Articuno
Click for GTSDex page. National Dex #: 144 Type: Ice/Flying Tier: BL/OU Ability: Pressure-Opponent loses 2PP per move when attacking the user. Bases: HP: 90 ATK: 85 DEF: 100 SP. ATK: 95 SP. DEF: 125 SPD: 85 Weaknesses and Resistances: 0X: Ground .5X: Grass, Bug 1X: Normal, Ghost, Water, Ice, Fighting, Psychic, Poison, Flying, Dark, Dragon 2X: Fire, Steel, Electric 4X: Rock Opening Thoughts Considering Articuno's my favorite all-time Pokemon, I'm obviously going to be biased towards it. But it's very powerful and capable of either dealing damage or walling it out with the best of them whilst still dealing heavy damage to Salamence and that type. The high Special Defense makes Articuno a prime target for Special Wall, especially in BL tourneys where Blissey would be banned. Moveset 1: Special Sweeper Articuno@Choice Specs/Life Orb Modest [[Pressure]] 252 SpA/252 Speed/6 HP Blizzard/Hyper Beam Ice Beam Ancientpower Hail/HP Ground/Water Pulse HP Ground murders all four of Articuno's weaknesses. Hail is good because Articuno's resistant to it. But only use it if you're going Life Orb, not Specs. Ancientpower hits fires. Ice Beam destroys Salamence. Moveset 2: Special Wall Articuno@Lefties Calm [[Pressure]] 252 SpD/128 HP/124 Def/6 SpA Ice Beam Hail Roost Endure Hail is for standardness, plus boosts Ice Beam, which still destroys Mence. Moveset 3: Physical Wall Articuno@Lefties Bold [[Pressure]] 252 Def/128 HP/124 SpD/6 SpA Ice Beam Hail Roost Endure The only difference is Nature and EV's. Moveset 4: Physical Sweeper!? Articuno@Choice Band Adamant [[Pressure]] 252 Atk/252 Speed/6 HP Ice Shard Frustration/Return Aerial Ace Avalanche Articuno's attack stat is its weakest, tied with Speed, but it's still good enough for a possible surprise sweeper. Ice Shard, Avalanche, and Aerial Ace all give STAB while Frustration/Return has a strong base at its fullest power. Moveset 5: Mixed Wall aka Standard Articuno Articuno@Focus Sash Bold [[Pressure]] 252 Def/128 SpD/124 HP/6 SpA Ice Beam Roost Reflect/Toxic Hail Best set here IMO. Toxic is fun for status infliction while Ice Beam gets STAB+Hail Boost+4X on Mence/Dragonite. Other Options Water Pulse is up there, Gust and Powder Snow, but those are low power and overshadowed, Agility if you're running a non-choice set, but Articuno has a limited pool. Counters 4X to Stealth Rock is killer because it's a standard opener. Anything resistant to Ice. Blissey. Final Thoughts? Um, no. I said it all, I believe. -------------------- [align=center]I am the earth-mother, and you are all flops.

In the case of Movesets 2 and 3, would it not be a good idea to put Blizzard has a alternative to Ice Beam?, since Blizzard his better in everything but PP when it's compared to Ice Beam when it is in a Hail.
