PANE Party

Fishy didn't seem particularly comfortable swimming with a crowd of people on his back, and his movement was impeded by his efforts to not throw them all into the water whilst at the same time escape from the cave. It was less than a minute before they reached open water though, and Malcolm smiled as the sunlight hit his face. For a moment in there it seemed as if they weren't going to get out at all, and if it hadn't been for Magikarp's stroke of luck at the end things could have turned out very differently. Charmander didn't seem happy about riding on Gyarados in the sea, so Malcolm let him inside a pokéball. He was aware that Charmander was technically Govannon's, but Charmander had clearly chosen Malcolm and Govannon didn't seem too bothered. Truth be told, he wasn't at all happy with Govannon's capture of the Ponyta either. They were trying to escape from a group of aggressive pokémon, capturing one in such an opportunist way didn't impress him much.
Before long Gyarados had reached the dock, catching a few odd looks from the few people hanging outside the pokémon center. Everyone climbed off, and Malcolm swiftly headed for the pokémon centre. His pokémon had taken quite a beating, they needed attention quickly. He recalled all of those left out, including Fishy (who had most likely taken damage as a Magikarp which would still need treating), and walked in. Govannon wasn't far behind.

"Hi..." Malcolm started, unsure how to explain the situation. "I'm not sure if you know that there's a cave full of psychotic pokémon, but there is. We've been attacked, can you help our pokémon please?" Malcolm said, with Govannon nodding in agreement. The pair of them handed over their pokéballs, and Malcolm suddenly remembered something he should probably point out.

"Oh, and that one's a Gyarados." He said, pointing to Fishy's pokéball. Nurse Joy swiftly left the room with the pokémon. Clearly the humble pokémon center was well prepared for treating giant monsters which needed to stay in water. Malcolm and Govannon took their seats and waited silently.

"Your pokémon are fully healed." Nurse Joy said to Malcolm after a short while.

"Oh, thank you." He smiled, taking the pokéballs back and clipping them to his belt.

"We hope to see you again soon!"

Malcolm wasn't sure what she meant by that, but he certainly wasn't planning on getting into trouble on this island in the middle of nowhere again soon. Perhaps it was just something all Nurse Joys were meant to say, kind of like how they were all meant to look and act the same, as well as have the same name. The police had a similar system, he'd noticed.

"I'll be going now then." Malcolm said, turning to Govannon.

"What? Where?" He asked, puzzled. "The captain's still not happy to sail through that storm."

"I know, but Fishy will be able to take me."

"Malcolm, that's really not a good idea..." Govannon said, the uneasiness in his voice clear for all to hear.

"I'll be fine. I'll probably see you again at some point. Goodbye, Govannon." Malcolm said, nodding and walking out of the center.
Once outside, he released Fishy from the pokéball. He looked up at the Gyarados, and pointed in the direction of the mainland. He remembered the way they'd come, and Furoh was too big a place to miss. In actuality Malcolm was just excited to have a pokémon that he could ride on the back of and take him wherever he wanted to go, as long as he left from a shoreside and ended up on another one anyway. That was always how it worked in those RPG games he'd secretly played when he was younger, and it was almost a rite of passage. It was that easy in the games, so it must be in real life, right? He and Pidgey had found out it wasn't that simple for flying, but surely a Gyarados would be much more capable.
Fishy looked just as dubious as Govannon had, but still (albeit reluctantly) followed his master's command.

The next day, Malcolm woke up a room he didn't recognise, though it appeared to be a hospital.

"Relax." Someone who looked like a doctor walked over. "You were knocked off your Gyarados during the storm. If your friend on the island hadn't called for help the moment you left you might not have been found so easily. Trying to travel hundreds of miles on the back of an inexperienced pokémon really isn't too smart, you know. It's not like you can just find a water type, get on its back and ride off wherever you like."
