Raine tilted her head curiously as he spoke. She had purposefully left out the title of their affliation; either this fellow had made an extremely lucky guess, or he really was Magma, and she was in a lot of trouble. However, he went on to say he had no identification, and that his mission was instead of observing their mission, was now to impede them from it. Raine's mild doubt passed, and she slowly reached for Omicron's poke'ball.

Instead of looking annoyed, Raine looked tense. Another battle was on the horizon, and both hers and Abraham's poke'mon were fatigued; Lucien was fainted. Her eyes darted to the Skiploom and the Growlithe, and a brief memory flash allowed her to guesstimate what one of his other two poke'balls held; the Vulpix that had trailed them. She hadn't seen what was in the last ball, though, and this mildly concerned her. She only truly had one poke'mon with which to fight, for she didn't really know the moves of her newest addition. She had a base knowledge that Horsea were born with Bubble, which could be useful against the Growlithe and/or Vulpix. Between she and Abraham, they had two electric types, an ice type, and a possible water-type. Lucien had fainted in the last battle.

The kid had a swagger about him that made Raine's somewhat-saiyan battle urge begin to flare. As he asked for her "manfriend's" name, Raine smirked.

"He can speak for himself."

Abraham suddenly found himself with the same advantage Jened had, which was anonymity. Giving up his name to an obvious enemy was not near the top of his to-do list, and the notion that he would was enough to raise an eyebrow. "I'd give you my name in exchange for yours, but I find myself entirely apathetic to it.

"That said, it would seem we're at somewhat of a crossroads," He continued, still rolling Tartarus around in his right hand. "Well, it's a forced crossroads, but it's there nonetheless. You still have the option of walking away. You don't even know what it is we're doing. Just going out of your way to cause problems for us. It just seems like it would be in everyone's best interests for this situation to not go past where it is now. You probably have better things to do than chase us around town anyway, right? You're young. You're a big, athletic guy. Come on, kid like you could probably do anything he wants, and you're gonna spend your youth here?"

He was really intent on not having a battle there. It didn't seem likely, but if there was a chance he could talk the kid down from using force, he'd take it, and so he did. Violence was not Abraham's M.O.

Jened’s business in their business was hardly due to boredom. It started as such, but activity in missions was a way to step up in the Rebellion. If he could return to his leader and report a successful mission without even being assigned one, well, it would be a good self-esteem booster to say the least.

He didn’t expect them to realize that, nor did he really care if they did. All he was focused on was the package, and the other’s Pokémon.

Manfriend spoke up, trying to talk Jened out of battling. It made Jened smile, he even began to laugh.
“You're young. You're a big, athletic guy. Come on, kid like you could probably do anything he wants, and you're gonna spend your youth here?”
Jened wiped tears from his eyes. He hadn’t ever been talked down to like that, mostly because his former Rebellion partners knew how he could act, and they respected him. A couple of people feared him.

“You’re so naďve,” he chuckled. “I didn’t expect someone could be so rude. You know, underneath your ‘proper’ attitude, you have quite a sloppy way of talking to strangers. That might be the way you talk to your crush here, but I personally don’t approve of it.”

By now, Jened was ready to get things over with.
“I don’t care about your name anymore, Manfriend, mostly because I don’t respect you enough to care. But before I get started, my name is… Jened, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” He bowed, and spoke in a tone that mocked his opponent.
Jened didn’t really expect them to believe that was his real name, especially after the pause he added to make it seem suspicious. But he knew Raine’s name, so it was fair for them to know his real name.

Aglaia wouldn’t be able to fight, and Iris was pretty beat up. Amy seemed fine. So his Pokémon lineup would be a Skiploom, Growlithe, and Shellder. He had no idea of his opponents Pokémon, as he didn’t pay attention to their battles, but his Pokémon seemed a might stronger.

“Alright. Ardaine, Amy, you guys are up.” The Growlithe pounced before her trainer and Amy drifted lazily above her partner. “I’m looking forward to this,” he smiled.

Raine felt the urge to open her mouth in protest at the word crush (and to be honest, she was getting rather annoyed at the word Manfriend, now that their ruse was blown.) But before she could do anything, the man, whom she know knew as Jened. As the Growlithe and the Skiploom came forward, Raine immediately went into stratagize mode. Her eyes drifted over to Abraham, curious as to what kind of poke'mon he could still fight with. Her Houndour was down, sadly, otherwise that Skiploom would be out of the picture in a quick hurry.

She turned her head over to Abraham, fingering Epsilon's poke'ball. "Whatcha' got?" she called over, darting her eyes back and forth between her "partner" and the rude lad. She could tell by Abraham's stance that he was none too happy at being talked to in such a way...especially by a kid. It could be just the rage they needed to win.

"Confusion, mostly," Abraham said in response to Raine's question. "Did this kid really just call me naive?" Then, he shrugged. "Well, whatever. Gaia and Tartarus are both ready."

Raine bit her lip. She slowly pulled Epsilon's poke'ball out of its place, and looked at it. "Epsilon, you're up!" she called, and in a flash of red, the bouncing Horsea took the field. "Gaia would be nice." she said mildly, keeping her eyes on Jened's poke'mon. She knew that the Horsea at least had Bubble and Smokescreen. The latter, for the moment, would be her strategy, until she came up with something better. "Epsilon, Smokescreen!" she cried, and with a curt, adorable nod, the Horsea proceeded to spurt a cloud of dark, thick smoke in front of the Growlithe and Skiploom.

"Naturally," Abraham nodded and tossed out Gaia's pokeball. Skiploom was fast, certainly, but maybe with the aid of Epsilon's Smokescreen, it would have a difficult time avoiding Gaia's lethal ice attacks. "Gaia, target Skiploom. Use Powder Snow."

She almost seemed annoyed that he felt the need to say that. Of course she was going to use Powder Snow on the pokemon who had a natural weakness to it.

Raine smirked. She felt a sense of confidence rising within her, but she quickly stifled it. No trainer was to be underestimated. She hoped that the Powder Snow attack hit, that way she could have Epsilon target that Growlithe. Though she couldn't see Jened's face through the smoke, she could only hope that it was one of frustration.

Jened watched as the Horsea spat out a cloud of smoke until the opposite side was completely obstructed from his view. Jened had to think quickly, he was familiar with this kind of attack combo.

“Amy, shoot up as high as you can and use Bullet Seed. Ardaine, get out of the smoke and use Flame Wheel on the Swinub as a distraction. Once their eyes are on you, use Helping Hand.” Their vision was impaired, but he had faith in his Pokémon that something would land a blow.

Amy suddenly shot up into the air just as a cool breeze wafted through the smoke. Amy managed to dodge the attack just in time, but the flurry of snow flew around Ardaine as she sat helpless.
“C’mon Ardaine, let’s go!”

The pup stood up and braced itself against the snow. She dashed out to the side to get out of it and ran out into the clear area. She opened her muzzle and released a stream of flame towards the Swinub. The flame circled the pig Pokémon.

Jened waited for the smoke to clear. By then, Gaia was trapped in flame and Ardaine stood watching her opponents. She was a little shaken with the ice attack, but so far, everything was going as planned. Jened was hoping ‘the victims’ eyes were on Ardaine as the Skiploom prepared her attack from above. Just as Amy couldn’t hold back, Ardaine let out a bark of support for her partner and the array of seeds were shot to the opponent’s side of the field.

Abraham sighed as Amy shot herself into the air and effectively avoided Gaia's Powder Snow, which instead hit Ardaine, who maneuvered around the smokescreen and launched a circle of flames around Gaia. Abraham saw Amy start to shoot seeds of bullets to the ground below and they weren't going to be painless.

He had a decision to make. He could either have Gaia take care of the more pressing danger, which was Amy's Bullet Seed by shooting Powder Snow up in her direction, or he could have her try to get out of the flame circle by using Mud Slap, which would damage Ardaine, further reduce her accuracy and put out the flames, which would allow her some mobility to try and dodge some of the seed barrage raining down from above. He decided on both.

"Gaia, use Mud Slap on the Growlithe!" he shouted. "Get a little bit on the fire! Follow up with Powder Snow on the Skiploom!" She began squirting mud out from beneath her. As it shot towards Ardaine, drips of it also put out parts of the fire. As soon as there was an opening, she shuffled out of her fiery prison and shot her snowy attack into the skies, some of the flakes intercepting the seeds of bullets firing down. She took a few hits, as did Epsilon, but they were relatively weak attacks and only one or two Powder Snows would be needed to completely take out Skiploom, depending on how much damage she'd already taken.

Raine watched the proceeding events, and proceeded to shield her own head as the seeds plummeted down on both she and Epsilon. While the seeds stung quite a bit, she was more worried about Epsilon, and as she opened her eyes after the hail had ceased, she fully expected to see Epsilon severely weakened, if not fainted. Instead, what she witnessed caused her face to turn into an expression she didn't typically use: Confusion. The little Horsea looked as though he had sustained a few good whacks with the seeds, as his blue skin now sported welts of pink, but he looked rather enraged. His little nose/mouth was flaring angrily, and it was staring up at the Skiploom with a look of disdain. Raine was overjoyed. As she saw Gaia use Mud Slap on the Growlithe, she knew that this was her chance.

"Epsilon, use Bubble on that Growlithe, now!" she cried, pointing towards the muddy looking pup. With a confident whinny, the Horsea reared back its head...but the simple, foaming bubbles was not what came out of his mouth. Instead, a jet of water that sent the Horsea tumbling over itself shot straight at the Growlithe; Water Gun. Raine watched as her Horsea landed snugly against her legs, still firing off the jet of water. She turned to look at Abraham, and shrugged.

"I...guess he knows Water Gun, too." she murmured, feeling the pressure lift from her legs as the attack ceased. Epsilon now rested snugly against her legs, droplets of water falling from it's snout. If poke'mon could swear, Epsilon would be doing so. Such a flurry of squeaks and whinnies Raine had never heard.

Abraham just smiled at Raine. "He's a keeper, that one. Let's win us a pokemon battle."

Jened was caught completely off-guard. He didn’t expect such a reaction. But his had to be quicker if he could win the battle.

“Amy get out of the way, quickly! Retaliate with a leech seed on the Horsea!” Amy instead, took her time to produce a seed that shot out at the Horsea. She started flying up just as the Powder Snow began to buffet her. Amy struggled to escape, but to no avail. The Dandelion had begun to wilt on her head and slowly drifted down to ground level.

Jened also had to think quickly as Ardaine was being ganged up on. She was already covered in mud, she whimpered as she ran around trying to get it out of her eyes. Jened could hear Raine shout an attack on Ardaine, whom was not prepared to take an attack of any kind.

Just as the Horsea prepared its bubble attack, Jened shouted. “Ardaine, take a sharp right, try to avoid the attack!” The Horsea released a sudden jet of water that shot at the Growlithe. Ardaine stood confused for a moment, but as soon as she heard the water rushing towards her, he darted off to the side.
She didn’t escape completely, her backside being caught in the attack. But she sat calmly and waited for an order, panting to catch her breath. She wan't one to go out easily.

“Amy, return.” The Skiploom smiled and waited for the red light to envelop her. “I guess this means you Caile.” The ball clicked open and a Shellder emerged.

“Caile, confuse them and strike ‘em with ice. Ardaine, sniff out the Swinub then Fire Fang.” Jened was hoping the vague orders would hopefully confuse his opponents.

Caile lifted his groggy eyelids immediately and released Supersonic toward the other side of the field. Ardaine stood up and sniffed at the air as she performed Odor Sleuth. She found her target and ran around her partner towards her opponent in a zigzag manner. Caile released his Icicle Spear towards the opponents at a furious rate. Ardaine ran through the shards and fire consumed her mouth as she went to bite down on the Swinub.

Raine uttered a quick sigh of relief as Amy was returned into her poke'ball. They had a chance. Despite everything, they still had a chance. However, as she witnessed the resiliant Growlithe still on its feet, she had to stifle a very, very naughty word. A Shellder was called onto the field, and Raine's next move was obvious. Epsilon, having recovered from his rage, seemed to droop now that the
adrenaline rush was out of him, but he still looked good enough to launch one more attack. This one would have to count. As the Growlithe launched forward in what seemed to be a fire attack towards Gaia, Raine knew she would have to take the Growlithe's distraction and use it...now.

"Epsilon, Water Gun, now!" Raine cried, pointing towards the dashing Growlithe. A powerful stream of water was
sent forth, however, it was cut short due to a sharp icicle that buffeted Epsilon back to Raine's feet. She knew that he was done.

"Well done, Epsilon. Return!"

"Seeaa..." was the weak, but happy sounding response, and in a flash of red, the Horsea was recalled. Reaching for her last, useable poke'mon, Raine smirked. At least she had a type advantage, here...with what looked to be Jened's last
strong opponent.

"Omicron, let's finish this!" she called, and the Flaafy burst onto the field with as much vibrance and life as he could possibly muster. He was in perfect health, which was proven by the way he eagerly bounced on his tail. Raine couldn't help but feel a slight rush; they might be able to pull this off.

Abraham nodded as Gaia's Powder Snow landed successfully, but cringed as Ardaine managed to see past the mud and smoke blurring her vision and charge straight for the little Swinub. She was kicking up mud and trying to avoid him, and even Epsilon landed a weak water attack, but Gaia was ultimately unable to avoid the Fire Fang.

She didn't even get to look up at her trainer, disappointed, as she was pretty immediately knocked out. Abraham called her back, silently, and tossed out Tartarus the Elekid, his final pokemon. Both the Growlithe and the Shellder were out on the field, but it was clear which was the bigger threat. Ardaine was fatigued, weak and had blurred vision. Shellder was weak to lightning, and both Omicron and Tartarus had that going for them. "Forget Growlithe for now," Abraham said to Raine. "Let's get rid of that Shellder. Tartarus, Thundershock!"

Raine nodded curtly, and pointed to the Shellder. "You heard him. Thundershock on the Shellder, now!"

The Flaafy began sparking, it's black little eyes narrowing in it's focus. With a mighty "FLAAAA!" (or at least as mighty as a pink sheep can muster), the Thundershock attack was cast forth, interlocking with Tartarus's attack in one combined electrical charge. Raine remembered a similar scenario the time she had first met Abraham...and the results had been, well, explosive. The two electric types seemed to feed off of each other in a terrifying fashion. If the attack hit, the Shellder would not be in a good state. The only problem with the combined attack was it was very difficult to cease the cycling charge of energy; one of the poke'mon would likely have to be recalled for the attack to cease.

Jened grinned happily as his attacks had taken care of both opponents before him. He congratulated his Pokémon just before the two new Pokémon were summoned. ‘Crap. I was hoping they’d be out by now’.
He had no doubt that the pair had more than two Pokémon, but he was under the impression they would have been worn out by now, given their prior battle.

Ardaine was weak, and Caile was a sitting duck for the two new electric types on the field. This will probably not end in his favor. But he had to win. Losing this mission was not an option so far.

Jened watched as the Elekid and Flaafy began charging up for an attack, and there was no doubt of their target.
“Caile! Use Protect now!!” Jened shouted with the upmost urgency. The Shellder quickly closed its durable shell, and for a moment he had gone unfazed. But the intense voltage eventually broke through the defense and started dealing tremendous damage. By that point, Jened knew he had to close off the circuit as fast as possible and already formulated a plan to keep damage at a minimum.

“Ardaine, Tackle the Elekid, disrupt the attack. The spin around and use Reversal on the Flaafy. When you’re done, use Helping Hand for Caile.” The Growlithe let out a yip and proceeded with the attack. Once the flow was slightly disrupted, protect took effect once again, but it was clear how tremendous the attack was on the shelled Pokémon.

“Caile, use Supersonic and follow up with Icicle Spear.”

The Clam winced as it tried to pull off an attack, but sparks wrapped around it and it couldn’t move. Ardaine was on the other side of the field yipping for Caile, who quickly released shards of ice towards his opponents.

These attacks were sub-par and clearly a means of just prolonging the loss. His Pokémon would give out any minute.

‘This isn’t going well. Why aren’t they losing?!’ Jened’s sanity began to slip along with the battle. His pupils began to dilate as he grew more frustrated.

Oh Oh Sizzle (click to show)

"Hold strong, Tartarus!" Abraham shouted as Ardaine charged him for a tackle. "Don't let it hurt!" As Ardaine made contact, Tartarus stepped back just slightly, but kept channeling his electricity through Omicron's fluff.

As Ardaine made her way to her next target, Omicron, she found herself in the middle of a massive amount of static electricity channeling between the two electric types. Paralysis took effect.

Raine was surprised at the amount of damage that the Shellder could take, but was even more surprised by the fact that they actually broke through a Protect move. Her confidence boosted by this and the fact that Jened had just paralyzed his already weakened Growlithe by forgetting the all-too-unforgivable Static ability, Raine allowed the smallest of smirks to fall onto her lips. Omicron was buffeted back by the attacks, but remained firm in the unrelenting barrage on electricity.

"Keep it up! We've almost..." Raine called, but it was at this point that she witnessed the Shellder's lazy eyes roll back after one final Icicle Spear attack, and it's gaping mouth closed with a snap. She could fairly well assume that the Shellder was done. Turning to Abraham, a wide, happy grin on her normally stoic face, she shouted over the crackling, sparking sound of electricity: "Tell Tartarus to change the direction of the beam! That Growlithe can't take much more!"

Abraham did not return Raine's goofy smile, but nodded towards Tartarus, who heard good and well. Omicron and Tartarus simultaneously shot their electric current towards Ardaine, who had taken so much punishment already on top of being effectively blind. She managed to, impressively, take a few seconds of the double teamed attack before being defeated.

"Good work, boys," Abraham said, holding out Tartarus' pokeball. He had experienced this before and knew that the powerful attack could not be controlled nor stopped without using force, so he recalled the Elekid into his pokeball.

Raine's heart was beating wildly. They had done it. They had actually done it. She witnessed an obvious slump in Omicron's posture as Elekid was defeated, and Raine was reminded that the win had not come without cost. "Good job, Omi'. You did great." she murmured, recalling the tired Flaafy and returning the ball to her belt.

"You all did." she whispered quietly, her wide grin falling into a smaller, sweeter smile as she stroked the poke'balls at her waist. She slowly lifted her head, looking over to Jened. "Well, then..." she murmured over to the lad, placing her hands behind her back astutely. "I suppose it's time for you to go."

Abraham watched Raine's demeanor change slightly and couldn't help but smile himself. "Bye, sweetie," he said to Jened. "It was so great meeting you."

Dream Party

Jened faced the ground as he returned his defeated Pokémon. His hair covered most of his face as he looked up. He smiled widely and began laughing in a haunting way.

“Hahaha. Good show.” His eyes were dark as he spoke and his hair streamed over his face. It was evident his mentality slipped away.
“What a battle. I suppose you can go now. But I’m not failing this mission, so you’ll just have to proceed without the package.”
Jened retrieved his gun from his bag. He fired a round in the air. He began to laugh some more as the sound echoed through the street. “I recommend you hand over the package.”

He walked over to them slowly, holding the pistol in front of him. He hadn’t taken notice of the victims, merely the parcel he needed to retrieve. A few feet away from the two, Jened was grasped by a man in a large green coat.
“I believe that will do, agent.” Jened reacted from the sudden grasp with a quick turn and another shot in the air. The man grabbed Jened’s shoulders once more and shook him. “Where have your manners gone?”

Jened was motionless until his eyes contracted to a normal size. He smiled at the man, “Oh, hello uncle. I guess I wasn’t very well just now.”

"Yes, well, your teacher called. Apparently you have school today. Imagine that."

Jened groaned and pulled his hair back. He turned to Raine and Manfriend. “I’m sorry, I guess I just got confused for a moment. Thanks for the battle. I guess I still have some training to do.” He laughed lightly.
He tossed the gun back into his bag. “Well, I hope to see you again. Don’t let me catch you working for magma or I might have to come get you again. It was nice to meet you Raine and... Manfriend.” He smiled and turned back to his uncle, being sure to shoot a glare at the man before he left.

~~~
“Well, you handled that quite nicely, agent.” He tossed his arm over Jened’s shoulder as the two walked off. “You know, those are very deceiving blanks, I thought you almost got me.” he grinned.
Jened’s face became solemn. It would have been nice if he could prove his worth by completing that mission. But it would have to wait. “You’re crazy,” Jened responded after a period of silence.
“Look who’s talking.”
PANE
Abraham expected something crazy to happen when the battle was supposedly over. So-called Jened was far too cocky, far too devoted to winning the fight to simply accept defeat. He expected, maybe, a phone call for backup, a fistfight or, hell, maybe even some more attempts at patronizing tones. What he did not expect, however, was for the boy to pull out a gun.
As soon as he saw it, he held out his arm to Raine and pushed her back a few steps, simultaneously taking a step to his left so he was entirely in front of her. "Jened! Jened, calm down!" He shouted. "We'll do it, okay? We'll-" But then another man made an appearance, Jened's uncle apparently, and served to sort of save the day. As they left, Abraham noted Jened's look of fire back at him and stared menacingly back.
Once they had turned the corner, Abraham turned around to Raine. The two were very close at that point, even given their height difference, and Abraham had to say something. "I'm sorry," he said. "Are you okay?" As he spoke, he unconsciously gripped her hands. After the near death (or apparently so, at least) experience, he felt an odd compulsion to be close to someone, anyone, and it just felt natural to do so with the person who also experienced it.
"Sorry," he added, awkwardly, then immediately cursing inside his mind for being so awkward, as he pulled away from her, knowing her disdain for physical touch. "But hey, we made it. Let's get this toxic asset off our hands and get a drink or five, what do you say?"
The Pack
Raine was too busy self-celebrating for actually winning the battle; she only noticed the gun when Abraham stuck his arm out, and stood in front of her. Before she could retort, she looked underneath his extended arm and saw the gun. Terror coursed through her, and she laid her hands on Abraham's waist, as though that would somehow protect them.
Thankfully, a man intervened...and before she knew it, she was in a rather awkward situation. She was still scared, and so when he clasped her hands, she didn't flinch as she normally would have. Her mouth was slightly parted, her breathing shallow out of her fright. As he asked her if she was alright, Raine blinked a couple of times, before coming out with.
"I..."
"Sorry." he said before she could finish her sentence. Raine's face flushed, and as he pulled away from her, she turned her back, mentally reprimanding herself. Why was she so awkward? She had just had the chance to...maybe...bond with someone, and she was just too darn awkward. Granted, she vehemently disliked the fellow. Well, slightly disliked.
...Okay, he was turning out to be okay. But she still didn't like him.
Abraham mentioned the package, which caused the highly intelligent girl to gasp and say "The package!", before she heard something about drinks. For once in her life, she did not mind the sound of that. They had almost died, after all.
"That sounds like a stupendous idea. Let's go."
As they made the surprisingly short walk, Raine was on her guard. Who knew if some other random person was going to attack them at any point in time? However, they made it to the door, and knocked.
A sliding panel revealed two sets of eyes, darting around frantically.
"Hello? Who's there?" she heard a gruff voice say, and Raine sighed. Standing on her tiptoes, she met the brown eyes of the inquisitor, who backed away sharply at the sight of two magically appearing blue eyes.
"Raine Vega, Grunt, and Abraham West, Recruit. We are here to deliver a package." she said softly. The eyes slowly approached the window again, darting over to Abraham, who had been slightly out of view before.
"Contents?" he asked brusquely, as though trying to prove his manhood.
"Classified."
"Identification."
Another sliding panel door, which opened midway down the door, allowed a tray to slide out, containing what looked to be a scanner of some sort. Raven scanned her ID, and a green light flashed, and she motioned for Abraham to do the same. Once they were clear, the scanner was retracted, and the door made a loud, metallic click.
As it swung open and Raine stepped inside, she allowed a tiny smile to cross her face. The man who had been guarding the door was at least twice her size, and seemed equally as embarrassed at hers. He grunted and pointed down the hallway, refusing to make eye contact with the small girl, but proceeded to stare down Abraham.
The two made their way down the hall, and approached a rather haggard looking man sitting at a desk. Well...sleeping at a desk. Raine darted her eyes to Abraham, and nibbled her lip. He was an executive...did you just...wake an executive? Raine was eager to get this mission over with. She'd do her best.
"Um...excuse me? Sir?" Raine's timid voice said softly, and she lifted a hand, as though that would do something. The man did not stir. Raine's lip-nibbling became more severe, and she tried again, a little louder.
"Sir? Hello?"
The man jerked his head up with a start, looking around the room wildly. He eyed the two suspiciously for a moment, before grumbling "...You aren't Aqua, are you?"
Raine blinked, and shook her head. "We brought...erm...a package, sir. For you." she mumbled, digging her toe into the tile. She reached back behind her for Abraham to give her the package, and once it was placed in her hands, she slowly approached the desk. As she held the package, her curiosity about its contents was piqued once again. What could possibly be inside that could have gotten she and Abraham killed?
The man took the package, turned it over and over, and nodded. "Very good, Grunt. You too, Recruit. I've been waiting for this for a long time. Seems something miserable happened to everyone assigned to deliver this."
Raine smiled softly, her toe almost digging a rut into the hard tile. She turned to Abraham, smile still on her face, before turning back to the executive.
"Thank you, sir." was her polite response.
The man nodded, smiling at the parcel. As he tore a corner of the brown paper, Raine didn't realize she was leaning forward. The executive, however, did.
"You are dismissed."
A hot flush ran to her face, and she saluted, turning, bumping into Abraham, and striding out of the room. As soon as Abraham was next to her again, she sighed.
"I was at least hoping we would find out what was inside...but, it's probably top secre-..."
"ALRIGHT! CANDY BARS!"
Raine stopped in her tracks. That had been the executive's voice. All color drained from her face, and she felt like her legs had turned to Jell-o. She slowly tilted her head up to look at Abraham, an incredulous look on her face. Mouthing the words "Candy Bars?", she slapped her hand to her forehead, whimpering miserably. They had gotten into battles, risked their lives and the lives of their poke'mon, and for what?! So one man could have his chocolate fix?
What kind of messed up organization was this?!
It took Abraham about ten seconds from the time of hearing what was inside the top secret package which caused them oh so much strife to come to the realization that it didn't matter. It didn't matter at all. They had successfully completed their first mission and at the end of the day, regardless of how petty or stupid, that's what mattered.
"Nope," Abraham shook his head, smiling down at Raine. "It was a top secret document of utmost importance. Far as I'm concerned, we just saved the organization, and the very fact that that man happened to enjoy a candy bar or two while we were doing it does not concern me in the slightest.
"Now," he continued, comfortably putting his arm around her opposite shoulder. "I think we had some sort of agreement about drinks?"
Raine couldn't help but laugh at Abraham's explanation of their mission. If he was attempting to make her feel better, it was working. However, her smile fell as he laid his arm around her shoulders. However, instead of shrugging it off, or wincing (which was a very difficult thing to keep from doing, mind you), she simply narrowed those sapphire eyes and wrinkled her nose. It was her anger face, but the tiny smirk growing underneath it expressed her mood perfectly. However, if he didn't understand, she made it quite clear with her next few words.
"I'll allow this to happen. Let's go...have a couple of drinks." she murmured, a strand of black hair falling between her eyes.
"...And no funny business!" she added, pointing a finger at him menacingly.
...Not that she thought he would try.
