I have decided to make a series of PokeDebates that use random Pokemon to see more opinions on peoples' preferred Pokemon.

The Pokemon for this PokeDebate are Lucario and Absol. Who rules? Who drools? Which side will you choose?

Keep the debate calm and not violent. Keep on topic and please use proper grammar. (I am a grammar Nazi.)

I, myself, support Absol. Absol can learn fire moves from TMs and can be taught Psycho Cut at level 60.

P.S. Absol kicks all Lucarios into the trash.

In terms of battle, Lucario. Better speed + fighting moves = a win. In terms of overall, neither as both have way too much popularity.

I never got the appeal of Lucario. He just blends in with the rest of the pokemon I don't really care about. I do, however, like Absol so he gets my vote.

Once I did a drawing of a de-anthro'd Lucario. He looked uncannily like Absol. o.O
I would kinda sorta have to go with Lucario, since I main him in Brawl.
But I'll repeat what everyone else said and say that both are overrated.

What's up with people and Absol? It is a terrible Pokemon and it isn't even that unique. Is it because it is this Dark Pokemon? And everyone here wants to be "dark" and all that jazz so they can be unique... This is like a hipster fad. I'm at a total loss here.

Absols are known to be good in battling their Fighting-type disadvantage due to the Psychic attacks they learn (Ex: Zen Headbutt, Future Sight and Psycho Cut). Also, it can be taught (by using TMs) Fire Blast, Blizzard and Thunder. Do not underestimate the Disaster Pokemon.

I don't feel like this is a legit argument at all. Yes, Absol has an amazing 130 base Attack, but it doesn't have the Speed to outrun anything. With that 130 base Attack and access to Sucker Punch, Absol is able to potentially play mind games with your opponent. Unfortunately Fire Black, Blizzard, and Thunder are not even Attack attacks, they are Special Attacks. Coming off from a 75 base Special Attack? That's not going to do well.

In an OU environment everything relies on Speed -Absol only has a base of 75 Speed-, a lot of sweepers are going to be outrunning Absol. In OU, it is unfortunately, even worse for Absol because priority attacks are rampant. So welcome Infernape/Hitmontop onto the battlefield where it can quite comfortably one-hi knock-out Absol with Mach Punch. Priority moves will be Absol's bane.

Bottom line: Although it has an amazing Attack stat, its speed and defenses let it down.

This is coming from a battler's point of view.

I don't know anything about the "cute" thing. I believe symmetry and beauty triumphs any sense of cute.

Lucario. I just loves fighting types. Plus, in my opinion, he just looks awesome, especially his B/W sprite.
In battle Lucario would probably win, because he has higher speed, is special based and Absol has bad Special defence. Apart from Rock Smash and Superpower, all of the moves super-effective against Lucario that it can learn are special, and Absol had bad special attack.
I just don't see a win for it in any way in battle.
Plus, I love Pokemon that evolve. it's just something I really like. I don't like the same Pokemon again and again. The only time I ever used an unevolving Pokemon in a playthrough was Emerald when I used Minun, and that was before I knew it could evolve. I was waiting for ages expecting it to be like Pikachu, but it never came...

Don't get me wrong, I really like Absol, it's a cool Pokemon who looks good aesthetically and is quite a handy Pokemon to have on your side, but I think Lucario wins every time.

Absol is cool and all that jazz, but I like Lucario more. I use Lucario on my Dream Team!!! (Although I have thought recently about changing, but I think I'd still go with Lucario on this one.

I always thought Absol has better moves. Not that Lucario doesn't have good moves! But Absol's are just plain awesome. I mean, can Lucario be taught Fire Blast, Thunder, or Blizzard? I think not.
