So at the moment the only way the Silvally memories are obtainable is through the Poké Hunt. The thing is this means users can potentially go for years without being able to obtain a particular type of memory, purely because of something they have no control over. Adding a method where the user could choose the type of memory, even indirectly, would mean if the user wanted a particular memory they could actively work towards obtaining it rather than waiting for the site RNG to spit out what they need.

For example, shards can be obtained both in the Poké Hunt and through hatching a shiny Pokémon. So if a user wanted, say, a grass shard, they can shiny hunt grass type Pokémon and hatch grass type eggs until they hatch a shiny and get the shard. This allows the user to influence which shard type they get through taking specific actions on the site instead of waiting for a grass type Poké Hunt to happen.

On the other hand, the memories are obtained purely through the Poké Hunts. There hasn't been a ground type Poké Hunt since August 2017, before the memories were introduced. So unless you got it from the random distribution when it was released, it's currently impossible to obtain a ground memory, or a ground Silvally. According to the site statistics there are around 100-200 of each of the non-normal Silvally forms. Ground has 18.

I'm not entirely certain what could be used as a new method for obtaining them. Perhaps they could be a second shiny hatch item if the user has already obtained all the shards of that type, or possibly just a regular hatch item similar to the Vs. Seeker items. I would suggest making them a Type: Null hatch item, but considering the 30,000+ egg maturity and that what type the user got would still be based on whatever the RNG happens to land on I feel that wouldn't really improve the issue much.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing myself - wondering why I didn't have ground silvally. then realised the same as you, we'd had no Ground type pokehunt since August 2017.

Would love it if they either adjusted the pokehunts to allow all types to rotate through - or if the randomness is to continue they give us another way to get them. Prize points maybe?

It's just a problem inherent to complete randomness. It shouldn't be this random, all resources should have a max 1 year cycle. I don't think it would make much difference if they deliberately gave us a Ground Pokehunt, much like they do with the exploration schedule. Or it could be a 70 p.point voucher for one memory, something that can easily be done. Just so the memories could have one other way to be obtained that isn't complete luck.
