Tony Abbot. I can't stand Julia and I'm a Liberal girl. But really, I'm just sick of it all and wish it would hurry up and end.

I dont actually know who should I vote for though because we dont actually know what'll they do after they actually take the Prime Minister place so I am thinking about passing this election and I agree, I just want it to end.

I really don't give a shit who wins and who doesn't. Both have introduced the shittiest taxes, and both have failed to keep their word on several occasions. Tax on the water we recycle, anyone? WATER WE FUCKING PAY FOR IN THE WATER BILLS ALREADY?
Sadly, I have to vote this year, and I plan to scribble my two cents all over the damn papers, and I don't give a fuck if it takes the whole pile of ballot papers and a photocopier to get my point across. Seriously though, whoever gets off their arse and gets something done right down here will get my vote. |

That is annoying, yes, not knowing what they'll do till they do it... But in Australia it really isn't about who is Prime Minister... they're pretty much puppets for their parties with a public persona, so what you're voting for is the party... Although even that doesn't matter in most electorates, since they tend to be strongly one or another... Like mine is very Liberal, so it's likely my choice with that won't matter.
But there are some differences in policies, and y'know, they're not the only two you can vote for... I'm personally gonna try voting some third party into the Senate... might make the decisions more balanced and I've always thought it was silly to only have two major parties/choices... What if you don't like either? It'd be nice having another choice... Anyway, I'll probably be voting Sex Party! Or Greens. Sex Party because they apparently have a lot of policies concerning equal rights... which, frankly, no other party has really pushed. And since I personally think who you have sex with is kind of, irrelevant, as long as all involved understand and consent, yay for equal rights! Yeah I wouldn't vote Abbott because... One, I don't vote for people just because they're part of a party I've voted for before... I think it's kinda silly to just vote for say, Labour because that's what you do. All parties have something good about them, and could contribute something to our society - which is why, if I could, I'd want a large variety of parties in the Senate, so that no one party could monopolise what laws go through. Oh, and I'm not voting for Abbott because he brings religion a little too much into politics. If you want to live a certain way, feel free... But don't enforce that on other people, which seems to be what Abbott is about... And don't think for a second I hate Liberal on principle or something silly: I really really like how John Howard got rid of guns and kind of owned the economy for a while... Ah, it will be sad and stupid that whoever's in power is probably just there because people vote for the same party all the time... Without seriously considering alternatives. Considering that parties change over time, it's silly not to reaffirm your choice... Guh voting is day after tomorrow! -------------------- |

Heres an idea, get the paper, pretend to fill it out, and put it in
If you skip voting it's a $79 fine... FOR NOT WANTING TO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT POLITICS. -------------------- |

Good news! You can actually submit a blank vote. It's not really voting that's compulsory, that's undemocratic. It's just going the ballot booth, getting your name crossed off and registering A ballot paper, formal or not. (Informal = not filled in fully/correctly/blank (I think it includes blank...))
So only formal votes are processed, well, formally and go directly to the decision... and you know, there's lots to vote on that isn't 'Gillard or Abbott' =P Aahh, I wouldn't even know anything about politics if I didn't whine to the people I know about not knowing who to vote for and that they're all doofus's... And then get them generally explained nicely to me... -------------------- |
