Saving a new file on Diamond? |

Ok, so i want to save over my old file in diamond, but i already started the new game. Ive been trying at it reaaaaaaallllly hard so that i can get the best pokemon, but the problem is that i did it without deleting the save file first, and i dont want to have to start over again. Ive tried saving during the new game but it doesnt give me the option to save over the old one. Can i do anything

Sadly, you can't do anything. At the start screen, there's a bunch of buttons you have to press to delete the save, but there's nothing you can do if you're playing a game and haven't done that. ):
