I've watched both seasons and I absolutely love it. I like so many of the characters but a few of my favorites are El, Dustin, and Steve. So far my favorite episodes are season 1 episode 7, season 2 episodes 4 and 5.

I especially loved it when El is finally able to go to the snow ball like Mike had promised her in season 1

While I think that the Duffer Brothers' writing has some flaws and object to the existence of certain characters just being pointless fodder, ultimately I'm hooked on the series. On one hand, I can't wait for season 3, but on the other, I am deeply afraid of what will happen in season 3.

I hope that the next season goes well, I personally didn't enjoy how season 2 episode 7 was handled and there are some characters I think the show could do without but I'm completely invested now and I think it's going to take a lot to get me to stop watching it.

I have some thoughts about season 2 episode 7 and I wanted to say something to this extent before now but I'm only just getting around to actually writing it down.

I didn't actually hate this episode like so much of the fandom seems to. I don't think it's the best by any means and there are a lot of issues with it but I think the Duffer Brothers had a good idea that was just executed poorly.
We start the season with 8 and her gang so it seems wrong to just not include them at all for the rest of the season, but the way this episode was handled could have been better.
For example several of the gang members have no character to them and are just blank people to fill space, the only one that is enough to be a character is Kali, we have slivers of information about Funshine and Axel but the other two girls don't have anything to them at all.
I think there were too many new characters introduced in the gang and it would have gone better if it had just been Kali, Funshine, and Axel, and given them more time and development instead of filling the space with 2 more characters that don't do anything at all.
Also the placement of the episode threw off the mood and momentum of the rest of the episodes that came before. I really do think that El needed to get away and rethink where she wants to be especially since she has never really been given the choice on where she wants to live and what she wants to do. I think it was important for her to be able to make that decision for herself, but the episode could have been placed at an earlier time in the series where it wouldn't have messed up the flow as much.

I absolutely love it, can't wait for the new season, Steve is my favorite character! I hope to see more of him and Dustin having a big brother/little brother dynamic in the new season
