We're pleased to bring back the Hanukkah Event that we've only held once before back in 2012!

To coincide with the event, as before, we will be running the Scavenger Hunt from the 7th (starting tonight at reset) thru the 25th instead of the normal dates.

The Hanukkah event
To honor the lighting of the candles, you will earn 1 coin for every Fire-type you hatch. You will also earn 20 coins when you complete the daily Scavenger task. These coins are completely separate from all other currencies on the site.

You may use these coins to Spin the Dreidel, which has 4 sides to it. Depending on the side that it lands on, the following will happen: you will lose the coins you played, you will double the coins you played, you will lose half the coins you played, or you will simply get back what you put in and be able to spin again without waiting.

You can only spin it once every 15 minutes (unless it lands on Shin). You can only play with the coins you've earned during the current day, rather than your full total.

We are reusing the old stats: coins (total, throughout all the days -- this has been reset to 0 for everyone), coins today (the net amount you've earned today), and a stat for the most amount you earned in a day (this will still contain your 2012 results unless you beat your old record). Losing coins to the dreidel affects both your total coins and coins today stats.

The amount of coins you earn throughout the entire 8 days of Hanukkah will directly affect the prize(s) you receive when the event ends, which will be on Monday the 14th (at 11:55pm EST, site reset). Technically 8.5 days since the event starts right now!


Some notes:

• The Scavenger Hunt will start tonight (Sunday the 6th) at reset. It will last thru Christmas Day (the 25th), and end at reset.
• Prize information relating to the Coins will be announced later.
• The Lab will produce extra Fire-types during the Hanukkah event, the same as it does for SWSH Pokémon.
• For every Fire-type egg you hatch (does not matter if it's the primary or secondary type), you will earn 1 coin.
• For every Scavenger Hunt task you complete, you will earn 20 coins.
• If you participated in this event in 2012, your historical dreidel spins will still show up on the Spin the Dreidel page -- this is simply an archive and has no bearing on the current 2015 event.

I hope everyone who celebrates it had a wonderful Hanukkah!

Tonight, at reset, our Hanukkah event ends. What this means is hatching Fire-types will no longer give you coins and the Dreidel will be deactivated. However, completing Scavenger Hunt tasks will continue to net you 20 coins.

The prize idea we have planned is not quite ready, which is why I'm going to allow you to keep earning coins throughout the Scavenger Hunt. I promise you that the prizes will be ready within a week or two, by Christmas at the latest, but hopefully earlier (possibly even this weekend).

I know it's completely unlike us to delay a prize (cough), but December is a busy month and I'm only able to work on this during my free time! The same goes for the contributors that helped me with the first part of my idea.

I will tell you this: the number of coins you've earned will determine how many prizes you receive, rather than trying to unlock one big top prize. So continue to earn your 20 coins a day by participating in the Scavenger Hunt, and enjoy the rest of your Holiday season! We may have one or two other things for you later in the month, unrelated to this Hanukkah/Coin event.

Has it ever been said if there is another way to receive the special evolution dreidel item? I got one from forever ago when they first did the Dreidel event but have never seen them since and wondered if I just missed out on hearing that there was another way (like if you hatch enough porygons, you'll get a potato battery, etc...)

You can wait for someone to fill the Prize+. It gives access to time-limited event items in the Prize Shop.
