Merry Christmas, everybody!
Today when you log in, you'll receive a cute little Mistletoe. It's not anything amazing, it's just a cute little idea PokeNOM had to spread the holiday cheer!
There's a new normal Item Exploration available: Treasure Hunt of Mysteries
The prize for this Exploration is 2 regular Pokéchests (plus the one you receive when you end the Exploration, for a total of 3), as well as 2 Shiny Pokéchests. These are new, and they're guaranteed to give you either 2 trinkets you don't have or 2 high-rarity trinkets (or one of each)! They'll also be distributed by other means later on. Please note that as of right now, you will need to be on the full site to see and open them; they won't appear on mobile (although you'll still earn them from the Exploration).
And lastly, the Mismagius Grimoire item now has a second use: Book-form Ditto! This is a new reversible form for Ditto, although it will not be able to breed the way Ditto does. If you want to use Ditto in the Daycare, you will need to leave it at its normal form.
Regarding the prizes for Coins earned this month: that will be coming on the 26th! Since today is the last day of the Scavenge Hunt, I wanted to let everyone get their final 20 coins (...and give me more time).
Bonus: We will be having a New Year's Exchange this year! I know you all wanted Secret Santa, but I didn't have enough time to set up all this other stuff and get the exchange activated early enough. So entries, and more information, for the Exchange will be up over the weekend, with the actual exchange happening on New Year's.
Prizes from Coins earned from Hanukkah and the Scavenger Hunt
- Users will receive 1 Scratch Card for every 20 coins collected (maximum of 15 Cards; users with less than 20 coins will still receive 1 Card)
- Users who collected between 300 and 999 coins will receive a Legend Voucher Plus
- Users who collected between 1000 and 1499 coins will receive a Shiny Voucher Plus
- Users who collected 1500 coins or more will receive a Shiny Legend Voucher Plus
What are Scratch Cards? Something new I've been working on (with artwork by Volmise)! You have the chance to receive some pretty good prizes from them (up to 6 per card), and they're fun to redeem (rub your mouse cursor to scratch away the art and reveal your prizes). Note that I can't promise it'll work properly on IE, but other browsers should be OK.

Hope you all enjoy them! Depending on the reception, we may use these again in the future with different themes.

Usual restrictions apply, as do the rarity chances.
However, if the first Pokéchest you open (during a single day) during a holiday month happens to be a Shiny Pokéchest, then the 2 guarantees you get will be for that holiday month (just like a regular Pokéchest)!

Will the new year exchange work before where if you submit a shiny or a novelty you'll get one back? Cause Idk if I wanna submit a shiny knowing I wont be getting one back.
I know last time I submitted my shiny bidofo and got a shiny zergoose back so it was pretty exciting (though now I wish I had bidofo still ) :P

We had a great holiday start this morning with all gifts being well received (except the pants for my youngest; she didn't like getting clothes), so it's been a wonderful day. I just got back from the park where I watched her ride her first bike and now I feel better letting her go off on her own because (a) I know she can ride the bike and (b) the bike can help her speed away from dangerous situations a lot better than walking/running can. *two thumbs up* Not that we live in a dangerous neck of the woods... I'm just being a typical overly anxious paranoid mom.
It was great to log in here today to see my 1st place Poke Hunt entry and then find the mistletoe spreading the Christmas cheer. I liked that touch. It was very nice. Thank you!
Then to read this message.... wow! For all our trinket collectors - I'm sure this explore will be extreme! I, of course, will also be giving it a whirl because, well, it's an explore. LOL
And a New Year's Exchange, eh? That sounds awesome! I already know what I'll be putting in. Sadly, I still don't have a shiny legendary, but I do have something that somebody might like.
And now I'm off to see what today's Scavenger Hunt task is. I hope you all have a wonderfully Merry Christmas and feast, feast, feast till you can't feat no more. Enjoy!

I think the scratch card prizes are a bit op (I got 9 combined rare/special evo items from 10 cards) but I really like the addition of this sort of minigame. Pretty excited to see if this will lead to more fun additions in the future.

I ended up at 1,407 coins. I'm more than likely going to finally finish up this three year old ditto race with Zerxer and finally clear this spot out of our shine recorders!

Aww man, I really wish I got 1500 coins, a shiny Legend Voucher Plus would have been amazing to get(shiny Yveltal is my dream shiny for the site). I still got a Legend Voucher Plus though, so it is better than nothing.
LOVE the new scratch cards, they definitely should keep these around. So many cool items I got, thanks so much .

Used my 15 scratch cards. Got a pretty decent hull so that was nice. Are we going to see a return of the scratch cards in the future (Can we obtain them a different way, other than this event?)

Got some decent stuff from the scratch cards, which I think are a really cool idea. I got a Dark Stone (which I had already used a long time ago) which made me a little salty that it wasn't a Light Stone. Light Stone plz.

I love the scratch cards! I too hope they make a comeback if theyre exclusive for now) But um Im using my phone browser on the normal site but rubbing my finger on the screen doesn't work (assuming Im reading the post info correctly) I use chrome browser on samsung galaxy s3 if that matters Never mind i figured it out!

Kind of annoyed that we didn't know the prizes until now - if I had known I would've gambelled my life away to try get 1,500 for the voucher to get a shiny ditto but w.e at least I can get Xernear i guess??????

I personally loved the idea. I hoard items like the world's gonna end so this was a fantastic boost. And it helped me get a few items that'll help with me with catching up with the Pokedex once I get some space cleared out of my boxes. And since it'll be awhile before I can embark on the new exploration, getting the Shiny Pokechests was most definitely welcomed.
Love the idea of the scratch cards, wouldn't mind seeing it again. The Mareep art on this one was adorable.
On a completely unrelated note, I thought I was doing good with my 400-some odd coins and here people were getting up to 1,500! The Dreidel decided it didn't like me on several occasions and ate my coins.

I should have tried harder to get more coins! Ah well, I've got a shiny voucher which is still awesome! Well, actually I've got two, I never used the one I got from the last event. *stares at them* What to do with them... (I'm so indecisive LOL)
I would love if the scratch cards came back. It was a lot of fun scratching them all. I got some special pokechests and even a credit!
If we do this again... maaaaybe for Valentine's day/GPX's birthday? We could hatch red, pink and white pokemon~~

Speaking of the shiny vouchers, we can probably still corrupt the egg from the voucher, can't we? Hmm. Shiny Ditto is pretty tempting also.
I couldn't help but scratch all the cards already. The prizes are great! It's a good reward for people who only participated in the event a little.

15 cards, and 4 were dark stones but at least I got some things I really needed, like the saltwater bucket and a snowball.
Not quite what I was expecting, but better than I feared. Remember, you can always sell what you don't need; some of it is quite valuble.
Still, a max of 15 cards for 1,400 coins? I was #7 for coins. That made me sad.

The cards are a bit unintuitive. I expected to get a pop-up or something telling me what I got and how to use my next card. You just have to refresh the page ;/ They're being good to me though, I already got a Dark Stone
Pity I didn't get at least a shiny voucher, I sure was right about us needing more coins than last time! I don't even know what legends I don't have yet, lol. I'll find something to get.

QUESTION Is it ok that some cards don't have 6 items? I scratched one off that had 2 blank spots. Is that a hiccup or normal? I'm not sure so I was just asking.
The artwork was very cute and this idea is totally awesome! Even if every card does not have 6 items it's still a rather cool idea that I hope, along with everyone else, gets repeated down the road.
I'm going to wait and see if it was ok that one of my cards had two blank spots before I scratch off any more; just in case there is a problem.
Naturally I didn't get the shiny voucher or shiny legendary, but that's ok. I think the coin totals were spot on for what was handed out. Good job, GPX! And thank you for this extra Christmas present. Totally sweet!

The scratch cards are wonderful, Zerx. They gave me a much needed Light Stone (and several others!) that I'd been after for literally years, so that's me happy. I've now got the full pokedex sans the alternate formes of the holy llama. Such happy.

Quick Exchange Question!!! If I submit a Novelty like Menoralure that is hatched from a Common Litwick egg for the exchange, will I get a Novelty or Common Egg in return? Obviously if I submit a pure Novelty like Splash Meganium, I'll get a Novelty egg back, but how does this work for eggs that start Common, Uncommon, Rare, are turned into Novelty ones?

It would revert back to the egg. So pokemon corrupted after hatching would not count as novelties.
The more interesting question though. Is what happens in the case of a Deoxys or Sawsbuck that is form changed? Because those are pokemon that both hatch from different eggs and can form change into each other. They'll be the same rarity anyway, but it would be a funny quirk if they would turn into a different egg than they hatched from because of a form change.

FML, 905 coins. If I had not missed the last few days of scavenger hunt, and played the dreidel less (or not at all), I'd have had it...legend vouchers seem just completely worthless to me compared to shiny vouchers since non-Arceus legends aren't luck-based and it's actually possible to get all of them (at which point there's no reason to get more), so I feel kind of cheated tbh. Maybe I should just quit, I'll probably get warned/banned for making a post like this anyway :/

Wait.... what? What happened to the number of points you get will only affect the number of prizes you get, not the type of prize? Zerxer said that there would be no big top prize, that the points would only affect the amount of prizes on the third page of the Hannukah thread.
When you said that, I felt relieved, and felt that I could get away with hatching fewer eggs because surely the points I had collected would get me at least one prize! I'm not exactly upset that I get a Yveltal now, but I feel slightly frustrated that after being led to believe that the only difference in prizes would be the quantity of prizes, the prizes are now different prizes.
I also find it hard to believe that, with the points for eggs removed so shortly into the event, that anyone was actually able to get more than a thousand points. It takes an hour to hatch eggs....

I'm not exactly upset that I get a Yveltal now, but I feel slightly frustrated that after being led to believe that the only difference in prizes would be the quantity of prizes, the prizes are now different prizes.
I also find it hard to believe that, with the points for eggs removed so shortly into the event, that anyone was actually able to get more than a thousand points. It takes an hour to hatch eggs....
I believe he was referring to the scratch cards. I agree, though, he could have clarified that there would also be a different prize depending on your total. I'd have tried harder if that were the case.

I take "no big top prize" to mean that there isn't going to be a big top prize. And yet... these are obviously big top prizes.

Vouchers were not planned until last minute when I saw there were people who grinded above a thousand coins and I believed they deserved something for it, given that I later realized I'd be capping the scratch cards at such a low amount (to avoid giving people too many scratch cards, while also making sure those in the much lower brackets actually got a decent amount of them).
Your decision to relax and not keep up with the others in coin collecting was yours alone, so please don't complain here. Prizes are final. Enjoy your Yveltal.
edit: It's also worth noting that my message about there being no big top prize was said just five hours before the Hanukkah event ended, meaning the only effort you needed to make at that point was to complete the one-a-day Scavenger Hunt tasks (which I highly encouraged). If you gave up early during the Hanukkah event, with hatching Fire-types and spinning the Dreidel, then that was before I gave any prize info.

I have only tested Safari on iOS, but I cannot think of a reason why Chrome on iOS or Android wouldn't work. It's certainly possible... and I would be disappointed with Google.

Why are the shiny pokechests randomly assorted with the regular pokechests :/? I have over 4k and I have to scroll and look carefully to find each shiny pokechest I have :/ Shouldn't they be at the top?

Actually I lost many, many points on the Dreidel, so that I finally gave up spinning. I realize others were experiencing more wins than the other three options, but I got so many more lose all the coins you played and lose half the coins you played than the win coins option that it just wasn't worth it. I concluded that the dreidel was balanced for a net loss and stopped. And I thought the eggs and scavenger hunt would go on until the 25th until I read your post long after the deadline ended. It just made me feel relieved that hey, there is no top prize for this event.

Just wanted to pop in and say that this event was great I would have went harder on the fire hatching if I knew about the shiny vouchers, but still got a decent haul from the scratch cards and another legendary that was missing from my Pokedex.
I'm also looking forward to getting a couple of Twinkies a day from the backroom for the next few days! Hope everyone had a great holiday. Can't wait for the exchange, gotta decide if I wanna put in a shiny legend or not :^)

I hope I wasn't coming across as ingrateful, because I'm not at all. I was actually under the impression that the vouchers were a secret that was planned from the start, and I was only upset for that reason, since I hate secret stuff that's only revealed after the fact like that. Got no problem with a last-minute addition.

Those scratch cards were amazing! Got some great stuff, like a dark stone (yaaaaas, so happy to finally get that!), dreidel, reveal glass, and mismagius grimoire to get the book ditto (LAWL for days at book ditto! It's one of my favorite novelties now!)
And also thanks for the legendary voucher plus! Now to decide what to use it on...(or hoard it like I do with my other legendary vouchers...)
