Do you believe that there's a possibility of there being Parallel universes?
Do you think that every single decision made by every living thing sprouts a new universe because of the repercussions?
Do you think it is absolutely necessary to have evidence to prove something or that it can just be some instinctual feeling in your gut?
Many minds raise these questions daily. I just want to know how others see it.
What theories do you have to share?

Please give more than a yes or no response, give reason to why you believe what you believe.

Also, please don't become insulting when ideas are shared. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

it's just not possable to say that there aren't.
according to a universal law, if something is truly infinate, there is no one unique occurence. even a 1/99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

chance is still comon compared to infinity, because infinity goes on forever.

with this knowledge, there is no way our universe, whatever compeled the events of it's origin, is only one of many. if we're allowed to count preveous versions of this universe, that makes it proven that there were other universes. According to some ruminations of the big bang theory, it was supposadly a black hole that exploded. if all of the matter in the universe was swallowed into a black hole, wold easily create another universe. it would take a few hundred trillion years (again with the infinity thing), but it would happen. so our universe could have reincarnated seventeen million times without us knowing. so even if there is no universe other than us at a spatial range, there's always the possability of others at a temporal range.

i mean idc if there are parallel universes. every decision doesn't sprout a parallel universe; every simultaneous infinitesimal movement of every elementary particle and below is what sprouts these parallel universes.

Maybe there are parallel universes in this world.For example, the Bermuda Triangle.People, ships and even airplanes disappear into its depths.Also, Black holes, Worm holes and white holes could be a few examples of portals to another world.

I think they exist. They're theoretically possible unlike many other quantum events (or rather, I guess I should say they're more probable). The idea's really cool, too.

Regarding the Bermuda Triangle, that's a myth. Airplanes and ships disappeared there due to the large number of hurricanes that go through the area as well as other natural factors. It's not even considered one of the most dangerous transport routes.

Yes, I think they could be possible. As a young child I always wondered "Is there a place where everything is the opposite?".

For example, if someone is the nicest person ever, is there a world where they're the meanest of the mean?

What "quantum events" are you talking about?

Did you know that the Earth has oceans and the oceans run deep? It blew my mind when I found out. There's a pretty damn good reason we don't find anything that falls into the Bermuda Triangle - because no one is willing to go to the Bermuda Triangle to find what we've lost.

Black holes are just areas of massive gravity, and it's basically known as an "event horizon." Nobody has mathematically proven that a Black Hole will lead you to another universe, on top of the fact that it's likely just a clump of shit that nothing can escape from and once you're in there, you're apart of a huge lump of gravity.

Anyways, if you want empirical proof of this being any bit of remotely true - I need to find the article again but there was some weird blackbody radiation and Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR) stuff (after factoring out noise). For the record, CMBR was what provided us empirical evidence of the big bang, so there is some credence to the theory. It's a matter of sorting out what that extra radiation is, so I have no clue.

Things like Boltzmann brains, for instance -- ideas that have been hypothesized but are so far from being remotely possible that they're negligible now. The difference is that many physicists take parallel universes seriously, whereas ideas like the Boltzmann brain aren't anymore because it's based on flawed logic in the first place (though the idea's founder wasn't aware of this at the time, of course).

At least multiple universes are considered a possibility at this point and could be used to explain various things.

I agree with Lord Raven (Whom I see also likes Fire Emblem~). Every single action/movement taken creates another parallel universe. Have any of you Seen an anime called Noein: To Your Other Self? The whole series dabbles into parallel universes. Actually, "dabbles" is an understatement. The whole anime revolves around the theories behind parallel universes XD

Boltzmann Brains were stricken down as a hypothesis because it doesn't follow the laws of physics. It wasn't predicted by anything, just a thought experiment that people thought could be true from an interpretation of the laws of physics. I think it was in the 70s when Feynman and others came up with thought experiments and arguments that prevented it from becoming big; something to do with an infinite amount of chaos causing the universe to reach effectively a "maximum entropy." Which, as we all know, is not possible.

At any rate, a lot of the parallel universe-type people also believe pretty strongly in string theory and in fact use that to back it up. At any rate, I'm not sure if it's just the university I go to but the two quantum classes I've taken tend to bring up this whole "quantum probabilities/events lead to some crazy multiple universes theories" in a very tongue-in-cheek fashion. I don't think as many physicists take it as seriously as you think. You may hear about more of them than you think on account of the fact that it's something cool, science fiction-like, and whatnot that can hold a reader's attention very easily.

Still looking for that article. If it exists as proof or not, it's really just a tiny amount of proof short of actually somehow visiting another universe that there are multiple universes. The theory goes like a jillion different ways anyway, ranging from the whole "every decision you make branches off to a new universe" to "anything that could've mathematically occurred is a universe right now."

... yeah, my point was that parallel universes ARE theoretically possible, and yes, they are taken seriously (unlike Boltzmann Brains, which presented the idea that our being here is an almost mathematically impossible result of some random fluctuation instead of evolution). Other theories were also considered crazy at first. At least multiple universes can actually be tested to some degree.

I'm more about the idea that there are other universes not necessarily like ours out there, not so much that everything we do branches out. Though that's cool, too.

Because the universe is infinitely big I think you can statistically assume that everything you can think of exists inside it.
The universe is so interesting and there's so little we know, I wonder what the next big thing humanity will discover will be

oof i was confused briefly, but the observable universe is the thing that's not infinite (it's like 50 billion light years in size or something), the actual universe is theorized to be 250 times bigger, which is ~1.18*10^29 meters.

Just because 10^99 is huge doesn't mean it's negligible. Negligibility is contextual depending on what you're using the number for. Trying to measure your waist size? You don't need the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, but if you're measuring an emission spectrum of a hydrogen gas it can be useful.
