Steelix
Credit to wymsy for the artwork! Type: Steel / ground Supposed tier: BL Base Stats- 75 HP / 85 Atk / 200 Def / 30 Spd / 55 SAtk / 65 SDef 510 BST Weaknesses: Fire (x2), water (x2), fighting (x2), ground (x2) Resistances:Normal (x0.5), Flying (x0.5), Rock (x0.25), Bug (x0.5), Ghost (x0.5), Steel (x0.5), Psychic(x0.5), Dragon (x0.5), Dark (x0.5) Immunities: Poison, electric Abilities- Rock head: Steelix takes no damage from moves with recoil. Steelix's only recoil move is doubles edge. Study: One-hit KO moves have no effect. Basically both steelix's abilities are useless since OHKO moves are usually banned and steelix will probaly never use double edge. Standard walling steelix Steelix @ Leftovers Ability: Sturdy (really doesnt matter) EVs: 252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 SpD Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) OR if using gyro ball Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd) - Explosion - Stealth rock - Stone edge / Gyro ball - Earthquake Gyro ball is a nice steel STAB and works nicely with steelix's dreadful speed. Earthquake + STAB is something metagross and TTar should think about before swithching in. Stone edge helps with coverage. Stealth rock will stop most flying types switching in. Explosion is steelix's final resort to take out a tough enemy. Choice bander Steelix @ Choice band Ability: Sturdy (really doesnt matter) EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd) 0 speed IVs is a must because of gyro ball - Gyro ball - Earthquake - Stone edge - Explosion EQ is steelixs main STAB attack. Gyro ball is also good with steelixs dreadful speed stat. Stone edge gets incoming flying types. Explosion is used as a last resort. Other Options: Rest is steelixs only way to recover barring leftovers. Crunch can hit those ghost types harder. Rock Slide and Rock Blast can be used in place of Stone Edge. Rock slide has less power but more accuracy. Rock blast can break through substitutes and hit the pokemon hiding behind it. The elemental fangs all have good uses: Thunder fang murders any incoming gyarados that aren't expecting it. Ice fang gets unsuspecting dragons. Roar can be used to abuse stealth rock, watch out for sound proofers! Iron ball can be used to half steelixs already mediocre speed stat effectively doubling gyro balls power. EVs / Nature: Always max out HP. The rest usually go into attack, defence and special defence to lower the damge of hidden powers. Counters: Bulky Waters like Milotic, Swampert, Suicune and Slowbro can murder steelix. Bulky Rapid Spinners like Donphan & Forretress can get rid of Stealth Rock while Steelix does hardly any damge to them. Will-o-wisp destroys steelixs attacking capabilities. Opinion: Although steelix is weak to some of the most common moves used (waterfall, surf, close combat, earthquake) it has some great defensive capabilities (resisting 11 types) and a rare qurter resistance to stealth rock. Almost all of steelixs stats are higher then the common skarm barring SDef and Spd but low speed is needed for gyro ball. The only thing steelix lacks is a recovery move. _________________________________________________ For those contest players: The tough Steelix Bold / Relaxed / Lax / Impish - Bind (will know upon capture) - Stone edge (level 49) - Crunch (level 41) - Tackle (will know upon capture) Stone edge is a guaranteed four hearts if used in a tough contest, unless you have annoying oppenents that use moves that stop the voltage from rising. Crunch can be used if your last another four hearts. Bind can be used if you're third or fourth, three or four hearts respectively. Tackle can be used after a bad turn when you're first or second. This moveset has completed normal, great and ultra and master ! Note that you can't win solely on appealing, you have to be good at dancing and dresssing up aswell. Poffins info: I use colbur berries to make poffins if you're fast you can get really high levelled ones. NEVER feed your steelix loads of low level poffins or its toughness won't go very high.
