This is a group for GPX members who want to complete a living Pokedex.
Living Pokedex -
" A living Pokédex is a game which not only has a complete Pokédex, but has one of every available species of Pokémon stored in its PC boxes as well, usually in their National Dex order. It follows the most literal interpretation of the former slogan of the series, "Gotta Catch 'em All!". It is considered a holy grail among some collectors. Among others, it is considered a waste of time and box space. "

This contests involves the creative side of our members in order to create a mascot and banner to symbolize Dexter's Lab.
Part I is to make a mascot for this group.
Rules:
The mascot can either be completely original or one of the existing Pokemon.
No size requirements.
Part II is to make a banner for this group.
Rules:
Must be 400 x 200
Must relate to the group in some way.
Text must be: "Dexter's Lab", at the least.

Err, the number of unique Pokemon that shows up in your profile. Also, those numbers are from the achievements. I'll go back and count it for myself. And, you're probably right and I will include ALL Pokemon when I redo the numbering.

You can use them if you want to. I just sometimes see people taking things w/o the courtesy of asking the creator but not totally your fault in this case.

The problem with that is that they include forms (unique also includes novelties). Not sure if you wanted to include those or not.

5 members (7 including us) is not enough to hold a contest yet. I say we need at least 10+ members. So everyone, ADVERTISE.
Also, I have an IRC channel. It's on the same server as the #gtsplus channel.
So you can use that applet and then type /join #cobalt
I'll create a set of instructions on better ways to access it when I get a chance and update the first post with it. Also, if anyone wants to make banners, feel free to send them my or MisterGrieves' way (preferably MG, since he's in charge of that).

It's a big update.
I joined with: Completeness of Kanto Dex: 129/151 = 85% and now it's: Completeness of Kanto Dex: 147/151 = 97.35% (All I need now is a Chansey, Zapdos, Moltes, and Mewtwo....good luck to me on the last three.)

It's quite fine. It gave me time to finish off the last of the pokemon I was working on before anyone saw it. I have reached the most difficult part, and knowing my luck, I'll be almost done and Gen V will come out postponing my victory. ;o;

Here's an update on my situation not including Unown or legendaries (For the achievements):
Kanto: 145/146 - Damn you Ditto.
Johto: 91/93 - I need 2 Kings Rocks to evolve Pokemon
Hoenn: 108/128 - I'm working through the last bunch of Pokemon. I need some evolution items as well.
Sinnoh: Haven't even started.
It's looking like I'll be getting a summoning item out of Johto soon as well as Hoenn.

I like both ideas that have been presented. There are three things I really want to do when I get some time:
1. Contests.
2. Badges/Achievements
3. Breeding Services (Good idea!)
If anyone wants to contribute some ideas to setting any of these up or even donating images for advertising OR badges, I'd really appreciate it. I don't know how much I can do this weekend, because I'm completely busy all weekend. But we'll see. So just let me know if you guys have any ideas of the 3 Events.

I can try my hand at some badges. I'm not a super-awesome spriter, but I think I can pull something together. Also, if we set up a breeding thing, I'd be willing to do some, since I'm close to being done, though nothing pure-bred since I still lack a Ditto. >.>

Alright, I'll make a section in the first post regarding breeding. Everyone, remember to advertise!
@Raven Kouryuu, any help on badges, be it ideas or sprites, would be greatly appreciated.
Also, just an update on my current status, I'm basically done Hoenn (except for leveling up Shelgon). That does not include item leveling Pokemon. I sort of want to save up for summoning items/fossils in the shop and, ultimately, the Lucky Egg. So I don't want to waste any points on evolution items/stones right now. I am going to be starting to breed Gulpin to get a shiny one so I can get the Pokii's Rage, Selective Hoarder, and Enough Already achievements at the same time. Afterwords, I'll get back on track with the Sinnoh dex.

And as for breeding, I can breed, I just have a limited amount I can breed.
I can breed Bulba Clones, Winter Vulpix, and Easter Buneary, [And soon Remorages]
And anything else I've collected for my collection and what not.

I know my Dex is pretty much empty but I'm going to start building it up. 
And i think a breeding service would be good, when you cant find that one pokemon that just seems to be avoiding you, you can just ask a breeder to help.

I had sprites ready but I accidentally Jpeg'd them, so I might not have them until tomorrow. They're just ribbons, inspired by the Dex achievements, with two per region and two for completion. Thinking about making a Form ribbon and Novelty ribbon for people who want to go that extra mile for their Dex, since I'm starting over. If anyone else has any ideas for a badge/achievement feel free to put them out there and I'll work on those too.

Hey, a pleasant surprise. I managed to get them done again, without killing them. >.> They're nothing fancy, but I like them. Each badge has the colors from the regions' trio, with the Master/Triumphant ribbons as the exceptions, for obvious reasons. Now with 100% more pointless flavor text.

Thanks~ I was beginning to fret over them like I do with all my stuff. Though now I have a bunch of new things to use if we need more badge type things.
Also, if we go by the flavor text, I'm not eligible for the Johto Ribbon as I still lack an Unown.

I thought of a neat first contest, for when we get some more members (or whenever). It would be a mascot contest. Entrants would choose a pokemon that could be our mascot, with their reasoning provided, and would either make a sprite or a Dress Up for it. Whichever entry is judged as the best would be our mascot, and I'd be willing to make a badge/trophy for the winner.

I'm all game for that idea. It really sounds great. I say starting next week, we do it. Also, you added Nero to the memberlist, but I don't think we formally accepted him. So welcome!
The reason I would like to start it next week is because I have baseball tryouts all this week so I'm pretty swamped with that and homework. So my role here will be limited until this weekend. I'm trying my best to click people, but some days I might not be able to and same goes for this group.
I am sure MisterGrieves can hold down the fort for the next week and I will try to pop in.

Next week is fine. I'll have more or less beaten Explorers of Sky by then so I'll be able to focus more on this place before I pick up my copy of Soul Silver. *awesome face*
In the meantime, though, I've made a bunch of ribbon templates, this time from scratch. I figure contest ribbons would mean more if they were done special. I have color palettes for gold, silver and bronze medals and a bunch of colors for the ribbons themselves. I forgot how much fun spriting was~

Well, definitely when you are eligible for a badge, so they know when to award one, but other then that I don't think you really /have/ to update. Of course, if you get something awesome, or want to share that you got something you were working hard towards, that would be fine too. I personally keep a running tally by updating my original post, mostly for my own reference. Hope this helps~

I had an idea, and feel free to tell me to stfu if you don't like it, but what if we also noted those that have the non very rare dex (by region of course)/or complete dex that have leveled all the pokemon to level 100? I mean once I complete the dexes I want something else to work on so my plan was to level the pokemon to 100 and have a topped out living dex, and I was thinking since it will take a long time and quite a bit of effort it might be worth it to give an extra kuddos to those people. IF this is liked by others I am willing to do the ribbons for that so as to not overload Raven with unplanned work. As I said if the idea isn't liked just let me know.

I only need Ditto for the Kanto dex, but in lue of actually having a chance at finding one I am working on Johto. at 56 (including my 1 unknown but not including my legendaries) of them.
Hey... I was wonder, cause I have been having a hard time finding them, could any one breed even one of the eggs I have left to get for Johto?
Need:
Skarmory
Stantler
Swablu
Any of those would be a great help for me so that I can start seriously leveling and evolving to get the rest of the pokemon for Johto.

Thanks everyone! I really like the idea about leveling Pokemon in the dex up to 100 because I was also planning on doing that. I've sort of been handling both a shiny Gulpin hunt and working on the Sinnoh dex, but I haven't formally started counting/organizing those Pokemon. I would really appreciate it if someone could breed me a Turtwig egg because I can never seem to find them in the shelter.
Demothi Ryuu, if I get a shiny Gulpin soon, I'll go ahead and start on those. But if not, someone else can take those up.

Poseidon, I dropped my Turtwig and Kangeskhan into the day care, they can't stand to look at each other, but they will breed eventually, but I wanted to use another rare so that each egg has a 50/50 chance of being a Turtwig, sorry I don't have a Silph Scope so I won't know if any of them are Turtwigs, but I will start letting you know when there are eggs.
On another note, you can scratch Swablu off my list, shelter liked me enough to give me one so just skarmory and stantler left.

Alright guys, I'm ready to announce the first contest. I don't think I need to run this one by MisterGrieves because it's just a basic, start-up contest.
The goal is to make a mascot for the group, Dexter's Lab. There is a second part of this which will be judged separately. The second part is to make a banner that will go at the top of the topic. If you enter both parts of the contest, you can use the mascot you make/chose.
Part I: to make a mascot for this group.
Rules:
The mascot can either be completely original or one of the existing Pokemon.
No size requirements.
Part II: to make a banner for this group.
Rules:
Must be 400 x 200
Must relate to the group in some way.
Text must be: "Dexter's Lab", at the least.
There aren't many rules/regulations for this contest because this is mostly a creative thing. Prizes are probably going to be ribbons/badges.

I almost completed my Kanto dex, I only have to evolve Elekid, hatch Pinsir, and find an Aerodactyl egg (I'll find it when I'll stop searching for it) And of course I need a Ditto, but I don't really hope to find one x)
I'm going for Hoenn dex next

For just starting, the mascot sprite is really good. As a suggestion, if you can, download Paint.Net. It's a free version of what is basically MSPaint on steroids and it helps with making things transparent. If you plan to keep spriting, it's a good program to have. I typically edit it MSPaint, and make it transparent and double-check in Paint.Net
And I apologize for being so quiet around here. I still need to start my mascot. @_@ SoulSilver is monopolizing my time these days.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll probably look into it... I am running Win7 so paint is much more effective now, but everything is worth a shot.
Also thank you for the complement, it helps me feel positive when people say stuff like that, In all honesty the only reason I submitted it was because I had it finished, I made myself post it and follow through with it... so it feels good to know that it isn't terrible. If you see something you think I could do to make later work look even better then please PM me and let me know, I take constructive criticism very well.
I will probably try this out as well, and see what way I feel most comfortable.

Just a note, I'm dropping from the contest, since I've been distracted by a lot of IRL stuff and I doubt I'll have the motivation or time to finish. I had a really ambitious idea and I've come to the realization that I simply don't have time. I might scale it back and enter it if I finish before the deadline, but as it stands I'm on a mini-hiatus from here until early April-ish. I /do/ have the ribbons done, though, so I'll get to uploading those soon.

<.< And not to be nitpicky, but I think I get the Johto and Kanto Master Ribbons, too. (since I have all of the legendaries from both regions, as well as all of the Unown and Ditto)
Edit: You can also add the Hoenn Master Ribbon to that, too, since I just got Jirachi! =D The only region I've left to complete now is Sinnoh!

My living pokedex is now donedone (minus legendarys). I did get a Ditto oneday and today I did found Shroomish for Shroomish since it was the last one from my living pokedex :_D so now I just need sit and wait for legendarys.. boring as hell. Ou and Unowns totally forget that I only have one of those..

Yeah, apologies for the giant hiatus. Things got really crazy for me and I had no access to my computer for a while. But, things are back to 'normal' and so I'm back. On a side note to this, I have managed to grab an Unown (finally!), so I have finally earned the Johto Ribbon~ Now all that is left is a blasted Ditto, which are still just as hard to get despite their more frequent appearances.

Edit: So I just grabbed a Ditto egg, which once it hatches qualifies me for the Kanto Ribbon as well, along with the Master Ribbon. Getting closer to some of the regional Master Ribbons, as I now own a Mewtwo, a Shaymin and *soon* I'll have a Ho-Oh. Completion is so close I can almost taste it~
