Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ PANE RP School _ Hello?

Posted by: qgag Feb 22 2011, 01:16 PM

I'd love to participate in whatever you have in the RPs, I just don't know anything about them, cuz this would be my first time roleplaying, so... is there space left? or any RPs, for that matter?

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 22 2011, 01:50 PM

PANE here is considered a Massive RP for the GTS+ Forum, as we are not everything on one section, but have a section devoted to us. If you wish to join, please head on over and fill out a Character Application sheet and read the RP rules (All of which can be found in the Rules and Information section). Any number of people are welcome and if you do join, let me be the first to tell you, "Welcome aboard!"

If you have any questions about the PANE region, feel free to ask. We members of PANE will be glad to assist those in whatever way we can.

As for the RPing itself, our world is broken into different threads made for the location and events going on at the current moment, so you my have one thread over at the mountain base, yet another in a city doing a gym battle.

ok thx... sounds like a bit much though... walloftext.gif

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 22 2011, 02:18 PM

Why does it sound like much? This is nothing compared to some other paces I have seen (which are full forums devoted to the roleplay of topic)

Posted by: qgag Feb 22 2011, 02:22 PM

because I think I saw the Post with all the rules in them and THAT seems like much

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 22 2011, 02:26 PM

Well, every roleplay has a set of generic rules, such as No Godmodding (being unbeatable, beating everyone with ease, etc), no powerplaying (controlling others, making sure your hits go through, dodge all of their hits, etc), as well as how the system works. Some places also slip in a password to ensure you read and understood the rules as well. We want people to understand what we have going on here.

Posted by: Tekno Feb 22 2011, 02:26 PM

It's not that bad, I assure you. I know how you feel, really. It happened to me too when I first posted a profile. I was pretty nervous to say the least but it's a pretty laid back place. (:

Also, http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showforum=104 you'll find out about the various aspects of PANE like the region map (this is all happening in Furoh, a fan-made region, if haven't noticed yet), the starter list, the Profile template (complete with helpful tips from 2gamers!) and a lot more.

I hope you join us and that you have a great time here. (:

Posted by: qgag Feb 22 2011, 02:27 PM

ok I can dig that! I'll begin working on my character sheet!

Posted by: qgag Feb 22 2011, 03:59 PM

oh, and can you start with 2 pokémons? like, one starter, and one wild pokémon who you befriended?

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 22 2011, 04:01 PM

You can start with two to four Pokemon, already in your possession, from the list of starters we offer. Max level they can be is 10, and the total level of all of them must equal up to 20 (but why would anyone go lower?).

Posted by: qgag Feb 22 2011, 04:06 PM

to be feel like a fresh start I guess...

I actually went lower. awesome.gif

Anyway, yep, these two have summed up PANE rather nicely. It's really helpful when you're doing character sheets to look at other character sheets too, like any of Ganymede's or Tymid's. They're really nice, and whilst they're long, yours doesn't necessarily have to be that long. The PANE mod/s is/are (do i pluralise these verbs yet :c come on bog!) looking for length and quality. Quality is valued a lot more over quantity, though they do go hand in hand most of the time.

Posted by: qgag Feb 22 2011, 04:13 PM

is it bad if I say I caught a pokemon on so route but there is no way to catch a pokemon there in the games?

Posted by: Tekno Feb 22 2011, 04:14 PM

Well, I went both lower and higher. that's what he said derp

Back when PANE had a cap level of 15 and now with the levels from my first profile... I still think that my characters are a mess, though. Hopefully my second one will fix that since he actually has goals and a decent backstory.

So yeah, don't worry if things go a little slow this week, that's due to the fact that PANE is operating with only one mod for now and he's been a little busy with real life. Hopefully the staff will be completed by the end of the week.

||Edit; Nah, it's fine. As long as it makes sense for it to be there it can be caught. Don't expect Piplups on volcanoes, though. :P

We don't go by "So and so is found on Route What and What," but more on the level of what would make sense for a habitat. Like Tekno said, Piplup won't like in Volcanoes, and you won't see Charmander surfing the waves.

Also, we are in a region outside of the games, so I would guess you will be planning on bringing your person from another region. Just remember this is a fake region we all made.

And on note of games, you are NOT limited to four moves a Pokemon...

Posted by: Tekno Feb 22 2011, 04:35 PM

And we also don't use stats, etc around here. Abilities are fine (they ARE part of the Pokemon, after all) and useful for some scenes so those are fine. Just keep in mind that Natures are exactly what they are: natures and don't affect stats in any way.

Basically? We're going by anime standards in terms of battling/handling Pokemon so don't be afraid to kick in some combo moves like Gust + Stun Spore, etc.

Posted by: qgag Feb 22 2011, 05:45 PM

Sorry I just wanted to know what you thought of it

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 22 2011, 05:57 PM

We are not mods and this is not the place to put them. When the new mods are elected and Bog gets on, they will look it over and see if it is acceptable or not and tell you what's wrong, so you may want to edit that post and remove it...

Mind you, the answers to almost all of your questions can be found in the "Rules and Information" section. I strongly suggest reading each of those topics. More questions will be answered here in the RP School section, but try reading the topics like "What we've learned from Questions as they Come". I guarantee you that many of your questions have already been answered there.

Posted by: Tymid Feb 22 2011, 06:36 PM

If I might make a suggestion, if you're new to RPing as a whole, you might want to check out the General RP board. There are far less rules involved, and it's a good opportunity for you to see different kinds of RPs, as well as gain a bit more knowledge on RPing. happy.gif That forum is located in the same section as the Sprites, Arts, and Graphics section, at the very bottom.

Also, the section that Kamaitachi referenced, the Rules and Information part, has a wealth of knowledge about PANE that I think you would find extremely useful. Then, if you still have questions, we'll be happy to answer them. happy.gif

oooooh.... sorry

Posted by: Kamaitachi Feb 22 2011, 09:28 PM

No need to apologize, I'm merely pointing you in a helpful direction.

Posted by: qgag Feb 23 2011, 07:44 AM

ok thx

Posted by: qgag Feb 25 2011, 06:53 PM

is it me or is the mod not there? it's been awhile since I posted my character &... no response....

I don't want to sound pushy, im just concerned

Posted by: Cavalcade Feb 25 2011, 06:58 PM

Bogart's been busy. Wymsy is taking care of it soon.

Posted by: qgag Feb 25 2011, 08:39 PM

ok just wanted to know

Posted by: qgag Feb 25 2011, 09:01 PM

hey can another of characters be like an evil character? like he is still a mystery & we don't know his identity and his biography & personality are a mystery? would that be accepted?

Posted by: Cavalcade Feb 25 2011, 09:05 PM

Please stop double posting. Since these forums have their own mods I don't think reporting you would get to any other mods. But double posting is bad and annoying so please stop.

And no that probably wouldn't be accepted.

Posted by: qgag Feb 25 2011, 09:08 PM

oh ok sorry about the double posting

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 25 2011, 09:51 PM

Well, another thing to note is that if you want to make a second character, you need to get two Roleplays with decent enough scores as well as show specific differences between the two. Both characters cannot meet.

Posted by: qgag Feb 25 2011, 10:40 PM

so I couldn't do like a link in the story line of each character?

Posted by: Ganymede Feb 25 2011, 10:50 PM

Nope. The two characters cannot meet, although they may hear something about the other's adventures around Furoh.

Posted by: Cavalcade Feb 25 2011, 11:08 PM

However, if you do decide to do the second character, the type you are describing wouldn't be accepted. People are let into the rp based on their profiles, so having a profile essentially blank and calling it 'mysterious' would not be a way to get accepted.

If you mean an additional character, no. However, if you desire an NPC, that's a different story:

QUOTE
NPCs: Temporary filler characters used to advance the plot of a particular RP. This can be as simple as a cashier working in a pokemart or a family member making an impromptu phone call. Other times, it can be a minor villain acting as the main antagonist in an RP. Usually, these NPCs are around for one RP, but they can reappear in another later RP. Unless otherwise noted, you shouldn't need permission to create an NPC.

In any case, it's best to PM a mod.

Where exactly did you post the character profile?

Pending profiles are hidden from regular members. Only mods can see them. There could be ten profiles waiting for approval and you wouldn't know it. With spring break on the way, that is a definite possibility.

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 26 2011, 11:21 AM

Well, with you talking about NPCs, I also remembered about Partners, but even then you need to make a Partner Profile for them.

In any case, we still have Team Deception and Disciples of Darkrai for evil teams at the current moment.

I posted it in the profile thing but not in the accepted profile nor the dead profile thing, but just in the main profile thing & as 2gamers said, it is not showing so I'm assuming it's still pending.

Edit: And for the NPC creation, I don't understand the whole concept. I like the whole "Minor Villain" idea but I don't understand how I could use it.

Edit (again): And what I don't like about the whole "you can't see pending profiles" is that I want to put a few changes in my characters profile but I can't. sad.gif

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 26 2011, 01:36 PM

If you want to use him for a plot idea for a thread, I am sure that is alright, but if he pops up constantly, then he may no longer be considered a minor character...

oh ok, I understand.

Edit: I want to learn more about those "Team Deception" and "Disciple of Darkrai"! Do you have any links?

Posted by: Tekno Feb 26 2011, 03:45 PM

http://pane.wikia.com/wiki/Team_Deception
http://pane.wikia.com/wiki/Darkrai's_Disciples

Both links lead to the wiki which is a pretty good place to gather info from too.

Posted by: qgag Feb 26 2011, 04:20 PM

Wow! I just got back from reading the Wikis, and they both sound awesome! but I've got one question: they say that team deception is the main villain in PANE... are they connected? Like, if a character from team deception meets a character from PANE in the Team deception forum, is the same post gonna appear on the PANE forum?

Uh? Team Deception is just a what they are. A team. They're not a RP. Are you sure you're not mistaking it for Uprising? Because that one happens in a totally different place and has a different main plot. If so, Uprising is in no way connected to PANE because, as far as we know, they might not even be happening at the same time.

Team Deception is a NPC evil organization. Like how Kanto has Team Rocket and Sinnoh has Team Galactic, Furoh has Team Deception and the Darkrai's Disciples.

Posted by: qgag Feb 26 2011, 04:30 PM

really? because by reading the Wiki, it doesn't seem that way!

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 26 2011, 04:37 PM

Team Deception IS PANE's Team organization threat... Darkrai's Disciples are cultists looking to switch the rule from Arceus to Darkrai, and pretty much anarchy. Main difference: Deception is secretive, yet Disciples are out in the open.

We do have some people who registered their characters as Team Deception members.

Posted by: Tekno Feb 26 2011, 04:37 PM

What makes you say that? The history? That's just the team's backstory. It essentially explains how it was founded and why.

The wiki article is just a detailed description about who they are, what do they do and why they do it, basically. Same applies to the Darkrai Disciples.

Maybe http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=17230 will help you out a bit.

Edit; Actually, we only have Justin, iirc, and it's still a trial to see if things go well.

Posted by: qgag Feb 26 2011, 04:45 PM

ah well they're not real, too bad! But is there any evil RPs?

Edit: And if there aren't, would anyone want to help me create one?

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 26 2011, 04:46 PM

Define "evil RPs"

Posted by: qgag Feb 26 2011, 04:53 PM

Anti-Heroic RPs, where people would commit crimes, create mayhem, and would have a deep background story to why they do all these crimes. Maybe it would be so that people could get revenge, or to take back a land they think is rightfully theirs.

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 26 2011, 04:55 PM

Yeah, from petty hostage crimes of NPCs, or our Deception member trying to raise in the ranks. You also have the lower ranks on other petty missions as well.

Posted by: Tekno Feb 26 2011, 04:58 PM

Well, maybe Uprising would be more fitting then? It's right under the PANE section and it has a darker plot, if I'm allowed to say it that way. PANE is more like a generic journey massive roleplay.

Also, PANE and Uprising aren't based on one RP solely. Your character will have to go through various events of your choice throughout various RPs. If you want a single, with a more explicit plot you might be better looking on the general roleplaying section.
