I know theresa topic abotu this, but it's more discussion than a search party for evidence. I have gathered up evidence myself.
Notice how when they come out with a new hand held console there are usually newgeneration games following that? The Dsi just came out. Am I serioously the only one that noticed they showed us Munchlax 2-3 years earlier? Or Mime Jr and Bonsly were in emerald? Post evidence you have here. -------------------- |

Pokčmon is still popular.
Yes for me that's evidence enough. They will continue making games as long as they make money of it. Bonlsy and Mime Jr were in Emerald? Where? (I never had that game so... I had Sapphire) This post has been edited by Usagi Zakura: Aug 1 2009, 12:48 PM -------------------- Uxie Anitarig Daisuke Weasley Sceptile Rika |

Notice how when they come out with a new hand held console there are usually newgeneration games following that? The Dsi just came out. I'm going to disagree with you on this point. There were three incarnations of the GameBoy Advance (original, SP, and Micro), yet only one generation for the GBA series. (FR/LG and R/S/E) There are now three incarnations of the DS (Phat, DSL, DSi), yet still, only one generation, encompassing D/P/Pt and HG/SS. There may well be a Generation 5, but going by handheld console evolution proves nothing. -------------------- |

well it will be fun to have a 5th generation....and yeah, they showed us mime jr., bonsly and munchlax before 4th generation even started....and i would love to have a 5th generation and new pokemons....but i hope, if they make it, that they make a little bit more of grass and electric pokemons, cause there is very small number of them...
and no, 493 pokemon isn't too much....at least for me... -------------------- |

A 5th Generation would be nice.
But when you play, how will you choose 6 pokémon out of 493+ pokémon?! They're bound to be awesome and too hard to choose from. Although it would be cool to have 3 types and more evolutions. -------------------- |

I'm sure that there will be a fifth generation and I would be disappointed if there wasn't but I don't think that thew would be able to create a handheld system that could top the DS. I mean what could they Nintendo create to succeed a touch screen?

theres definitely gonna be at least like 6 or 7 seasons of pokemon games. and theyll keep remaking the old outdated ones. (FR LG, HG SS.....)
and no offense, but you didnt really show any evidence. =/ its just an unending cycle of moneymaking. -------------------- |

Well the Notch-Eared Pichu does introduce a new mechanic... But Notch-ear isn't a new Pokčmon. Its just a gen II Pokčmon with a busy ear, she isn't more special than Ritchie's Pikachu who's got a fluff on its head. And new mechanics are introduced for nearly every game. -------------------- Uxie Anitarig Daisuke Weasley Sceptile Rika |

Correlation does not necessarily mean evidence.
Even without any hard facts right now, I'm sure a 5th generation will come up eventually. -------------------- |

Well, There are going to probably be loads more pokémon games, since each region is a place in Japan. There is about 30, so we're good to go for quite a few years... Probably.

I know theresa topic abotu this, but it's more discussion than a search party for evidence. I have gathered up evidence myself. In literal fact, you have no evidence, rather a collection of opinionised facts Notice how when they come out with a new hand held console there are usually newgeneration games following that? The Dsi just came out. Like many people have stated, a new console has never signified a new generation. Am I serioously the only one that noticed they showed us Munchlax 2-3 years earlier? Or Mime Jr and Bonsly were in emerald? I noticed Munchlax in Pokemon XD. Bonsly was in Colloseum. Mime Jr (iirc) appeared in the anime before its release. None were in emefrald .___. Post evidence you have here. In all hoensty, even the people who arent interested much know that as long as Pokemon keeps selling and money to be made , Gamefreak will continue to retail and create new Pokemon games. -------------------- |

That is not evidence... That is just what you THINK! Really... I Think There Only
Gonna make a 3D Remake Of R/S/E For Wii. With the 4th Gen Pokemon... Anyway its only 1 Gen for each Series of Consoles (Ds Phat/Lite/DSI ect.) -------------------- |

The GB/GBC era had two generations. Nintendo could easily do the same with the NDS/DSL/DSi. I just don't think the DSi alone is proof of a future generation. -------------------- |

Those are two different consoles. Many GBC-games did not work on an ordinary Game Boy. For the DS its the same games for all the different versions. It was my understanding that backwards compatibility to the hardware was closer to the 30-40 percent range of the GBC library. I consider that to be a decent amount. Yes, the compatibility is limited, but Nintendo did not change the main processor between the two units. Even though the GBC has twice the speed, four times the memory, it's still running the Z80 processor in the GB. In fact, Pokemon Gold and Silver are fully compatible with the GB, though I realize Crystal is not. -------------------- |

....And the topic is spun again, trapped in the endless web of discussion. (Sorry, I just got caught up in the moment. ) I think it's still too early to be discussing the 5th generation, considering that we are still in the middle of the 4th generation.
