Hello again everyone, it's certainly been a while. I apologize for my seemingly endless period of inactivity, but sadly I'm not here to promise that I'm fully back. My life is in that "I have a job and other things to tend to" phase.

I know all of you have been frustrated at the lack of communication since the September SWSH ended, because of there being no prize. Tonight, we're releasing a new novelty. We had an idea in mind for a fun new way to obtain it, but due to my time constraints, I was never able to get around to finishing that. To make sure we don't go another month with no answers, we decided to scrap that idea and just release the novelty the traditional way.

This new novelty is Spiral Shellder. It requires you use a SlowpokeTail on a regular Shellder. Because of this, the SWSH prize for anyone who completed at least one hunt is a SlowpokeTail. Otherwise, if you don't already have one, you'll have to hope you're able to buy one from the Old Man that shows up from time to time. This is an evolution, which means we can't put a voucher for it in the Prize Shop like we typically do with new SWSH novelties, and we decided long ago that the SlowpokeTail will not be something you can buy in any of the shops, so that will not be added to the Prize Shop either.

Because it's Halloween, and we feel terrible about the delays and lack of new things, we're going to automatically give anyone who logs in on Halloween (October 31st, server time) a free Mega Stone! If you already have a Mega Stone, you are guaranteed to get a different one this time. However, you must have a Mega Ring before you're able to get your free Mega Stone. So if you don't already have that item, please make sure you purchase it before reset on Halloween night or you will miss out on the free gift!

So enjoy your Halloween! Dress up as a ghost and tell your friends about how you got a rock.

Yes, I'm inclined to agree. I have been purposely trying to get as many Mega Evolution-capable shinies as possible for this very purpose. So far, I've got Tyranitar(who's about to get an upgrade thanks to the Tyranitarite I just received), Lucario, Manectric, and Charizard. I'm working on Absol, and I also have a shiny Mudkip(who I'm not sure if I want to evolve yet) and a Metagross, just waiting for the Stones!

This new Shellder sounds awesome! Can't wait to find me a Lab fresh one and go for it. So.. wait.. I'll have to go back to the first post and read again.. but we feed Shellder the tail after hatching? So one could shiny hunt a Shellder and then make it the novelty. Hmm. Me likes that... if I am remembering what my tired mind read earlier. *blush*

Thanks for the update on the SWSH prize and for its release and the mega stone, too. Who knows? Maybe the next novelty can be unveiled in a super special way. Real life can be a real drag when it interferes with the fun side of things (like GPX).

Spiral Shellder is actually just an evolution of Shellder (using the SlowpokeTail). I just used some fun wording.

Yes, you could evolve a Shiny Shellder into the novelty!

Got an Ampharosite, and since I've got a shiny Ampharos, I shall be eagerly awaiting a thunderstorm. Wonder how many I can collect and get to max happiness before then...

I got a rock, and it is an awesome rock. Appropriately, it was a Banettite. Also glad for the use for the Slowpoketails--only had five to get the achievement because they were so dang expensive! Either way, I was very pleasantly surprised to get another Mega Stone today!

Also, thanks heaps for the new mega stones I got a Lucarionite, so yay The best thing about that is that it doesn't require anything more than what's already needed to evolve Riolu in the first place, I reckon. Except the mega stone itself, of course :P

I love the novelties based off canon things. And I've been hoping for some based off parts of real Pokemon like spiral Shellder or Baby Kangaskhan so it's nice to get one of those!

I'm curious, was this novelty idea thought of when the slowpoke tail was? Or is it new and you just decided to use the slowpoke tail with it because it made sense? Or thought of because you already had the slowpoke tail?

Glad to have another Mega Stone. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for them to be completely available. Have an Aerodactylite now. I've been maxing out the levels and happiness of Pokemon that mega evolve in preparation so I already had an Aerodactyl ready for it.

Can't wait for tomorrow for hopefully explorations I still need Pokemon from. And really hoping for the 11th trinket set. I'll have 2600 pokechests by the end of today and I want to finally open them, lol.

I got a Charizardite X and I am happy to finally get a Mega Stone since I missed the limited time buy a Mega Ring = a Free Mega Stone event.

If the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire videogames released next month allows us to get Mega Stones in the underground would that allow us to getting Mega Stones in the GPX Underground as one of the random items we can find in the GPX Underground as well?

Yup, I did read it right and understood your meaning. Like your fun wording, I prefer to think of it as feeding the Shellder the tail as opposed to applying it for the evolution. I like how we can use it "after the fact" instead of hoping that the egg we use it with turns up shiny. Me thinks I'll check in with a friend about a wet, shiny race now. LOL

Wow! I didn't know that this was an older Pokemon evolution! I just thought it was something new. How far back does this Pokemon go? Now I'm real excited to see what it'll look like!

Glad to see about the mega stones since I missed the sale (but have the ring) it'll be my first. Excited to be able to actually get my own to evolve. The new evo seems pretty cute to. I'd love to see a future one with the evolved form of the regular shelder since I'm sure it doesn't cross over.

They're referring to Slowpoke evolving into Slowbro. A Shellder bites a Slowpoke's tail and they become Slowbro and Shellder changes from a bivalve shell to a spiral one. So it goes back to the first gen. Now I kinda want to rewatch the ep where that happens.

Yeah, the back story is why I love this new novelty. And if you can find it, watch The Evolution Solution. It's the episode that shows Slowpoke evolving. It's a good ep.

I mean, did you even read the first post?
It's not that the prize all along was going to be just a novelty, it's that they wanted to create a different method of giving out the prizes.
They decided to scrap that idea when it became clear that admin weren't going to be able to create a thing for a site that you use for free because they were busy with, you know, actual life things?

And technically, the Mega Stone is a Halloween bonus.


Happier news - Got myself an Aeryodactylite; I was on hiatus when the free stones were given out, so I'm happy to finally get one. C:
Hopefully this will increase the number of Megas in the shelter so that people can complete pokedexes. C:

I know that, but realizing that it takes too much time and finally scrap the idea one month later, without even saying anything about it, disappoints me so much. All of that waiting in hope just to get an item that I already had. At least I didn't get the Mega Stone of a Mega I had, I would be even more pissed off.

And actual life things, yeah. Admins were online every day this month. They don't really have an excuse for me.

The only thing I'm really disappointed in is that after no word it's come to this. I'm not dissing anyone or anything, I'm just trying to express utter dismay.

I am also loving the new Spiral Shellder! One thing I noticed though is that Spiral Shellder's rarity is "Uncommon" as opposed to what I believe it should be, "Novelty." I am now really wanting to do a Shiny Hunt for Shellder, but my Shine Recorder is full and I haven't hatched a shiny since late September, so I guess I'll just have to wait to finally hatch one of the shinies I am hunting before shiny hunting a Shellder...

I'm going to be very blunt here. I'm also disappointed that Nick and Jeff have been absolutely quiet about GPX+ numerous times over the past while. They're also my friends, and thanks to Facebook and Twitter I can tell that they're clearly busy with their personal lives. However, what excuses you to be able to assume that the administrators of any website purely exist to cater to you? You have no idea what the staff members here are currently going through. We've got our own issues and obligations to deal with, I would like to assume that you have your own obligations outside of the internet as well.

Additionally, you act as if this is the first thing we've worked on that's been cut. I can guarantee that's not the case and it probably won't be the last thing either. The admins made the right decision in going with the simpler route and giving out mega stones as compensation. Considering it's been around a month or two without implementation of the new idea, it's pretty obvious that waiting even longer wouldn't have meant it'd magically be complete.

GPX+ wasn't made as our jobs, it was made as a fun side project that eventually overtook the whole site. Considering we all need to make rent and actually experience life, it's not something we look after full-time. The main reason there was so much focus on GPX+ back when it first started was because most of us were still in high school or just starting college. I've said this enough times lately, but most of us are now either focused on our careers or education full-time without anyone inheriting the work required for major updates to GPX+. I've even had Nick offer to teach me about web development, which I turned down so I could focus on developing my game development portfolio.

The fact is, GPX+ is going to continue to be a secondary thing for us. If mature, responsible people with strong knowledge of web development show up, sure maybe the staff can get together and figure something out to get GPX+ back on track. If not, expect more months to be like this. If you're going to keep being salty about it and not even care about our staff members as human beings at the most base level, there's the door. Leave. I preemptively wish you the best of luck with your life, because treating people like that won't get you very far.

I do agree that there should be more communication though, preferably before people freak out and get disappointed. No one said anything about the SWSH prize being delayed until everyone started wondering about it. And I remember the anniversary thread saying there would be a way to obtain more mega stones in the coming weeks, it's been over eight months now and there was no word on this. Would it really take so much time to say something like "things are going to take longer"?

Yes, you can evolve a Shellder into a Spiral Shellder as often as you'd like provided that you have enough Slowpoketails.


Well, the other members of the staff are also wanting more communication from the two admins who can actually get things coded in around here. Believe me, it's not just you. We've also been waiting for this novelty to be added for a while.

I've been making multiple posts saying how we've been planning to add a different way to obtain this particular one (note that this original method was to be used for Spiral Shellder only), but I couldn't exactly elaborate further or say WHEN it'll be out. I frankly couldn't know since Nick/Jeff are unavailable so often, and it was pretty much safe to assume that it would be delayed until one of them could add it. One big issue seems to be that people are expecting some exact date even when we did say that it would take longer than it should have.

Either way, the novelty is out, and that's what matters. Otherwise, it'd just involve more waiting, and we wouldn't want that. As for the Mega Stones, there ARE plans for those. I'd just rather be honest and say that we don't know when as opposed to making up some date about their availability.

Other then the communication, everyone should honestly have respect for the admins/mods. Considering they don't even have to keep this site up anymore, while at the same time balancing their life. Though this is a second type of life for them and fun, it takes the edge off. That's what makes it so great, its meant to be fun not all "race me and I'll beat you" up tight. I personally, hate that I had to wait (cause I missed the first mega stone) so long for one, getting my fave was a bonus for the first one. But the wait is what makes it actually interesting. If we got everything like we wanted, it would get dull fast and we'd have to find a new game.

If you can't have manners though, I do suggest you find a new site. Everyone, even mods SHOULD be considered humans, and having different lives from this. That isn't to say they can try to post more updates or what not, or possibly start trying to work with certain people, but they don't have the right to be treated wrongly or fussed at because they want to take their life seriously. Internet doesn't always last, what you do with your life does.

On a happier tone: Got my Shiny Pumpkaboo on Halloween no less. I'm pretty happy about it compared to the mega stone as well. Makes it all the more exciting and fun.

I never said that I didn't care about the admins, staff and all that. That's quite the opposite, actually. I love GPX+, it takes a big place in my life and I've been here for something like 4-5 years now and I still like it a lot.
I'm just disappointed that the staff members don't even take the 2 minutes necessary to tell everybody that the reward is delayed or something like that within an entire month... It would have been ok that way, knowing what to expect, but now it looks like the staff doesn't really care anymore (I know it's wrong, but that's the impression it makes)

RESPECT, y'all.

Being the overseer of something is tough. Heck, I just co-run a small forum site in the dark corners of the internet, and even that can be time-consuming. These guys have so much work to do beyond just GPX, and it's not like they are gods that can dump things at will on the site and are just keeping quiet to torture us. It takes work! And real life>internet 100% of the time. As a college student I can attest to this. It was a harsh reality check when I realized I couldn't be here 24/7 anymore (even if I am still on here a lot, my activity HAS decreased), and the admins have gotta be feeling it even worse than any of us, who REALLY don't have any sort of commitment to this site.

It should have been implied that it was delayed anyway. As I've said in another thread, we can't give away too much information about the prize itself for one thing, and for another, we don't always have exact dates. I'd gladly say that it's delayed, but I figured people got the idea when we said that we're quite busy at the moment and it would take time to implement. People are gonna be pissed that it's delayed anyway, so the phrasing would hardly matter. :/

Waiting sucks. Yes. I also hate waiting, but sometimes, it's all you can do.

I mean, I am a little upset that we had to wait so long for info and stuff, but I found a way to pass time. Now that it's actually here, I am quite happy that I got another Mega Stone(thankfully one I actually wanted this time, but I digress), and the new Novelty's a change of pace for me, since I haven't been on here for a year yet, even though that day is fast approaching! But yeah, gotta agree with Sam and say that life's one big jerk. It'll kick you down and throw you the other way. I'm only on here from 3 PM to like 10-11 PM but that's probably because I have school 95% of the time and I obviously can't go on here there, now can I? Other than that I sleep half the day on weekends because meh I'm a teenager.
Anyway, please understand that the Admins have lives too!
(Oh god I sound like Sakurai with that last part)

I'll agree that it's hard to manage something like this. I've managed something like this, actually 3 things like this. I'm a single mother to a 3 yr old (her father died last march in a bad car wreck days before my own father about 8 yrs ago in March), I'm taking college online (but it is still stressful) along with support my grandparents having issues, and my mom whos had strokes, my brother whom has lost his job for the idiots he runs out with, along with my sister when she needs certain things for her 3 kids. That doesn't include the house work or bills and work either. It can be very stressful. Personal life will always come first, and you don't really know how stressful it can be or time consuming if you are not that person. Patience should always be there as the people work hard when they do get free time best they can to make this site fun. But again this is of course just a site, and everyone should be respected or looked at in the same manner rather then just wanting things.

Sorry, mobile users... I can confirm you would have had to log in to the desktop version of the site to get a Mega Stone.

Worry not, I'm making it my mission to have them obtainable, as I find time here and there. No promises, as it's going to take some time, but here's hoping before December.
