Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ PANE RP School _ Questions As They Come

Posted by: Earl Jul 24 2008, 07:56 PM

Hmm...a few questions.

1)How will gym battles be played out? Will the mods be given control of the leaders, or must the RP'er play both sides of the story- leader and challenger?

2) After an RP, will the mods decide level distribution for our Pokemanz? Or will the RPer in question decided..."Hmm, I think Croagunk should get Gunk Shot about now!"?

3) As there has been admittedly little to go from, can RPers add small things at will? Persay, a coliseum in Petropolis? Or should we deign to ask moderators first?

Posted by: Falkyn Jul 24 2008, 09:04 PM

1. Gym leaders are actually played by the mods. Essentially, the leaders are going to be the mods' characters.

2. Yes, mods decide level distribution. As for move sets, if it makes sense for a pokemon to know the move at the level it is, it can use the move. No Hyper Beams at level 20 or stuff though.

3. You can add things, yes, but keep in mind that, for anything major, it would probably be best to ask a mod, just in case.

Posted by: Earl Jul 27 2008, 04:22 PM

Hmm...

As being from FEP, I have a tendency to follow their trends. So, will roleplaying itself be done Skylessia style- a 5 or so cast, etc, or will it be a one-on-one affair, more...Flaming Journey like?

Posted by: Falkyn Jul 28 2008, 12:32 AM

Actually, a lot of what I've done is based on Skylessia, so...yes.

Posted by: Earl Jul 29 2008, 10:00 PM

Trading Pokemon. I think it'd be interesting to show what trainers would do when trying to control the unruly Pokemon. So, how will that be handled? The interested parties PM eachother, work such out during an RP?

Posted by: Falkyn Jul 29 2008, 10:26 PM

I love it when people answer their own questions. Yes.

Posted by: Living Arrow Jul 31 2008, 11:11 AM

Er... hey! I was just looking at the list of starter Pokemon. I understand that a Pokemon has been taken from each region (except the poison and rock groups) and I was wondering if Pikachu should be changed to Pichu?

Pokemon capture... I don't understand that rule... Does it mean that you have to RP with a mod (and use up board space with many posts) or just make a post with the end being the throwing of a pokeball? (using one post and less board space). The explanation of the rule seemed to take a little for both :S

I shall begin making a profile now happy.gif

Posted by: Falkyn Jul 31 2008, 10:23 PM

Naw, Pikachu shall remain a starter.

As for catching pokemon, it should take place in RPs with other people. Like, say someone sets up an RP to have a tournament, blah blah blah, you can catch a pokemon in that post and be like "YAY!" Pretty much just make a post and throw a pokeball, as you put it. Depending on the pokemon, though, the mods can rule that you didn't catch it, based on overall strength of the pokemon as compared to your party, and other deciding factors.

Posted by: Rusty Abe Jul 31 2008, 10:33 PM

I feel kinda dumb asking, but what is a mod?

Posted by: Falkyn Jul 31 2008, 11:16 PM

Mod is short for Moderator. When used around the RPs, it refers to people like me, Chore Boy, and Velyoukai, who created this RP and run pretty much every aspect of it. We approve profiles, grade profiles, answer questions you may have, and various other things.

Posted by: Jaima Aug 5 2008, 10:58 AM

Since we're doing Anime style battles, are we also taking the Anime style stand that pokémon know more than 4 attacks?

Posted by: Etnie Aug 5 2008, 11:34 AM

That's what Ive been doing. plus some pokes in the anime know moves that they dont know in the game.

Posted by: Falkyn Aug 5 2008, 01:04 PM

As long as it's logical for the pokemon to know the move, said pokemon can use it. I personally always hated the "only knows four moves" thing.

One more question: How is leveling up handled? Obviously, in the anime, levelling isn't tracked and pokémon evolve when it is most convenient for the trainer (ie: In the middle of a battle), but also obviously, my riolu would not evolve into a lucario in it's first battle. So, how, if at all, will we be tracking levels?

Posted by: Falkyn Aug 5 2008, 04:26 PM

That hasn't been stated in the rules already? Odd. I'll have to fix that.

Anyways, after you complete an RP, it will be submitted for mods to grade it, and when it's graded, the mods will tell you what pokemon gained what levels.

Posted by: Living Arrow Aug 6 2008, 12:14 PM

Linked to the experience question, how is evolution handled? Do we post a request, or do the mods just tell us when our Pokemon evolve?

Posted by: Falkyn Aug 7 2008, 03:26 AM

What we figured is that a Pokemon would evolve at the level it usually evolves at. For traded Pokemon evolutions, they evolve after a trade (take away the items like King's Rock and all that stuff. It just makes it confusing) and for happiness evolutions, request it of a mod, and they'll give you a decision.

Posted by: Living Arrow Aug 22 2008, 08:29 AM

This may have been answered elsewhere, but what are the rules concerning finding and capturing "shiny" Pokemon?

Posted by: Falkyn Aug 24 2008, 02:56 AM

Eh...no shineys for now. I think we're going to give them away as prizes or something, but Kilvy's in charge of that project, so we'll have to ask him.

Sorry about the delay in response, I was at a wedding.

In that case, I need a ruling on http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=4163&view=findpost&p=48039, in which my character "catches" a shiny pokémon. It was made before this question was asked, because I didn't think a shiny would be a big deal. If it's not copacetic, I will have to edit my posts and trainer cards (not a problem, just a tad annoying).

I do wish this had been mentioned in the rules before the RP started, but life goes on.

Posted by: Falkyn Aug 25 2008, 12:06 AM

Sorry about that, but it would do for people to keep in mind that we're still in testing phases, for the most part.

Posted by: daxtertik Aug 29 2008, 10:52 PM

All right, I've got another one. If your part of the RP is finished, can you move on to the next one before your RP is graded?

Posted by: Falkyn Aug 30 2008, 09:48 AM

I suppose, but you wouldn't get as many levels as you would if you just found reasons to stick around.

Posted by: The Rose Crusader Aug 30 2008, 01:48 PM

The reason he is asking this, is because the RP is neaar the end of its life, and we (Jaima and I) just need to finish it. He was wondering, since his character has finished his role and is moving on in the world, if he could leave Port Barley before it was quite finished with, seeing as his character has finished and left Port Barley.

I think it is justified, seeing as his RP experience was hurt due to an absence of another RPer This person had just not posted at all and we have decided to move on without him. Daxtertik waited with much patience during the time to wait for the person that left to post. He just wants to continue to RP as quickly as possible, which isn't a bad thing. happy.gif

Posted by: Falkyn Aug 31 2008, 12:07 AM

Oh, yeah. Sure, go ahead then.

Posted by: Living Arrow Sep 6 2008, 09:50 AM

Another evolution question fiasco!

If you didnt want to trade, could you just use the game-related item and use it like an evolutionary stone? (e.g. Misty's Poliwhirl picked up a Kings Rock and evolved just like that).

If so, when acquiring evolution-inducing items, can we just obtain them willy-nilly? For example, I could catch a Porygon one post, then find and upgrade, then find a dubious disk... and before you know it, I have a PorygonZ.

If not, how would one go about getting such items?

Now, lets say I have a pokemon 1 level off evolving. I'm mid-rp and am fairly certain that the work I have put in so far is enough to grant evolution. Do I still have to wait until the end of the rp for my levels to be distributed, or may I pm a mod and request a "premature" evolution prior to grading.

Fast evolvers like Darryn's caterpie will likely gain enough levels in a single rp to evolve twice rather close together. Is this permitted in a single rp, or do we have to slow this down and have a single evolution in such a line per rp.

Finding wild pokemon, as I understand it, just has to be logical. But is there a limit on what we can find? For example, finding an electabuzz this early in the roleplay would be weird, but once a trainer has higher levels, not so weird? Do we just use common sense in this?

Pokemon Eggs. Can we stumble across nests and find them? Can our own Pokemon breed without being left in daycare?

Finally, traded pokemon. Will they be getting an experience boost doing the rp grading? Linked to this, what about the Lucky Egg item?

All done happy.gif

Yes, you could just go with the evolutionary item.

I think they'd work best just being given out as a prize. We'll get to that later.

You can always PM a mod for premature evolution. It's up to the mod though, so you may get a "no".

One evolution per RP sounds like a fine way to handle it.

If you want a pokemon, but aren't sure whether or not it's allowable, PM a mod and they'll decide.

Pokemon eggs give me another idea for a prize...

And no, experience boosts sound too unbalancing to allow.

Sorry about the lateness, but I was busy yesterday.

Hate to be a stickler here, but is that one evolution per RP per pokemon, or just one evolution per RP? For example, if I had a lotad and a sentret that both reached 15 in the previous RP, can they both evolve within the next storyline?

The first one.

Posted by: PsycoKitten Sep 17 2008, 03:03 PM

What exactly is PANE RP?

Posted by: Falkyn Sep 17 2008, 04:10 PM

It's a roleplaying world based in the Pokemon universe.

Ask a vague question, get a vague answer. Would you care to be more specific?

Posted by: Jaima Sep 19 2008, 09:48 AM

More questions!!

I have seen people updating hteir profiles (I refer to them from time to time to see their characters so I may interact properly) and have done the same, but is there anywhere specific we should be keeping track of the pokémon levels and catches?

This is probably an annoyingly silly question, but do we need to confirm each and every catch with an RP mod, or just the ones that would be difficult or out of place?

You've mentioned prizes. I have no doubt that they are handed out by Mod's discretion, so I'm not asking for one, only to know the criteria, if there is any, for getting said prize.

Exp. Share: Possible, improbable, or in the game with a different function (For example, it bould be used like a TM, but instead of using a machine, it connects two pokémon briefly allowing one to teach the other. That's just an example of a different possible use, not a suggestion bucktooth.gif)

Level updates, as of right now, are most easily kept track of in the profile of the RPer. Note to self: Bug SaS for PANE Sidebars...

Every single pokemon catch needs to be confirmed by a mod, if for no other reason than it helps us keep track of who's got what, etc. etc.

Prizes will be handed out for certain things. For example, once we reach what I deem a satisfactory level of activity, we'll be instating such things as Roleplayer of the Month, monthly (maybe bi- or trimonthly) contests, and World RPs, RPs where events are so large they could potentially impact the entire region of Furoh. Hopefully, we'll be able to see those soon.

As for Experience Shares, I'll think about it.

Posted by: Lemonade Nov 23 2008, 03:48 PM

Are we supposed to keep track of pokemons' levels on our profile?

Posted by: The Sexy DJSanders Nov 23 2008, 04:08 PM

Two questions.

1. If a pokemon faints in a battle will it still gain experince or just dosen't get any (like in the game)
2. If you ask for premature evolution and a mod says yes can we do it after a pokemon faints in a battle so as to "revive them" in the battle?

Posted by: The Rose Crusader Nov 23 2008, 04:23 PM

I think this is pretty common knowledge so I think that i could answer these questions.

Lemonade: That's what I do. I update my character's profile with the underscore of the title being the last date of update. If we didn't how else would we keep track of levels? Oh, and grats on name change. wink.gif

DJ: This is pretty simple I just feel like writing something right now which is why the response is soo long. wink.gif

1. The only way pokemon gain experience in PANE is after a mod grades your RP and gives you the amount of points. To answer your question, let me give you an example. In Gigarte Park, once it has been graded, I will be assigning half of my points to Taillow and half of my points to Feebas. But wait, Feebas didn't battle, did it? Regardless, I am allowed to give Feebas experience points. So no, not like the like the game at all. Another example, this one in real life. If you did 100 push ups and then fainted, would your 100 push ups still count? Of course they would! You would have more muscle mass in the areas worked-- it wouldn't just go away. For future reference, when comparing PANE to something pick the anime over the game--it just makes more sense, ya know?

2. I know this is contradicting to my previous answer, but this is like the game. Well, PANE is more like the anime actually, so we'll call it that. You cannot revive something once it has fainted in a battle. Period. Then there would be no point in battling and the whole time people could just be flinging revives around. Of course, your situation is not like that, but i hope you understand what i am trying to say. Your pokemon should evolve, if prematurely at a high point in the battle. Ex. My Combee did just that 2 posts ago in Gigarte Park. It evolved at its strongest point. In the anime did you ever see a pokemon faint and suddenly evolve? Not to my knowledge. But yeah, no evolving after a pokemon has fainted.

Posted by: The Sexy DJSanders Nov 23 2008, 04:49 PM

I didn't mean after it fainted i ment at a point close to fainting.Like the pokemon can hardly get up then it evolves fully charged?

(i come a lot more than 100 push-ups before fainting)

Posted by: Monk Nov 23 2008, 05:18 PM

RC is right. If my Phanpy suddenly evolves, barely hanging onto consciousness, the Donphan it becomes is still gonna be really tired.

If a caterpillar metamorphasizes while it's hungry, the butterfly it becomes is still gonna be hungry.

Posted by: The Sexy DJSanders Nov 24 2008, 06:52 AM

Ok i was wordering couse like in the show a pokemon will evlove then it will suddleny become an ass kicking machine.

Posted by: Monk Nov 24 2008, 04:10 PM

We can't always stick to the anime, else we have Electric types beating Ground types, finishing things off with False Swipe, AND aiming for the horn.

Posted by: The Dark Knight Dec 13 2008, 10:06 PM

Okay, my question regards Furoh's currency.

I have been looking around this forum and I have seen so many variations that I just don't know what it is. So far i have seen:

Poke
Poké
[POKE]
Pokedollars

etc, etc.

You get my point.

I would like to point out that according to bulbapedia.com, these are the two officially recognized forms of currency:

Poké- used in PMD
Pokémon Dollar- used in GoD and Colosseum

So I suppose my question is: What should we officially call the currency of Furoh in your RPs?

Posted by: Monk Dec 14 2008, 12:39 AM

Howsabout the official name is Pokemon Dollar, but it's Poke (accent aigu) for short.

Posted by: Jaima Dec 14 2008, 05:47 AM

I always kind of thought it was all the same currency, but different people called it different things. For example, pokebuck, pokedollar, poke, pokeyen, pokegold, etc. But all the same, denoted by a capital P with two short lines through the tail.

BTW, you can make the e with the accent ague by holding down the ALT key, typing 0233 on your 10-key pad, the letting go of ALT. The only time I don't do that is when I'm posting from my phone...

Posted by: The Rose Crusader Dec 14 2008, 06:44 AM

That's very helpful Jaima, I alway have typed Pokegear into google to get the accent.

Wait, it still doesn't work. Darn, the one weakness of my iMac!

By the way, thanks for clarification.

Can we be from cities in other regions? (Pallet Town, etc.)

Posted by: The Rose Crusader Dec 20 2008, 07:48 PM

Characters can come from anywhere in the pokemon world; from any of the 7 main regions from the Islands (Orange Archipelago and Sevii Islands), or Furoh

If you look in the http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showforum=89 of PANE, all of our characters come from all over the globe which will give you a good idea about how far they traveled to get to Furoh.

Delayed official response: Yes.

One evolution per RP sounds like a fine way to handle it.

After all that, here's my question:

1 evolution per post was described by Falkyn (according to the Caterpie > Butterfree lineage), but how many different Pokemon can evolve? For example, what if Darryn's Pidgey, Metapod AND Eevee were all set to evolve... could that happen in a single rp?

Posted by: Monk Jan 24 2009, 02:25 PM

Yeah.

A question about trading evolution, say I had a Rhydon and traded it to another person just to evolve it, cause like in the anime the trainers would trade, but not to evolve and then suddenly their pokemon would evolve. So my question is would I trade, then it would evolve and we would trade back straight away or would the other trainer keep it, maybe until the end of the RP, then decide to trade back?

And would lending a pokemon to another person for a battle, like jaima and melinda did in gigarte, would it count as a trade?

You said that evo items would be given away as prizes, in the "Maiden Voyage" there is a battling tourney with a prize, could the prize be an item that suits the RPer like I would want a moon stone for my Nidoran to become a Nidoking.

Also say I was in a fish market, could I buy a magikarp and keep it as a pokemon?

Lastly, Im on the SS. Anne at the moment, could a trainer abondon a Rhyhorn, then would I be able to keep it?

I reply to this because my name was evoked.

For a precedent to loaning pokémon to another trainer for an important battle, I used Ash letting Misty borrow Pikachu in the Princess Tournament episode. I don't think it was considered a trade, since she didn't part with one of her own pokémon (Jaima has five and she had three tongue.gif)

Posted by: Milo Jan 26 2009, 11:10 AM

What I mean is could that make a pokemon evolve as if a trade had happened?

Posted by: Jaima Jan 26 2009, 12:10 PM

http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=4017&view=findpost&p=51498 explains what happens with trade-with-item pokémon. In summary, the item works as a regular evolution item without a trade being needed.

I can't find where, but I think the four "just trade to evolve" were decided just to be evolved as if they were friendship evolutions... If I find the post, I will link it here.

No. You still have to ask me for it. And you sorta hafta win the tourney.

Also say I was in a fish market, could I buy a magikarp and keep it as a pokemon?

Yeah, I guess. Not in a fish market though, as Jame's Magikarp teaches us that they're bony. Nobody would cook and eat a Magikarp. Probably in an alleyway, a peddler trying to scam trainers.

Lastly, Im on the SS. Anne at the moment, could a trainer abondon a Rhyhorn, then would I be able to keep it?

I don't know what abondon-ing is, but, I guess.

So if you want Goldeen steak, go for it.

Posted by: Milo Jan 27 2009, 10:33 AM

Well in the anime, they usually buy live fish. sweat.gif

Posted by: Monk Jan 27 2009, 03:27 PM

In the anime, they eat rice balls.

The Magikarp merchant is just a scammer James met up with. He wasn't at a market.

I was reading through a few of the PANE forums and saw an arguement about leveling up, my suggestion is that you would do normal PANE level calculation and then multiply it by a certain amount according to type.

Like bug would be normal PANE levl up total multiplied by 1.5 and then say dragon would be multiplied by 0.5, obviously not the exact numbers but its just my suggestion.

I actually have two questions if that's alright...
1. I have absolutely no idea what a Mary-sue type is.... so could someone elaborate?
2. I'm not quite sure on how a battle works... Do two people battle on PM's?

(I hope these weren't already asked...)

A "mary sue" is a character who enters into a storyline and is about 10x more awesome than the main characters in the story. It's not as prevalent in pokémon stories, since every character is usually a original character anyway, but they still can be sorta way cooler than Ash yupes of characters. Not all original characters are Mary Sues (or Maury Stew, for men), but they sometimes tend to be.

Battles can be handled either in a turn based posting system, or in PM/IMs. It's up to the battlers.

Thanks Jaima ^_^.gif

Now would anyone who knows about mary-sue's very well check out my PANE profile and notify me if it's one? I'm not very confident in my judgement.
It's the userbar in my sig...

Uh, nah.

I really dislike personality sections anyway. It all depends on how you play the character,

Ok, thanks michael smile.gif
also thanks for putting in time for approving my profile in the first place ^_^.gif

Edit:
I have another question, how do the pokemon level up?
After a battle is there a certain number of EXP points the pokemon earns?

Posted by: tiakall Mar 28 2009, 11:00 PM

I have a little question, will probably have more once I actually start a profile, but for the moment...

Would it be possible to play a Ranger? I could supply more on a potential concept if desired.

Posted by: Milo Mar 29 2009, 01:55 AM

I can answer Knil's question, no, when you finish an RP you submit it for grading http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=4208 and then you get a certain amount of levels to award to your pokemon.

Posted by: Michael Weston Mar 29 2009, 12:16 PM

@Tiakall-

You mean like, befriending but not catching pokemon?

Forgive me, but I've never actually played Ranger.

Yes. When they perform a "capture" by befriending a (usually agitated) Pokemon, it's usually released right away or used for a specific task (such as using a Buizel to put out a small fire) and are then released after performing one task. They often have a single partner pokemon which travels with them, but otherwise don't take pokemon out of their native area.

That's fine with me.

'lo! I have a couple questions and I need to get them down before I forget them. Again.

1. Can you play with your same character in two different RPs at once? I have both Tuesday and Sagira, but could I play Tuesday on two RP journeys on PANE at the same time, or do I have to finish one before I start another?

2. Can you play an RP by yourself? Granted, I know half the fun of pulling an RP is having other people in it so that you don't know everything that's going to happen, but I'm a writer and I love writing stories, so I didn't know if it would be okay to do a sort of... well, a fic, to be blunt, with just me playing and having my little journey toward poke-power and all that jazz.

3. And... well, depending on your answer to question 1, could I do a solo-RP and an RP with other people at the same time?

Thanks. :P I know I'm a pain in the ass.

You must complete one Roleplay before beginning another.

You could, but I wouldn't really reward you for it. The whole point is to react with others. See, you could very well write a fic about your character and place it in writing or what have you, but i'm not going to reward someone for writing a solo story.

3. And... well, depending on your answer to question 1, could I do a solo-RP and an RP with other people at the same time?

You could write a fic and be in a graded RP at the same time, and I'd be fine with that.

Thanks. :P I know I'm a pain in the ass.

Here's something I hadn't considered until now in relation to contests. I'm not sure whether anyone else is a co-ordinator in PANE, so I'm not sure how this has been thought over, but where would a Grande Festival be held? Assuming 5 ribbons would be needed, that would make the contests at Petropolis, Arasam, Gigarte, Barly and Fidona, so would a Grande Festival be held at Daioh, like how the Champion Battles are held there?

Question: If I'm in an RP, and the RP is dead, what should I do?

Posted by: Michael Weston Apr 11 2009, 11:52 AM

Check to see if the RP's already been graded. If not, kindly submit it into the RP Grading and move on.

Webbyness had a Co-ordinator question that I think got accidentally missed... If not, ignore my stupid intrusion sad.gif

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Apr 12 2009, 08:08 PM

I was wondering.

I realize that Shiny Pokemon aren't generally allowed under normal circumstances, but what about a Pokemon that was an Albino? Would that be permitted?

Naturally, it would just mean that they (in this case, hopefully an Eevee) would have pure white fur and light-red eyes. However, I figured I'd add in something like they're sickly or have some sort of medical problem, since I think that occasionally goes along with albinism.

Anyways... yeah. I was hoping, but I wanted to check first.

Thanks!

Another quickie, how do I go about leveling my pokemon after a rp? As in, what do I put in/out and the like.

Posted by: Michael Weston Apr 28 2009, 09:57 PM

Sorry this is so delayed. Just 'quote' the post, copy and paste the relevant section into your profile, and assign the levels as you see fit.

Posted by: Webbyness Apr 30 2009, 02:56 PM

What are the rules on learning new attacks? Especially TM and Tutor Moves from the games? For example, if Zeke caught an Ice type Pokémon and repeatedly used Icy Wind against his Aipom for weeks on end in training, would this be enough for the learning of Ice Punch? I know that this sort of situation would make Aipom tired, so if I tried to implement something like this I would write in that Aipom would be unable to battle because of exhaustion, etc. Is this the kind of thing you would expect with learning new and obscure attacks? Of course, Zeke's Aipom wouldn't be able to learn this until it were much stronger anyway.

Posted by: Michael Weston Apr 30 2009, 09:44 PM

That reminds me of the one episode Brock's father used...HYDROELECTRIC ENERGY...to power up Pikachu enough to defeat Brock! Hmm, sounds totally untested und hiiiiighly dangerous. Let's do it.

As I recall, my precursors used a sort of system where one could find a tutor at a town, but you'd have to leave the Pokemon with him/her for a while as the Pokemon learned the move.

I see your point on that... bad example. xD

So learning a move outside of it's usual level up moveset, requires training with some kind of tutor? OK, thanks for telling me. =]

Posted by: Michael Weston May 2 2009, 10:16 PM

Well, of course. It has to be a learnable move by the Pokemon. Ice Punch is a Tutor-able move for an Aipom.

MEESTOR MODERATOR >:D

Posted by: Webbyness May 5 2009, 04:16 PM

What about moves based on acrobatic skills, like Aipom learning Bounce? Would that be the kind of thing that would come naturally to it, or would that still require tutor time? I'm not planning on implementing these examples... they just come to mind easily. xD

Posted by: The Rose Crusader May 5 2009, 04:20 PM

I'm gonna have to say no to that one. While theoretically it could be possible for an Aipom to learn Bounce and the moderation team could make an exception, then we would have to start making exceptions for all these other cases--chaos.

While it is a nice idea, however, realistically it would be so full of probable problems that it's impossible to put into effect.

I have a question, but it's a bit of an odd one.

Can you RP as an actual Pokemon instead of a trainer? For example, you're a wild Pokemon that a trainer (another player) catches and you RP as one of their Pokemon. This excludes legendary Pokemon, of course.

Nevermind, that was a stupid question. Don't know why I even asked that.

Posted by: knil1 May 22 2009, 11:48 PM

Uh, I have a question I believe is important...

Is it ok to keep editing your RP character profile as to get it up-to-date?
I'm actually kind of guilty upon this act and it just occured to me this might not be allowed...
I didn't see it stated anywhere that I couldn't do it, but I just wanted to make sure...

Posted by: Hungry Hungry Houndoom May 22 2009, 11:54 PM

It's actually been common practice to do so, add pokémon caught and levels and so on. There is a seperate thing to TRACK levels, but updating your profile isn't wrong, so long as you don't fundamentally change the past.

We know, now, that's a bad idea. o.o

Posted by: Bill Nye May 23 2009, 08:31 AM

Posted by: knil1 Nov 20 2009, 11:42 PM

I believe this has already been asked (that's why it's a half question), is there a "Safari Zone" area in Furoh?

Posted by: KamonPeachFox Nov 27 2009, 07:49 PM

This is probably going to make me sound stupid so... I apologize in advance for the following stupid question >_>

OK, so say I put up a profile, and some Moderator says that I need to change something. Do I change the profile in the first post, or post again?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Nov 27 2009, 08:07 PM

There are no stupid questions but those that remain unasked.

You edit the first post, then you may post again after the mod's post to inform us that you have made the changes asked for.

Posted by: Gearbits Nov 27 2009, 08:41 PM

So I'm typing up my first RP post since I really want to play with Sawyer, and i figured I'd ask before I assume.

1. When sailing in, like he has done, from Hoenn to be exact, would he dock at Barley, or are there other smaller port towns along the coast.

2. Also, is there a certain order that the gyms must be fought in, like the games, or is it just whichever city you happen to reach in whichever order you happen to start in, since the path through the game was very much ordered due to how the main routes were set up. I ask cause I really want to get Sawyer to Arasam and mountain country. He's never seen snow.

Posted by: Doc Nov 27 2009, 09:01 PM

1) Barley is the usual route, and would probably be the closest from Pacifilog Town. While other, smaller port towns might exist, Barley is probably the best bit. (That is to say, you'd have to make up an entirely new town for him to dock in.)

2) No particular order. Unlike in the games, the mods will change the gym leader's levels to match your player's own.

Posted by: Douken Sota Nov 30 2009, 02:31 AM

I am not sure if this is asked, but while we are waiting for a test to be graded, can we start up another thread?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Nov 30 2009, 03:17 AM

It has been asked. You may start another RP so long as the last one you were in has been submitted for grading. You do not have to wait for the grade to go through.

Posted by: Mechanical Lullaby Nov 30 2009, 09:34 PM

Say that, for the purposes of an RP, you brought in a non-PC-or-NPC-owned Pokemon. After a while, you decide you want this Pokemon, and send in a request to the mods to have that particular Pokemon. They agree and you eagerly await for the next RP so you can catch that demonic stalker Skitty Pokemon.

However, after much deliberation, you decide that you don't want this Pokemon. You want a different one instead and wish to keep the first Pokemon as a sort of NPC-mon. Do you re-PM the mods telling them of your decision with your new Pokemon's bio? Do you also need to seek permission for an NPC-mon, a la the Jigglypuff in the anime? Will I ever stop speaking like this?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Alright, thanks! I'll be PMing a mod shortly for the new Poke's information and such.

Posted by: Immortal Whisper Dec 2 2009, 05:07 PM

OK, so lately I've been thinking about something and if I don't ask it my head will end up exploding. It's something really simple. I was wondering if only Psychic types can establish a mental link and turn their thoughts into words (all this because I forgot the word. Dx) to talk with humans within their minds. I was wondering if a Pokemon that has a strong enough mental capacity and endurance (wait, what?) could use the same method. Like Lucario from movie eight.

So yeah, just have to get this out of my head.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Dec 2 2009, 05:14 PM

There are cases in Furoh Canon of just such a thing happening. Lady Foxtrot, Darryn Kellor's vulpix, for example, has great mental capacity and mind-speaks, but only to him. Shadow, Jaima Kuonji's Lucario, has recently discovered he can "speak" in much the same way, although he is not as versatile at it as a psychic might be. Some ghost types may also broadcast telepathically.

Most others "speak" in a sense, but to each other in the pokemon language. There was a case of a slowking which handled an emergency call center, because it could speak both human and pokemon.

It is POSSIBLE, but run it past a mod first, just to be safe.

Yes. Barley is one of the most common starting points for foreigner trainers, but it is by no means the only one. Roleplays may start wherever you wish.

three questions:

2. how do we go about breeding? As in, where would we put them to breed? do we have a daycare, or what?

1. Shadow Pokemon have appeared in the game (one is currently owned by Waker, though this is not common knowledge: Two other characters have encountered them, but one has been cured and the other character is not active). I would say you would need good reason and mod approval to catch one.
2. Breeding has not been addressed as of yet; We've seen eggs, but not actual breeding. It is not beyond the realm of possibility of two pokemon traveling together to produce an egg, however, it would be best to run this by a mod first.
3. ALL Pokemon, save legendaries, are available to be caught. Some have penalties to their growth (see the first RP Grading post in the PANE Discussion board), and some will need 'good reason' before they will be allowed. ALL catches must be approved by an RP Mod.

Shadow pokemon: go http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=14394.

I think the breeding questions have been answered in another thread, so I'll skip to the rare pokemon. On catching rare types, you should probably wait till you have a couple RPs under your belt. You won't be coming across one as you walk out the door.

On legendaries: go http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=17396. That should answer your question wink.gif.

Posted by: Amissa Dec 26 2009, 05:40 PM

I have some questions about money and fees.

1. Where are we getting money from? Battling other trainers, wrestling it from defeated pokemon (final fantasy style pokemon), working when and where we get the chance, or what? Who decides how much we have?

2. What do we do with money? How much does stuff cost in Furoh anyway? If we have to pay up after a defeat, then how much and what happens if you can't pay?

Yeah, that's really more than two questions isn't it? Well, you get the idea. Thanks in advance!

Posted by: Living Arrow Dec 26 2009, 06:49 PM

1. Money aint important. We don't keep track of it as a strict rule in PANE so you could just be sponsored by The Trainers' Association" or something like that. Heck, treat it as a student loan!

2. See above.

As an added bit of info, if you wish to involve money in an RP - just keep it as simple and realistic as possible. As I said before, we do not keep track of Poké (the currency in pokemon land) and so you dont need to worry about it.

Posted by: Luxembourg Jan 7 2010, 01:20 AM

Say that we're stuck in a little RP-ing rut with out current character, and have already made up a profile for a new character to replace the old one. Should we wait until all of our current RPs (including Castle Vonmoto) are done before posting this new profile, or may we post it now and wait for our current RPs to end before using them?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jan 7 2010, 02:13 AM

As a mod, I would say wait until the current RPs are over before changing characters, and to avoid confusion, wait to post the new profile as well.

As a player, I say, "awww, I liked Waker!"

Posted by: Living Arrow Jan 7 2010, 02:56 AM

What's wrong with Waker?! I liked his Nido-Duo! True, his inability to talk may have gotten a bit old *don't shoot me!* but all in all I was fond of him happy.gif Plus, I wanted Darryn to go schiz when he saw a Shadow Ekans :p Nevermind - I completely agree with MH.

Posted by: Luxembourg Jan 7 2010, 04:41 AM

Hehe, thanks for answering - and to answer LA's question, I never really found out what I wanted to do with Waker. His personality and goals were all over the place, and it's just really hard to keep him consistent.

Which leads me to this question, which I believe I have asked before:

Say that, after a few extensive RPs, you decide that your character needs a 'reboot', if you will. When I asked this before, I was referring solely to aesthetics - hair, clothes, and such. This time, I want to know if it's permissible to completely revamp a character's profile. Give them a slightly new biography, tweak their personality; in essence, starting over. The only problem I can see at the moment (it's very early in the morning here; I'm not quite coherent yet) is the Pokemon's levels, and if they'll retain them in the revamp (if it is allowed, of course).

Once I get the answer to this, I'll wait out Trainer Training and Team Kids before I make up my mind on Waker. Thanks in advance. .)

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jan 7 2010, 07:11 AM

I really don't see why that would be a problem. Though the basics of Tuesday remained the same, I changed a good deal about her at one point, and have even added a whole crapton of stuff in (not the least of which is the fact that she can "control" Aura).

Of course, this is all going to depend, likely, on what changes, as in that you will have to have your profile approved again, but I don't see what the problem would be, really.

I think, if you wanted, you might be able to simply add a reply post onto your character's current profile now and repost the profile without deleting the original. That way, we (the mods) could approve/deny it in advance, and then you can simply shift after the current RPs are over.

And for the record, I'm incredibly fond of your character, so anxious to see what you have in mind for changes.

Posted by: Living Arrow Jan 7 2010, 07:23 AM

Hey, Lux. There is a page for this situation: http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=16823

In short. You've gained 38 levels. You may transfer 19 to your new profile's Pokemon. This will increase when you complete your current RPs. Promise me one thing though? You'll keep doing pictures for your new character? happy.gif

Posted by: Xal Jan 7 2010, 10:19 AM

I've got an NPC coming in fairly soon (it's been approved), so where should I put a bio for him? Should I write one up for the wiki, or put one on the end of my PC's profile?

I was also writing a fanfic type story about his background, so would that be allowed? I'm guessing it would go in the writing section, unless I'm allowed to have it in a PANE forum somewhere (but of course I'd understand and take no offence if that wasn't allowed, especially since it would have very few ties to Furoh).

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 7 2010, 10:25 AM

NPC profiles go in the wiki, though I guess there isn't too much of a problem putting a post in your profile thread.

Fanfics go on the fanfic board. You can put a link in your sig to let everyone know where to read it wink.gif.

I'd say mid twenties. I averaged out levels when other pokemon learn it. I don't know if we have any other system to pass those things out, so unless other mods have a suggestion, this will have to do.

Posted by: Amissa Jan 14 2010, 09:04 AM

I have another question, and this time it's about water pokemon. I love water pokemon, but in the anime they were sorta lame. What's the point of having this awesome level 50 seadra if all it does is flop around uselessly every time you have a land battle? So what kind of explanation are we using to allow these water types to fight on land?

I like to imagine they can swim through air, you know, not high enough to be immune to ground attacks but well enough to enable them to fight on land. That would also make attacks like water veil make more sense.

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 14 2010, 11:22 AM

To tell you the truth, I'd like to know the answer to that myself :P.

So far in the RP, fish pokemon were released only in water. If they were in battles, there was usually a water source nearby.

My advice: get something with legs or is part flying.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jan 14 2010, 11:45 AM

I, for one, have seen both happen in the anime: There's fish-water types that float, but seem to be more *comfortable* in the water. I speak specifically of the Pokemon League tournaments, in which there isn't always a water source nearby. A seadra was used at one point, and it seemed to stand on it's tail, or even float there.

The manga, especially, is fond of the floating fish theory. I, personally, don't mind this, so long as it isn't used, as Amissa has already anticipated, to give them a great big immunity that they wouldn't have otherwise.

Oppositely, in Pokemon Ranger, fish pokemon are only found in underwater areas, and can't be brought to more land-locked areas.

As 2gamers pointed out, however, there are plenty of bipedal, flying, or otherwise land-capable water pokemon out there. A short list is the buizel line, any water starter, the wingull line, and the shellos line, which is a slug-type and can move on land.

Posted by: Douken Sota Jan 14 2010, 08:43 PM

Hope you don't mind me throwing my 2c into the question.

How I see it, a fish-shaped pokemon, like Goldeen, would move around, hopping on their bellies, which would also cut down speed (except Magikarp who could drown himself with no issues).

Posted by: Padawan Umbrae Calamitas Jan 17 2010, 02:36 PM

I agree with the floating fish theory. grin.gif I imagine that the water pokemon are more comfortable in the water, but are capable of battling outside of it.

You could also say that whether or not a pokemon balances/floats well is dependent upon the individual.

Posted by: Living Arrow Jan 17 2010, 05:34 PM

Personally, I hate the floating fish idea but it seems I'm out-voted on this one. If you don't want to be limited to water-battling, don't catch something that can't walk/slither/fly wink.gif

As for the Pokemon that require water based on their body shapes, I don't think there are really that many so there shouldn't be a problem. I mean, who wants a Goldeen?

Posted by: Amissa Jan 18 2010, 03:06 AM

I love goldeen. sad.gif In fact, goldeen was the main reason I asked this question. Now I'm going to go start a goldeen fanclub just so I can exclude goldeen-hating meanies like you, LA.

Okay, not really, I'm totally joking. Except about goldeen being cool.

As for Daniel, he's not picky. He'll throw a pokeball at anything he even thinks is a pokemon. He's not going to care whether or not it can battle on land. Frankly, he's not going to care whether or not it can battle at all. But, since I'm randomly choosing the wild pokemon he encounters and attempts to catch, there's always the distinct possibility that it might be a fish. If it is a fish, I just wanted to get an idea of what to do with it and I appreciate the discussion that I seemed to have stirred up.

Furthermore, what about contests? If the fish can float, there's no problem, but I like the image of someone doing an underwater ballet with their pokemon. Would a water source be provided?

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 18 2010, 07:50 AM

I'm sure one could be provided on request, especially if you have some contest cred wink.gif.

Quick question.

Is at at all possible, in any way, shape, or form, to have a Wooper as a starting Pokemon?

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 18 2010, 03:50 PM

I wouldn't have a problem with you obtaining one in your first RP, but I don't like deviating from the starter list.

What is the wooper's significance?

Posted by: Luxembourg Jan 18 2010, 04:00 PM

Alright, then. Just checking.

Aside from liking them - I mean, they're axolotls! Who doesn't love axolotls? - the character I've been playing around with is a really laid-back sort of person who just seems like they have a Wooper instead of, say, a Squirtle, because of how low-maintenance they are.

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 18 2010, 04:54 PM

Low maintenance? If something knocks off those gill things on its head, it dies of suffocation!

Posted by: Luxembourg Jan 18 2010, 05:06 PM

Hehe, true. He could just stick it in an aquarium and feed it once a week, though. Of course, he'd have to worry about it getting ich or something...

Oh, another question. We can choose not to evolve a Pokemon, correct? If we want to keep a Pokemon in its current form forever , will our character have to permanently equip an everstone on their Pokemon to keep it from evolving?

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 18 2010, 06:09 PM

If you don't want to evolve it, don't evolve it. No special things required. wink.gif

Posted by: Luxembourg Jan 18 2010, 06:57 PM

Right then, thanks.

One last question - is there an age cut-off? I know a character has to be ten years old at minimum, but how high into the age bracket can they get? I know that the oldest character so far is 23, so is a character over 30 plausible?

Posted by: Padawan Umbrae Calamitas Jan 18 2010, 07:14 PM

There is no exact cut-off age that has been said, only that one should "be reasonable." I personally feel that the limit should be 25, but the other mods may have their own opinions on this, and I would await for their response, as well.

Also, having a pokemon that never fully evolves is in some cases awesome. grin.gif Grovyle for the world. wink.gif

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 18 2010, 07:46 PM

Like PUC said, there's no upper limit, though we expect a good reason for a 30 year old to be out adventuring with the kids. Hopefully nothing that would get him arrested :P.

Also, the older your character is, the more they experience, and the longer I expect the bio.

Posted by: Padawan Umbrae Calamitas Jan 18 2010, 08:28 PM

Hey, one more letter and you guys can just start calling me Puck! -_-.gif I'm sure no one got that, so we'll just move on.

If you do have a 30 year old trainer, you also might take into account physical ability. No offense to anyone here who is thirty years old, but some people are not athletic and/or do not retain athletic capabilities into their thirties. Might be a little hard to climb a mountain with a bad back (I couldn't do it, and I'm in my twenties).

Posted by: Luxembourg Jan 18 2010, 10:30 PM

Hey, they could go the other way and start calling you Robin Goodfellow, y'know.

And as for NewGuy, I guess I'll plop him in the mid-twenties. He's just been 32 in my head for so long that it's kind of hard imagining him any younger than that, whoops.

Last question for tonight at least. What's the stance on vehicles in Furoh? I already know that scooters are allowed and that cars would kind of eliminate the point of exploring, but what about other modes of non-Mon transportation? Can we rent ATVs for mountainous travels? Bikes for the old farts so they don't throw out their back carting a huge sack o' supplies?

Posted by: 2gamers Jan 18 2010, 10:47 PM

I don't see why not.

You guys are making me nervous. D.

Erm, another question. Someone (I believe it was Puck) once asked about albino Pokemon, and as far as I can remember, it was allowed, although the albino Pokemon was weaker/was ill due to the genetic mutation. Does this still apply?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jan 19 2010, 08:34 PM

We don't want a sudden albinosplosion on our hands, but I don't see albinoism as rare as shinies, either (and we have a few shinies in the world as it is). That being said, I think one or two more wouldn't be amiss, so long as it's well explained, etc, etc.

That being said, the person who asked first hasn't introduced it yet.

Posted by: Padawan Umbrae Calamitas Jan 19 2010, 11:14 PM

It was me! *waves her hand* Yes, I asked about albinism and it was approved. grin.gif I also have an explanation for it, as well. As I think, though, pokemon should not be limited to perfect little clones of each other. Even golden retrievers, who look similar to each other with a generally singular-colored coat of blonde, have varying spots of white and such, different eye-color, etc, etc. Nothing huge (we don't want purple wailords or green eevees), but albinism, while rare, is still a real thing, and I don't think these should be ignored for the sake of having a perfect party (but then, I love drama and conflict).

The pokemon in question - Eowyn - will be introduced soon enough. grin.gif

Also, I am equally excited about reading your new profile, Lux!

Well, I've looked through PANE's forums now, and it looks just as interesting as Uprising. (I'll most likely be participating once I have more time, and a complete character sheet.) ^_^.gif

I do have a question, though, XD. Would an unusually colored pokemon, not shiny, be accepted? Say ... Rattata's are usually violet and beige. What if it was blue and white instead, because of genetics?

EDIT: Make that two questions - Would a non-starter pokemon like Eevee be accepted in egg form if it doesn't hatch until later on? (Certainly not in the first or second RP, though.)

I'm going to say no to the rattata. We only go for minor changes. I think that would be too big.

For Eevee, you could just catch one in your first RP. Is there any reason you wanted to start with an Eevee egg?

I figured it'd be best to ask, XD. No need to clog up the character thread because I didn't.

Oh? I didn't think that captures were allowed in first RPs. Never mind, then. This would be more feasible than my original idea. *Sweatdrop*

Thank you for the clarification, though.

So, how does PANE handle shinies?

I'm just a bit curious because I really, really, really love shiny breloom and can't stand to have a normal Breloom, despite them still being very cool and I just want to see if it's possible to get one in anyway in the roleplay.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jan 28 2010, 03:32 PM

Shinies are always going to be rewards for something. Classically, they have been the first place reward for winning a PANE contest (a writing contest), and will likely remain that way, owing to the rarity of shinies. So far, there are three players with shinies in PANE, and two other shinies belonging to NPCs.

Posted by: Golden Lucario Feb 2 2010, 02:27 PM

I just wanted to check. Is My NPC one of them? Tom has a shiny Staryu... (at least, he has so far)

Posted by: Master Houndoom Feb 2 2010, 03:19 PM

Reilly Coombs and an unknown Team Deception NPC are the two that I was thinking of.

Well, I'm sorry to be bugging the Mods again, but I have another question. I know that friendship increasing items are rare and/or expensive ingame, so what would be the likelyhood of obtaining a Soothe Bell?

Posted by: Living Arrow Feb 3 2010, 05:07 PM

You can get a Soothe Bell wherever there is a shop (i.e. whenever you want one). It does not induce evolution as simply as a stone so you'll have to expect to wait several RPs before happiness is high enough for an evo. Simply pm a mod to request evolution and we'll make a judgement call based on your RPs.

Posted by: Moonlight Zelda Feb 3 2010, 05:44 PM

All right, thanks. You do present a good point, but I'm glad to know my character can get it in a shop/etc. I'll keep that in mind. ^_^.gif

With the announcement of Generation V I've been insisting that at some point a pre-evolution for Kangaskhan, since as it is Kangaskhan is somehow born fully grown but with a baby. Now, irrelevant build up waffle aside, what's the PANE stance on Kangaskhan and its child? If a Kangaskhan were to hatch from its egg would it hatch as the adult or child form? Would a baby Kangaskhan eventually grow up?

Posted by: Doc Feb 7 2010, 02:07 PM

We don't talk about Kangaskhan here.

That is to say, most Kangaskhan are born without a baby in their pouch.

However, when the trainer isn't looking, the Kangaskhan will slip away, and when the trainer next sees her, she'll have a young.

Posted by: 2gamers Feb 7 2010, 03:42 PM

Actually, that's not a baby. That's a tumor.

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 7 2010, 03:51 PM

Can't help myself, but you know those guys that were supposed to be twins but they are fused together instead? That is the case.

On a more questionable note, if someone got an egg, how long would you say it would take to hatch and would we have to fill the request form for it?

Posted by: 2gamers Feb 7 2010, 03:57 PM

I think you would have to spend at least a couple of RPs carrying the egg around. Besides, if someone didn't want to carry the egg around, why didn't you just catch it? >_>

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 7 2010, 08:48 PM

Alright, now if a Pokemon evolves in the game by trading, like Haunter to Gengar, do you actually have to trade? And do you need the specific item if the need t like Dusclops to Dusknior?

Posted by: Doc Feb 7 2010, 09:34 PM

Happiness evolution. If it requires an item, you'd better get that item.

Posted by: Living Arrow Feb 8 2010, 12:18 PM

And getting that item requires a request to a mod I aint havin no level 1 Weavile on MY watch!

Posted by: Golden Lucario Feb 10 2010, 01:19 PM

NPC question.

For my next RP, my character will stupidly get himself captured and knocked unconscious by savages. When he wakes, they'll drug him with a sleeping draught, so he'll be out of action for a while.
Tom Hawk, my NPC, will also be in the RP. He's a character I use quite a bit, so it's no new character. I was wondering whether or not I could have him as basically my main person. It would only be for that one RP. And Alex would wake up from time to time.

If that's not allowed, then are secondary characters allowed?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Feb 10 2010, 01:32 PM

The problem centers around who is going to be getting the levels for pokemon, and the answer is "Alex". Tom Hawk does not, and we do not allow secondary characters.

My suggestion would be for you to switch things: Have Tom being captured and play Alex. Also, I don't think we satisfactorily answered the questions of whether or not a primitive culture would be in or around Furoh.

Posted by: 2gamers Feb 10 2010, 01:48 PM

If you speak of the Furites, they mysteriously disappeared from Furoh before the Founders arrived. There might be a tiny population left (you better have a good RP to use them), but they would not be "savages".

I suggest changing the villian(s)

I am intending to give one of my pokemon an egg move, but I am not too sure how they work. Must the pokemon be bred? I'm pretty sure that pokemon in the wild breed with each other, so I think that it may be possible, but not very likely, for a wild pokemon to know an egg move as long as it makes sense for both parents to breed in the wild. (Example; Lapras with Omanite for Tickle would not make sense as Omanite is a fossil)

On the topic of moves, I am curious as to how Counter and Mirror coat work. In the Anime, Jessie's Wobbafet(can't spell) looks like it does not take any damage when using these moves as they :bounce" off. Knowing this, how do we know when a Wobbafet (Or any other pokemon that decides to use Counter/Mirror Coat repeatedly) faints?

Also, I was wondering about rare-but-not-persuedo pokemon. For example, if a trainer already has three rare pokemon, Eevee, Clefairy, and Freebas, are they allowed to catch another rare pokemon like Munchlax or Togepi?

Bulbapedia rocks in so many ways. If you want to give a certain pokemon an egg move, find their breed on bulbapedia. There is a list of what egg moves said pokemon can have, based on what pokemon the father is. If it's on the list, it's plausible.

As a note, however, some pokemon are able to have more than one egg move. I have seen some with up to four. We don't want massive god-modding-powered pokemon, so I think the limit is one or two in this case (though I wouldn't say no to some secondary modly views on this).

Looks, as they say, can be deceiving. From what I understand, Mirror Coat and Counter work to protect a pokemon from the full extent of damage of respective attack types, but I don't believe that they protect them entirely, so they will receive some damage. Because we don't use HP counts here (thank goddess), fainting-time is to your own discretion, but please be reasonable.

If breeding works in the game, that's all that matters. We don't need to *see* the breeding so it doesn't need to make sense :P

Use Counter and Mirror Coat in much the same way as Revenge - take the damage as normal but just go crazy with a counter attack.

For all Pokemon, rare or otherwise, you need to post in the capture request thread. If we deem the trainer to be "unworthy", we'll say no. To b honest though, we only rely deny powerful stuff like dragons etc to rookies.

Posted by: 2gamers Feb 15 2010, 07:28 AM

If it evolves by level up, I say go for it. The exception to this would be stone/friend/item/etc evolution. You would need permission for those.

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 24 2010, 07:44 PM

This may be obvious, but when adding gained levels and you caught a Pokemon from that same thread you got the levels, can you apply the gained levels on the newly caught Pokemon?

That's what I did. wink.gif

Posted by: Xal Feb 25 2010, 09:20 AM

Something I've realised from filling out the Uprising form is that I'm not particularly good at writing a detailed profile before I get a feel of the RP (which is, of course, unfortunately when we make our profiles).
Is adding more to our profiles if we're not happy with them all right? I know about small changes to the character, but I'm talking about things like adding more to the biography but not really changing the character. So, for example, I wouldn't say Malcolm had a sister since that would be changing the fact he's an only child (well, I don't think I ever said that, but let's just pretend I did for the sake of convenience irritated.gif ). Instead, I might write about a few childhood experiences which don't contradict the profile already written or his story in PANE.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Feb 25 2010, 10:58 AM

You could do that! But, there is now a wiki which can serve as a repository for information that would probably be better.

Posted by: Xal Mar 2 2010, 04:43 PM

Thanks, I was planning on updating both.

Yet another question though, what about talking pokémon? Are the telepathic abilities shown by some of the psychic pokémon in PANE something all psychic types possess, or just a certain few (I guess this is more of a general pokémon question though pinch.gif)? Are pokémon that can talk without telepathy, like Slowking, allowed?

QUOTE(Doc @ Feb 7 2010, 11:43 AM) *
Okay, let's just go down the list of Pokemon that, without any specific breeding or genetic tomfoolery, are granted some psychokinetic ability.

1st gen.

Psyduck (though mindspeak might be beyond it.)
Golduck
Abra (though it naps all the time.)
Kadabra
Alakazam
Slowpoke (same boat as Psyduck.)
Slowbro
Gastly
Haunter
Gengar
Drowzee
Hypno
Vulpix
Ninetails
Exeggutor (I'm on the edge about Exeggute. On one hand, it is psychic, but on the other, it's a bunch of eggs.)
Mr. Mime
Jynx
Mewtwo
Mew

2nd gen.

Togetic
Natu
Xatu
Ampharos
Espeon
Slowking
Misdreavus
Girafirag (if you don't mind Jekyll/Hyde)
Entei
Raikou
Suicune
Lugia
Ho-oh
Celebi

3rd gen.

Ralts
Kirlia
Gardevoir.
Meditite
Medicham
Volbeat
Illumise
Gulpin
Spoink
Grumpig
Feebas (Flowers for Algernon style.)
Milotic
Shuppet
Banette
Duskull
Dusclops
Chimecho
Gorebyss
Latias
Latios
Jirachi

4th gen.

Mismagius.
Porygon-Z (krrzt. link achieved. directive?)
Gallade
Dusknoir
Froslass
Rotom
Uxie
Mesprit
Azelf
Cresselia
Manaphy
Shaymin
Arceus

Exceptions:

Transformed Ditto cannot.
Unown.
Wobbuffet
As a general rule, baby Pokemon who evolve into telepaths cannot -control their abilities- or are limited to a rudimentary form of telepathy.
-Togepi
-Smoochum
-Mime Jr
-Wynaut
-Chingling
Sableye
Drifloon/Drifblim
Spiritomb

Things I'm not Too Sure About:

Lunatone, Solrock, Baltoy and Claydol are on the edge (sorry 2g!). They seem too 'ancient' to need to be telepathic.

Beldum, Metang, and Metagross are too robot-y, as are Bronzor and Bronzong.

Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza fall under the 'ancient' paradox.

Deoxys. It's from SPACE!, so why would it need the ability to have a nice chatty-poo?

And while the dragon trio from the 4th gen are legendary, they aren't really -psychic.-

This is Doc's list of telepathy speakers. It's still missing a few (vulpix, riolu, lucario), but it should help. Any other pokemon should be approved by a mod.

I don't know about a talking Sloking though.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Mar 2 2010, 09:22 PM

Currently, pokemon that can speak human language are a no. This may change, but it will take some discussion with the current mods (the original mods didn't like it, and there's been no other reason to change it.)

Telepathic pokemon who are not on that list ARE possible, based on their genealogy, but currently that is by mod approval only.

Posted by: Dragava Mar 12 2010, 11:30 PM

Are there any areas in Furoh that offer a battle frontier-like battles? If not, are players allowed to create one?

While on the topic of telepathy, about how many posts/levels would it take for a pokemon to get the skill? Also, is it possible for humans to transmit messages to pokemon? Can a psychic pokemon read minds and tell its trainer what another pokemon or person is thinking?

Edit- Are we allowed to change our pokemon's names? It might be unreasonable to change a pokemon called Flare to Lucky, but small changes like Jessica to Jessie or Mareep to Mer should be okay, right?

LA: No and no. No-one has completed the Furoh League as yet so they are simply not needed - we have 4 perfectly good Gym Leaders and a Champion for Trainers to focus on. Once we have a Furoh League Winner, maybe we'll consider it.

The level of the Pokemon's skill is initially dictated by its evolutionary stage. For example, a basic Ralts might only be able to communicate words or images but not long sentences until it is around level 20. The more the Pokemon evolves/gains levels, the more improved its telepathy will become. If in doubt, pm a mod with an example and we'll let you know.
Yes, it is possible for a trainer to transmit messages to a psychic Pokemon. This, however, can occur in one of two ways. 1. The human has some sort of psychic ability. 2. The psychic Pokemon has already "opened a connection" between minds, allowing a response from the human (this method requires the Pokemon contact the human first).
Mind-reading is a touchy subject (i.e. the Pokemon needs to be VERY powerful to pull this one off). We don't want any god-modding. Emotion-reading, however, is perfectly legal and probably just as useful.
And yes, a Psychic Pokemon could tell his/her trainer what another Pokemon is saying.

You can always change nicknames for you Pokemon. Just to make things easier for mods, please detail this in your Profile by hitting the Edit button. (Large names are definitely allowed).
Alternatively, you could visit a Name Rater in any location to change the name.

A few questions.

1. Say that Trainer B is an NPC who is not in Furoh itself, but a different region. Say that Trainer B is also an aspiring Pokemon Breeder and has stumbled across an egg and wishes to give it to Trainer A. Trainer A is a PC in Furoh. Would sending this egg over be allowed?

2. Some Pokemon are bred to know egg moves that are rather powerful at lower levels. If a Pokemon (eg Doduo) knows a powerful egg move (eg Brave Bird), would it be possible to have both the Trainer, Breeder, and Pokemon not know of this skill until it is a much higher level?

3. How does one go about getting an egg approved? Do we use the Pokemon Request form, a different form, or ask the mods directly?

Posted by: 2gamers Apr 5 2010, 08:10 PM

1. That works for me. Just say so in the Pokemon Capture Request.

2. People make these requests all the time, so yes, that works.

3. Um, see #1.

Posted by: Luxembourg Apr 5 2010, 08:20 PM

Alright, thanks. Just one more question - how many egg moves can a single Pokemon know? The Doduo I bred in SS knew four egg moves, but I'm guessing that's pushing it in PANE (especially when three of the four egg moves are a little overpowered).

Posted by: Wolf Heart Apr 5 2010, 09:40 PM

2 or 3 seems an adequate number of egg moves. I suggest you ask a mod about specific egg moves before implementing them, perhaps when you request to "catch" the pokemon, if possible, and a mod will inform you whether or not the egg moves are all right.

Posted by: Xal Apr 6 2010, 05:12 AM

Are there any set limits of Metronome in PANE? I guess that the moves it chooses should be realistic for the level the user is at, but what else?

Posted by: Living Arrow Apr 6 2010, 01:25 PM

Metronome has actually never been dsicussed properly for PANE before... In terms of the roleplay, I'd say anything can come out of it but just scale the power down, according to the Pokemon. i.e. a level 10 Togepi using the move to get Flamethrower would do around the same amount of damage as an Ember but just look different.

We are actually having an argument if Leech Seed would hit one or two targets in a form of Double Battle (one on one on one). Can we get mod opinions to help settle this?

And since I may see this coming, the Spore attacks as well like Spun Spore....

Posted by: 2gamers Apr 8 2010, 09:45 PM

Both attacks target only one opponent in the game, so lets try that happy.gif. Then again, the "one on one on one" seems a bit unfair, two pokemon are going to gang up on one person. Taking turns may be a better option. If you can figure out how to handle a three-way though, be my guest wink.gif

Posted by: Wolf Heart Apr 8 2010, 10:38 PM

I am in slight disagreement with this.

Granted, under normal conditions, in a one-on-one battle, sleep powder/stun spore/etc would affect only one pokemon. However, what about combination attacks that would make it possible to knock out more than one pokemon with status ailing attacks?

Consider a sleep powder attack merged with a gust. It's entirely possible that a sleep powder attack could be spread over a series of pokemon, perhaps even sending half a team into slumber. Gust attacks have been known to send such attacks away from the target pokemon, so I don't see why it couldn't be used offensively.

As for leech seed, however, I would have to agree that it would only affect one pokemon at a time. I realize that in the games, it shows three seeds cast out which one could see being cast on three different pokemon, one seed for each of them (I think you may have misinterpreted this, 2g, or perhaps I am - the "one on one on one" bit).

However, consider that these seeds, whether they are more or less than three, are cast in such a close proximity to one another that they only have enough reach to leech from one pokemon, if you wish to have an explanation based on physics.

Posted by: Douken Sota Apr 8 2010, 10:44 PM

I can see the Stun Spore effective against both seeing how it practically becomes a mist, like when Ash evolved Butterfree... Leech Seed is still my biggest concern.

From the anime, you see Ash's Bulbasaur only able to shoot out one at a time, but this battle is Duskull VS. Togepi VS. Shroomish, and its the Shroomish trying to use it... so maybe that information may be helpful...

Posted by: Wolf Heart Apr 8 2010, 10:59 PM

I would still say that leech seed can only affect one pokemon at a time.

Posted by: 2gamers Apr 8 2010, 11:07 PM

I was assuming single attacks, rather than Team Rouge-style blitzes :P.

In the end, if you guys can come up with an agreement, knock yourselves out.

Posted by: Wolf Heart Apr 8 2010, 11:25 PM

Pokemon... is... WAR!

No, I'm kidding.

Here's the way I see it. Leech seed is an attack that affects one pokemon at a time, regardless of the size of one pokemon comparatively to another.

Sleep powder/stun spore/etc can affect multiple pokemon in certain cases, when there are circumstances which would allow such movement.

If you are not sure about a specific point, ask a mod.

But, because you said it is most important - only one pokemon can be seeded at a time by the attacking pokemon's leech seed.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Apr 9 2010, 12:12 AM

Bear in mind, Lady and Gentleman, that, in the anime, the spores and powders are able to affect multiple targets. Think of it this way: The spores and powders can be spread by the wind. The seed is a direct attack, like flicking seeds at someone. It would be possible, even in the game, to leech seed multiple opponents, but it would take time, in which the leech seeder could be attacked, logically.

Pan is getting stones from her Underground adventure. I'm sure some store must sell them. IMO It would have to be one of the main cities rather than some small town though. You still need mod permission to use them though.

I was looking at Doc's list of telepathic pokémon and his comment about babies like Togepi ("As a general rule, baby Pokemon who evolve into telepaths cannot -control their abilities- or are limited to a rudimentary form of telepathy"), which gave me an idea. Would it be possible that Malcolm's Togepi could unintentionally pass on knowledge and emotions?

It's hard to explain what I mean exactly. She's too young to control telepathy, which as well as meaning she can't mind speak could also mean that the telepathy activates and knowledge occasionally spills out (she wouldn't be able to do this deliberately and probably wouldn't know it was happening). So she can't go and have a natter with someone or transfer everything she knows to them, but Malcolm could eventually find himself with a vague idea of what Togepi's life was like before he found her but without knowing how he knows it.

Some questions about partners.

1. Are shiny Pokemon allowed in any way? As in, the partner has one but keeps it at home?

2. By pseudo-legendaries are not permitted, does that simply mean their final evolutions, or the whole line in particular? The one in particular I'm thinking of is Beldum, although this could include other relativity-weak pre-evolutions.

3. Is trading between a PC and a partner allowed?

Thanks in advance.

Posted by: 2gamers Apr 13 2010, 09:35 PM

1. Maybe. The mods will deal with shinies on a cas-by-case basis. I really don't want to see every partner have a shiny; it sort of ruins their specialness.

2. The whole line. If you want one, your main character can catch one.

3. Any trades would have to be mod approved. Either make a request in the capture request thread or send a PM to a mod wink.gif

I'm just a little curious about Fossil pokemon, even though I probably won't have Castor have one since none of them really match his gimmick.
(+10 points if you can figure it out.)

Anywaysm are fossil pokemon (let's say a Cranidos) that's just naturally breed but not resurrected from a fossil alowed for an NPC or partner or do we still need permission to use them?

All pokemon captures require a request and are accepted or denied on an individual basis. You will need to make a post in the Capture Request forum. Some fossil pokemon, however, are pseudo-legendaries, and these are not allowed.

Posted by: Lux Cruxis Apr 14 2010, 07:03 PM

Another quick partner question. Do they need a minimum of two Pokemon, or can they have just one?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Apr 14 2010, 07:19 PM

They can have one, however, it's highest level will have to be the average of your party's.

Posted by: Lux Cruxis Apr 14 2010, 07:43 PM

In the event of scrapping a current PC, may the partner become a new PC, or will they stay a partner?

Posted by: 2gamers Apr 14 2010, 07:53 PM

I'd rather you not. It'll screw up the level transfers. I haven't even begun to think about how that works, so unless a mod offers an idea, I'd say no.

Posted by: Lux Cruxis Apr 15 2010, 06:22 AM

More questions! Please don't kill me.

Should we update our Current Levels posts with our partners? Or do they get their own separate posts?

Posted by: Living Arrow Apr 15 2010, 11:50 AM

Once a partner has been approved his/her entry will be copied over into the PC's character thread. Please insert a link to this in your current levels post.

Posted by: Lux Cruxis Apr 21 2010, 07:03 PM

Once a partner has been approved, when is it acceptable to introduce them into the RP? Can we slide them in in the current RP, or should we wait until a new one?

Should we put a partner request post in for existing partners?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Apr 22 2010, 02:00 PM

To be safe, I would like to know how long the NPC has travelled with the PC before I decided. If the NPC has before been only showing up from time to time, and you want to make them part of your PC's group, then yes. If the NPC has been part of your group for a long time before this rule came into effect, then I would say no.

EDITED TO ADD: In your case, Gavannon is still new-ish, and you should do a partner request.

I want to teach Duskull Trick Room. Just curious on how the move itself would work (and how you would teach someone something so trippy =P)

Posted by: Living Arrow Apr 25 2010, 01:47 AM

As a TM move, this will require mod permission. Since the move is only learnable by heartscale or TM, I'll approve this one.

Now, for the technicalities. You have two options - roleplay a Move Tutor and his Pokemon (maybe a Porygon-Z) teaching the move to the Duskull OR find the disc of the TM and slot it into a Teachy TV at a Pokemon Center and teach it that way.

Now, it will work a a temporary effect in battle wherein the battlefield will become covered in a series of glowing lines depicting something like a chessboard. As the faster Pokemon attacks, time will slow down so that the slower Pokemon can dodge or attack first.

Fakemon are prohibited in Furoh. There are enough realemon to keep track of, and more being added by year's end.

Um...yes, you are allowed to make a RP tongue.gif.

If you want one of Castle Vonmoto proportions, we'll need specifics. Even then, events require a great deal of planning. I really don't want to be holding events all the time; it ruins the uniqueness.

Ok so just a small question about pokeballs (for how stupid that may seem, yes I have some doubts about them xD)

Throughout the series there have been two kinds of Pokeballs shown. The anime and game types and the manga type. The difference from each other is that the manga's ball has a semi-transparent top which results in seeing a miniature of the Pokemon stored in that specific ball. The Pokemon, however is still fully aware while inside the ball (except I believe that things like hunger and the likes are not applied). The balls still has its characteristics (like the Ultraballs black and yellow top and the Greatball's red side marks) but, again, semi-transparent.

For those who can't understand what I'm trying to explain I got an image from Bulbapedia:

So my doubt is what kind of Pokeballs do we use in Furoh? The game ones? The manga ones? Or both? It's really just that I'm asking. :P

Posted by: Wolf Heart Apr 27 2010, 05:05 PM

We have been working by definition of the anime primarily. These would be the pokeballs that are not transparent, and generally the pokemon are unaware of what is going on outside of the pokeball, for the most part.

Other mods can certainly add onto this is they wish.

Aah, thanks for clearing that up. I was rather unsure what kind of Pokeballs were used in Furoh. :P

Posted by: Wolf Heart Apr 27 2010, 05:29 PM

Yep. Pretty much every pokeball there is in the anima or game. Of course, you can find them listed on Bulbapedia, but you know that (I have to look, sometimes :P). Just not transparent, like the manga.

Posted by: 2gamers Apr 27 2010, 07:09 PM

Well...at some point in the RP, we (the mods) might be able to introduce "ClearBalls" specifically for this purpose.

Something to consider, wink.gif

A question about their levelling too, do their pokémon level alongside the PC's, and keep the partner's pokémon's average level the same as the PC's?

Yes. Whatever levels the PC gains, so does the partner.

Let me add in some stuff to assist with the question. We are having a battle of lv 14 Shroomish Vs. lv 12 Duskull. In our planning, Duskull just used Disable to prevent the Schroomish from using Absorb, so it started kicking rocks. My opinion in this is that since its not a move Scroomish has, it would either pass right on through or bounce of as minor hindrances.

Posted by: 2gamers May 1 2010, 12:59 PM

Shroomish isn't going to be punching anything, seeing that it has no arms :P. With no legs (just feet), its not going to be kicking rocks across the field. Even then, I don't see a "plain old kick/punch" being more effective than Normal and Fighting moves.

Stick to moves your pokemon knows.

Posted by: Douken Sota May 1 2010, 01:02 PM

I believe the reason why is since I sealed away the only offensive move he has besides Tackle, he can't really do anything except for wait on leech seed to do its damage, so he is looking for an alternative way to do some hurt.

Just to make sure, are we going with the anime for the typical size of pokémon? Take Ponyta, in the anime it's about the size of a person, but according to the game it's barely three feet tall.

Posted by: Master Houndoom May 3 2010, 08:40 AM

So far, that's been the case, though some of us have used the pokedex sizes. As far as I'm concerned, as long as it's not, say, a 50 foot pikachu or a one foot tyranitar, I'm not going to nitpick.

Posted by: Xal May 3 2010, 04:38 PM

Sorry about the constant questioning, but something else has come up that I realise I need to find out pinch.gif

Are we still going with the idea of a move can be used if it makes sense? This is what I've seen mentioned, but I've also seen one or two instances where it's been said a pokémon can't know a move because it has no way of learning it in game.
The specific pokémon I'm thinking about is Gyarados. Malcolm's Magikarp is probably going to evolve. Gyarados is, of course, a water pokémon that lives in water and learns plenty of water type moves, such as Hydro Pump. So to me, it would make sense that it could use Water Gun despite having no way of learning this in the main series. Would this be allowed?

Posted by: Master Houndoom May 3 2010, 04:51 PM

Again, I'm not going to nitpick if it happens: The original rule was to allow a pokemon to learn a move if it made sense for it to happen, and we later decided that we'd need to put restrictions on levels. It is easier to track who can learn what moves by the learnsets in Bulbapedia, but I don't have a problem with it. Might be best if you asked a mod specifically, though.

Posted by: Douken Sota May 4 2010, 10:36 AM

They get hit. They're not as maneuverable or can't attain the proper height.

Posted by: Kranic May 6 2010, 11:02 PM

Seeing as it's important in the roleplay I'm participation in, time for another question~

I'm getting pretty desperate with my shroomish's moveset, so I'm curious if I could have it learn mega drain a little early and just have it leveled up to atleast 17 by the end of the roleplay.
It wouldn't be a perfect mega drain, in fact it would be pretty clumsy and just very slightly better version of an ordinary absorb that managed to get around a disable block. (It could just be seen as disable being undone, so the characters wouldn't really notice the following roleplay.)

Posted by: Master Houndoom May 6 2010, 11:21 PM

There is a precedence for this. So I looked over it and I will approve Megadrain a little early, allowing that he is the proper level by the end of the RP.

However, I would like you to edit the post in which you catch the shroomish with a notation that you've caught him behind a tag. This provides us an easy way to look up how it was caught.

Are the characters who were at Castle Vonmoto meant to be keeping the rainbow feather a secret? I know they shouldn't be telling everyone how they got it and that Ho-Oh was in the mountains, but just how much can they reveal, if anything? Can they show it, or even say that it's from Ho-Oh?

So considering he's your NPC, would it be a breach of Lonnie's wishes for a pokémon to wear the feather as decoration, with the trainer having a suitable cover story about how they came across it should anyone ask?
Of course, at this point I think I'm just trying to avoid offending a fictional character...

As 2gamers said, you can do all of this but how the world around your character reacts has to be reasonable. Saying "I got a Ho-Oh feather!" will spark questions from anyone you tell and undoubtedly poachers, Team Deception etc would attempt to get as much info as possible. Coming up with a suitable cover story sounds like the best option but try to make sure there are no holes in it (if you want Ho-Oh to remain a secret!) wink.gif

Posted by: 2gamers May 16 2010, 06:41 PM

First, you need approval for tutor-able move.

From there, every town probably has some wierdo that can teach moves to pokemon. The game doesn't go into detail into how it works, but I could see you having some fun with this. I imagine some old dude trying to mimic the move to the pokemon. That could be an RP right there :P.

I don't know how it works in the anime, so maybe someone who watches can clarify?

In the anime, episodes:

#289: All Things Bright and Beautifly

Ash meets a boy who gets his Sentret to perform Iron Tail on rocks so that Pikachu may copy and learn it.

#366: Pokeblock, Stock and Berry
#367: Lessons in Lilycove

Ash meets an old man who gets his Pidgeotto to perform Aerial Ace so that Swellow may copy and learn it.

The thing is, the castle serves more of a vacation home than a permanent residence. Lonnie and his family don't actually live there. Not sure if they would be there. That, and it's still in ruins from the whole avalanche.

So having a move tutor type guy with a pokemon that knows a move pretty well, would be suitable enough to teach a move tutor.

But that means that I can't have a balding middle age man magically float around to teach my mareep magnet rise.

That makes me sad.

I'm curious about what Deception has done in Carello, since I'm considering using them in a roleplay (with mod permission of course.) while I won't be having Castor bust into their Headquarters or anything, about everything for continuity.

Posted by: 2gamers May 19 2010, 07:14 PM

A while back, Team Deception was looking for fossils and/or fossil pokemon. After a police sting, they ran off. Guards have since been posted around Carello to prevent another TD operation. That being said, this is Team Deception we're talking about, so if there was a reason to go back, they somehow found a way.

Perhaps you and Douken should team up for an epic Carello RP. grin.gif

Posted by: Kranic May 19 2010, 07:21 PM

Maybe~
I'm plotting some stuff right now about what I want to happen to Castor in Carello and I would really like to run my own roleplay for once~

But anything is possible.

Hello happy.gif My exams are finished, yay! Could Connie and Verity be resurrected from the dead profiles section, please? Or do we need to reapply?

ETA: My profile has updated pokemon levels etc. from before our last RP, so I could take that and add in the "all bound for Moo Moo land" score in a new post on the current levels thread, if it is ok to pick up where we left off. I'm pretty sure Lindley's is the same, I think she was keeping Verity's profile up to date.

Posted by: Master Houndoom May 28 2010, 12:25 PM

Very enthusiastically done.

*sniff*

I promised myself I wouldn't cry...

You may update them with the score for All Bound For Moo Moo Land at your leisure.

Yay! Thank you grin.gif

Your Current Levels posts have been restored. They're back on the first page of the Current Level thread wink.gif.

Hey, this may sound like a "Its your choice" kind of questions, but would Amazons have like tribal tattoos or something to specify a clan or group they came from?

Posted by: 2gamers May 30 2010, 10:54 PM

It's possible, I guess. Note that, as an all-female tribe, the Amazons may not be willing to accept a half Amazon male into a tribe. It depends on the tribe; some may be super traditional, while others are more reformed and accepting of the inevitability of assimilation.

Posted by: Douken Sota May 30 2010, 11:00 PM

Thanks. All this research is actually helping to add to my chara personal stuff. i think his mom's clan would be accepting, seeing how she got married and all that...

Posted by: Verity Lily May 31 2010, 07:32 AM

Eh, I don't see anything inevitable about assimilation in any female separatist community, especially Amazons. Are there multiple tribes, then? Because I'd struggle to see Bill (my character's mother) coming from a tribe that has boys who are over age in it, and Pokemon kiddies seem to come of age about ten. Bill does have a baby boy, but he will be lovingly sent on his journey when he's old enough and only come back home to visit.

On the other hand, letting men in might explain further why Bill left in disgust, seeing I've already established that she didn't feel the Fidonians were living up to Amazon honour and tradition.

Posted by: 2gamers May 31 2010, 07:57 AM

Yes there are multiple tribes that originally united to form Fidona. They still maintain their separate identities though.

I highly suggest you read the http://pane.wikia.com/wiki/Fidona in the Wiki, maybe http://pane.wikia.com/wiki/Maxy_Z!_of_Fidona for updated info on Fidona society. wink.gif

I haven't yet gone through the whole thread yet, so I'm not sure if someone's asked about this yet.

About fossil Pokemon - I understand we need to ask a mod's permission for catching one, but how should we catch them in the RP? Are there research labs around Furoh dedicated to reviving fossils, or do we have to travel to Kanto/Hoenn/Sinnoh to do this?

In addition to this, which fossil/pseudo-fossil Pokemon are allowed? I know some are way too overpowered, but Lux mentioned that someone here has a Cranidos.

Thanks for helping me out. Lux likes to explain things, but he's not very good with minute details like this.

Posted by: 2gamers May 31 2010, 08:37 PM

The way I understand it, fossils can be revived only in Daioh. Being the technology center of Furoh, the revival machines exist only there.

You can find whatever fossil you want.

Awesome, thank you. All I recalled was up to the deal-making between Ruby and the mainland. This is all very helpful for Verity's backstory, she's going to be completely horrified when she eventually reaches her mother's homeland. happy.gif)))) No wonder the poor woman left!

What's the stance on cloned Pokemon owned by an antagonist? If they're willing to go as far as Shadow Pokemon, it could be likely that they'd start a cloning process as well.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jun 3 2010, 04:10 PM

So far, in the anime, the only "successfully" cloned pokemon, by humans, is Mewtwo, via a long, arduous process that failed many times. The other clones were done by Mewtwo himself, who presumably destroyed th epokemon but not the clones. I am inclined to believe that humans have not yet perfected cloning of pokemon any more than we have perfected the cloning of animals.

Alright. Thank you.

In addition, what kinds of foods are available to Trainers on the go? Off-brand Bagel Bites? Instant pancake mix?
I'd assume they wouldn't sell Pokemon-made foods. Along with this, would small, collapsible cooking utensils be sold?

Posted by: 2gamers Jun 3 2010, 05:34 PM

Gee, we're not that restrictive >_>. Have whatever food you want. If it's plausible for your character to have it in the real world, knock yourself out.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jun 3 2010, 05:43 PM

As a suggestion, my character, Tuesday, carries around granola bars at almost all times, and always has a frying pan with her. grin.gif

Posted by: Kranic Jun 3 2010, 07:49 PM

Just for the sake of possible character's background, how long ago would the Lenoila to Gigarte migration have been.
I would like it to be involved in said character's history and probably be one of his main motives for taking the path he decides to take.
(Yay vagueness.)

Posted by: 2gamers Jun 3 2010, 09:23 PM

According to the wiki, it was twenty years ago.

Posted by: Stasis Key Jun 4 2010, 08:27 PM

If our character is new to Furoh, where would be an appropriate location to start? I assume that very far inland wouldn't make much sense if they came by boat.

Posted by: 2gamers Jun 4 2010, 08:48 PM

The usual starting place tends to be Port Barley, though Fidona is also a good choice.

Really though, if you can explain how your character came inland, you could start there as well.

Just a question about swapping levels from characters.

Lets imagine someone earned 9 RP points but wants a new character. The new character has:

Pokemon A Lv 10
Pokemon B Lv 10

They decide to use the points on Pokemon A, so it ends up something like this:

Pokemon A Lv 19
Pokemon B Lv 10

Can this be done? I mean, breaking the 20 limit by using the old char's levels?

And now that out of the list, could someone mind moving http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=15236 to the Dead Profiles section? Going to do a new character because Andrew just seems like an empty shell now, at least to me.

Posted by: Xal Jun 9 2010, 07:11 AM

According to http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=16823, you can add half the levels gained by your old character to your new character (so if your character earned 8, you'd be able to pass on 4 to your new one. It rounds down if you can't halve it to get a whole number, so if you gained 9 like in the example you'd also pass on 4).
I think that's how it works, anyway. I might be misunderstanding it or it might have changed since then.
