Ash's age paradox, did anyone else notice it |

when Ash began his travels in unova it was stated that he is still 10 years old however in the pikachu short before the 3rd pokemon movie it states that it is a year anniversary sense Ash met Pikachu and they became partners now correct me if im wrong but when ash started his journey he was 10 years 10 months and 10 days old (according to bulbapedia if i recall that correctly) so how could a full year pass and Ash not have even aged at all?

Writers simply don't want to age Ash.
It's very minor, such things are suppose to have a blind eye for it, in other words just ignore it. It doesn't affect the plot in any way, if anything it just makes Ash look like a better trainer for going through 4 regions in less then a year. Plus time isn't really dealt with in a detailed enough way in TV shows, lots of shows have ageless characters. Anime isn't meant to be realistic or make sense anyways. --------------------  |

Ash wouldn't be the character he is now, if he was to age. If writers where to amke him older, then I guess we wouldn't be able to have looked back upon the other characters he has met along the way, because if he was to have grown older through-out each region he visited to, chances are, all his companions would of looked older as he grew older as well. So, we wouldn't of seen them in their younger state. ( <- do you get what I mean there? )

But not really. It's a kid's anime, and people age. I don't think I would see a six-year old watching some 17-year old on TV catch Pokemon like he does. Just not happening. |

The coma theory. However, i find it a little to... "REalistic" to be ina childrens cartoon.
I think its more like example The Simpsons, where every episodes happens without aging. However, It has been said that a year has passed since he was 10 several times... --------------------  GPX  |

I see no point in making him 2 or 3 years older when it doesn't add to the story. If anything it's better he's still 10 it makes it look like he's accomplished a lot in a very short amount of time. And Ash DOES age up.In Hoenn he sais that there are 3 years since he started his journey.He wsa 13.In the best wishes he should be 15?He does kind of look like. -------------------- |

I grew up with pokemon and being 18 (19 may 1st
) i would have liked it if Ash had grown up. I HATE that the voices changed. i understand the same people aren't going to do tons of seasons but, in my opinion, new characters would have felt less...wrong lol.OR if Ash had grown older and become a important gym leader and his children went on with his dream. |
