Click for Serebii.net Pokedex page Type: Fire Trait: Flash Fire: Prevents Flareon from being attacked by Fire type moves, and also boosts the Fire type moves Strengths and Weaknesses Fire: Immunity Water: 200% Damage Grass: 50% Damage Ice: 50% Damage Ground: 200% Damage Bug: 50% Damage Rock: 200% Damage Steel: 50% Damage Stats: 65HP/ 130Attack/ 60Defense/ 95Sp.Attack/ 110Sp.Defense/ 65Speed Presumed Tier: Under Used Moveset 1: Yawn Flareon @ Leftovers Nature: Adamant Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 4HP/ 252Attack/ 252 Speed - Fire Fang - Yawn - Protect - Return The addition of Yawn to Flareon's movepool helped it out a bit more. Fire Fang for STAB, and a possible Flash Fire boost if you're good at predicting. Now feel free to utilize Yawn; Use it, Protect, there you go. Yawn also tends to cause switches, so if you're willing to take the risk, feel free to use it once again. Yawn gives Flareon some defense, and can be surprising to the opponent. If you have a TrapPasser or WishPasser, this set could work a little better. Moveset 2: Special Sweeper Flareon @ Leftovers Nature: Modest Trait: Flash Fire EV's: 4HP/ 252Sp.Attack/ 252 Speed - Flamethrower - Shadow Ball - Fake Tears - Will -o- Wisp This set takes advantage of Flareon's good Special Attack stat. Will -o- Wisp to weaken Physical attackers, then Fake Tears to soften the enemy up. Other Options: Bite, because..it's there. This set isn't a mixed attacking set, but you could easily just reverse the nature, remove that 252 EV's from attack and add it to Sp. Attack, and give it Flamethrower and Shadow Ball. Wish is also another viable option, and can be used in conjunction with Protect, if you want it to last longer. EVs: Pretty straightforward; boost up that bad speed, and you'll get a jump on the slower competition. Max Attack/Sp. attack to maximize potential. Counters: Milotic and Suicune'll give it a large run for it's money. Lots of pokemon do, really. fire isn't the best defensive typing, after all. Opinion: Poor Flareon. Every generation, his movepool's been shafted, while his brethren have been just getting better. He has a good arrangement in terms of stats, but with such a small movepool, he can't take advantage of them. Still very workable, but it'll be hard to work in any sort of suprise factor when using him. -------------------- |

Flareon sucks, hate to say it. Movesets are pretty icky, with it's crap movepool. Has a huge attack and Sp. Def base if I remember correctly.
Flareon @ Leftovers EVs: (To be done later) Flamethrower Shadow Ball Return *Filler, maybe Flail?* I forget the movepool it has, but that's part of the standard set. |

Pretty good. Mixed is standard, so put that as one of the movesets. Also include Wish and other useful moves in the other options.
For anyone who is posting an analysis, please go to www.smogon.com, visit the forums, and go to the DP Analysis section. If your pokemon has been done there, read it. It should help immensly. -------------------- |

Fixed what you said~ I might get around to a mixed attacker set eventually.

252/252/6 EV spreads aren't even that good, and they don't quite cover the whole thing. Flareon's Speed is crap to start things off, so 252 Speed isn't really helping it. I reckon 252/252/6 could work with the Special sweeper, but not quite :S
There are times when 252/252/6 work well - like on most sweepers (Lucario, Weavile, Yanmega, Palkia). But that's honestly the only instance where they'd be the best option - everything else needs a complicated spread :S The fact that there's very little to work with when you're dealing with Flareon - and how poorly the stats are spread out - shows why it's NU and why it's hard to make a workable set on it. Curse/Return/Fire Fang/Quick Attack or Filler move works on Flareon considering how it already has low speed, despite the bad movepool and the EVs should be like 128 HP / 252 Atk / 28 Def / 76 SDef on an Impish nature :s For your special sweeper (arguably the best choice it has now...) you want 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 6 Def or something of that nature; HP goes farther than Defense (1 HP = one per Defense, essentially) and the 6 Defense is just filler. For the first... I don't entirely get the gist of the set. It's pretty iffy too.. -------------------- |
