Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ Pokémon Animé _ Jumping the Shark

When did you think the anime jumped the shark? For me, it was when they got rid of Misty, then when they added Max, then Team Rocket changing their motto, and most especially the inclusion of Dawns Piplup, what's your opinion on how it jumped the shark?

It ended for me when I realized they were starting to repaet episodes, just with different pokemon and slightly diffeerent situations.Compare the pokemon episode"Stopped in the Name of Love to one of the first season episodes, "Bulbasuar's Mysterious Garden." If not completely the same thing, they were very simmilar. That, and Dawn's voice kept getting on my nerves. Find new VAs, America!

When Brock left and was replaced by Tracy. I got over it though and continued with it until Team Rocket got rid of their Arbok and Weezing. That was the final straw ;~;

When they got rid of May. Dawn and Iris (IMO) are/were terrible...

When the voice actors changed, of course. Middle of the Hoenn, when they were exploring the haunted mining, every single one of the voice actors were replaced and that was very disappointing.
But it started to be very retarted when Ash entered Sinnoh.

Never. The anime has always been good to me.

Probably when I saw the Darkrai movie. Surely I'm not the only one who heard Boga in Palkia's roar and King Ghidorah in Dialga's? And, oh boy, when I heard Mothra's cry coming from Giratina's mouth, I laughed my head off! Now, we go back to the trend again with Zekrom sounding like Megaguirus.... facepalm.gif

It have to say it went south for me when they just started the new season and Ash is still 10 years old. I mean, REALLY? How has it not been a few years?

I also thought it was a bit odd when Ash started introducing Pikachu as his "partner", I just kept thinking "I don't think Prof. Oak meant for you to be doing ~those~ kinds of things with Pikachu" XD I'm a dirty old man on the inside.

As soon as Ash left Jhoto

Misty was awesome, and so was Brock!

When you take out Misty, Brock is less funny, When you add Crogunk Brock is even less funny

I actually still like the anime. I don't know how anyone actually finds it bad at all. It's the only thing I actually look forward to watching every morning! And why all the hate for Dawn?! I like Dawn, actually. She's better than Misty. Yes I went there.
But if they ever got rid of Team of Team Rocket. It's the end of Pokemon.

TEAM ROCKET ARE COOLFACES!

You can't have Pokemon anime without Jesse and James! It's like... cheese without pickle! Chips without mayo! noes.gif

When Brock left. I eventually got over it, but I still kinda miss him.

When Ash apparently had eye surgery.

I felt exactly the same way which is partly the reason i stopped watching during the Hoenn series.

I lost interest in the first Sinnoh season. The fact that they changed the VAs was enough for me to give up watching the show.

For me, it was when the Orange League started but I do love some of their storylines afterwards such as Paul's Chimchar and a couple of the Chronicles episodes, among others.

I've watch most of the episodes up until the start of Black and White. (Haven't had time to start watching) Though I hated the middle of Johto, mainly because there was just to many fillers in between gym badges and it started to get really irritating. However I really started enjoying Pokemon again when Paul was Ash's main rival. That was when the show started getting good again, and for once the creators actually created a rival who actually used strategy in battles and was better than Ash in that department.

I'm actually looking forward to watching Black and White. I heard there's hardly any fillers and is similar to the first season of Pokemon.

Okay, back to the question. Pokemon started to jump the shark for me during the Johto seasons.

Pokemon was good for me until the end of Hoenn. :T Then I was just like "NO ):"

Posted by: Cuvier Safiro Apr 20 2012, 10:05 PM

Well, I stopped watching sometime during Sinnoh... but looking back, I honestly don't think the anime has gotten any better or worse over the years. The older episodes had better funny moments in my opinion, but other than that, it's been pretty sub-par since the beginning.

Posted by: Shelldude400 Apr 30 2012, 02:22 AM

I got really annoyed when Piplup wouldn't evolve...
I still watch the anime, but yea...
