You probably just got unlucky. :<

It seems statistically unlikely that I got unlucky the dozens of times I used Training and lucky every single time since I switched to using Bronze...

It depends on the level of the opponent, so you'd just likely ended up with higher level opponents in your bronze matches.

this would make sense, that's why I use bronze for leveling my pokes, even though I always lose. it's cheap and you're likely to face off against a lvl 80-100 which means a good 5+ levels per battle most of the time

Now that I'm looking at my Tyranitar's stats (as an example... if anyone is interested: http://gpxplus.net/info/nRyLq), I can really see this is true. However, even when my Tyranitar gained 5 levels from a level 83 Geodude, it still seems to be a lot lower than how it was a week or so before - is it only level, or does the rarity make a difference as well? Evolution stage?

And how the Hell did my Tyranitar fight a level 9 Venasaur clone?!

Ah, that makes sense--thanks for the clarification.

It does make Training mode pretty pointless, though, because the only people that use it are those who are leveling up low-level characters, meaning that it's extremely hard to get more than one or two levels, if that. Bronze isn't that much of a pain, but considering I always lose since I'm leveling with it, a more useful Training mode would be nice!
